A DEEPER SENSATION BY JUAN CIRERA SET DEEP JULY 12 Summer 2012. This was a very special moment in my journey as a DJ. At the time, I was heavily influenced by the radio show I was working on, especially by one of its most personal sections: A Deeper Sensation. That space was all about the purest side of deep and soulful music. Warm, deep, emotional, sophisticated… music with that special feeling that stays with you long after the mix is over. SET DEEP JULY 12 was born from that idea. Looking back, I consider this one of the best recordings I have ever made. It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked: the music, the mood, the flow and the feeling. I played this selection over and over again, almost to exhaustion, and it became one of those mixes that my friends kept asking to hear again. And now, more than a decade later, I wanted to bring it back. This is the second week of my holidays, so I won’t be able to record a new session this week. Instead, I thought there was no better time to revisit something that means so much to me and share it with you again. The artwork is inspired by one of my favourite places near home: Cabo de Gata, and especially the Arrecife de las Sirenas. Its colours, its landscape and that unique Mediterranean atmosphere perfectly capture the mood of this mix. So, rather than a new recording this week, here is a journey back to the summer of 2012. A deeper sound. A timeless selection. A very special memory. Enjoy.

This week I’m taking a little break from the usual weekly uploads. I’m heading off on holiday, but I didn’t want to leave you without music, so over the next few weeks I’ll be digging into the archives and sharing some previously unreleased sessions that have been sitting there for years. And this one takes us all the way back to April 2007. This session has a special story behind it. A good friend of mine had just bought a brand-new Volkswagen Eos convertible and asked me to put together a session for those drives with the roof down, the sun shining and the Mediterranean breeze coming through. That’s how “Play With The Weather” was born. The title was inspired by the Volkswagen Eos campaign at the time, but it soon became the perfect description of what I wanted the session to feel like: sun, road, sea, freedom and house music. And because this was recorded in my hometown of Almería, the Cable Inglés had to be part of the story. That iconic old iron ore loading pier overlooking the Mediterranean is one of those places that instantly takes me back home. Recorded in April 2007, mixed live using vinyl and Pioneer CDJs, and very much rooted in the house sound of that era. Almost 20 years later, I’m bringing it back. So turn it up, put the roof down and let the music take you for a drive.

This week’s episode is something a little different. For the first time since starting this podcast, I wasn’t able to record a live session at the venue. But instead of skipping a week, I decided to dig deep into the archives and bring you something truly special. This mix was recorded back in January 2008 — a time when dancefloors felt different, energy was raw, and every track carried a story. I’ve transferred it directly from the original CD we handed out at the club, keeping that authentic sound exactly as it was. What makes this session even more unique is that it has never been published online before. Until now, it only existed on that physical CD, shared with the people who were there in the moment. This week’s session is a journey through the whole of 2025, where I’ve tried to capture the true essence of the sessions I’ve been playing week after week at Perro Viejo (Almería, Spain). Afternoon sessions covering a wide spectrum of genres, all derived from House music, where I aim to blend fresh new sounds with timeless classics. Versions and reworks of tracks from the 80s and 90s have been a constant, with regular appearances from Block & Crown, Ghostmasters, Nari, and Sugar Hill. This year I’ve fully reaffirmed myself as a true fan of DE SOFFER and Sgt Slick — I’m a genuine “discotizer”. On a personal level, it’s been a tough year for different reasons. Through it all, I’ve gone all in with my brother Di Martino, and you’ll hear some of his unreleased tracks in this session, still yet to see the light of day. As for my track of the year, without a doubt it has to be Blessings by Calvin Harris. With those references and inspiration from Chicane – Offshore, I never get tired of playing it. I want to thank all the loyal listeners who tune in week after week, every Monday, to hear the new session recorded over the weekend.
