Passing the Torch Part 3 - Audio

To pass the baton effectively, we must change how we view the next generation. We cannot pass the torch while focusing on their weaknesses; we must see them through the lens of God’s commitment to them. This transition requires a shift from management to mentorship. It is a call for the elder generation to rely on divine insight rather than human reasoning, seeking God’s heart to discover what He is building in young leaders. By speaking to their identity before their behavior, we ensure that when they finally take the torch, they carry it with the confidence of knowing who they are in Christ. Core Principles of the Handoff: Visionary Seeing: We must see the next generation not as they are, but as God intends them to be. The Language of Encouragement: The baton is passed through praise and reinforcement. Whatever we celebrate in emerging leaders, we will see more of. The Foundation of Love: We earn the right to guide the next generation through a history of proven love, patience, and long-suffering. Identity-First Leadership: We prepare them to lead by naming their calling—speaking courage into the timid and holiness into the struggling—just as Jesus renamed Peter before he was ready to lead. Building, Not Just Managing: Our legacy is not found in the systems we leave behind, but in the people we have built up to carry the flame forward. A Model for the Home: This "passing of the torch" is the primary mission of parenting—loving our children into the fullness of their God-given identity.

Humility and Pride - From Death to Life - Audio

This sermon concludes the "Death to Self" teaching series with a focused look at pride and humility. Mark argues that pride is the human default — built into our nature as beings who are aware of our separateness from God and from each other. Using Philippians 2:5-8 and John 13:1-17, the sermon makes the case that humility is not a personality trait but a deliberate choice, grounded in security that comes from relationship with God. The practical challenge given to listeners is to stop self-promoting, to embrace the identity of a servant, and to make receiving God's love a daily anchor.

Pastoring with the Heart of the Father - Audio

We are all called to pastor one another - A Pastor that has tasted the love of God's Father heart and therefore: - makes you feel safe in his/her presence. - avoids being judgemental and critical. - sees the one he leads through the prophetic lens of the future. - doesn’t dwell on who you are now, in your failures. - dwells on who you are becoming. He sees you the way God sees you. - By doing this points you toward God’s goal for you and his belief in you becomes your belief in yourself – what you can be with God! He calls you to your destiny. - sees you as a person and not as a patient or a problem. - admits his mistakes and is vulnerable and transparent with those he leads. We tend to think that if we show our weaknesses to those we lead, they will disrespect us and our leadership. In fact, research has shown the opposite to be true. Followers have greater trust for those leaders who have been vulnerable and transparent with them. This does not mean that you should share all your weaknesses with all those you lead, but I have found it to be true that the more transparent I am, the more transparent - is a good listener. To listen is to love and to love is to listen. Listen for much more and how all of us are called to pastor one another.
