Intro to Sharon and her Projects in Education

I was recently hosted The Dan Baze show on KFRE, a local prime time radio show. In this portion, you will hear a little introduction of me and my project. We cover Montessori, character education, colonial education, and the new measures of putting some Bible into Texas schools. We had a great time. Come and listen. Thanks so much to Dan Baze (insurance agent extraordinaire) for giving me this introduction in Lubbock, leader in homeschooling & private Christian schools. Yet, even in Lubbock, we have academic and character problems! Everywhere -- we need a thorough rethinking and then some founding of some new Christian schools. Will work on getting a land address, but for now, please write me at [email protected]. We appreciate your generosity in helping get the word of help, healing, and wholeness out. Please contact me through www.orgstrat.net or [email protected] if you want consulting services. Manners and Civics? Lessons from The American Revolution

Here is our special for our 250 year anniversary. Things to think about in terms of your children's learning. How are manners and civics related? Character and government? These are things that we seldom think about today, but are vital. They were the root of the success of our culture and our nation. Yet, almost unknown today. Consider these videos and articles. Please watch them with your children (age appropriate. Young Washington and the Civilian Defense intro are bloody.) Then, consider encouraging your children with their own self-improvement projects. Talk about this at your church or club. Have a great summer. Young Washington Official Trailer Young Washington Movie Historians react to Young Washington Movie Is what others call ambition wrong? Where does ambition come from? (At least 2 answers.) What is the best way to use ambition? Does "calling" from God have anything to do with ambition? Rules of Civility by George Washington from Wall Builders What are the most important manners (aka rules for civility) in your world? What are the most important manners for the economic category just above yours? Higher or lower? How can you find out what the rules are in any group? Do you know anyone who raised there status? How did they do it? What rules did they master that they can tell you about? What Students were Reading in 1776 What 1, 2 or 4 books from this list might you want to read this summer -- while you are in the air conditioner. They should be in your public library. If they are not, then please consult the librarian about how to obtain. Wouldn't it be fun to have a study group to discuss these books with? Do you know any one who knows about these books who could teach or lead a study group? If not, ask a professor. If you don't know any professors, ask a pastor. Famous Quotes of Ben Franklin Pick a quote and memorize it. Maybe do this each week for the rest of the summer? Ben Franklin's plan for self-improvement in 4 weeks (Not recommending OCPD Foundation, as I do not know them, just passing along the Franklin article) Can you improve your life in just 4 weeks? Yes! much better than randomly trying all the time. See book by Ed Rush *Twenty-one Day Miracle* which is based on science and an easy read. Civilian Defense Won the Revolution (Patrick Henry & the Bell Ringers etc.) What was the success behind Patrick Henry? Can you replicate that at all in your life? Do you know a prepping group? A political group? A self-improvement group? Find one you like and see what you can learn.

    Parents Teaching Civics?

Is it a good idea that parents teach civics? Shouldn't that be done by professionals? How is that working out for you? Deuteronomy 6 tasks parents with education. Even if you hire a private school or send your child to governments schools, still, in the end a parent is responsible. So, do we teach civics? Meaning ... the knowledge and training how to contribute to the common good by properly interfacing with the government. Let's consider that. What would civics consist in? The small child might have to share responsibility to clean up shared space. The moppet may learn to enforce non-bullying on his playground. The "junior higher" may learn about governmental affairs by participating in an ordered voluntary association, as perhaps a club with officers. The "high schooler" may be trying out her speaking ability, promoting some measure at city council to restrain government. We all had best be continuing to learn about history and governmental philosophy. Today, we take one episode from our Manner product to consider civics: that we must teach it, that parents should be involved in being sure it is taught and properly, and consider what might best be taught. Open to your ideas, too. I hope you have a wonderful Independence Day celebration -- our 250th. Celebrate the 250th by Studying the Founders’ Principles

Let's review the principles of the founders. Here is an introduction, a primer. (Not to be confused with the New England primer that taught reading.) Returning to and understanding of the basic principle's of the founders is of great need. 1. Rights are given by God, not government. 2. Governments are given the power to protect the citizens. 3. Citizen should be freemen who hold government accountable to the original principles. 4. For this reason, all citizens must be able to read, so they can read the Bible, so they can be sure that the laws are following the Bible. Think how very different that is from our philosophy today. I had a pastor actually argue with me that governments, not God, give rights! And surely, to suggest that laws should be founded on Biblical principles is hardly under consideration. But let's us consider it. Let's read actual history and actual political philosophy. And the very words of the founders, which we indeed have. BTW, then, one highly educated like I am will see that not only was most of this left out of our education, we were actually taught lies. Washington being a deist is ridiculous; he was a very devout Church of England man. There is a reason why so many pictures of him are in the kneeling position. Why would a general kneel down and pray to a Deist type God? Ben Franklin's suggestion of seeking the help of Providence was not some perfunctory break, as my students would like to think. And Thomas Jefferson's "cutting up the Bible" was in order to make a non-reptitive gospel with which to evangelize the natives. Please see the movie about George Whitfield and Benjamin Franklin. Go see the movie coming out about the young George Washington. Take children. Then start reading history with them! We apologize for Apple Podcast incorrectly saying we are a monthly. We post weekly. Teaching Your Children Civics

As a run-up to our 350th Independence Day, I thought it would be good to revisit some of our episodes related to that. Today: teaching your child civics. This vital education is entirely missing from our government schools -- intentionally so. Something else has been substituted: being a world citizen. Oh, that sounds great, but when you investigate, what has happened is an entire switch from Christian, American, community values. Even character training has been entirely erased. Instead of character, a training in tirggered feelings. Instead of moral and civic engagement, a weaponization of activism, whole based on feelings generated by someone else. Critical thinking is not analytic and synthetic, but critical meaning Marxist deconstructionist. (If you question this, check out the little booklets that come yearly to every professor's mailbox that supposedly encourage critical thinking and discover that the conclusions are all Marxist. Never could logic come out conventional or Christian -- apparently -- based on those booklets. By contrast, I think you know that there are many apologetic references that do use logic and come out with conventional morals.) In short, for 2 or 3 generations, our government schools (and many private schools) have taught a substitute value system, contrary to the Christian view of the founders of The United States. In previous decades any apparent morals or civics may have not been taught. Then we had "values clarification" which many thought was only "morals deconstruction." Then we had obvious Marxism/socialism/Climate Change, etc. Now we have a pitched battle for hetero-normativity in sexual behavior. But maybe, just maybe, you want to be sure that your child understands American values, the need to both restrain oneself for the community, and the need to contribute toward that community. For no student is this more important than for "the learning disabled" because the system focuses so much on "accomodation" and falsely so called "remediation" that normally these students do not get the normal kind of student engagement that other students get. Further, any reading problems mean that these shtudents do not get "the between the lines" comprehension of classic civics texts -- even if they were presented with such. Manners, getting along with others, and civics is exactly the kind of socialization that SHOULD go on in education. It just seldom does -- unless the parent or rare school focuses in on it. So, today, I give you the episode on teaching your children civics, found in our Manners series. You can get the Manners series in the SHOP tab of www.greatshalom.org

Activities to do with Your Children this Summer, the 250th anniversary of Liberty in the United States

Our most popular topic: activities to do with your children this summer. This year, we focus primarily on activities that go with our 250 anniversary of Independence Day. It was to Mrs. Elizabeth Willing Powell, a Quaker "hostess with the mostess," that Benjanim Franklin said, "A republic, if you can keep it." Whether we have the intelligence and character to keep a democratic republic as opposed to some form of slavery is very much in question. What we can do as mothers is to be sure that our children know history and have some exposure to proper civics. freedom250.org Lots of ideas. Please contribute some more. An example: learning about Richard Henry Lee, founder. https://x.com/publicschoolext/status/2062677814802059437

What Childhood Could Be – and What it might be

Simon Okwayo has visited Austin a couple of times that I know about. The first time, I was able to prevail upon him to come to the studio. He told some stories of his childhood. Amazing. Now, he grew up in Africa, in a situation with a lot less material abundance than we in the States had then and have now. But he and his family were believers. And as a young boy, he moved out on that faith. Very surprising result. Very inspiring. And it turned out that he was indicative of his life's work. He is known as an apostle because he has started many churches, including in the Middle East. I am sure you will enjoy hearing Brother Simon's history. It is a great story to contemplate as you plan the summer for your children. Think what childhood could be. Think what youth could be. The last time I saw Apostle Okwayo was at a house church meeting in Lake Travis. We were packed in. Before he started his comments, he challenged us, where were the children? We should not leave our children behind. The one father who was there who was young enough to have a child (by our expectations) pointed out that he had his son right there with him. The rest of the crowd didn't respond, even with their faces. You see, there in Austin, everyone in the room was old enough to have any children that they may have had be old enough to be out of the home. YOu see, no one in the room expected ever to have more than at most maybe 4 children. Probably poll the room and find an average of 2 children a piece, and since everyone was over 50, no one had "left children at home" to come to a church meeting. Why the challenge? Really, it was a correction. At some length. But no one was at all convicted. Blank faces, because I think no one understood. Conceptually, "Okay: children should come to church not left at home. What is going on? " That is what they were thinking if they were even awake enough. From an African point of view, anyone over 20 is probably married and starting to have children. So anyone over 50 should have a houseful. Maybe 10 children. So, any Christian meeting would be on the whole, mostly people less than 18 years of age. Okwayo had concluded that since there was only one child, everyone had left their children at home. No, he was assuming there were many more children than there were. You might think through why they are not. What are the downsides of that which have not been recognized? What might we do to make for at least choice? Please recognized that our ideas so far have not worked well. Check out an old book The Government is Not a Village. What might be done differently? Maybe more like the Bible? Stop thinking in judgmentalness of what others should do. What might we do? Think what childhood might be. Think what youth could be. We have great preachers who credit their parents. We have youth who are overcoming what their parents gave them. What could be from here?

Learn How to Teach Handwriting — and to find solutions to most anything else

I will tell you how to teach handwriting in this episode. This conversation was kicked off by a Facebook discussion. As usual some mother was reaching out to ?? friends ?? about something she was concerned about. More than usual, she got a long list of really bad advice. So, will let you know. Then, will discuss other options: Testing, finding people who know, getting mentoring. Not assuming the standards of government schools, not trying to figure out an argument where both sides do not know what they are talking about, and not just listening to anyone. And not shutting your ears based on mis-directed principles. (By the way, I have taught 2 series on how to tell what is true.) If you want more resources on teaching literacy and numeracy, check the SHOP tab and look for "When The Road to Reading Gets Rocky." Of course, you could just avoid that problem by starting right. Montessori Method, Montessori Handbook, Elizabeth Hainstock's Montessori in the Home are good resources for that. Think about the anti-commercial teaching. Think about the teaching that anything that is inexpensive or free must therefore be bad. Also think about the idea that anything that is uncomfortable to hear is somehow bad. Truth is often uncomfortable to hear -- especially in a time and place where lies and deception are normal. We live in a society where officials calling for assassination of the sitting president is considered normal and at the same time a preacher quoting the Bible saying that perverted sex is a sin is considered a hate crime. And then we have silly young women who set up Facebook pages where entrants have to agree to "no hate speech" without any definition of what that might be in that group. Think about it. If you want assessments, go to www.orgstrat.net. If you want a fulsome, one-size fits all, protocol for addressing learning problems from the mom level, look for a tab with a page. Notice that the next competitor, perhaps one step up, ten years ago cost $86,000.00. Yes, you read that right. You might find the interview with Brain Balance in Westlake Hills/Austin with Anna Bauereis. If you want a fulsome guide to think through what your child needs to learn, and how best to teach them, before you go shopping for curricula go get : Learn at Home for Great Shalom. After great success with my grandchildren who were terribly afflicted by SES, genes, and accident -- I was ordered to write the book. I did it -- for you.

Dr. Ted Edwards MD – On Forgiveness and De-Tox Cleanses

Back when we were on the radio, one of the most respected doctors in Austin visited us . Dr. Ted Edwards in large part can be credited with starting health focus in Austin, bu creating the Hills Gym. Then, he was the leading women's health doctor, when Westlake ladies and their daughters came asking for hepl with hormones. He was the the first in Austinj who provided human clone hormones. Today, he talks with us about the importance of foregivness in healing and about de-tox cleanses. Today, everyone is talking about de-tox! Do you wonder about miraculous healing?

Do you wonder about miraculous healing? What would YOUR doctor say? Do you wonder if any doctors know about this? Do you wonder if all this hype is a figment of pentecostalism? Or do other people experience miraculous healing (and only pentecostal/charismatic people free free to talk about it?) How about... would you like to hear from a Baptist MD? Here you go. Dr. Ted L. He was highly respected, having long practices in Westlake Hills, a tawny neighborhood in Austin, having started a gymn, and having led the way in terms of hormone treatment (making available human clone estrogen at a time when only horse estrogen was available), and having led longevity practice offering chelation therapy. On the occasion of his retirement party, several older people volunteered to me how young and vibrant they felt because of the chelation (de-tox) therapy. Their visage confirmed it. We are very sad to have lost a friend of this broadcast. More than a friend, he sponsored a year of our being on the radio. Along with Mike Pattison, Two-Day Auto Body, our two best friends. The Window is Closing on College Applications for September

The Window is Closing on College Applications for September. Those really up on it started the application process in October of the senior year. For those who did not, it is time now. For those who did, it is time now to apply for scholarships. Most scholarships will want to see the parents' tax return, and so today is the day to start (assuming your tax return was filed on time.) Is college important? Certain credentials are important in the world of work. Others are not. Choose carefully. For those many students who just do not know their calling, I do have a Destiny Discovery seminar, intended for juniors in Christian high schools, but that could be administered to an individual. See [email protected] It is a whole lot cheap to pay for help in hearing reasonable vocational plan than sending a student to college only to have changes in majors, and thus wasted time and money. Good advising also helps. The journey thru the credentials can be made faster and more secure; and college "advisors" sometime don't advise at all, and even in colleges where they might, they are not primarily focused on the same things that the student or parents would focus on: quick, frugal, and remunerative passage thru school Isn't college just silly? More of less and less? Just ideological indoctrination. No, not unless you want it to be. Every course have information about it, as does every professor. Choose the school for its philosophy and choose the course of study -- and choose individual classes and sections that will help the most. In Texas every course must have a summarized syllabus within one click of the college homepage. Every accredited school will have a course catalog. What you get depends upon what you choose. There are colleges that specialize in every flavor of Christianity (altho nearly every one is more liberal than the grandparent generation of the same denomination.) There are colleges that specialize in conservative political views. There are colleges that are free (usually to residents of the state and/or for some work.) Every college has some scholarships and work/study arrangement. There are libraries of scholarships at every school. Do your own research -- or pay someone who already has. Homeschoolers are probably thinking about curricular choices now, even if they don't buy until the summer. People should definitely be checking out private schools now, if that is the route they want to go. www.powerlearningcenters. Passover Freedom and Liberty

This year, in honor of Resurrection Sunday, I am picking up themes from the Passover. Yes, God passes over us, while He judges wickedness. Yes, we passover from darkness to light. But have we thought enough about passing over from slavery to freedom to liberty? God sums up the Passover story in Exodus 20:2 as "I took you out of the house of slavery." Let's think about that. Freedom is freedom from. Yes, we have freedom from sin. (Even if some Christians deny it. None of us use that freedom to fullest extent.) But realize, please that liberty is greater. Liberty is freedom instantiated with discipline. So it becomes not just personal spiritual freedom but civil liberty. Here is a basic gospel point. Here is a basic Civic point. Here is true freedom: liberty. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Let us think on this this holiday season, and this year -- especially this year as we celebrate the founding of our nation. The passover is our primarly, singular, most important key to our liberty in Christ that we celebrate once again on Resurrection Sunday.

    Anti-Parasite Substances in Your Kitchen

We had an unusual amount of interest in our little chat with a guy who claimed some advances in personalized medicine and a higher rate of success treating cancer. Along the way, he happened to mention a few anti-parasite substances, altho only in passing. My friends were interested, so I made an episode to address common anti-parasite substances. You may know, I am always interested in "mom-level"  or in other words, common kitchen substances. Somebody said long ago, "make food your medicine."  Well, LOL, that was Hippocrates. I promised some handouts. Available if you tell us who you are.   (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//forms.aweber.com/form/69/460579769.js"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, "script", "aweber-wjs-8eh4t7lri"));   and a late addition. Never Have a Cold or Flu Again — Yes, really.

IT IS GOING AROUND I told my handyman he never had to have a cold or flu again. I tried to explain. I tried to hand him the article. But he said, "Yeah, yeah." Like he know all about it. In a few weeks, he was out 2 full weeks, sick. Then I tried to tell my electrician. I told him what happened with my handyman. So, he listened. But I guess he didn't go out about buy the stuff and put in in a box or drawer to be prepared. Because he was out 2 weeks sick. Lost time, money, etc. Then the pastor at my daughter's church stood up on the stage and asked everyone if they had the flu going around? He had. We should all be prepared. What?! Yes, we should be prepared, but not to have the flu going around. Be prepared with what you need so you don't every get sick. Be prepared with a healthy lifestyle including good eating, and being the sun and good hygiene.  Then, when you feel like something is coming on, take these supplements/over the counter things. NEVER BE SICK AGAIN. WHAT IT IS IN? Okay, the basis is garlic oil. You know that, right? But are y ou doing it? And Vitamin C, of course. Zinc, but do you take enough and not too much? Then there are things like DHEA and Lactoferrin.  And finally cimetidime (Tagamet) which is entirely counterintuitive. (It is just on the shelf, but don't tell the pharmacist what you are buying it for, because then sh/he might be hostile. Why??? ) Since we know we had at least one engineering "pandemic" and we are promised another. And we are hearing about people getting sick - notice this and take advantage of it. DISCLAIMER I get nothing for telling you this. But YOU could get something out of listening, heeding: NEVER BE SICK AGAIN with a cold or the flu! I am relying on Life Extension Magazine for this information. They use citations to scientific, peer reviewed journals, so I judge this as reliable information. https://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2010/1/What-To-Do-If-You-Contract-Influenza/Page-01 https://www.lifeextension.com/Protocols/Infections/Influenza/Page-01 https://blog.lifeextension.com/2013/01/how-to-beat-flu-symptoms.html https://www.lifeextension.com/Magazine/2017/9/Impede-Upper-Respiratory-Infections/Page-01 https://www.lifeextension.com/Magazine/2019/2/Prevent-Viruses-from-Taking-Hold-and-Reduce-Recovery-Time/Page-01 Further, since I saw this article and follow its advice have not been sick, except for the one time I was without my stock. Since 2015. LEARNING CONNECTION Okay, so how is it related to learning problems. Well, there is at least one study that shows that children who are sick more often, and thus are out of school more often, lose grades and even IQ. (Reported on Tony Brown's show in the 1990s on the Public Broadcasting Station). Be careful of dosage. Reduce according to weight, and then some. It is hard on the stomach. Take with some orange juice, tea or pop to alleviate that. OMgosh, don't make a child take this many pills with water! But gosh, goes to reason, it is not fun or useful to be sick. Wouldn't it be great to never be sick again with a cold or the flu?

Jeff Zink and Possible Breakthru in Cancer Treatment

Zeff Zink and his clinic, Envita, in Arizona claim a 97% success rate in treating cancer. The medical industry in general can claim about 4 to 5% success. My understanding of the statistic of improvement in cancer survival is that people are surviving treatment better, but not actually living longer than they did before such treatments were available, such as in the 1800s. Of course, somehow it is not legal to claim one can cure cancer; the industry treats cancer. But Jeff Zink stood in my kitchen and credibly claimed a 97% success rate, so I invited him to a meeting with interested friends. I relay what I remember of that conversation. Everyone was certainly impressed. My understanding of what they do at the clinic that works so well is to 1) first build up the patient, correcting nutritional deficiencies, and then 2) to take DNA from the cancer cells and test it against any known treatment substance and 3) to use that particular substance. Along the way, he told us about his and his son's experience with regard to January 6, 2001. They were in attendance because of his candidacy for AZ Congressman. He recommends a book which I will show below. Finally, Zink reminded us that the Name of God is in our very DNA. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1801715564/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=149472f2125d0719e09850bc51cd6429&hsa_cr_id=0&qid=1773332226&sr=1-1-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_s_sparkle_sbtcd_asin_0_img&pd_rd_w=nJzzq&content-id=amzn1.sym.2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507%3Aamzn1.sym.2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507&pf_rd_p=2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507&pf_rd_r=TZKPNAHT8E4X1TX10VEQ&pd_rd_wg=TlcxU&pd_rd_r=0990befc-7233-474c-b15b-c7b663c790cc

Founding Micro-Schools and Re-Founding all of Education

I'd like to start some micro-schools, because I agree with David Hazell that we have a lot of children to rescue from the government schools. But, what is a micro-school? It is NOT a one room school house. Let's consider what each of those is. Then, we will see what the project really is, and how necessary micro=schools are for the many children who have learning problems today. Well, all of our children have learning problems today, if not because of the tainted food supply, and the horrible medical industry, because of how education is conducted these days. So, let's also talk about what education and learning should be. If the system is completely corrupt; if reform won't make enough change, then, what would be our model?  How about the best teacher ever? Let's wee what we might learn from Him.

    Lee & Mary Find Victory

Lee and Mary could have been called disabled. Lee decided to solve problems. So he found victory. Then he found a great wife. Together they lived victory -- by solving problems rather than succumbing to challenges and labels. Not disabled! Hear the true story of some great people. Less than 5 feet tall, but we must inevitably look up to them.

Illiteracy is Now a Problem Here at Home

We all know that we have problems in our nation. Few realize how bad our education problems are. Not just porn in schools -- which is atrocious and surprisingly everywhere from red states to blue and from big cities to small. Even some little hamlets are finding dads in cowboy country coming in angry about their boys being depredated upon. But I want to talk to you about the problems of basic education. Yes, in your town where the headlines say how great the schools are. Yes, in your town where there are plenty of private and Christian schools. Yes.... we have an illiteracy problem. If someone could have schemed how to taken down our nation.. they would have done this. Well, sorry, they did do this. It is hidden that people can not actually read well. But employers know it when they can't find people to hire. (Well, lack of character such that prospective employees don't want to actual work is another problem.) It is a problem when your Bank VP can't read the bank's advertisement. It is a problem when your school teacher can not pass the literacy test. Oh, right, that happened back in the 1990s in Texas. The powers that be spun it to make the population think the test was a competency test; it was not ideological; it was a literacy test. And boy, were there re-takes. Let's consider this problem and what we might do about it. And let's mention WHY it is so important.

The Necessity of Admitting, Acknowledging, Recognizing Problems — on the Way to Overcoming Them

Well, today I talk about the Necessity of admitting, acknowledging, recognizing problems  on the way to overcoming them. Indeed, the only way to solve problems is to know they exist. One must look squarely at the problem, if only for a short time. We do not idolize our problems. We do not deny our problems. We do not wallow in our problems. But we do acknowledge our problems -- on the way to solution. Unfortunately, rarely done. Societal problems often  exist precisely because this is not done. Many situation exist because someone whats them to exists. Other situations exist because people think nothing can be done.  However, nothing is impossible with God. Of course, nothing is impossible to God, we know that. God has turned some thing over to us. Problems may be too big for us, so we work with God and God with us. We acknowledge the problems. Then we ask for God's help. Then we get it! Today, let's just admit we do have some problems. Then, let's see if we can hold on to that idea for just a couple of weeks. Then, yes, I will tell you a story of victory.
