002: Emotional Metabolism: Why You Can't Think Your Way Out of a Feeling

You can understand exactly why you're upset, trace it back, name it, even have compassion for it, and still feel stuck in it. In this solo episode, Isabelle explores the difference between understanding a feeling and actually metabolizing it. Drawing on the concept of emotional metabolism, she walks through why insight alone was never the whole job, what it looks like when a feeling gets stuck instead of moving through the body, and how her own Validate-Differentiate practice helps a feeling finish what it came to do.   You'll learn: Why emotional metabolism is a body process, not a mental one The two-step Validate-Differentiate practice, and how to use it in real time A simple somatic check-in you can use the next time a feeling rises Why feeling something fully isn't a setback in your healing, it's the healing   This episode is for you if you've ever done all the inner work, understood the pattern completely, and still felt just as stuck as before.   Resources mentioned: Join The Sistering: isabellebridges.com/the-sistering/ The Vision Keeper (free): isabellebridges.com/vision-keeper/ Book a Dream Catcher Call: isabellebridges.com/dreamcatcher-call/   Connect with Isabelle: The Isabelle Bridges Show — subscribe wherever you listen Instagram: @isabellebridgesboesch

001: Expanding Beyond Your Zone of Genius

In this solo episode, Isabelle unpacks the gap that keeps so many capable women stuck, the space between the zone of excellence and the zone of genius. Drawing from Gay Hendricks' The Big Leap, she walks through the four zones we all live inside of, why the world rewards us for staying in the one that quietly burns us out, and what it actually takes to leap toward the work only we could do.

144: 6 Pillars of an Empowered Life

What if the way you show up in your life had less to do with discipline and strategy and everything to do with identity? In this episode, Isabelle walks you through the BRIDGE pillars framework: 6 foundational pillars of an empowered life that can anchor you from the inside out. Before diving in, she unpacks the crucial difference between interdependence and codependence, including a powerful look at the Karpman Drama Triangle and why your instinct to rescue might actually be keeping your kids stuck.   In this episode you'll hear about: The difference between codependence and interdependence and why it matters for your family culture The Karpman Drama Triangle: Victim, Persecutor, and Rescuer and why the Rescuer role is the sneakiest trap for mothers What it really means to be a team (without losing yourself in the process) The 6 BRIDGE pillars: Belonging, Resources, Identity, Direction, Guides, and Empowered Bodyset/Heartset/Mindset Why your nervous system regulation is the foundation all the other pillars rest on   Resources mentioned: Karpman Drama Triangle — full breakdown: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpman_drama_triangle Come Home to Yourself: Your Personal Nourishment Menu (free): https://isabellebridges.com/freebies/ Pressure Relief Kit (free): https://isabellebridges.com/pressure-relief-kit-2/ The Mother's Empowerment Sisterhood: https://isabellebridges.com

143: Your Dreams Are Trying To Tell You Something with Dr. Barbara Bain

You've said it before. "I don't really dream." But what if I told you that you dream 5 to 6 times every single night, and simply haven't learned how to listen yet? In this episode, Indigenous psychologist Dr. Barbara Bain opens a doorway most of us have never walked through and what's on the other side might change everything. What you'll learn: Why every human being dreams, even if they can't remember a single one and how to begin building a relationship with your dreaming world Where dreams actually come from (hint: it's your heart, not your head) and why that matters for your sense of identity and direction A simple nightly practice to invite your dreams in and start receiving the information that's meant specifically for you How to work with difficult dreams and why even the scary ones carry medicine What dream catchers actually are, where they originate, and how to use one with integrity Resources mentioned: Dr. Barbara Bain's website: barbarabain.com Indigenous Awakening Consulting — contact Dr. Bain directly through her website Magdalena Magazine — featuring Dr. Bain on federal recognition and tribal enrollment Eduardo Duran — Indigenous psychologist and dream work author Vine Deloria — Indigenous philosopher and author Grab your free Nourishment Menu freebie: isabellebridges.com/freebies/ Ready for nervous system support that actually meets you in real life? Start with the free Pressure Relief Kit: isabellebridges.com/pressure-relief-kit-2/

142: How to Become Unoffendable (Part 2)

Motherhood gives us endless opportunities to practice not taking everything personally. In this episode, Isabelle explores what it really means to become unoffendable—not numb, passive, or shut down, but grounded enough that other people’s words, judgments, and projections don’t get to define who you are. She shares why criticism stings most when it touches an unhealed place, how to discern whether feedback is useful or simply noise, and why one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is not a life free from offense—but the inner steadiness to not internalize everything they hear.   In this episode, we explore: Why motherhood can trigger every unhealed place in us The difference between pain, truth, and projection How to tell whether criticism is useful Why not every opinion deserves equal weight How to model discernment and self-trust for your children What it means to belong to yourself deeply enough that you are less easily shaken   JOUNRAL Qs: What kinds of comments or situations offend me most easily? What do those moments reveal about my own tender spots or unintegrated beliefs? Whose opinions have I given too much authority to? Who has actually earned the right to speak meaningfully into my life?   Resource mentioned: The Mother's Empowerment Sisterhood: https://isabellebridges.com/mes-waitlist-new/

    141: How To Become Unoffendable

Your kid says, “I hate you.” A sibling calls another sibling “stupid.” A family member offers a parenting critique… and suddenly you feel hooked, activated, and hurt. In this episode, Isabelle teaches “unoffendability” as a form of emotional maturity: the ability to pause, discern, and respond without letting someone else’s words define your identity. You’ll learn: Why offense usually hits where you’re already tender The 3-question filter: Do I agree? Can I learn? And do I release? How to model emotional empowerment for your kids Why “not everyone deserves a vote in your nervous system” What empowerment means to Isabelle—and how to practice it in real life Journal prompts: What do I get offended by most as a mother? Whose opinions am I treating like truth that they haven’t earned? Where can I practice one small moment of unoffendability this week? 140: When Your Child’s Behavior Triggers You with Wendy Snyder

What if the moments that feel hardest in parenting are actually invitations into healing?   In this episode of the Mother’s Empowerment Podcast, I’m joined by Wendy Snyder, certified positive parenting educator, family life coach, founder of Fresh Start Family, and author of Fresh Start Your Family: Powerful Parenting to Restore Peace in Your Home.   Together, we talk about what it means to parent from an empowered place instead of a reactive one. Wendy shares how awareness is only the beginning. From there, the real work becomes self-compassion, nervous system regulation, and learning how to create space between a trigger and a response.   We also talk about inherited parenting strategies, the pressure to move fast, the power of slowing down, and how our children often mirror the very places where we still need tenderness and support. If you’ve ever found yourself yelling, reacting, feeling guilty, or wondering how to change patterns without shaming yourself in the process, this conversation will meet you there. In this episode, we explore: What empowerment means in motherhood and parenting The difference between reactive and responsive parenting Why awareness alone is not enough to change patterns How self-compassion supports real change Why yelling often has deep nervous system roots The power of slowing down and co-regulation How strong-willed kids can become catalysts for healing What revenge behavior may actually be communicating How to hold your feelings without making them wrong Why peace in the home begins with peace within Mentioned in this episode: 📘 Book: Fresh Start Your Family https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/book/ 🎧 Podcast: Fresh Start Family https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/podcast/ 🌵 Resource: Cactus Kids Survival Guide https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/cactus-kids/ 👤 Viktor Frankl https://www.viktorfrankl.org/ 👤 Brené Brown https://brenebrown.com/ 📕 Book: Man’s Search for Meaning https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/181827/mans-search-for-meaning-by-viktor-e-frankl/ Connect with Wendy: 🌿 Fresh Start Family (Website) https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/ 🎧 Fresh Start Family Podcast https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/podcast/ 📱 Instagram https://www.instagram.com/freshstartwendy/ Resources for you: Grab The Pressure Relief Kit: https://isabellebridges.com/pressure-relief-kit-2/ Learn more about the Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood: https://isabellebridges.com/sisterhood/ Listen to more episodes: https://isabellebridges.com/podcast

Happy Earth Day with Frank Weaver

HAPPY EARTH DAY, dear listener! In this episode, I interviewed (And played with) Frank Oscar Weaver Vasconcelos. Grab a piece of paper and come play along. Frank was born and raised on the border of Paraguay and Brazil, grew up volunteering in his family’s environmental NGO. This early experience fostered a deep connection with the Pai Tavytera community, where he was initiated through the Kunumi Pepy ceremony and is now officially enrolled in the Panambi’y tribe. For more than 15 years in Central Florida, Frank has built youth-led environmental programs that earned a National Geographic Planet Inspired award and helped influence local policy. During his time at Apple, he launched volunteer efforts and served as the lead guide for the state of Florida. Frank also founded Indigenous Earth, a cultural preservation initiative that connects teens with traditional ecological knowledge through hands-on workshops and a globally reaching podcast. Through his work with local nonprofits, Frank has secured grants for environmental programs that support Hispanic communities, including the bilingual Wetlands Ambassador Program, recognized by Orange County Public Schools as a Partner of the Year initiative. He is proud to be able to mentors United Tribal Youth’s Earth Ambassadors to better become community leaders. Frank now looks forward to deepening his servant leadership by supporting youth clubs across Latin America—helping them cultivate purpose, amplify their impact, and grow into powerful agents of change for their communities. Choose You: Healing, Power, and the Courage to Rise with Lorraine Fletcher

What happens when a woman stops abandoning herself—and consciously chooses her own healing? In this episode of the Mother’s Empowerment Podcast, Isabelle is joined by Lorraine Fletcher, founder of Fab Body Costa Rica, for a powerful, truth-filled conversation about self-love, empowerment, and the courageous choice to rise. Lorraine shares the deeply personal moments that shaped her work with women—from sitting with women who had given up their power, to witnessing their transformation when they reclaimed it. Together, Isabelle and Lorraine explore what it really means to heal consciously—without bypassing the pain, but also without staying stuck in it. This episode touches on: Why healing does hurt—and why that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong The cost of self-betrayal and the freedom that comes from choosing yourself How power is reclaimed through boundaries, embodiment, and truth Why growth follows safety—not fear The difference between “playing it safe” and creating real safety How nature, community, and the body support deep healing Lorraine also shares her poetic wisdom, powerful metaphors (the onion, the broken arm), and a reminder every woman needs to hear: the key to your freedom is already inside you. ✨ Next Empowering Action: Choose yourself—consciously and unapologetically. Say yes when your soul says yes. Say no when no is true. Building Impact Without Burning Out with Jackie Gilbert

What if your life’s work didn’t come from a strategic plan—but from listening deeply, responding honestly, and following one small, courageous “yes”? In this episode of the Mother’s Empowerment Podcast, Isabelle sits down with Jackie Gilbert, co-founder of One Thread Collective, for a powerful conversation about purpose, fulfillment, and building meaningful impact without burning yourself out. Jackie shares the unexpected origin story of One Thread Collective—from her time as a Fulbright researcher in La Guajira, Colombia, to supporting Indigenous Wayuu women through sustainable income, education, and community-led development. What began as a simple request—“Can you help us sell our bags?”—became a globally impactful organization rooted in relationship, dignity, and trust. Together, Isabelle and Jackie explore: Why purpose often reveals itself after we stop forcing the path The difference between stress that depletes and stress that feels meaningful Why empowerment isn’t just self-care—but being part of something bigger than yourself How supporting women transforms entire communities What to do when you feel disheartened, blocked, or “behind” in your own life This episode is a grounding reminder that fulfillment doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing what’s true. ✨ Next Empowering Action: Find one place—today—where you can offer your time, energy, or financial support in alignment with your values. Becoming Her: Embodied and Empowered with Anna Finck

Welcome to spring, mama! This week we're diving deep into the foundation of true empowerment—your body. I'm joined by Anna Finck, a wellness architect and lifestyle designer who's pioneering a revolutionary approach to health that bridges science and spirituality, art and alchemy. Anna's work in embodied wellness is transforming how women relate to their bodies, moving from disconnection and disempowerment to presence and power. In this conversation, Anna shares her personal journey from aspiring medical doctor to wellness architect, sparked by her brother's death when she was four and later by her mother's autoimmune diagnosis. She guides us through what it truly means to be embodied (hint: most of us have been living disconnected from our bodies without even realizing it), and offers a beautiful practice to help us reconnect right now. We explore: What embodiment actually means and how to know if you're connected to your body Why your body is your greatest technology, not your problem The difference between living in reaction (survival mode) versus creation (radiance mode) How burnout is an invitation to redesign, not a sign to give up The power of "sistering"—how women support one another like architectural beams Why moms are the foundation of the family and how embodied wellness ripples out Radiance codes and activating your body's blueprint for vitality Anna reminds us that empowerment stems from being connected to the body—because your body is the source of your power. When you're connected to your body, you're connected to your power. This episode is a breath of fresh air (literally—Anna leads us through breathwork!) and a powerful reminder that you are your own best mentor. The wisdom you seek is already within. Next Empowering Action: Listen to yourself. Listen to your soul. Follow those soul nudges and do the thing that scares you, even if it doesn't make sense—because it's leading you to your greatness, to your becoming. “It’s Not Fair”: The Mindset Shift That Ends Resentment

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “It’s not fair” — about motherhood, your partner, your ex, your workload, your timeline, your body, your life? In this episode, Isabelle breaks down the “fairness fallacy” (a common cognitive distortion) and explains why this lens can quietly fuel resentment, helplessness, and emotional exhaustion — even when your frustration is completely valid. You’ll learn the difference between reciprocity (healthy balance) and fairness (the exhausting demand that life and people “should” be equal), and you’ll get a simple 4-step framework — the 4 R’s — to move from resentment to grounded, solution-oriented empowerment. This isn’t about pretending things are okay when they’re not. It’s about reclaiming your power when life isn’t fair. What You’ll Learn Why “it’s not fair” can become a mental trap (even when it’s true) How vague “they/society/men/everyone” thinking drains your agency Reciprocity vs fairness — and why your nervous system cares The 4 R’s to dismantle resentment: Reframe → Responsibility → Reality Check → Redirect How to stop reliving the past and start moving toward “what’s next” Journal Prompt Where are you most often thinking “it’s not fair” right now? Run it through the 4 R’s: Reframe: What’s a more charitable, nuanced interpretation? Responsibility: Where is your leverage point (not blame — power)? Reality Check: What’s realistic to expect here? Redirect: What’s the smallest next step toward a solution? The Glue That Makes Manifesting Stick

If you’ve tried manifesting and it didn’t “work,” this episode is your exhale. Today I’m reframing manifestation as a brain-training + nervous system practice—not wishful thinking. You’ll learn why stress can block change, what I call the “glue” that makes new beliefs stick, and my simple 4-part method to align your focus, beliefs, and micro-actions so your life can actually shift. In this episode, you’ll learn: - Why manifestation can feel impossible when your “stress bucket” is full - How your nervous system affects your ability to change patterns - What “glue” is (and how to use it so your intention lands) - My 4-part manifestation method: Desire → Competing Belief → Action Board → Micro-Actions - A 90-second Vivid Dream imprint you can do anytime   Try this after listening (5 minutes) - Write your one-sentence desire (present tense). - Name the competing belief that contradicts it. - Choose one micro-action today that supports the new identity. Adulting as an Act of Love: Life & Disability Insurance for Your Family

When you’re already over capacity, the idea of planning for worst-case scenarios can feel… impossible. Many of us were never taught how to think about life insurance, disability insurance, or estate planning—especially as moms. So we avoid it, tell ourselves “my partner handles that,” and hope for the best. In this episode, I’m joined by Wallis Tsai of Above Board Financial, a former Goldman Sachs insider who now helps real families make grounded, no-BS insurance decisions that actually match their lives and values. Together, we talk about how to take “financial disaster” off the table—not from fear, but from love. We explore: Why financial empowerment starts with understanding your actual situation—not being “good at math.” The simple Level One planning every family should consider: life insurance and disability insurance. How to calculate the real value of a stay-at-home or lower-earning parent’s unpaid labor. The emotional resistance to scenario planning (especially if money was never talked about in your family) and how to gently move through it. Level Two planning: the harder conversations about values, wishes, and guardianship—and why they matter. How to reframe this kind of planning as self-care and an act of love for your kids and your future self. No Bad Dreams: Nighttime Dreamwork, Parts & Neuro-Complexity with Genevieve Camp

As we land on the other side of the holidays and slip back into school routines, a lot can feel stirred up—both in our waking lives and in our dreams. In this conversation, I’m joined by Genevieve Camp—board certified art therapist, certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist and coach, evolutionary astrologer, dreamwork guide, and mama to a wildly creative nine-year-old. Genevieve works at the intersection of trauma healing, giftedness, neuro-complexity, and creativity, weaving together IFS, art, astrology, dreamwork, and meditation. Together we explore how your nighttime dreams, your “parts,” and your beautifully complex brain can become allies in your empowerment. In this episode, we talk about: Why everyone dreams (whether you remember them or not) A simple way to start remembering your dreams—starting tonight The powerful idea that there are no bad dreams—how even nightmares arrive in service of healing and wholeness How to “metabolize” scary or recurring dreams instead of pushing them away An accessible introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) and “parts work” The tiny but huge reframe from “I’m overwhelmed” to “A part of me is overwhelmed” What Genevieve means by giftedness and neuro-complexity, and why so many sensitive, deep-thinking moms feel “too much” and “not enough” at the same time The shame that can come with labels like “neurodivergent”—and how naming can become empowering when we claim who we are A little toe-dip into evolutionary astrology and how it can illuminate the bigger, soul-level curriculum you’re working with in this lifetime Empowering action: Before you go to bed tonight, put a piece of paper or journal and a pen by your bed. As you settle in, gently tell yourself: “I want to remember my dreams.” When you wake up, write down anything you remember—even a tiny fragment. That’s the beginning of your dream practice. 🌙 Resources mentioned: Genevieve’s website & offerings: GenevieveCamp.com Book: No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz (IFS) The Art of Parts workbook (creative IFS exploration) – available through Genevieve’s site If this episode resonates, it would mean so much if you’d follow the show, leave a rating or review, and share this episode with a friend who’s navigating her own beautiful complexity.

As mothers, we’re told that if we just try harder, get more disciplined, and stick to our resolutions, life will finally feel better.   But what if the problem isn’t your willpower at all… What if it’s that your nervous system is already over capacity, and your inner critic is running the show?   In this powerful New Year episode, I’m joined by multi–award-winning psychotherapist, executive coach, and author Lisa Skeffington, who has spent nearly three decades helping high-performing women move from anxiety to true empowerment. Together, we talk about why so many New Year’s resolutions quietly fizzle by February—and how to create change that actually honors your nervous system, your self-worth, and your real needs.   In this episode, we explore: Why anxiety is often a messenger, not the “real problem” The invisible script you’re carrying from childhood—and how it secretly decides whether your resolutions stick or collapse   Five common ways women self-sabotage their goals (and how this is actually a form of protection, not a character flaw)   Why over-giving, over-doing, and “trying harder” are rooted in a deep need to feel enough The truth about affirmations: when they help…and when they quietly make you feel worse How to set intentions that are grounded in self-worth and inner safety, not perfectionism or people-pleasing   A simple reflective practice you can do with a cup of tea to discover what you really need right now   Lisa reminds us that resolutions don’t fail because we’re lazy or undisciplined. They fail when we’re asking an anxious, exhausted system to perform at even higher levels without tending to the fear, doubt, and worthiness wounds underneath.   Real change begins when you stop trying to earn your worth through achievement, and start remembering that you are already enough.   Connect with Lisa Skeffington Take Lisa’s Self-Esteem Reality Check Quiz and receive a personalized invitation for next steps: 👉 welcome.empoweredmomentum.com   Get a free preview of her latest book From Anxious to Empowered on the same page Explore options to work with Lisa 1:1 or in her Coastal Escapes in the UK (details via her site and calendar link on the page)   📱 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lisaskeffingtonanxiety Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/empowered.momentum/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-skeffington/?originalSubdomain=uk Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@lisa.empoweredmomentum

Why The Holidays Hijack Your Nervous System

The holidays arrive at the exact moment nature is inviting us to slow down — but modern holiday culture pushes us to speed up. In this episode, Isabelle explains why that mismatch can strain the nervous system, why holiday “overreactions” are often nervous system state shifts (not personality flaws), and how old brain patterns can get triggered by scents, songs, family dynamics, and sensory overload. You’ll learn a simple 3-step reset — Name it, Orient, Regulate — plus boundary and rest practices that help you move through the season with more steadiness and self-trust. What You’ll Learn Why winter biology + holiday overstimulation can dysregulate the nervous system What “neurotags” are (and why one small cue can trigger a big reaction) Why story follows state and how to interrupt the loop A simple regulation sequence you can use in real time Why boundaries are nervous system protection — not selfishness How “winter moments” of rest rewrite your holiday experience Journal Prompts What holiday cues tend to trigger me? What state do I shift into most often? What boundary would protect my capacity this year? What’s one daily winter moment I can give myself?

    Stop Walking On Eggshells

As the holidays approach, many women find themselves walking on eggshells — carefully managing other people’s emotions to avoid conflict, guilt, or drama. In this episode, Isabelle explores why “offense” can become a subtle control mechanism in relationships, and why being willing to disappoint someone (kindly) can actually create more honesty, trust, and intimacy. You’ll learn how to stop living under the “tyranny of the tantrum,” how to tell the truth without over-explaining, and how to set simple holiday boundaries that protect your peace. What You’ll Learn Why you can’t feel close to someone you can’t be honest with How offense can function as a control tool (even unintentionally) The difference between integrity and “keeping the peace” A holiday-ready mindset for saying no without collapsing into guilt Simple boundary scripts you can use immediately Holiday Boundary Scripts Mentioned “We’re staying home this year.” “We need to head out by 7 — bedtime.” “That doesn’t work for our family.” Journal Prompts What do I avoid saying because I fear someone’s reaction? What boundary am I ready to set this season? Can I care more about what I think of me than what others think of me?

How to Be a Team During the Holidays (Without Mom Doing It All)

If the holidays tend to leave you feeling like the overworked event planner, caterer, housekeeper, and emotional support human all rolled into one… this episode is for you. In this conversation-style solo episode, Isabelle invites you to gently rewrite the “mom does everything” script and begin relating to your family as an actual team during the holidays. You’ll receive real, word-for-word scripts you can use with: Younger kids who want to help but need a clear “job” Tweens and teens who are ready to share real responsibility Partners or co-parents who genuinely want to support you but don’t always see the full mental load Extended family members when you’re setting calmer, more sustainable boundaries We’ll explore: Why so many moms end up carrying the invisible labor of the holidays How to name a shared “holiday vision” so everyone’s experience (including yours!) matters Age-appropriate ways to bring your kids into the magic-making Language that shifts your partner from “helper” to true co-owner A simple 3-step weekly ritual to bring your family into team energy You are not meant to be the entire village. You’re allowed to be inside the magic you’re creating—not just behind the scenes. 🎧 Listen in and then try one single sentence from this episode with your family this week. Breaking the Trance of Unworthiness with Monica Rodgers

Breaking the Trance of Unworthiness with Monica Rodgers This conversation with Monica Rodgers cracked something open in me, and I have a feeling it’s going to do the same for you. Monica is a mentor, catalyst, and art-loving creatrix who talks about something she calls the “trance of unworthiness”—and wow, did I feel it in my body when she named it. We’re talking about all the tiny messages we get as girls and women that slowly teach us to doubt ourselves, shrink, and disconnect from our own truth. We also talk a lot about breath, the body, and how to start giving ourselves actual approval instead of waiting for it from everyone else. In this episode, we chat about: - What the trance of unworthiness is and how it can feel like “death by a thousand paper cuts” - How many of us were raised by wounded maidens (mothers who never got to fully become themselves) - Why girls often start dimming their light around ages 10–14 and what we can do differently now - The difference between keeping the peace and making peace (and why Monica loves irreverent, “oh hell no” women) - A super simple way to “microdose worthiness” with the phrases: “Thank you. It’s true.” “I approve.” - How to notice when you’ve literally stopped breathing freely, and what that says about your sense of safety - What it looks like to raise daughters (and sons) who trust themselves, even when it’s inconvenient for us as parents 🙃 Your Next Empowering Action: Put your hand on your heart and say: “I approve.” Even if you snapped this morning. Even if you didn’t get everything done. Even if you feel messy. Notice your breath. Are you breathing? Like really breathing? If not, can you soften your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and let a deeper breath in? These tiny moments are how we start to step out of the trance and back into our own lives. Mentioned in this episode: Monica’s Women’s Bill of Rights You can download it (and write your own) at: jointherevelation.com After you listen, send me a note and tell me: Where are you ready to stop living in the trance of unworthiness and start practicing “I approve”? 💛

Bringing Back Judgement, Guilt, and Shame

What if the emotions we've been taught to eliminate—judgment, guilt, and shame—are actually essential tools for raising grounded, accountable children? In this episode, I'm challenging the cultural narrative that says all judgment is bad, all guilt is toxic, and all shame is damaging. While anger, sadness, and offense are celebrated in our culture, we've made it taboo to discern right from wrong, to feel guilty when we've hurt someone, or to experience shame when we've crossed a moral line. But here's the truth, mama: without judgment, we can't guide. Without guilt, we lose empathy. Without shame, we abandon our moral compass. I'm breaking down why these three "negative" emotions are actually appropriate, necessary, and healthy—and how we can teach our children to use them as internal signals for growth, accountability, and integrity. In this episode, you'll learn: Why judgment is actually discernment—and why your child needs it to make good decisions How guilt promotes empathy, responsibility, and moral development Why shame isn't toxic when it's appropriate—and how it reinforces healthy boundaries The difference between being judgmental and having judgment (more on this in an upcoming episode!) How to create a family culture with clear values, expectations, and a moral compass—without becoming controlling or punitive Why swinging too far away from these emotions leaves our children searching for guidance This episode is for you if: You've been told never to let your child feel guilty or ashamed You're uncomfortable setting clear standards because you don't want to seem judgmental You want to raise accountable, empathetic children who can discern right from wrong You're ready to reclaim your role as a confident, values-driven leader in your home Resources Mentioned: Mother's Empowerment Sisterhood – My 12-month membership (IsabelleBridges.com/sisterhood) where we dive deep into creating a life with clear values, warm leadership, and empowered mothering. Parenting as Visionary Leadership

What if parenting isn’t just about getting through the day—but about shaping the leaders of tomorrow? In this episode of The Mother’s Empowerment Podcast, I share how I’ve come to see motherhood as visionary leadership. I open up about moments in my own parenting when I’ve felt exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure—and how those very moments became my teachers in what true leadership really is. I talk about the difference between weak, authoritarian, and visionary leadership, and how I’ve noticed each of these show up in my own home. I also share the simple practices I use to return to the kind of leadership I most want to embody for my children. In this episode, I’ll show you how I: ✨ Hold a bigger vision for my children, even when they can’t see it themselves ✨ Choose curiosity over control when challenges arise ✨ Model the values I want to pass on, even when I get it wrong first ✨ Remind myself that I am already the leader my family needs Parenting, to me, is so much more than managing behavior—it’s about inspiring confidence, vision, and resilience in the next generation. My hope is that you’ll leave this episode feeling empowered and encouraged to step into the visionary leader you already are. Come join me in person! On October 10–11, I’ll be hosting The Release and Resonate Retreat in Santa Barbara. This retreat is a sacred space for mothers to release what no longer serves and reconnect with the visionary leader within. When Mama Gets Triggered: A New Way to Think About Anger

Ever feel like you're about to completely lose it with your kids? In this episode, I'm sharing a game-changing reframe that's helped me and dozens of mamas in our community understand what's really happening when we get triggered - and what to do about it. Spoiler alert: it involves comparing being angry to being drunk, and it might just change everything for you. What You'll Learn: Why anger gets bigger and faster as we approach perimenopause (and what to do about it) The powerful reframe that compares being triggered to being intoxicated What's actually happening in your brain when you lose it with your kids Why anger is really a messenger from your body about unmet needs The one thing you absolutely MUST do when you're triggered (hint: it's not breathing exercises) How to teach your kids this same framework for managing their big emotions Why you don't actually need to discipline in the moment (and why waiting is better) Key Takeaways: 🧠 The Science Behind Getting Triggered: When we're angry, our amygdala (the emotional brain) takes over and our prefrontal cortex (the thinking brain) goes offline - just like when someone is intoxicated. This is why we say and do things we regret later. 💡 Anger as Messenger: Your anger is an indicator that you have a need that isn't being met. If you don't listen to this message and address the underlying need, the anger just gets louder. ⏸️ The Power of the Pause: Just like you wouldn't drive drunk, don't make parenting decisions when you're triggered. Take a break, let the anger pass, then address the situation from a calm place. 👶 Teaching Kids This Framework: Children aren't dogs - you can absolutely have important conversations later. Teaching them that "we don't talk when we're angry" is actually a beautiful life skill. Quotes from This Episode: "I've come to understand that my anger is actually a messenger from my body. It's an indicator that I have a need that isn't being met. And if I don't listen to it by getting that need met, it just gets louder." "I'm wise enough to know that I'm under the influence of anger right now, and having an important conversation is not an option." "You don't have to be the zen mama who never gets triggered. You just need to be a mama who knows what to do when you DO get triggered." As she entered this transitional phase herself, she quickly discovered a lack of clear, accessible information about the profound changes women experience during this time of their lives. I take care of my kids, my pets, my home... am I on the list?" - Isabelle Bridges "What happens to all the people that depend on you when you're not able to cope?" - Dyna Vink The Forgotten Fourth Archetype We discuss how women in perimenopause exist in an unnamed space - no longer the "mother" but certainly not the "crone." It can make you feel like you don’t measure up when you can’t or don’t 100% follow a particular philosophy. Some of these groups can be so judgmental and unsupportive when you don’t fully stick to their philosophy. There’s so much out there and it’s hard to decide what will work for you. The solution (and my philosophy): Empowerment Is An INSIDE Job. Someone may offer you an empowering solution. But if you don't take it- you won't feel empowered. We should feel good about the way that we live our lives and about who we are. No one benefits from you being a martyr (including your children). Not that it’s always easy. There are definitely hard times in parenting. But overall, you should not parent in a way that feels like constant suffering & misery. Design a life that you love. You could go through your entire life…many people have and are currently doing so…not enjoying life. Keep your cup full and spill out onto others. What would make parenting fun for you? Minimize/reduce/outsource as many of the negative things as possible.   You are not the roles you play! When you’re truly motivated from a place of love & care, you’ll find the right words & actions (vs. operating out of fear or anger). Holding your goodness to light. Self-compassion. Do things that are kind. Trust your intuition. Break down old paradigms. Keep it flexible enough and use as a clear guideline. It liberates you from attachment parenting or from mainstream parenting. PERMISSION to be uniquly you, permission to LOVE who you are.
