The Embodied Vessel Podcast
by Loren Lewis Cole
Podcast hosted by artist Loren Lewis Cole exploring themes around the vital necessity of artistic practice throughout the stages of our lives. From the conversation on depression and the 'meaning crisis', to our desire to dance a dance that only we can dance, the importance of creativity, curiosity and play are more important than they've been for some time. As we approach an age of increasing technological enmeshment and disembodied information hoarding, craft and the dexterous skillsets allow us to glimpse an ancient kinaesthetic intelligence that can completely revitalise our lives. Art is medicine. We create art to heal, we heal to create Art. @lorenlewiscolejewellerywww.lorenlewiscole.comGorgeous cover image by @raynjermain , Ben Rayner

32 - The Wingspan of Courage & The Rawness of the Path Home
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastEvery time I connect back to the courage of my heart, life rewards me. My energy grows, my inspiration deepens and my world gets bigger, bigger, bigger. Wildly. The bigger it gets, somehow the smaller it gets. It gets big then the edges start to touch each other again. You fly somewhere you've never been before and meet kindred spirits that feel like family, because you're feeling so yourself that you find people wherever you go.I'm really interested in what makes us feel in our flow, inspired, connected, wanting to create, and what stops us from experiencing that. What's the bridge, how does the thing function? Being in flow, experiencing synchronicities, inspiration and the collaboration of others in the direction of our collective dreams, most people might say they want that, but why do sometimes we feel so disconnected to that? How do we stay potent? That's always what I'm interested in, always.Courage, potency, vision, how do we stay in that focused, trusting zone that scares us but inspires us more??Join the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

31 - The gifts of women, a fragrant economy.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastThe etymology of 'economy' comes from the ancient greek 'oikos' which is the word for home. Economy is the sharing of gifts from the home. Let's reclaim the movement of trade as an exchange of gifts forged in the home, in small workshops, in the gifts of people's efforts. There's a radiant economy alive at all times. The everyday gifts of women. In a season of such tenderness and expansion, deepening roots into the fertile soil, I feel so in tune with the gifts of women, so supported by people's unique contributions. Some tired musings on this fragrantly alive economy... let's intentionally strengthen it day in day out with our verbal praise. The more on our path we are, the more we can see others, clearly, in their radiance. This is the balm for the wounds of competition. Sit back and receive the gifts of women, then praise. 30 - Remaining fully alive and responsive in the presence of doubt and fear.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastFear and doubt tend to make our experience and world smaller. We take less risks and play things safe and reasonable. There's no way we can live a life fully expressed without falling on our faces, feeling consumed with doubt and fear, and wondering if we should just quit. If we're playing it safe artistically or in any other area of life, we won't feel doubt. Doubt is going to come, and what matters is who we are and how we work with it WHEN it comes. Because it will baby, and instead of running from it, we can learn to dive into the ego death of a portal that is doubt, and instead of crumbling, we can find presence there, find aliveness there, find the spirit to continue there. What we run from has power over us. What we face courageously we internalise the power of. Greatness is forged in the fire of emotional intensity, what I often see is the desire to make what could be acute emotional experiences more diluted and chronic. chronic fear can actually ruin our lives, but acute fear fully embodied just makes us deeper, stronger and more alive. We all feel good when we feel confident, but what really makes us, where we earn our stripes is how we deal with the times we're tired and doubt ridden, fearful and uninspired. We don't rise to the level of our confidence, we grow our confidence by our ability to inhabit and metabolise doubt, fully alive, through the portal of uncertainty, into a new awareness and more powerful ground.Doubt and fear are inescapable on a true path of heart, it means you're not playing it safe, welcome to the human race my love. Keep going. There is no security in life, in our work, in our futures, only the courage we have to keep going no matter the circumstances, to choose to celebrate being here in an imperfect circumstance, only full aliveness is here, no security. So keep going, keep working, keep bringing your gifts forward. With love, LorenGo to the Limits of Your Longing- Rilke.God speaks to each of us as he makes us,then walks with us silently out of the night. These are the words we dimly hear:You, sent out beyond your recall,go to the limits of your longing.Embody me.Flare up like a flameand make big shadows I can move in.Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.Just keep going. No feeling is final.Don’t let yourself lose me.Nearby is the country they call life. You will know it by its seriousness.Give me your hand.Book of Hours, I 59Join the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

29 - Life itself is the sharing circle
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcast'To love anything, at any cost, is a bargain.' Wendell BerrySome recent reflections on my own confusion around spirituality and the artistic path. Because Art is not seen as a path in many circles, I didn't trust my own gifts when I was young, and in an unconscious attempt to overcomplicate my life and do something more meaningful, I tried to do all manner of things, all of which left me depleted and uninspired.Being on an artistic path, which includes of course anything we're bringing from our heart into the world- in craft of not, requires a level of rawness and vulnerability that leaves us feeling defeated on a daily basis. This sense of being defeated I have come to realise, is in itself a spiritual experience, because what we're trying to do feels so immense, we grapple with vast currents of energy, and always fall short, and that is how it should be. We transcend the limited individualist trauma culture of our times by stretching out into a vaster cosmology that includes wild beings not human not animal- whispers we feel but cannot truly see because when we focus on them they vanish. The slippery nature of the creative inspiration is in itself a frustrating and soulful experience. In this way, the creative path brings us to our knees as well as to exalted states of wonder and connection, and a sense of feeling raw pervades. A full human being, not a perfectly healed or optimised human being. The last two stanzas of 'The Man Watching', R.M.RilkeWhen we win it’s with small things, and the triumph itself makes us small. What is extraordinary and eternaldoes not want to be bent by us.I mean the Angel who appearedto the wrestlers of the Old Testament:when the wrestlers’ sinewsgrew long like metal strings,he felt them under his fingerslike chords of deep music.Whoever was beaten by this Angel(who often simply declined the fight)went away proud and strengthenedand great from that harsh hand, that kneaded him as if to change his shape.Winning does not tempt that man. This is how he grows: by being defeated, decisively,by constantly greater beings.–Translated by Robert BlyJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastHow PLEASURE and OBSESSION redirect and heal the distortion of 'people pleasing'.OBSESSION WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE- RECLAIMING THE SACREDNESS AND NATURALNESS OB CREATIVE OBSESSION AND HOW WE ARE TAUGHT TO FEAR AND QUESTION IT, BE GOOD AND FIT IN. 27 - Where are you afraid of within yourself?
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastFor an Artist, our primary material is our inner world. From the material we engage with there, we blend our internal energy with the force of upward moving inspiration, connecting with material of expression...clay, dance, the voice, the body, rocks, gold, food, sound....the list is endless. If we are full of ideas about how we have to be, we're unavailable for the energy of our voice to move through us, and everybody's voice is unique, stemming from an internal impulse. Yet sometimes we might find we can't quite grab onto the feeling of Authentic Voice moving through us, because the current of authenticity is asking us to feel anger, ugliness, annoyance, desire, frustration, aggression, or anything else our sense of self has disassociated from. There is medicine in the courage required to be fully alive. Here are some ideas for how to create a short but potent deliberate experience of the very emotion we're hiding from, which brings relaxation and flow because it's energetically very expensive to hold ourselves in any shape other than what's natural. To create work that's vibrant to us and others, we want to be in the authenticity of the body.May you be unafraid of the entirety of your inner experience, and alchemise it all in the cauldron of your practice. An introduction to Butoh, you can look into other videos and here might be a jumping off point...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQcn55T-jNEThe Aesthetics of Bhutohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcUuNF_o2gMBeauty in the Grotesque...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f6R8Ry9qVoJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

26 - How Do We Improve and Deepen Our Artistic Work If We Don't Have a Mentor?
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastI've been speaking recently with other artists about how we recognise when we need to improve, or how we know when we're stuck in a sort of numb comfort of our work. It's so difficult to assess our incompetence or the vibrancy of our own work, the illusive and non-existent objectivity of our work.Within that, there are some parameters I use to scrutinise my own work and can be useful if you're wanting to deepen in really any area of applying complex skills. The true pleasure of life for me is being in the vibrant heart of learning and challenge within my passions. I don't want to create easy and pleasant work, I want my work to ask something of me, really ask something of me, that's where Beauty always lives, not in what's easy, automated and without effort. If effort is a given, the question then lies in what kind of effort and applied how and in what aspect of my life and skills.I assess my work within these frameworks but you could apply this filter to anything and find a place to improve or seek coaching or the improving of skills.Luck vs Skill (Annie Duke)Skill (technique, tradition, manual repetition) + Soul/Spirit (emotional expression, creative improvisation, energy, personal courage within using the technique)Freedom and constraint for artists, the paradox of limiting our options to make our work better, which requires discipline in the time of the tyranny of choice and seemingly unending possibility. I hope this is helpful in your practice and learning any complex skillset. With love, Lorenhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=enJoin the jewellery family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/

25- How Therapy Culture can Distrust Artistic Experience
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastAs an artist, our job is to pay attention to the imagery of our interior world, be it musical, kinaesthetic, poetic, based in painting, sculpture or anything at all. We live in a therapy culture that tells us everything we experience is some aspect of the self and can be analysed and understood through intellectual scrutiny stemming from Freudian ideas. When we analyse something we kill it. It ceases to be shimmering with the vast potentiality of being here. Day to day, rational and applied intellectual understanding of things is needed and welcomed in the appropriate setting- of which artistic experience is not.I'm saying that we need to see this experience as a non-ordinary state where we don't pounce on things and shit them down, second guess them or 'witness them dispassionately.' Rather, what's required is raucous and chaotic abandon, complete attention and interest in the thing, letting it have its way with us, chew us up and spit us out, the other side, after swimming in the depths, fresh faced and soulfully renewed, ready to take on the mundane activities of a mainstream artistically impoverished world.Dive baby, dive.Since feeling is first- e.e.Cummingssince feeling is firstwho pays any attention to the syntax of thingswill never wholly kiss you;wholly to be a foolwhile Spring is in the worldmy blood approves, and kisses are a better fate than wisdomlady i swear by all flowers. 24- The Fractal Nature of Inspiration // ART, DOPAMINE and EFFORT
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastYou know that feeling when you look at something, either literally or imaginatively, and as soon as you land on it you can see a thousand things flowering off of the main thing, then a thousand more flowering off of those fractal children ..? Sometimes we can be so inspired the we become all imaginative vision and no earth based implementation, no connection with the elements other than space, and our art gets spaced out and we lose grounding in our lives. This incredible fractal experience of the infinite potentiality of the world, of co-creating and contributing, can also be too much and completely overwhelming when we aren't actually creating.Artistic inspiration is in one lung staying open to spontaneity whilst in the other being disciplined, narrow and focused. This is why as artists we walk between worlds. It is a mystical experience, deep in the sinew of our mitochondria, long before religion, agriculture, modern language and national borders. Human beings were bringing things from the formless into form, and navigating all the challenges associated with this immense yet choiceless task. Because of this, from an evolutionary perspective, I'm thinking about AI and our dopaminergic pathways, the modern desire for reward without effort, and how that's deeply effecting our trust in ourselves as artists and as true human beings. The more we expect hormone drenching feel good rewards to be without exertion and effort, the less we will strive to dig deep within ourselves and bring out what's buried deep in our hearts. An embodied life is nothing like a video game, a Netflix show, or social media, it is desperately more beautiful, intricately more alive, nuanced and activating. 23- Conversation with Tallulah Rendall / Songstress, Ceremonialist, Facilitator sharing Qi Gong & Sound Meditation - Creative Practice as Medicine.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastTallulah Rendall is many things, a curious and explorative human being, blending her work as an artist with traditional Asian spiritual practices. Why aren't we talking about how essential creative practice is in wellbeing? In 2010, Tallulah began her training in Qi Gong, sound therapy & creative facilitation leading to the creation of her Singing and Creative Facilitation workshops & retreats, Sound Bath Meditation sessions, Qi Gong courses, and one-to-one sound therapy sessions. She has since trained in Authentic Relating and as a Systemic Coach. After years of extensive touring Tallulah experienced burnout in 2010. This led to her learning to maintain her health through a mix of Chinese medicine, acupuncture and nutrition plus training in Qi Gong, sound therapy & creative facilitation. Soon after Tallulah became inspired to support the wellbeing of others, leading to the creation of her Singing and Creative Facilitation workshops & retreats, Sound Bath Meditation sessions and Qi Gong courses, and one-to-one sound therapy sessions. She works worldwide with leading retreat centres and facilitators and is known for both her exceptional facilitation skills, professionalism and quality of care.I hope you adore my conversation with this deeply grounded and articulate human being.listen to Tallulah's music here https://open.spotify.com/artist/5DQdXQQCRyfMedkGbXnMCq?si=ohD9436CTkurCg3lATq9Dwhttps://www.instagram.com/tallulahrendall/Join the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

22- What is Emotional Health?
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastWhat is emotional health? How does it relate to the health of our tissues, our bodies, our hearts, and our entire lives, and of course, to our Artistic contributions?I watch social media trends and self help reaching a cruscendo, everyone wanting to be on tip top form, look our best, feel our best all the time, and worry about what this says for authenticity? Do we want unending high vive? That seems pretty boring, inauthentic and uncourageous to me. Frida Khalo wrote 'You deserve a lover who wants you disheveled, with everything and all the reasons that wake you up in a haste and the demons that won’t let you sleep. You deserve a lover who makes you feel safe, who can consume this world whole if he walks hand in hand with you; someone who believes that his embraces are a perfect match with your skin. What this time needs is the courageous authenticity of the artist soul. Not another perfect morning routine, not another perfect passive income scheme or five ways to this and that. What this time needs is genuine authentic soulful human beings with a genuine perspective on things, a perspective that comes from the courage of our feeling being here, in our unique circumstances.Watch the incredible Mariza sing Gente de Minha Terra live in Lisboa, a timeless vortex of restorative healing deeply human energyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Ip-uUhaoIJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

21- Learning, adaptation, vulnerability and meaning. How do we remain at the centre of our experience?
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastWhen I consider the people I meet and know who seem to have a radiance of activity, participation, contribution and generosity, these people have an astonishingly clear set of characteristics in common. It's so important to ask ourselves what we're doing with our attention, what we're cultivating. We're in a culture saturated with distraction and entertainment, externally projected ideas of success, yet very few people seem to really be able to plunge into their gifts, nurture them, be on a learning path and develop robust and consistent self esteem. Part of the many consequences of late stage capitalism is that so many people have this phenomena of 'low self esteem', this is a modern concept. We've been programmed to believe we gain 'self esteem' from beauty, a fashionable body, a large house and many luxuries around us, yet we actually gain self esteem from being in participation with our environment, and through learning. What is learning? What is the learning zone? What is play? How does this differ from entertainment?Where does a sense of meaning and satisfaction, challenge and contribution really come from? How can we bring ourselves back to the very centre and grit of our lives? So we experience a deep sense of creative control that doesn't seek to diminish challenges, or to retreat from life into a permanent zone of comfort and ease, essentially lobotomising ourselves, but to have a robust enough spirit to view challenges as the path itself, and to come alive in the real, raw, messy participation with the world.Solo episode that explores how play, learning and creativity are evolutionary adaptations that feel good in order that we keep doing them, and how most adults are living on autopilot, without genuine learning environments since 'school' How to get back into the learning zone, out of entertainment and distraction and take our very real power back, for the arts, for culture, for embodiment, for our lives.Join the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

20- Ancestors and Mutual Indebtedness
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastToday is Halloween, or All Hallow's eve, day of the dead in Mexico, which is well known. The Romans also celebrated this thinning of the veils as an opportunity to honour their ancestors, as well as make offerings to what we might now call ‘ghosts’, unrested spirits of dead souls who still try to communicate with the living. Many people I know in different spiritual traditions, Neo melange traditions as well as traditions of in tact lineage, mark this time of year, by taking pause from the busy goings on of worldly life in order to acknowledge, in ceremony, in thoughts, in deeds, those who have died. In modernity, we see everything as what we can get from life, we look at life with an extractive view and want to squeeze everything we can for the sake of our own enrichment. Traditional cultures, of which we all come from, whatever our skin colour, whatever we’ve come from, coloniser or colonised, we come from small, local traditions that varied depending on landscape, customs, materials available, climate, food and so on… modern humans all thinking and believing similar things is a very recent occurrence, evolutionarily speaking. Thousands of years ago, the sun was worshipped, the first glyphs of all culture, long before formalised writing, centred around the symbol for the sun, if that was impersonated into a god or goddess, or simply worshipped as the sun, respect was paid daily to simply being here. Modernity has us in a choke hold of thinking if we get everything we want we will be happy, and I so rarely hear people, at the institutional level or the individual level, considering what we can in fact GIVE. Isn’t it the act of sharing our gifts , of plunging all we have of ourselves and offering it to this life, isn’t that the point?Isn’t that what feels incredible, knits us into a wider geography of life, of the elements, of appreciation? The people I know who are the happiest are those who give daily from their gifts, who do what they do regardless of the money, and if it ends up with them being rich, great, but it was never what they taught. Being rich is the natural state of being alive, having a body is such a rich experience, like ghee, or cream, its alive, thick, responsive to its environment. Happy all Hallow's eve, you beautiful soul. With love, LorenJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

19- The Lotus Grows in Mud / Pleasure and Stress in the Body
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastBeauty lifts us. Pleasure lifts us. Though this lifting isn't an up and out of, it's a simultaneous deepening and embodying. A growth in all directions, and perhaps most importantly, a growth downwards into our being rooted in this life.To have the audacity in this day and age to be rooted in the unseen, and create from there, bringing our worlds and visions, gifts into this world. We can get our behavioural reinforcement from the pleasure networks of the brain physiology and be less and less defined by the trauma networks.Learning happens in the pleasure networks, understanding this, I believe, will change the future of mainstream healing. The pleasure vortex is waiting for us. Pleasure doesn't mean only wild sexual abandon, it can be the complete sensual absorption of our focus networks, bringing all of our attention into a state of flow and presence. 18- Conversation with Nina Powell. Somatics, Pleasure, Embodiment.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastIn this episode I sit with friend and teacher Nina Powell. In Nina's words, 'A little-known phenomenon called post-traumatic growth explains what happens when we fully heal. We don't just reset to who we were before the trauma — we expand beyond that previous state. You don't just return to your former self. You become the version of yourself that you've always known exists at your core. It's an expanded you coming into realisation. Some call this enlightenment. And it is.Every challenge on your path to your dreams is like a magical object in a video game. Each one reveals where your next pill of aliveness is hiding, saying, "Now is the time to awaken more of your magical gifts."This package may look and feel terrible. You may want to avoid it. But it arrives as a gift for you to alchemise like the Wild and powerful Queen that you are.Somatics became my spiritual path. Not just a healing modality, but a way to come home to myself completely. A way to turn life's challenges into awakening and sensational play. A path to live a magical, mystical life — not by transcending my human body, but through it.This is the foundation of Wild Queen. This is why I know in my heart that you will be free of what holds you back. That rather than past trauma pulling you away from your path, it is your path — leading you to remember the wild, sovereign being you truly are.The body knows. The body remembers. The body is the way home. When you're ready to walk this path of embodied awakening, Wild Queen awaits.' 17- The Embodied Stages of the Creative Process
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastLike the metabolising of food, the creative process has phases, energetic properties we can support and cultivate, allowing us to embody the challenges, boundaries and explorations that characterise each phase. These are the stages I live through and by, and support people in recognising in their own experience so that we can genuinely move through these natural phases and express our contributions and gifts, without stalling and making an identity out of a phase we can't seem to move through.Emptiness, Inspiration, Play, Articulation, Doing the Work, Cutting the Ties, Delivering the Work. What's needed on one phase is counter productive in another. I've found this naming of the phases to be deeply helpful in maintaining a robust creative inner life, filled with passion, execution and the essential cutting of ties needed for us to deliver our work into the world.People aren't laking creativity, insight or contribution, but most have not been given, or give themselves the space to embody and integrate each phase of the process. “There are times to cultivate and create, when you nurture your world and give birth to new ideas and ventures. There are times of flourishing and abundance, when life feels in full bloom, energized and expanding. And there are times of fruition, when things come to an end. They have reached their climax and must be harvested before they begin to fade. And finally of course, there are times that are cold, and cutting and empty, times when the spring of new beginnings seems like a distant dream. Those rhythms in life are natural events. They weave into one another as day follows night, bringing, not messages of hope and fear, but messages of how things are.”Chögyam Trungpa RinpocheJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

16- The Future of Craft is in OUR HANDS
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastIf we don't value the person to person transmission of skills, held in the human nervous system, cellular memory, deepest of kinaesthetic intelligence, we will think it's ok to hand over everything to AI. This cannot be an option in a future where we become more deeply resourced in our humanity, our dexterity, sensitivity and unique communication style. The future is in our hands. WHEN WE WAKE UP OUR HANDS WE WAKE UP OUR PURPOSE. Any embodied skill we practice, will never be a waste of time. Not when we have this incredible electromagnetic human body that can store and accumulate skills and abilities that will keep going even if we lose our memory. the body keeps the score. There are gifts in you that are waiting for your courage. 15 - Conversation with Dr Roxanne Partridge of Embody Period
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastDr Roxanne partridge works and celebrates women in the waters that our culture seeks to deny, let alone venerate. She says 'I’m here to show you how to alchemise psychic gold from the shit of your experiences, rapture found on the other side of rupture, and a Queen’s radiance sourced from depths of our encounters with all that seeks to diminish our life force. If you hear the call to more or other, you are more ready than you think you are to transform.I’ve crossed the thresholds of initiation in countless forms: violations of the body and autonomy; ecstatic bliss of being fully alive and orgasmic, persona deaths, devotion to estuaries, dancefloors, soul retrievals, the full-body rocking held by many hands of women in sacred baths over cliffs beneath the moon, tantra, befriending the archetypal figures who show up in my dreams, mediations, and through my blood. I’ve learned to dance in the flames. 14- Actively and with intense deliberateness FEEDING the POTENCY of our hearts 🖤✨
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastI'm floored by what happens when we hold a space for another or ourselves in the ritual container of our attention, and nourish the most potent and alive aspects of ourselves. Introducing a place I've been in for many years in conversations globally with women I know and love, VOICE NOTE ACTIVATIONS!! I've had it reflected to me many times that my UNHINGED voice notes are inspiring and permission giving to women, and I feel the same with the ones I receive. It has taken me SO LONG to realise this is the thing, the place I've never been able to find - here it is. I am at home in the unhinged deeply honest and expressed spaces of being, and this audio coaching vortex is a place to explore themes that come up in my life and the life of women I connect to. This is a really juicy place- parental guidance warning, we're going to explore embodiment, somatics , healing and taking up space from the a full spectrum experience of sensuality. That means yes our aesthetic practice, and it includes our connection with our skin and bones, all of our bodies and their sexual experience. This is the motivational, inspirational, unhinged, juicy and galvanising place I've never been able to find. I am deeply impatient by nature so you can guarantee I'm getting straight into the juice and bones of the subject in each episode, not wasting any time at all, I want to inspire the magical creative weird genius you already are, in all of your manifestations. I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastDòri Varga is an interdisciplinary artist who is as deeply sensual as she is intelligent. She has a mind sharp as a razor and an appetite for the edge, which she explores with hunger and courage in her work through her instantly recognisable page Blood of Aurora as well as her work as a solo and collaborative artist. Dòri truly has died many artistic and personal deaths in the time I've been following her work, which is about a decade. This woman is sharp and deep and sexy and funny and just has a MASSIVE aura that I know you're going to love. Throughout all of her themes and explorations, the nucleus has been exploring the often hidden experiences of women who birth, bleed, renew, create. Dòri has a distinct artistic signature that pervades everything she does from her exquisite writings and poetry to her sensual self portraits, her explorations of childbirth and sexuality. This woman is here to fully feel and that's expressed in everything she does. Our conversation was 3.5 hours and goes far and wide. We discuss the courage of being an artist, how this is truly our time as society is crumbling, as it always does, mothering as an artist and getting deep into creative zones whilst being in a family and the challenges of switching states, sexual intimacy, getting into THE ZONE, authenticity, female relationships and so much more. You can find Dòri's here https://www.instagram.com/dor.ottya/Blood of Aurora https://www.instagram.com/bloodofaurora/You can read the article she was working on at the time of this conversation here- https://bloodofaurora.substack.com/p/m-othering-as-erotic-intelligence?r=3990r5&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=post-publish&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAadl_QCegjBtT_H9z9RvyKSD5vzYTSn5Oxc5brjrx1pEoZQrv-S8-UhvRu3J-w_aem_Cz5-Wy3PMv_wMf0PFNnr2w&triedRedirect=trueJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

11- The Human Body as A Guest House
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastTrigger warning, tender alert- this episode contains the mention of a woman I know losing her child.................This being human is a guest house.Every morning a new arrival.A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comesas an unexpected visitor.Welcome and entertain them all!Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your houseempty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you outfor some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sentas a guide from beyond.RumiThere is no emotional experience that can't be embodied. Desirable or undesirable, the deep embodiment of being here requires our flesh tingles with life during the places our intellect wants to avoid. We are here to experience connection, with our pain, with our bruising, our elation, confusion, tingling ecstasy. There is no feeling that can't bring us deeper into an unselfconscious experience of embodiment. Plopped in the buzzing centre of our lives and our hearts.www.lorenlewiscole.comJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

10- ADHD Woman. It's safe and healing to be unhinged.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastI'm not a medical person. I'm a woman who wants to live my life fully alive and have to work with the hand I've been dealt. This is a reflection on the notion of ADHD as 'Trauma' and the consistent narrative of ADHD being a disadvantage that plugs into the existing feelings of shame neurodivergent people experience living a life feeling like we're 'not quite hitting the mark.'What if we're absolutely on the mark, we've just been told the mark isn't where we are.I decided a few years ago to let myself be unhinged, my creativity be unhinged and let me tell you, everything gets more authentic, juicier and simpler. If you have ADHD or not, so many of us feel we need to regulate away our quirks, our drives and passion, intense emotions and eccentricities. Yet it is absolutely the energy of this unique cocktail that our world needs. Our challenges are our gifts, and we are not broken, deficient or wrong.ADHD can make us great is we harness the power of it and develop outlets and conscious ways of using the electricity of our being t spice up our lives. If you're done with trying to be smaller, pretending you're satisfied with a mediocre emotional and artistic life, and want to live unapologetically alive, this is one for you.Join the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

08- Beauty Sprouts from the Funeral Pyre of the Caveat.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastWhy do we feel the need to babysit the intellect and experience of those around us with the phrase 'this is going to sound very woo'. An invitation to not caveat our inner experience . We need people to speak up about the depths of their inner, unique non-rational experience. There is no caveat to beauty. Beauty is the medicine. Our art needs us not to caveat our experience through fear of how it's going to land.Bravery is in being honest about who we are. Let them call us names, let them not like us. Our tribe will be our true tribe,WITH LOVE,LOREN www.lorenlewiscole.comJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

07- The True Path Has No Name.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastI was scorching hot working inside my wooden cabin. Couldn't think so I went for a walk and recorded a spontaneous episode. I don't even know what to call it. Themes of our cultural obsession with the Self, with our highest self, our best self, our calling, our purpose, and that we need to break a bit more a bit more often.I hope there's some food for thought, or rather for feeling , in here. With love,Lorenwww.lorenlewiscole.comJoin the LLC Jewellery Family https://lorenlewiscole.lpages.co/jointhetribe/Come say hi on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/?hl=en

I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastThere's a place in us that remembers how to be free. There's a freedom in the flesh that exists even though there's trauma, even though culture has done its best to make us uniform. There's freedom in curiosity, innocence in pleasure, and homecoming in creative rewilding. The Embodied Vessel Membership - Rewilding our native creativityhttps://embodiedvessel.uscreen.io/www.lorenlewiscole.comhttps://www.instagram.com/lorenlewiscolejewellery/

02- Healing Happens in Deep time
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastWhat even is healing? We can only heal what's broken. Why are we so afraid to break? We evolved in a deeper time, we evolved with the rhythms of the sun and the moon, of seasons, the hum of vistas of hot dusty rock, of the song of the wind on ice tundras. we evolved in and with the elements of this earth, and invention, ritual, craft, the evolution of culture in any sense, evolved in deep time. Deep time is quite literally any time where the pedestrian experience of sequential, one thing following another time, dissolves. Poetic time.Art time. Native time.Children are in deep time up until 8 to ten or so. It’s when the only mode is now, there is no before or no later, everything sort of occurs simultaneously in a big bowl of ungraspable experience. there’s not a single person who doesn’t now this experience, it’s not mystical, it’s human. it’s the paradox of being [email protected]

01- Art - Being seen by non human eyes.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in this podcastHumans learn with our senses. Artistic practice is embodiment. We've been raised in a culture that teaches us 'about' the world rather than a kinaesthetic engagement 'with' the world. Coming home to the body is the richest, wildest and most deliciously succulent journey a human can go on. It is just so exquisite to be alive as a human. Artistic practice is inherently feeling based and that's why people diminish it from the perspective of a disembodied society.Come home baby, come home. The Embodied Vessel is launching this week. I cannot wait to be with you - with women.

ABOUT THIS SHOW
Podcast hosted by artist Loren Lewis Cole exploring themes around the vital necessity of artistic practice throughout the stages of our lives.
