    Planting | Acton

In this episode of the Co-Mission Podcast, we sit down with Jez Day, curate at St. Peter's Fulham, to talk about the early stages of planting a new church in Acton, Northwest London. Jez shares his journey from politics to full-time ministry, why Acton was chosen, and what it's like committing to something that doesn't exist yet. Who is Jez Day? Jez Day is a Church of England curate at St. Peter's Fulham and a church planter preparing to start a new church in Acton, West London. He previously trained at St. John's Chelsea, studied at Oak Hill Theological College, and has spent over 15 years in Co-Mission churches.  To contact Jez directly: [email protected]. Why is a new church being planted in Acton? Acton, in the London Borough of Ealing, has been identified as having one of the lowest rates of gospel-centred church attendance in London. According to Jez, there is currently no church in the area where someone would be "fed, discipled, and have the hard stuff in the Bible preached to them." Half of Acton's residents were not born in the UK, 20% are Muslim, and the area is home to approximately 100,000 people across diverse communities. What is the Old Oak Common development? Acton sits near Old Oak Common, one of the largest redevelopment projects in Europe, bringing HS2 and thousands of new housing units to the area over the next 15–20 years, making church planting in Acton strategically timely. What is Co-Mission? Co-Mission is a London-based church planting network passionate about reaching every area of the city with the gospel. They support planters with prayer, pastoral wisdom, practical resources, and funding. There are approximately 35,000 people within half a mile of any Co-Mission church. Co-Mission exists to plant churches to reach London for Christ. We're passionate about church planting in London because we are convinced it's one of the most effective ways to reach new areas of the city, bringing the gospel to people from every nation, tribe, and tongue in those areas.   You can get involved yourself through Parying, Giving, and Going at www.co-mission.org/partners. "Overflowing Hope" Episode Two | Lili Miller from Co-Mission Womens Morning 2026

Women's Morning 2026 Talks Episode 2: Overflowing Hope with Lily Miller In this second talk from the Commission Women's Morning, Lily Miller explores Romans 5:1-11 and the transformative power of knowing who we are in Christ. Lily unpacks what it means to truly boast in the hope of God's glory—not as a requirement, but as a natural overflow of hearts filled with assurance. Through vivid illustrations and personal reflections, she walks through the profound realities of our identity: justified, at peace with God, standing in grace, and saved through Christ. Lily addresses how Christians can glory even in suffering, anchored by the certainty of God's love poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. This talk challenges listeners to let go of false narratives and embrace the truth that our hope rests not in what we have in Christ, but in Christ having possession of us. This episode is the youth seminar entitled "Identity" from Jonty Allcock, pastor at The Globe Church   Confident, insecure, fearful, pressure, pretending, shame,.. a swirling concoction of emotions that feed into our fragile sense of self worth and identity. And possibly life-changing.   Jonty is the pastor of The Globe Church, helps to lead at a Contagious Youth Conference and was once a teenager. He doesn’t claim to have all the answers but is increasingly convinced that Jesus is spectacular and the gospel transforms us. ”Friendship by God's Design” | Sara Snow from Co-Mission Women’s Day 2024

We were blessed to be together with over 600 women from around London to worship together, hear God's word, and be encouraged at our annual Women's Day. We heard from Sara Snow from St. Paul's Harringay on the topic of Friendship by God's Design   London’s a crowded city that is hungry for friendship. Social projects and charities are springing up to help tackle loneliness and enable people to make friends. What about in the church? Don’t we long for our churches to be full of friendships that are deeper, richer and more sincere? Jesus said, “Love your neighbour as yourself”.  What better place to start as we explore how we can be the kind of friends that God calls us to be.   For More Information on the ministries of Co-Mission, head to www.Co-Mission.org and do reach out to us via email at [email protected]

”Faithful in Singleness” | Dave Cornish and Jules Stroud from REVIVE 2023

We've been away getting ready for a big church year, but we wanted to share this last  talk from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This is from Dave Cornish and Jules Stroud on "Faithful in Singleness." Most of us would probably not have chosen singleness. Yet God’s word calls it a gift and calls us to be faithful in it. And faithfulness is a whole church project. We are coming together at REVIVE to think through some of the particular challenges of being faithful to Jesus as a singleton, and how we as a whole church family can encourage each other to keep lifting our eyes to him on the way. Dave, a member at Hope Church Sutton since the 2015 graft and an elder since 2019, joyfully leads their youth work. He teaches teenagers about following Jesus, and organises socials, camps and weekends away. Jules has attended Christ Church Balham since 2010, serving as a ministry trainee from 2015 and now as a staff member. She finds joy in helping people understand God’s love. ”Faithful with Creation” | Andy Palmer from REVIVE 2023

We've been away getting ready for a big church year, but we wanted to share the last couple talks from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This is from Andy Palmer on "Faithful With Creation." We live at a time when the planet appears to be falling apart as a result of human selfishness, and Christian responses to the crisis have been polarised. Some have reduced their gospel down to mere environmental concern, whereas evangelicals have often tended to neglect this good endeavour out of a desire to save souls. How should we think about this creation? Come and see from the Bible the cosmic breadth of God’s mission to save, and how this might aid us in our evangelism. Andy, who is ordained in the Church of England, served at St John’s Downshire Hill after training at Oak Hill Theological College. He’s been ministering at Christ Church Balham for four years. ”Faithful In Suffering” | Andy Mason from REVIVE 2023

This is our Summer Series on Talks and Seminars from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This is from Andy Mason on "Faithful In Suffering" If you have ever faced difficult things in your life, someone might have said – in an attempt to comfort you – that ‘God suffers with you’. But is this actually true, and is it a comfort? If it is true, what does it say about God – and us? In this seminar, we’ll be diving deep into theology and seeing how it connects in amazing and powerful ways with the struggles of our lives. Andy became a Christian as a teenager through the witness of a friend, and through reading a Gideon’s Bible. He’s married to Kathrine and has two children, Ori and Pella. He helped to plant St John’s Church Chelsea in 2006 and has been there ever since. He's also the Director of Strengthening for Co-Mission.   For More Information on the ministries of Co-Mission, head to www.Co-Mission.org and do reach out to us via email at [email protected]

”Faithful at Work” | Jo Evans from REVIVE 2023

This is our Summer Series on Talks and Seminars from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This is from Jo Evans on "Faithful at Work" Living for Jesus has never been easy, but Christians in the workplace today are increasingly concerned about the consequences they may face if they act in accordance with their conscience or share their faith in Jesus. This seminar will encourage Christians by reflecting on their God-given purpose in the workplace, touching on their legal freedoms and providing practical guidance on how to respond well to the thorny questions of our time. Ultimately all this will give us greater confidence to speak and live for Jesus. Jo joined the Evangelical Alliance in October 2020 and does project management, writing and resource creation in the advocacy team for the UK church.   For More Information on the ministries of Co-Mission, head to www.Co-Mission.org and do reach out to us via email at [email protected]

”Faithful at Church” | Ed Kendall from REVIVE 2023

This is our Summer Series on Talks and Seminars from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This is from Ed Kendall on "Faithful at Church" Quite possibly, the most significant thing we'll ever do in our lives is to faithfully go to church, week in, week out. Why is gathering with other Christians so important? Why do we do what we do? And how can we make the most of these times? This seminar is both for those who love going to church and for those who really struggle with it. It will renew our vision for Sundays and help us see God’s genius in calling his people to gather together. Ed has been Vicar of St Michael’s Fulwell in Teddington since it was planted out of St Peter’s Fulham in 2014. He is married to Sally and they have three children, Harry, Bella and Theo. ”Faithful In Culture” | Glen Scrivener from REVIVE 2023

This is our Summer Series on Talks and Seminars from REVIVE, our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. We tend to think that some people have faith and others don’t – or can’t. But your friends and mine believe all kinds of things that can’t be proved. They live their lives based on values, intuitions and gut instincts that ultimately are based on the Jesus Revolution (aka Christianity). How can this help us to understand our culture? How can it help us to reach our friends? Three Video Links from the Talk 1. Everyone has faith — what's yours? - YouTube Direct Link: https://youtu.be/X3MQ_RIYBC4   2. ”Jesus’ Courageous Faithfulness” | Jack Sara from REVIVE 2023

This is our Summer Series on Talks and Seminars from REVIVE our annual festival bringing the churches of the network to a field in Canterbury for a weekend of Bible Teaching, Worship, and great fellowship together as churches. This one is from Jack Sarah on Matthew 26. Jack is the President of Bethlehem Bible College (BBC). Born and raised in the Old City of Jerusalem, Jack studied at BBC after committing his life to Christ and his teachings. He soon became a member and leader in the ministry of the Jerusalem Evangelical Alliance Church, who in turn recognised his gifts and calling and encouraged him to go and study further for the work of the gospel. Acting upon this directive, Jack went to the Philippines to study at the Alliance Biblical Seminary, where he earned his MDiv degree. Upon returning to Jerusalem, he began ministering with his church and teaching at BBC. After serving and leading the church for 13 years as a senior pastor, he, and other like-minded leaders, saw the Alliance Church become a church-planting movement and a catalyst church. It reaches out, through a variety of means, to the Palestinian people and Arabs with the love of Christ. Rev. Jack holds a doctorate degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Missions and Cross-Cultural Studies. He travels around the globe, teaching about missions and cross-cultural work in the Middle East, and is a coordinator for the World Evangelical Alliance for the Middle East and North Africa.
