How to Know You're Hearing From God Pt. 2

A word from God is a starting point, not a finish line. Receiving a clear direction from the Lord doesn't remove the tests between here and where you're going. Every level of a building has to be inspected and pass on its own terms, and spiritual growth works the same way. We cover why the call was real and the tests are also real, and why pointing to what God said is not a substitute for doing your part. We look at a couple who received genuinely dramatic, supernatural confirmation that they were supposed to marry each other, multiple unmistakable signs, and still watched their marriage fall apart because they treated the word as a reason to skip preparation entirely. Faith without works is dead, and even the clearest word from God will die if no effort follows it. We also get into the pattern that repeats quietly in people's lives, where every time resistance shows up they take it as a sign they've missed God, shift direction, and end up facing the same test again at the same level without ever passing it. James 1 describes endurance as something that grows through the testing of your faith, and when it's fully developed you'll be complete, needing nothing. That process is supposed to be uncomfortable. The other half of it is staying tuned to the small corrections. A half-degree deviation early is easy to fix. The longer you ignore the Holy Spirit's prompt, the larger the correction required becomes. You got the initial word. Keep listening. How to Know If You're Hearing From God Pt. 1

Todd and I have spent years watching people make decisions they were absolutely convinced God told them to make, only to watch those decisions fall apart completely. The most reliable test for whether you're genuinely hearing from God is whether it lines up with the whole counsel of Scripture, not a verse grabbed out of context and pasted onto what you already wanted. God will not lead you into impurity, strife, or anything that destroys the fruit of the Spirit in your life. Whatever he speaks will cause you to walk closer to him, not further away. One of the places people miss this most often is emotion. When something feels right, meets a need, and makes the flesh comfortable, the conclusion becomes "this must be God." We share a story from growing up where two women in our parents' church became completely taken in by a man whose injury turned out to be entirely manufactured, because the situation was meeting something they needed. When you're inside something like that, discernment has to be rooted in something more solid than how you feel. The peace of God is not emotional comfort; it is grounded in truth, and truth is what changes everything. We also get into how people respond to spiritual oversight and what that response reveals. Pruning is not punishment, and when spiritual authority addresses something in your life, many times God sent them because he loves you enough not to leave you where you are. Challenges in the will of God are not wrong turns; they are tests that qualify you for the next level. The people who keep going are the ones who stay faithful with what is in front of them and trust that God's plan is already complete, even when the current chapter is hard. Letting Go of Yesterday

Pastor Todd draws on Joshua 1 and Numbers 11 to make the case that God's plan doesn't change when circumstances do, and the past is no place to live. Published on Subwave https://subwave.app/@thelastdayspodcast/post/letting-go-of-yesterday

Walking in the Fullness of God's Plan for You

    Process of Purity Pt. 2

Gideon started with 32,000 soldiers and God trimmed that number down to 300, about one percent of the original force. The fearful ones weren't a neutral presence; they were a liability whose fear would have spread through the whole army. That counterintuitive math runs through everything here: subtraction can be the source of increase, and what looks like loss is sometimes the removal of the thing that was preventing the win. The refiner's fire works the same way. Metal has to reach a liquid state before impurities rise to the surface, and what's left after scraping looks like less by volume but is exponentially stronger than what it replaced. The stakes of personal purity aren't just personal. When a leader gives themselves over to the flesh and it surfaces later, the damage doesn't stop at their reputation. People don't parse out the 90% that's fine; they step back from all of it. And when that person is a public Christian voice, people who had no faith to begin with now have a reason to reject the conversation entirely. Matthew 5:8 says the pure in heart will see God, not the pure in appearance. What's inside will eventually surface, and everything built on outward presentation collapses when it does. Philippians 4:8 is the practical entry point for anyone unsure where to start: whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, think on those things. A thought becomes a word, a word becomes an action, a habit over time is a life, which means your destiny runs downstream from what you feed your attention. The Holy Spirit convicts rather than condemns, and the correction always happens at the step where the misstep occurred. Keeping your hope anchored in God rather than in how circumstances are looking is what allows the process of purity to produce what it's actually capable of producing. Process of Purity Pt. 1

Purity is a process, not a one-time event or a badge you earn. The image of a river makes this concrete: a river is most powerful when it has banks. Remove the banks and the water spreads into a swamp with no current and no clean flow. Spiritual constraints work the same way. The Word of God is the structure that makes a powerful life possible, and what is in the heart eventually comes out of the mouth where everyone around you can hear it. Scripture is meant to read you, not just be read by you. Most people engage with the Bible selectively, reaching for comfort passages while avoiding the sections that address the areas actually needing work. Psalm 51:10 captures the right posture: David asked God to create in him a clean heart because he knew the work was beyond what he could manufacture himself. Sanctification, as laid out in 1 Thessalonians 4:3, extends beyond avoiding specific actions. It includes your surroundings. You do not have to participate in something directly to carry it home with you. Purity also costs time. Giving God the time you would spend on something else, whether movies or golf, is how closeness with Him deepens. Fire purifies, and fire takes time. A generation that wants everything instantly runs into a real problem here, because spiritual depth is not available on a tight schedule. Holiness is not a hairstyle or a dress code. It is purity, and the Bible states plainly that without it no one will see the Lord. Published on Subwave https://subwave.app/@thelastdayspodcast/post/purity-is-a-process-not-a-moment
