Embracing the Underdog Spirit
Welcome back to The Jackie Serviss Show! In this episode, I’m diving into one of my favorite topics—the timeless appeal of underdog stories and why they resonate so deeply with me. This reflection was sparked by a recent football game between my team, the Buffalo Bills, and the Detroit Lions. While I’m a die-hard Bills fan, I couldn’t help but cheer for the Lions, too. There’s just something so inspiring about their story. After watching the game, I asked ChatGPT why humans love underdog stories, and the response aligned perfectly with my own thoughts: hope, relatability, empathy, surprise, and the challenge to the status quo. I’ve always admired the grit of the Lions under Dan Campbell’s leadership and the perseverance of Josh Allen, who overcame countless rejections to become one of the best players in the NFL. Their stories remind me of the power of resilience and the beauty of continuing to show up even when the odds are stacked against us.Underdog stories connect to something deeply personal for me. I’ve faced moments of struggle, made mistakes, and had to rebuild. But just like these teams, I’ve learned to get back up and push forward, and that’s why these narratives mean so much to me. They remind us that hard work, perseverance, and belief in ourselves can lead to incredible achievements. So, if you’re an underdog, a fan of the Lions, the Bills, or just someone who’s inspired by stories of resilience, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s cheer each other on as we keep challenging the odds and rewriting our own stories. Much love—see you soon on The Jackie Serviss Show!______________________________________________________Follow me on Instagram | @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram | @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information | www.jackieserviss.com Contact me | [email protected]

Start, Stop, Continue – 2024 Reflections
Welcome back to The Jackie Serviss Show! In this episode, I’m diving into one of my favorite traditions for the time between Christmas and New Year’s—a reflective practice I call “Start, Stop, Continue.” This simple yet powerful exercise helps me take an honest look at the past year and set clear priorities for the year ahead.I’ll walk you through how I use this process to evaluate all the core pillars of my life—business, fitness, relationships, and more. Together, we’ll explore:Start: What new opportunities or goals do we want to embrace in 2025?Stop: What habits or commitments are no longer serving us and need to be cleared to make space for growth?Continue: What worked well in 2024 that we want to build on and amplify in the new year? For me, consistency was a game-changer this year, especially in my fitness journey with the Martell Fitness group. I’ve seen the power of staying the course, and I’m excited to double down on what’s working while creating space for fresh possibilities. If you’re feeling reflective this week, I encourage you to grab a piece of paper, create your own “Start, Stop, Continue” list, and get clear on your vision for 2025. And if you do, take a pic, tag me on Instagram, and share what you’re bringing into the new year—I’d love to celebrate with you!Much love and Happy New Year. Growth isn’t always pretty, but it’s always worth it.Key Takeaways:Allow yourself to feel the discomfort and trust the process.Consistent action leads to either a win or a lesson learned—both are valuable.Growth requires stepping into the unknown and embracing divine timing. If this resonates with you, reach out and share your thoughts. Separation Season in Hiring
Welcome back to the Jackie Serviss Show! In this episode, I’m diving into a concept that’s been on my mind a lot lately: Separation Season. This time of year, from American Thanksgiving through to New Year's, is when many people tend to ease up on their goals. It’s easy to fall into the cycle of thinking, “I’ll start fresh in January.” But I’ve come to realize this pause can actually be a powerful opportunity to get ahead.I reflect on how this mindset applies to health, business, relationships, and especially hiring. Waiting until January to start recruiting for key roles can create a ripple effect that slows your momentum in the new year. With an average eight-week hiring process for executives, starting in Q4 allows you to onboard and integrate new talent sooner—giving your business a real edge as you enter 2025.In this episode, I share my personal takeaways:Why staying consistent through the holidays is a game-changer.How starting the hiring process now can position you for success in the new year. Why the holiday season can be the perfect time to attract top talent as people reflect on their careers.I know firsthand that this is the season to press the gas while others are slowing down. If you’re ready to make 2025 your best year yet, tune in and let’s talk about how to keep moving forward when it matters most.____________________________________________________________Follow me on Instagram | @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram | @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information | www.jackieserviss.com Contact me | [email protected]

Why Hiring Should Be On Your Radar In Q4
What is your current approach to hiring new talent? Like most leaders, you probably don’t spend much time thinking about hiring new talent until you need new talent. Hiring is a rather reactive part of business for many leaders. In this solo episode I am going to explain why it’s important to take a proactive approach to hiring. It’s important to always be hiring.“Always hiring” doesn’t mean interviewing candidates year-round, but rather it involves a shift in mindset. It means thinking of yourself and your entire team as both a recruiter and an ambassador for your business, even when you are outside of your office. It also means assessing your current team, actively networking, and thinking about your sourcing needs long before an employee is moving onto a new opportunity.Tune in to understand this approach to hiring. The Power of Consistency
In this solo episode, I want to share a quick reminder about the power of consistency in all areas of our lives.A friend recently sent me a screenshot of how The Jackie Serviss Show is trending on Apple podcasts, which is amazing to me! After talking to some friends who go deeper into podcasts, I realized the show is trending because I dedicate myself to hitting the record button and staying consistent. Most people start something and quit after trying something for a short time because it isn’t interesting anymore, but we don’t realize that long-term consistency is the key to impact. The more you show up, the more you will follow through and build self-confidence—even in those boring moments.I’d love to hear from you about where you can show up to be more consistent. What is the one thing you know, if you were more consistent, would unlock the next level in your life? Reach out to me and let me know so we can hold each other accountable! _______________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Vision, Mission, and Values Matter
This episode is all about knowing who you need to be to make your mission, vision, and values come to life. We recently worked with the brilliant executive coach, Chad Brown, to get clear on who we want to become at Serv Recruitment Agency. Here are my top four takeaways. 1. Clarity. Your why precedes your how. When you are clear on your values, mission, and vision, it is easy to determine how to develop your organization and the clients you want to work with. 2. Direct Feedback. Don’t be afraid to practice saying the hard thing. Well-structured, honest feedback means you’re saying it so that the person you’re speaking to understands your input in the same way you do. 3. Nice vs. Kind. Genuine kindness means feeling your feelings and honestly sharing to move things forward together, while being nice means suppressing those feelings to prevent hard conversations. 4. Who Do You Need to Become? Your values serve as a framework for who you need to become to raise your individual standards so you can collectively raise your organization's standards. If you’re looking to work with a coach to find your company’s alignment, it’s crucial to vet that person and learn what value they bring to the table. You want to work with someone who takes an active approach and helps your team raise the standard for you—not just a notetaker. If this episode resonates with you, reach out to me! I’d love to chat with you about your business’ vision, mission, and values. _______________________________________________________ Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieserviss Follow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagency Find more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Development Leads to Retention
Are you looking for new leaders who will make your organization thrive? Then this solo episode is for you. As summer winds down, I’ve found that talent acquisition starts ramping up as businesses prepare for Q1 next year. But you need a clear development plan before you hire new people. Before you look for people to fill a seat at your company, you need to get clear on who you need. Ask yourself these questions: What is the current reality of my business? What future growth do I want to experience in my business? How will I help new talent develop in a way that makes them want to stick around?Learning what skills are missing in your organization and how to develop new talent will help you bridge the gap between your current reality and future plans. Hiring amazing people and expecting success from day one doesn’t work. Development roadmapping is the proactive approach you need to retain the best talent available. If this episode got you thinking about your retention strategy, reach out to me. I’d love to keep the conversation going._________________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Summer Plans
Time truly flies by, doesn’t it? I started my business right around the same time I started having babies. While I feel like we’ve always integrated well as a family, I’ve never taken a significant amount of time away from the business over the past seven years. This summer, I’m taking a different approach! After some soul-searching, I decided that spending as much time as possible with them was the best way to spend this summer. As the summer goes on, I can’t wait to make more memories with them.If you’ve been building for years without a break, give this short episode a listen to see if it resonates with you.Maybe it’s time to let your team own your business’ day-to-day execution so that you can open yourself up to more freedom, more creativity, and more time with the people you love. ________________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Clarity Over Tactics
In this episode, I help you be more efficient and effective in your business strategy through the power of clarity. Have you ever found yourself just spinning your wheels? Do you find yourself working long hours, with nothing to show for it? If so, you might want to take a pause and focus on clarity over tactics. You’ll hear about what I’ve been gleaning from the problems execs and founders have been bringing to me. A common denominator I’ve noticed is an overfocus on doing rather than gaining clarity. When you understand your aim — your bigger picture — you can strip your strategy down to the essentials. Everything flows so much better when you eliminate ambiguity. If you’re ready to have a bigger impact, this episode is for you! _________________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

New Level, New Devil
In this episode, I dive into the process of change. As founders (and as humans), we are always transforming, every single one of us. I’m currently navigating this sometimes uncomfortable process myself. And I find that as we move towards new horizons, we inevitably face new, sometimes scary, challenges. But here’s the thing: It’s ok if your transformation gets messy.I talk about how when you’re in the process of change, things tend to be chaotic before they get better. Then I share how to move forward to new levels, starting with taking a look at what you’re tolerating. What behaviors, situations, thoughts, beliefs, or people are holding you back? Are you ready to be honest with yourself? I promise you it’s worth your investment of time and energy. If you’re ready to unlock a new way of being for yourself, this episode is for you. ________________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Reflections and Revelations: Lessons I Learned in April
In this episode, I break down the biggest, most impactful insights I gained during the life-changing month of April. This period of deep inner work shined a light on psychological processes that hold the keys to our growth and self-awareness. And there’s a common denominator to all of them: self-accountability.I talk about how the world is a mirror for our inner experiences, beliefs, and behaviours, and how to use the external world as an inner guide. When we stop thinking about life as “out there” and happening “to us,” we shift into a more empowered way of being. I share a mind-blowing concept about why you’re staying stuck where you are. The Importance of Getting in the Room
In this episode, I revisit my reflections on a 4-day-long Leadership Accelerator Retreat that I attended last year. This immersion program broke down who we are as humans and how we show up in our relationships and business. Each day, the program started at 10 am and ended at 11 pm. Sounds long, right? That’s exactly what I thought before I got there. But what I quickly learned is that time doesn’t exist when you’re fully immersed in an experience. When you commit yourself fully to being present, time is the last thing on your mind. That’s just one of the many lessons I took away from the weekend.Tune in to this short, but reflective episode to hear more about my retreat experience and how I believe it bettered me for the future!______________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Unplugging and Reconnecting: Lessons from Tulum
In this episode, I share my recent experience at an incredible women’s retreat outside of Tulum, Mexico held by a dear friend, Regina Lawrence of Breathe with Regina. I’ll be honest — I felt a lot of resistance going into the retreat, as we so often do when we’re on the right track! Turns out, time for sacred connection and reflection was exactly what I needed.Days of breathwork and sound baths, lush landscapes and delicious meals, really helped me learn the meaning of “sacred pause.” During the retreat, I took my foot off the gas that most founders find themselves constantly pushing on. When we’re used to going, going, going, it can take a moment to fully accept that it’s ok to slow down. But I can assure you, letting your nervous system recalibrate will make you a happier, healthier, and even a more effective person. If you’re ready to hear inspo for your next sacred pause, tune into this episode! ______________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieservissFollow Serv Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]

Then this episode is for you.The days of posting a job on a job board and praying that good talent will apply, are long gone. It’s naive of us to think the right candidates are going to somehow find our job posting amongst the thousands of others posted on the same site.As someone who has been in HR for over 15 years, I have seen a shift in the hiring process. There may be record-high numbers of Americans seeking new work opportunities, but that doesn’t mean job-seekers are desperate. Now more than ever, employees want employers to acknowledge their humanity. They want to be treated like a person—not a number in a pile of resumes. In this episode, I’ll talk about my hiring process and other tips I have for finding the perfect candidate to join your team.______________________________________________________Follow Jackie on Instagram| @jackieserviss FollowServ Recruitment Agency on Instagram| @servrecruitmentagencyFind more information| www.jackieserviss.com Contact Jackie| [email protected]
