The same God who parted the Red Sea is still making a way for His people today. In Exodus, we witness God's faithfulness to His covenant promise - delivering Israel from 400 years of slavery through the blood of a spotless lamb and the parting of impossible waters. This ancient story points to our ultimate Deliverer, Jesus Christ. Just as the Passover lamb's blood covered the Israelites, the blood of Jesus covers us. The Red Sea became both salvation for God's people and judgment for their enemies - a powerful picture of baptism and new birth in Christ. Did you know that when God set His rainbow in the sky after the flood, He was actually pointing the bow at Himself? In Hebrew, the word means both "rainbow" and "bow" - a weapon. God promised Noah He'd never destroy the earth by flood again, but here's the profound part: He pointed the weapon of judgment at Himself, not at us. This pattern continues throughout Scripture. At Mount Sinai, God walked through the blood covenant alone. With Abraham, He took full responsibility. And ultimately, on the cross, Jesus took the wrath we deserved. Every covenant God makes, He takes on the weight of keeping it - even when we break our promises to Him. His blood was poured out for you. His body was broken for you. What if everything we've been given dies with us? In Matthew 28, Jesus gave His disciples authority and a mission: to make disciples of all nations. That same calling is ours today. History shows us it can be gone in just one generation. After Joshua died, the next generation "neither knew the Lord nor what He had done for Israel" (Judges 2:10). The mission stopped. The message faded. Evil filled the void. We can't let that happen on our watch. As we continue in our series Father Forgive Them, Because I Can't, we learn more about Joseph and the betrayal he experienced at the hands of his brothers. Esau chose not to let what happened to him determine the trajectory of his life. Today was powerful. We continued in our Homecoming series, learning the perspective of the older son, the one who never left home.Jesus uses this parable to hold a mirror to the Pharisees, who were still viewing salvation through the lens of hard work. They hardened their hearts toward lost sheep and found no value in rejoicing with those who accept Jesus and His Gospel.Aren’t we like that, too?
