The Hidden Cost of Putting Everyone Else First

"What do you see as the most common theme behind people whose overwhelm culprit is conditioning?" This question came up during a private event Q&A — and the answer surprised the room. Because by far, the most common theme I see behind the Lack of Conditioning culprit isn't a lack of time. It's this: you care more about everyone else's wellbeing than your own. In this episode I'm sharing one of the most personal stories I've ever told on this show — what happened after I had my daughter, how I ended up on the verge of a mental breakdown in a moving car, and exactly what it took to turn it around. This one is raw. And I think a lot of you are going to recognize yourself in it.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why the most common conditioning theme isn't a time problem — it's a self-worth problem The generational reason women are wired to put everyone else first The hidden costs of chronic self-neglect — and why depletion makes you the bottleneck in every system The oxygen mask mindset shift — and the exact steps I took to implement it How to use boundaries to protect your self-care time when old routines creep back in   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode 01:00 — My personal story: postpartum, no sleep, and running on empty 04:00 — The near-breakdown that changed everything 06:00 — Why women are wired to put everyone else first 08:00 — The hidden costs of depletion 10:00 — The oxygen mask moment and what I did next 12:00 — Boundaries, accountability, and your next step   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. 10 Signs Someone Is Draining Your Energy

"How do you identify whether the people in your life are supporting your growth or draining your energy?" This question came up during a private event Q&A while I was leading an exercise on the Lack of Community Overwhelm Culprit — and it's one I hear constantly. Because it's all too common to be surrounded by people every single day and still feel completely alone, unsupported, and unenergized. Here's the truth: if the people around you aren't supporting your growth or giving you energy, you don't have a support team. You have a liability you can't afford to keep carrying. In this episode I'm walking you through the 10 signs someone is draining your energy — and exactly what to do about it.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why being surrounded by people doesn't mean you have the right support team What energy vampires are — and my personal experience navigating them after my divorce The 10 signs someone is draining your energy — and why these can show up in anyone: a spouse, family member, colleague, boss, or neighbor Three strategies for handling energy vampires depending on how close they are to you Why you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with — and what to do with that information   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode 00:30 — Why being surrounded by people doesn't mean you have the right support 01:00 — My personal story: the friends who left me more exhausted than before 02:30 — What energy vampires are — and where they show up 03:00 — The 10 signs someone is draining your energy 06:30 — Three strategies for handling energy vampires 08:00 — Recap: you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with 08:30 — The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Stop Measuring Your Worth by Your Productivity

"How do you stop tying self-worth to productivity?" This question came up during a private event Q&A while I was discussing the Lack of Confidence Overwhelm Culprit™ — and the timing couldn't have been better, because I had received the exact same question from a coaching client the day before. Here's the truth: this is not a productivity issue. It's a money mindset issue. And once I understood that, everything changed. In this episode I'm sharing exactly why this happens — including my own story — and the exact process I used to rewire it for good.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why tying self-worth to productivity is a money mindset issue — not a time management one My personal story and the unhealthy cycle that finally forced me to tackle the root cause The OCP process that changed everything: Origin Story, Connection to Sabotage, Pattern Interrupt My three origin stories — and how they were quietly running my behavior for years The specific affirmations I used to rewire it — including the one I didn't believe at first Why I am worthy — and so are you — simply for being who we are   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode 00:30 — Why this is a money mindset issue, not a productivity one 01:00 — My personal story: the unhealthy cycle after having my daughter 03:00 — Introducing the OCP process 04:00 — The three origin stories I traced this back to 06:00 — Connecting origin stories to sabotage 07:30 — The pattern interrupt: affirmations and the ThinkUp app 09:00 — What I ultimately learned about worth, time, and value 10:00 — Recap + free Overwhelm Culprit Quiz   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Why You Know What to Do But Still Can't Follow Through

"What do you do when you know what to do, but you still don't do it?" This one is personal. For years, people asked me to write a book — in keynote Q&As, in my DMs, even my therapist brought it up. I knew it was the next logical step. I even tried — courses, a book proposal, sample chapters, querying agents. And then I just... stopped. I knew what I needed to do. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. In this episode I'm breaking down exactly why this happens — and it's probably not the reason you think.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why knowing what to do and actually doing it are two completely different problems The two types of bottlenecks that keep high achievers stuck — and how to tell which one is yours How a strategy bottleneck can quietly turn into a fear-based one if it goes unaddressed My personal book-writing story: four years of dragging my feet — and what finally broke the pattern How to identify your fear-based bottleneck by asking one simple question The real fears I had about publishing my book — including imposter syndrome, judgment from family, and worrying my kids would read it Three tools for rewiring fear: affirmations, EFT, and taking mini actions The affirmation I used for a long time to rewire my imposter syndrome — and why it worked   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: what do you do when you know what to do but still can't follow through? 00:30 — It's not about knowing what to do — it's about identifying the bottleneck that's in the way 01:00 — My personal story: four years of knowing I needed to write a book — and not doing it 02:00 — The two types of bottlenecks: strategy-based and fear-based 03:00 — Signs you have a strategy-based bottleneck — and how to address it 03:30 — How I hired an author mentor to solve my strategy gap — and why putting money on the line helped me follow through 04:30 — How a strategy bottleneck can turn into a fear-based one — and what happened with my agent querying 05:00 — How to identify your fear-based bottleneck: what is the worst thing that can happen? 05:30 — My real fears about the book: judgment, my kids finding out, imposter syndrome, and burning out my agent opportunities 07:00 — Tool 1: Affirmations — reverse your fear and say it daily 07:15 — The affirmation I used to rewire imposter syndrome: "I belong among the famous thought leaders that inspire me" 07:30 — Tool 2: EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) — tapping to show your body it's safe 08:00 — Tool 3: Mini actions — small, manageable steps that build momentum toward the fear 08:30 — Recap: identify your bottleneck type, then address it specifically 09:00 — Take the free Overwhelm Culprit Quiz + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Stay Consistent When Life Feels Overwhelming

"How do you stay consistent when life is chaotic or overwhelming?" April 2026 was one of the most chaotic months of my life — right in the middle of my book launch ramp-up. My kids were out of school for ten days. I threw my back out and ended up on crutches and muscle relaxers. My uncle unexpectedly passed away. My husband ended up in the ER with a kidney stone. My daughter was in and out of urgent care. And my husband got word he'd be traveling out of state for work — leaving me as the sole caregiver. And through all of it, I still had a book to launch. In this episode I'm sharing the exact steps I took to keep things on track when my life was completely off track — and the framework you can use the next time everything goes sideways at once.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why staying consistent during a chaotic season isn't about doing all the things — it's about doing just the things that count The MVP (Minimum Viable Plan) approach to consistency — and why it's the only thing that works when life gets hard Step 1: Why notifying your support circle is the first and most important move you can make Step 2: How to eliminate everything that isn't absolutely necessary — and why moving things is not the same as losing them Step 3: How to protect the open space you've created — and why that buffer is what allows you to handle what you didn't see coming Why being vulnerable with your team about what's going on makes you a stronger leader, not a weaker one How I managed a book launch, a back injury, a family loss, a husband in the ER, and solo parenting — all in the same month   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you stay consistent when life is overwhelming? 00:30 — It's not about doing all the things — it's about doing the things that count 01:00 — My April 2026 story: the month everything went wrong during my book launch 03:00 — Introducing the MVP approach to consistency 03:30 — Step 1: Notify your support circle — and tell them exactly what you need 04:30 — How I went into asynchronous-only mode with my team the second my back gave out 05:30 — Step 2: Eliminate everything that isn't absolutely necessary 06:00 — What I protected: book launch tasks, journaling, and rest 06:30 — What I eliminated: meal prepping, exercise, and unnecessary meetings 07:30 — Why moving an opportunity is not the same as losing it 08:30 — Why I'm glad we cleared the calendar — and what it allowed me to handle 09:00 — Step 3: Protect your open space until the overwhelming season passes 09:30 — What naturally happened once the book launch was over 10:00 — Recap: notify, eliminate, protect 10:30 — The consistency chapter in The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Prioritize Your Health When Work Takes Over Your Life

"How can you prioritize health better when the main factor keeping you from it is work?" According to Mental Health America, the average person spends only 15 minutes a day on health-related self-care. And here's what I want you to know: keeping a consistent health and wellness routine has nothing to do with the amount of time you spend. It has everything to do with making the most of what you have. In this episode I'm sharing my personal MVP - Minimum Viable Plan - for health during the busiest, most financially stretched season of my life. And how you can build yours too.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why consistent health and wellness has nothing to do with time and everything to do with intention What the MVP (Minimum Viable Plan) is and why it's the only framework that works during a demanding season The five non-negotiable health areas every MVP must cover: hydration, sleep, nutrition, movement, and mental health Why taking care of your health doesn't have to cost money and the free options that actually work My personal MVP from the hardest season of my life newly divorced, commuting 20 hours a week, caring for an infant, and financially starting over Why you should be chasing minimums right now not maximums How to default back to your MVP when life gets hard again   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you prioritize health when work gets in the way? 00:30 — The stat that changes everything: people spend only 15 minutes a day on health self-care 02:00 — Introducing the MVP: your Minimum Viable Plan for physical and mental health 02:30 — The five non-negotiables: hydration, sleep, nutrition, movement and mental health 03:30 — Hydration - 60 ounces a day, two 30-ounce bottles, water is free 04:00 — Sleep - protecting six hours with a strict bedtime during infant stage 04:30 — Nutrition - a $20 monthly meal prep subscription that saved time and money 05:30 — Movement - parking farther away, a BOSU ball chair, a standing desk and eventually dance classes that solved two problems at once 07:00 — Mental health - weekly Zoom therapy and three minutes of morning meditation 08:00 — The mindset shift: you are not a bodybuilder right now. How to Support Someone Who's Overwhelmed

"What are some effective ways to become a supportive ally and help others overcome an Overwhelm Culprit™?" This question came up during a recent private event Q&A while I was facilitating my workshop and it's one I hear all the time. Because when someone we love is overwhelmed, most of us instinctively jump into problem-solving mode. And that's usually the last thing they actually need. Here's the truth: when someone is overwhelmed, they don't need solutions. They need support. The kind that's customized to what's actually keeping them stuck. In this episode, I'm breaking down exactly how to do that - culprit by culprit.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why jumping into solution mode is almost always the wrong move and what to do instead Why overwhelm is never a reflection of capability - it's a reflection of capacity How to customize your support based on which of the five Overwhelm Culprits™ your person is dealing with Specific, actionable ways to support someone through each culprit - from Clarity to Confidence to Community to Conditioning to Consistency Why suggesting specific help is always more effective than asking "what can I do?" Why respecting someone's boundaries is one of the most powerful forms of support you can offer   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — Why overwhelmed people need support, not solutions 02:30 — How to customize your support to the specific culprit 03:00 — Culprit 1: Lack of Clarity 04:30 — Culprit 2: Lack of Confidence 06:30 — Culprit 3: Lack of Community 08:00 — Culprit 4: Lack of Conditioning 09:30 — Culprit 5: Lack of Consistency 11:00 — Recap + free Overwhelm Culprit Quiz   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Take Risks When You Don't Fully Believe in Yourself Yet

"What are some of your favorite ways to overcome self-doubt or being scared of taking a risk?" This question came up during a private event Q&A while I was discussing the Lack of Confidence Overwhelm Culprit and it's one I hear constantly. Because so many high achievers hold themselves back from the exact move that would change everything, simply because they're afraid. Here's what I know for sure: if you don't take risks and do the things that make you uncomfortable, you'll never grow. And if you don't grow, nothing changes. In this episode I'm sharing my biggest risk-taking story - the $20,000 investment I made as a newly divorced single mom with a mortgage, almost no savings and everything on the line. And exactly how I made the decision to do it anyway.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why not every risk is worth taking and how to tell the difference before you leap My biggest personal risk-taking story: the $20,000 coaching investment I made when I had almost nothing and what happened 12 weeks later The three-step framework I use to turn a scary risk into a calculated one How to identify the best-case scenario and why this is more than just listing the positives How to identify the worst-case scenario and why it's almost never as devastating as you think Why having a Plan B changes everything about how a risk feels How to use your intuition as a data point and what your body is actually telling you when you feel relief vs. anxiety The signs I looked for that told me this investment was the right one to make Why most people overestimate how much others are watching if they fail What I learned about high-ticket sales, confidence and self-sabotage that changed the entire trajectory of my business   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you overcome self-doubt and take a risk? 00:30 — Why not every risk is worth taking and why calculated risks are different 01:00 — My risk-taking story: starting a business as a single mom with a mortgage and a six-month emergency fund 04:30 — Step 1: List out the pros - what does the best-case scenario actually look like? 07:00 — Step 2: List out the cons - what does the worst-case scenario actually look like? 10:00 — Step 3: Trust your intuition and learn to read what your body is telling you 14:00 — What this investment gave me: six years in business, high-ticket sales skills, confidence and clarity 15:30 — Full recap: how to make a calculated risk when you don't fully believe in yourself yet 16:00 — Take the free Overwhelm Culprit Quiz + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Do Vision Boards Actually Work? Here's My Honest Experience

"How much of your vision board actually came true? Can you talk more about visualization?" Every single thing I've ever put on my vision board has come true. And I realize that sounds like a bold claim - but I'm going to show you exactly why it happens and more importantly, how to make it happen for you too. Why Your Schedule Isn't Working (It's Not a Time Problem)

"How do you find a schedule to balance work, working out, and family?" This question came up during a recent private event Q&A and I hear it constantly. And every single time, I want to say the same thing: you're solving the wrong problem. Your schedule isn't broken. Your capacity is maxed out. And no amount of calendar management will fix a life that's already filled to capacity. In this episode I'm walking you through the five things you actually need to look at and the exact process I use with my coaching clients to get their time and energy back.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why work-life balance is not a scheduling problem - it's a capacity problem Why you can't out-schedule a life that's already at maximum capacity What season of life you're currently in and why it changes everything about how you should be operating The difference between male and female energetics and how to plan your schedule around your natural energy flow Why a time audit is the non-negotiable first step and exactly how to do one in 15-minute increments How to run your time data through a capacity filter: eliminate, automate, systemize, delegate and defer How to set boundaries that protect your time - for yourself and for others The free time tracking resource I use with my clients My Capacity Clarity Hour workshop - a step-by-step process to identify your capacity and build a better schedule in under 60 minutes   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you balance work, working out and family? 00:30 — Why this isn't a calendar problem - it's a capacity problem 01:30 — We all have the same 168 hours. Here's why that matters. 02:00 — Why feeling disbalanced comes from prioritizing time for others over yourself 02:30 — Step 1: What season of life are you currently in? 03:00 — The four seasons framework and why you can't harvest without rest 03:30 — How my recent book launch season was a perfect example of a summer season 04:30 — Step 2: How does your energy flow on a daily or monthly basis? 05:00 — Male energetics: the 24-hour cycle and the standard workday 05:30 — Female energetics: the 28-day cycle and what it means for your schedule 06:30 — Step 3: Do a time audit - track everything in 15-minute increments for one week 07:00 — My personal story: doing my first time audit before having a baby as an SVP 07:30 — What I found: an hour a day on social media I didn't even realize I was spending 08:00 — Step 4: Analyze your data and run it through the capacity filter 08:30 — Eliminate: what can go out the window entirely? 09:00 — Automate: what can AI and tech tools handle for you? 09:15 — Systemize: what repeatable processes could you build out? 09:30 — Delegate: who else could handle this - at work, at home, in life? 10:00 — Defer: what isn't urgent and can be parked for later? 10:30 — Step 5: Set boundaries to protect the time you've freed up 11:00 — How I use the Brick app to set literal boundaries around social media 11:15 — How to set boundaries with the people in your life to protect your priorities 11:30 — Full recap: the five-step capacity framework 12:30 — The Capacity Clarity Hour instant access workshop + free time tracking resource   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️  Capacity Clarity Hour Instant Access Workshop: https://corrielo.com/capacityclarityhour ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. High Achiever Hobbies: Why You Have No Life Outside of Work

"How do you find other outlets when you've always been a high performer? I've never developed hobbies or ideas outside of building my career." This question came up during a recent private event Q&A and the entire room nodded along. And honestly? I felt it too. Here's the truth: it's not about having hobbies for the sake of self-care. It's about finding what fulfills you and what restores you, and those are two very different things. In this episode I'm walking you through the exact questions I use to figure out whether you even need hobbies to begin with and how to find the right ones if you do.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why hobbies feel so hard for high performers and why that makes complete sense Why the need to always be productive can be a trauma response and my personal experience with this Why loving your work so much it doesn't feel like work can actually be a hobby in disguise Why you might not need hobbies at all and how to know for sure The four questions I use to figure out what actually fulfills and restores you What activities energize you versus what activities wind you down and why both matter equally Why looking back at what you loved as a kid is one of the most powerful clues for what you need now How to figure out whether you need solo, introspective hobbies or connection-based ones How to identify whether your current work and life are already checking all the boxes My personal list of hobbies - from salsa dancing to cello to stop-motion Barbie videos - and what each season of my life needed   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you find hobbies when you've always been a workaholic? 00:30 — Why it's not about hobbies for the sake of self-care - it's about fulfillment and restoration 01:00 — Why hobbies feel so difficult for high performers to engage with 02:00 — Why the need to always be productive can be a trauma response and my personal story 03:00 — Why loving your work so much it doesn't feel like work means your work might actually be your hobby 04:00 — The only time having no hobbies is actually a problem 04:30 — Question 1: What activities excite you and bring you energy today? 05:00 — My personal energy list: fitness, cooking, dancing and music 06:00 — Question 2: What activities calm you and reset your energy? 06:30 — My personal restoration list: reading, puzzles, coloring, drawing, beach, meditation 08:00 — Question 3: What activities did you love as a kid? 08:30 — My childhood list: sports, drawing, making videos, playing cello and piano 09:30 — Question 4: What relationships do you miss or crave building again? 10:00 — Why right now I crave solo hobbies and why my husband craves his bowling league 10:30 — How to figure out whether you need people-focused or introspective hobbies 11:00 — How do these activities fit into your work and life today? 12:00 — Why salsa dancing was the perfect hobby for me as a new single mom in corporate 13:00 — Recap: the full framework for figuring out whether you need hobbies and which ones 13:30 — How to grab The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Build a Support System When You Feel Like You Have No One

Most high performers don't lose their community. They outgrow it. After my divorce, I found myself a newly single mom of a five-month-old in a brand-new neighborhood on Long Island - two counties and a 45-minute train ride away from every friend and every person who had ever supported me. And not one of them understood abuse, divorce or single motherhood. I wasn't lacking people. I was lacking the right people for the season of life I was in. In this episode, I'm sharing exactly how I built my community from scratch - including the Facebook group story that started it all and the step-by-step framework you can use to do the same, even if you're an introvert or ambivert like me. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why most high performers don't lose their community - they outgrow it My personal story of starting over on Long Island after leaving an abusive marriage and how a random Facebook post changed everything Why community isn't something you find - it's something you build Why getting specific about what you need is the fastest way to build the right community How to identify exactly who you need more of in your life right now Why your support system doesn't always have to be free and why that's perfectly okay Real examples of what community building looks like after a loss, a promotion or having a baby How to network strategically - not broadly - to find the right people for the life you're building Why following up within a week is the difference between a connection and a missed opportunity How to nurture relationships so they become win-wins for everyone involved How to know when it's time to outgrow a relationship and why that's healthy TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you build a community when you don't have one? 00:30 — Why most high performers outgrow their community rather than lose it 01:00 — My personal story: newly single mom, new neighborhood, zero community 02:00 — Why having people around you isn't the same as having the right people 03:00 — The Facebook group story: how one comment changed everything 05:00 — How the South Shore Single Moms group grew from beach meetups to wine tours and big events 05:45 — What that community did for me when I was burning out from a 20-hour weekly commute 06:00 — Community isn't found. It's built. 06:30 — Why getting specific about your needs is the fastest path to the right community 07:00 — How to think about your personal board of advisors and who fills those roles 07:30 — Why your support system can include people you pay and why that's not a cop-out 08:00 — What community building looks like after losing a loved one 09:00 — What community building looks like after a big promotion 09:30 — What community building looks like after having a baby 11:00 — How to network strategically online groups, in-person events, associations and more 12:00 — Why following up within a week is non-negotiable 12:30 — How to build and nurture relationships that are win-wins for everyone 13:00 — Full recap: how to find your people and build your circle from scratch 13:30 — How to grab The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Get Promoted Without Feeling Like You're Bragging

So many high performers - especially women - stay stuck watching less qualified people get promoted. Not because they aren't ready. But because they're waiting for their work to speak for itself. Here's the truth: your work gets you credibility. But visibility is what gets you promoted. This question came up during one of my Overwhelm Culprit™ workshops and it's one I hear constantly. In this episode, I'm sharing the exact three-part framework I use with my coaching and advisory clients to help them secure a promotion - without feeling like they're bragging.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why your work alone won't get you promoted and what actually will Why nearly half of all workers have made it known they don't want promotions and why that works in your favor What the 150% rule is and why you need to know it before you pursue a promotion My three-part Data, Communication, and Visibility framework for securing a promotion What data to collect, how to track it and why it's not bragging when it's backed by proof How to use the Simone Biles mindset when it comes to advocating for yourself Why you should be researching roles at other companies - even if you don't plan to apply How to bring up your desire for a promotion in one-on-ones without it feeling awkward The difference between a mentor and a sponsor and why a sponsor is the one who gets you promoted Why visibility isn't about being everywhere - it's about being seen by the right people Why confidence is the foundation of all of this and how the framework helps you build it   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you self-promote for a promotion? 00:30 — Why high performers stay stuck waiting for their work to speak for itself 01:00 — Why visibility - not performance - is what gets you promoted 01:15 — The stat that changes everything: nearly half of all workers don't even want a promotion 01:30 — The 150% rule: what it is and why it matters before you pursue a promotion 02:00 — If you're already doing the work but not getting recognized - here's why 02:30 — Introduction to the Data, Communication and Visibility framework 03:00 — Data: what to track, how to document it and why impact matters more than activity 03:45 — Why it's not bragging if it's proven data - the Simone Biles quote that says it all 04:30 — How to use your data to prove you already meet the 150% rule 04:45 — Why researching roles at other companies gives you objective market data 05:30 — Communication: how to make your wins known in meetings and one-on-ones 06:00 — How to proactively bring up your career progression - without waiting for your boss to do it 06:30 — How to ask your boss exactly what measurable results are needed for a promotion 07:00 — Visibility: why it's about being seen by the right people - not just being everywhere 07:15 — How to secure a sponsor who will bring your name up in rooms you're not in 07:45 — How to build relationships with decision makers - virtually or in person 08:00 — The underrated visibility tip nobody talks about: dress for the role you want 08:15 — Why applying to roles at other organizations gives you options and leverage 08:45 — Full recap of the Data, Communication and Visibility framework 09:30 — Why confidence is the real foundation - and how this framework helps you build it 10:00 — How to grab The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Figure Out Your Values When Nothing Feels Clear

If every decision feels harder than it should - or you keep making choices that look right on paper but feel completely off - there's a good chance you don't know your personal values. Or more likely, you do know them. You've just been overriding them. This question came up during a private event Q&A while I was leading a values exercise, and it's one I hear all the time: what do you do when you can't define your values? In this episode, I'm walking you through exactly how to identify yours - and how to use them as a tool to lead, decide, and set boundaries with so much more ease.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why not knowing your values leads to reduced performance, poor decision making, and lowered motivation Why most people don't actually need to find their values - they just need to stop overriding them Why values are the most powerful tool for alignment - in your career, your relationships, and your community How personal values work as a decision-making filter - and why they make the hard calls so much easier How values make it easier to set and hold boundaries with confidence The difference between your intuition and your ego - and why it matters when selecting your values How to use my 105-value worksheet to identify your top four personal values today Why your values today may look completely different than they did five or ten years ago - and why that's perfectly normal How to pressure test your values by running real decisions through them Why you don't need to get this perfect the first time - and how to know when you've got the right ones   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: what do you do when you can't define your values? 00:30 — Why the real problem usually isn't that you don't know your values - it's that you're overriding them 01:00 — Why values and leadership go hand in hand 01:30 — How values help you find the right organization, community, and people to surround yourself with 02:00 — Why values are the easiest way to make difficult decisions 02:30 — Why values make setting boundaries so much easier 03:00 — My personal values: family, career, health, and travel 03:30 — How to use the 105-value worksheet to identify your top four 04:00 — Why this process can feel overwhelming - and how to take the pressure off 04:30 — Why your values shift over time - and my personal example of how mine changed after becoming a parent 05:00 — The intuition vs. ego framework: how to tell which voice to listen to when selecting your values 06:00 — How to use intuition as your filter - and why ego gets in the way 06:30 — How to pressure test your values by running decisions through them 07:30 — Recap: why values are a non-negotiable leadership skill 08:00 — How to get started today - and a reminder that you can always change your values as you grow 08:30 — How to grab The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Discover Your Values Worksheet: http://www.corrielo.com/episode-63 ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack:https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. The 5 Overwhelm Culprits™️ | What I Got Wrong the First Time

After my TEDx talk in 2020, I said something on stage that I no longer believe to be true. I said that I never felt overwhelmed. Looking back - that wasn't accurate. I just didn't recognize how it was showing up for me. And that's exactly the problem with high performers. We don't think we're overwhelmed. We think we're just pushing through. In this episode, I'm setting the record straight on what I got wrong about overwhelm and what I know now that changes everything.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: What I said in my TEDx talk that I no longer believe - and why it matters Why high performers are often the last to recognize they're overwhelmed The three things I got completely wrong about overwhelm when I first built this framework Why overwhelm doesn't always look like chaos - and what it actually looks like in high performers Why awareness alone is not enough to fix overwhelm Why overwhelm is not a personal problem - it's a capacity and systems problem A full breakdown of all Five Overwhelm Culprits™ and how each one keeps you stuck Why high performers don't slow down when overwhelmed - they push harder, and why that's where the real problem starts Why overwhelm doesn't go away because life gets easier - it goes away when your strategy matches your reality What actually needs to change to fix overwhelm for good   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — What I got wrong in my 2020 TEDx talk about overwhelm 01:00 — Where the Five Overwhelm Culprits™ framework came from - and the personal story behind it 02:00 — How I was experiencing overwhelm without recognizing it 03:00 — The three things I believed about overwhelm that turned out to be wrong 04:00 — Why overwhelm isn't always chaos - it can look like over-functioning and emotional numbness 05:00 — Why awareness without the right systems doesn't actually change anything 05:30 — Why overwhelm is a capacity and systems problem - not a time management problem 06:30 — A full breakdown of the Five Overwhelm Culprits™: Clarity, Confidence, Community, Conditioning and Consistency 08:00 — Why high performers push harder instead of slowing down — and why that's where it gets dangerous 08:30 — What "feeling weird" actually means - and why overwhelm doesn't always feel like stress 09:00 — How my life changed after the TEDx - and what I learned navigating it through the framework 10:00 — The real fix: changing your strategy to match your current reality 10:30 — How to grab The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ book + ways to work with Corrie   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. The Real Reason Your Habits Aren't Sticking (And What to Do Instead)

How many times have you committed to a new habit, given it everything you had - and then watched it fall apart? And then told yourself you just weren't disciplined enough? I've been there. And I want to set the record straight: it is not a discipline problem. The real reason your habits aren't sticking is because you're treating behavior change like a one-time decision instead of an ongoing experiment. In this episode, I'm breaking down what the data actually says about habit formation - and the simple framework I use to build habits that actually stick.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: The real reason your habits aren't sticking - and why it has nothing to do with discipline Why 40–43% of our daily behaviors run on autopilot and what that means for behavior change The actual data on habit formation - and why the "21 days" rule is completely wrong Why struggling with consistency isn't the exception - it's the norm, and the numbers back it up Why you need to stop treating habit change like a one-time decision and start treating it like an experiment How to identify the specific pattern you're trying to change How to run a small, controlled test instead of overhauling your entire life at once The five things to observe when your habit starts to break down: time, energy, environment, boundaries and support My personal case study: how I finally got consistent with working out after years of experimenting Why consistency isn't repetition - it's refinement   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you stay consistent with deep-rooted patterns? 00:45 — Why this is so hard: 40–43% of daily behaviors run on autopilot 01:30 — The data on behavior change: why 88% of people fail to maintain new habits 02:00 — The truth about habit formation: it takes 59–100+ days, not 21 02:30 — You're not failing - you're quitting right before your brain catches up 03:00 — The real reason your habits aren't sticking: you're not experimenting enough 03:30 — How entrepreneurs approach failure - and what it teaches us about habit change 04:00 — Step 1: Identify the specific pattern you want to change 04:30 — Step 2: Run a small, controlled test 05:00 — Step 3: Observe what breaks - time, energy, environment, boundaries, support 06:30 — Step 4: Adjust the variable that failed - don't abandon the habit 07:00 — Step 5: Repeat the process until it becomes autopilot 07:30 — My personal workout habit case study: what finally worked after years of experimenting 08:00 — Recap: consistency is refinement, not repetition 08:30 — Ways to work with Corrie + pre-order The Five Overwhelm Culprits™   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Preorder my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. How to Reset Your Life in 30 Days (My "Month of Me" Framework)

Have you ever stood somewhere beautiful - truly present for the first time in what feels like forever - and thought, why don't I have this every single day? That's exactly what happened to me at a lighthouse in Portland. I was on vacation, my son strapped to my chest, salty breeze on my face - and for the first time in years after a high-conflict divorce and what felt like one crisis after another, I was actually there. Mentally present. And it stopped me in my tracks. What I realized in that moment changed everything: every yes I had been giving to everyone else was a no to myself. To my peace. To my presence. To my health. So I went home and launched a 30-day experiment I now call the Month of Me™ - and it was one of the most transformational things I've ever done. The habits I built during that first Month of Me™? I still use them today, over eight years later. If you're constantly saying yes to everyone else and no to yourself, struggling to feel present, or just know your self-care is running on fumes - this episode is your starting point. By the end, you'll have a simple, completely customizable 30-day framework to start saying yes to you.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: The lighthouse moment that sparked the Month of Me™ - and the realization that changed how I approach everything Why every yes to someone else is quietly becoming a no to yourself How to rate your mental and physical health across five key areas so you know exactly where to start How to use the 7-step Month of Me™ framework to build a plan that's completely customized to you How to identify your roadblocks before they derail you - and set boundaries to protect your 30 days What to do when some things work and some things don't - and how to keep pivoting until you find what sticks How to access the Month of Me™ AI companion tool on my website to build your own custom plan   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: how do you start a Month of Me™ ? 01:00 — The lighthouse moment: standing present for the first time in years 02:30 — The realization: every yes to others was a no to myself 03:30 — How the Month of Me™ was born - and the Facebook announcement that kicked it off 04:30 — Step 1: Rate your mental and physical health on a scale of 1–10 05:30 — The three areas I focused on first - and why I kept it to three 06:00 — Step 2: List out what's not working - these become your no's 07:00 — Step 3: List out what's worked before - these become your yes's 07:45 — Step 4: Map your self-care commitments onto your calendar 08:30 — Step 5: Identify your roadblocks and set boundaries around them 09:30 — Step 6: Try it for 30 days and see what changes 10:00 — Step 7: Pivot back to the framework and keep refining 11:00 — The Month of Me™ AI companion tool + ways to work with me   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Pre-order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Month of Me™ AI companion: https://corrielo.com/product/month-of-me-method-ai-companion/ ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Feeling Like You're Failing at Everything? Start This Conversation

"Currently feeling like I'm failing in all aspects of my life. I'm looking for conversation starters from my spouse." This wasn't even a question - it was a statement someone shared during a recent private event Q&A. And honestly? I felt seen just reading it. I've been there. More than once. The truth is, when you're feeling like you're failing at everything, the last thing you want to do is have a big, heavy, "we need to talk" conversation. But staying silent and carrying it alone isn't the answer either. What you actually need is a safe, low-pressure way to let someone in - so you can get the support you deserve without it turning into a defensive spiral. In this episode, I'm sharing the exact conversation scripts I wish I'd had during some of the hardest seasons of my life - from leaving an abusive marriage as a new single mom, to navigating the jump from one kid to two, to figuring out how to ask for help without feeling like a burden. These are practical, ready-to-use prompts you can bring to your partner, your family or anyone in your support system - tonight if you need to. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why feeling like you're failing at everything is usually not failure at all - and what it's actually telling you Why I felt like I was failing three separate times in my life, and what they all had in common How to open a vulnerable conversation without triggering defensiveness or making it feel like a crisis Scripts for naming your feelings without self-attacking or trauma dumping on the people you love How to get clear on what kind of support you actually need - and how to ask for it directly Why "I feel like I'm failing at everything" is too vague to be helpful - and how to make it specific How to invite your partner or support person into the conversation as a teammate, not a fixer The step nobody teaches: how to close the loop so the conversation doesn't end on a heavy note How this connects to the Lack of Community Overwhelm Culprit™ from my upcoming book, The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The audience statement that sparked this episode 00:45 — Who I am and what I do 01:00 — The three times I felt like I was failing - and what they all had in common 01:45 — Why this is really a Lack of Community Overwhelm Culprit™ issue 02:15 — Don't start with a heavy conversation - start with a safe one 02:30 — Gentle openers: low-pressure scripts to start the conversation 03:30 — How to name your feelings without spiraling or self-attacking 04:30 — Creating clarity around what kind of support you need 05:00 — Scripts to direct your partner without shutting them down 05:30 — Inviting partnership: shifting from "I'm failing" to "we're a team" 06:00 — Making it specific: breaking down what's actually weighing on you 06:45 — Closing the loop so the conversation ends in connection, not heaviness 07:30 — Recap of all the scripts and steps 08:00 — My book The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ - launching May 12th, available for pre-order in the show notes NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Preorder my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. The Real Reason Women Don't Ask for Help - and How to Change It

You're capable. You're competent. You handle everything - and everyone around you knows it. So why does asking for help feel so impossible? This episode was inspired by a real question from a recent private event Q&A, and honestly? My first thought when I heard it was this is me. If you're a high-performing woman who struggles to ask for help - or you love and support one - you're going to want to stick around for this one. Because the reason this happens isn't a personal failing. It goes way deeper than that. We're talking social conditioning, hyper-independence, performance bias in the workplace, and the very real fear of being seen as a burden. By the end of this episode, you'll know exactly why this happens and what to do about it - whether you're the one who needs help asking, or the one who wants to show up better for the women in your life.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why high-performing women are the least likely to ask for help - and why it makes total sense when you understand the psychology behind it The role social conditioning and hyper-independence play in making asking for help feel unsafe Why the workplace makes this even harder - and the real data behind why women feel they have to be superwomen to prove they belong Corrie's personal experience navigating this in her own marriage after four years as a single mother Step-by-step strategies for her: how to identify the root of your fear, reframe your beliefs, and build confidence through small asks Tools like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and affirmations to help rewire the thought patterns keeping you stuck Step-by-step strategies for supporters: how to make it easier for the women in your life to actually say yes to help - without adding to her mental load Why "what can I do to help?" isn't as helpful as you think - and what to say instead The A-to-Z rule: why half-helping isn't helping at all   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 — The question that sparked this episode: why women don't ask for help 01:00 — High-performing women and the "I've got it all together" default 01:30 — Social conditioning, hyper-independence, and the fear of being a burden 02:45 — Why asking for help feels like admitting failure - and why it's actually a strategy for success 03:00 — The workplace piece: performance bias, male-dominated industries, and proving you belong 03:45 — Corrie's personal story: what happened after she got married and stopped doing everything alone 05:00 — Steps for her: how to start feeling safe enough to ask for help 06:30 — Identifying the root of your fear and where it came from 07:00 — Tools to release and reframe: EFT, affirmations, and the Think Up app 08:00 — Starting with small asks and building your confidence over time 08:45 — Steps for supporters: how to show up for the women in your life 09:30 — Why reaffirming that it's safe to ask matters more than you think 09:45 — The biggest shift: suggesting specific help instead of asking an open-ended question 11:00 — The A-to-Z rule: complete what you offer, start to finish 12:30 — Full recap and action steps for both sides 13:30 — Corrie's book, The Five Overwhelm Culprits™, launching May 12, 2026 - link in show notes   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ pre-order my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. What to Do When You're So Burnt Out You Can't Even Start

If you've ever felt so burnt out that you can't even start… this episode is for you. I'm answering a real audience question from someone who said, "I'm completely burnt out from all of it. Where do I even begin?" And if you've been there, you know - it's not just overwhelm. It's that frozen, stuck feeling where you know what you should do… but your body just won't let you move. In this episode, I'm breaking down what's actually happening (hint: it's not a personal failure - it's neurobiology), and I'm walking you through the exact 4-step process I used to move from complete shutdown to rebuilding momentum. I'll also share the simple mindset shift that helped me get out of negative thought loops and start seeing progress again - without forcing toxic positivity. If you're ready to go from stuck → supported → in motion again, this is your next step. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why burnout can lead to "functional freeze" (and why it's not your fault) The real reason "take it day by day" feels impossible when you're overwhelmed The 4 simple steps I used to move out of burnout and back into momentum How to create space without feeling like you're falling behind The power of asking for support (and why it's only temporary) How to shift from future-focused pressure to day-by-day progress A simple gratitude challenge that actually works - even when everything feels heavy How to break negative thought loops and start rebuilding positivity naturally TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – The audience question: I'm so burnt out, where do I even begin? 01:00 – My personal experience with burnout, grief, and complete shutdown 02:00 – What "functional freeze" actually is and why it happens 03:00 – Why "take it day by day" feels so hard for high performers 03:30 – Step 1: Accept where you are and create space to recover 04:30 – Step 2: Engage your support circle (and why it's temporary) 05:30 – Step 3: How to actually implement "day by day" thinking 07:30 – When your momentum starts coming back (and what that means) 08:00 – Step 4: Breaking negative thought loops with a simple mindset shift 08:30 – The gratitude challenge that changed everything for me 10:30 – How your brain starts rewiring toward positivity 11:00 – Recap of the 4-step process 12:30 – How I went from burnout to a complete life shift 13:30 – How to go deeper + where to get more support NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Preorder my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Why I Wrote The 5 Overwhelm Culprits™

I get asked all the time why I decided to write a book - and the truth is, it wasn't part of my original plan. In this episode, I'm sharing the real story behind The 5 Overwhelm Culprits™ - including the personal experiences that led me here, the gap I saw in the market and why this message is more important now than ever before. This isn't just about writing a book. It's about answering a call to lead, creating solutions where none existed and helping women increase their capacity so they don't have to choose between success and their sanity. If you've ever felt overwhelmed trying to balance your life and your leadership goals, this episode will show you why that feeling isn't a failure - it's a signal. And more importantly, what we can do about it. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why I never set out to write a book - and what changed The personal crisis that forced me to find solutions that didn't exist The massive gap between personal development and leadership advice Why overwhelm for working women is worse today than it was 10 years ago The data and real-life experiences that prove this isn't just "in your head" How audience demand and real conversations pushed me to finally write the book Why burnout advice isn't working for high-performing women The difference between burnout recovery and building capacity How increasing women in leadership roles creates systemic change The deeper mission behind this book - and who I really wrote it for TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – Why I get asked about writing a book (and the unexpected truth) 01:00 – Who I am and what I do 01:30 – Reason #1: I needed this book 10 years ago - and it didn't exist 02:00 – Navigating personal crisis while leading at a high level 03:00 – The gap between personal and professional development 04:00 – How I built my own solutions (and the Overwhelm Culprits™ framework) 05:30 – Reason #2: Why the timing is right now 06:00 – What I learned from interviewing 100+ working moms 06:30 – The reality of women in the workforce today (stats + trends) 08:00 – Childcare, workload imbalance and why women are leaving the workforce 09:00 – Why overwhelm is worse now than it was a decade ago 10:00 – Reason #3: People started asking me for the book 11:00 – How demand validated the need for this message 12:00 – Answering the call to serve at a bigger level 12:30 – Reason #4: Why current advice isn't working 13:00 – Burnout recovery vs. building capacity 14:00 – Why "just rest" isn't realistic for ambitious women 14:30 – The bigger mission: getting more women into leadership 15:00 – Changing systems by increasing capacity - not stepping back 16:00 – The personal reason I dedicated this book to my children 17:00 – Recap of the four reasons I wrote the book 18:00 – New content direction: answering your real questions 19:00 – How to connect, ask questions, and pre-order the book NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Preorder my book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. The Hidden Cost of Keeping Everything in Your Head

If you feel overwhelmed, inconsistent, or constantly behind - even when you're working hard - the real issue may not be your workload. It may be the mental load you're carrying. In this episode, I break down the hidden cognitive cost of trying to manage everything in your head and why so many high performers unknowingly sabotage their clarity, decision-making and consistency because of it. I share a personal story from early in my corporate career when I experienced a panic attack from trying to mentally track too many responsibilities and the powerful productivity principle that helped me change everything. You'll also learn why overwhelm is often a systems problem, not a personal flaw, what's actually happening in your brain when you carry too many open loops, and the simple first step you can take today to reduce cognitive overload and create more clarity.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why overwhelm is often a systems problem, not a personal flaw The hidden cognitive cost of managing everything mentally How cognitive overload impacts decision-making and consistency The productivity principle that changed how I manage responsibilities How a simple brain dump can instantly reduce mental load   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – Why overwhelm isn't always about workload 00:41 – The hidden cognitive cost of keeping everything in your head 01:11 – My early corporate career panic attack and what triggered it 02:17 – Realizing overwhelm is a systems problem 02:33 – The principle from Getting Things Done that changed everything 03:11 – What happens in your brain during cognitive overload 03:52 – The power of a brain dump 04:32 – Why high performers struggle with consistency 04:55 – Why clarity requires systems, not willpower 05:35 – Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz™ to identify what's driving your overwhelm NEXT STEP OPTIONS:  ✔️ Getting Things Done: https://amzn.to/3N919Hk ✔️ Preorder my book: https://corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook/ ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Your Nervous System Is Leading Your Decisions (Not Your Mindset)

What if the reason you can't move forward isn't your mindset - but your nervous system? In this episode, I explain how your nervous system drives many of your leadership decisions before your brain ever gets involved. I share a personal story about experiencing nervous system shutdown after a traumatic loss and why high achievers often try to push through overwhelm instead of addressing what their body actually needs. If you've ever thought, "I know what I should do, but I just can't do it," this conversation will help you understand why. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why leadership decisions are often driven by your nervous system How survival mode shows up as overworking, avoidance or decision paralysis What happens in your brain when your nervous system feels threatened Why high achievers are conditioned to override their bodies The difference between a decision problem and a nervous system problem Why regulation must come before clarity TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Why your nervous system is driving your leadership decisions 00:23 Why mindset, discipline and motivation aren't the real issue 01:05 The difference between feeling safe vs. threatened in your nervous system 01:36 My personal experience after losing a loved one to suicide 02:33 Why high achievers often override their nervous system 03:00 What happens in your brain when your system enters survival mode 03:38 How dysregulation shows up in leadership decisions 04:02 The leadership reframe: regulation comes before clarity 04:35 Why lack of conditioning contributes to overwhelm 05:00 A simple question to ask when you feel stuck 05:24 Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz and closing thoughts NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Why Your Support System Stopped Working at This Level

Have you ever looked around and realized you don't feel supported anymore? Not because people don't care - but because the support that once worked no longer fits the level you're operating at now. In this episode, I break down one of the most overlooked causes of burnout: unsupported pressure. High performers don't burn out from responsibility. They burn out from carrying elevated responsibility without aligned support. The Real Reason You Second-Guess Every Decision (It's Not Confidence)

In this episode, I break down the real reason you second-guess yourself - and it's not from a lack of confidence! I share a personal story about a time I knew something wasn't right in my life but delayed making a decision because I was afraid of the consequences of being wrong. What I've learned and what I see with so many high-performing women, is that second-guessing is rooted in CONDITIONING. We're taught to prioritize how our decisions will be perceived instead of trusting our inner knowing. I'll walk you through the difference between confidence and self-trust, how validation-seeking erodes clarity, and the one question you can ask yourself to stop outsourcing your decisions and start leading from within. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why second-guessing is actually a validation issue - not a confidence issue How early conditioning trains high-performing women to prioritize perception over intuition The difference between doubting your intuition and fearing the consequences of trusting it Why visibility and leadership raise the emotional stakes of decision-making How gender conditioning impacts our tolerance for being wrong The dangerous cycle of outsourcing your decisions for external reassurance The real definition of confidence (hint: it's self-trust under risk) A powerful question to ask yourself when you feel stuck How to rebuild self-trust without waiting for certainty TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – The moment I realized second-guessing wasn't about confidence 00:47 – Why high-performing women struggle to trust themselves 01:06 – How we're conditioned to prioritize perception over truth 01:36 – My postpartum experience and knowing something wasn't aligned 02:36 – The fear of being wrong and "blowing up" my life 03:36 – The key distinction: I didn't doubt my intuition - I feared the consequences 04:04 – Why high performers struggle with decisions more than anyone else 04:38 – Waiting for certainty and outsourcing your truth 05:00 – How gender conditioning shapes validation-seeking 05:26 – The Britney Spears vs. Charlie Sheen example and cultural double standards 06:42 – Why being wrong doesn't feel safe for women 07:02 – How validation-seeking erodes intuition 07:20 – Confidence vs. self-trust 07:43 – The one question to ask when you're stuck 08:06 – About my upcoming book, The Five Overwhelm Culprits™ 08:24 – Take the free Overwhelm Culprit Quiz and next steps NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. Why High Performers Lose Clarity First (It's Not What You Think)

You can be incredibly clear and still have no idea where you're actually going. In this episode, I break down why high performers lose clarity first - and it's not because they're failing, it's because they're succeeding without pause. When you're capable, trusted and productive, speed creates the illusion of certainty and you stop questioning your direction. I share a personal story from one of the hardest seasons of my life and the quiet moment that made me realize I had been reacting instead of choosing. If you've ever felt accomplished but disconnected, productive but exhausted, this episode will help you understand why clarity fades in momentum - and how to get it back.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why clarity loss in high performers doesn't look like confusion - it looks like productivity How speed pushes you into execution mode without reflection Why "I don't have time to think" is a capacity issue, not a discipline problem The subtle signs you're leading reactively instead of intentionally Why clarity isn't a one-time breakthrough but an ongoing practice that requires space and structure   TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 – The surprising reason high performers lose clarity 01:00 – Why success (not failure) is often the real trigger 02:00 – My post-divorce season: rebuilding fast, functioning at a high level 03:00 – The Portland lighthouse moment that changed everything 04:00 – Busy, capable, and not actually choosing 05:00 – Adrenaline, execution mode, and the illusion of control 06:00 – Why high performers become the default decision-makers 07:00 – "I don't have time to think" - what that really means 08:00 – How clarity quietly erodes and what grounded leadership actually requires 09:00 – How to take the next step and reclaim your clarity   NEXT STEP OPTIONS: ✔️ Preorder my Book: http://www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculpritbook ✔️ Take the Overwhelm Culprit Quiz: www.corrielo.com/overwhelmculprit ✔️ Connect with Me on Social: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/iamcorrielo Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/iamcorrielo Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/iamcorrielo LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/iamcorrielo YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/iamcorrielo TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamcorrielo Substack: https://iamcorrielo.substack.com/ ✔️ Visit my Website: www.corrielo.com ✔️ Book me to Speak: www.corrielo.com/speaking ✔️ Enroll in Coaching: www.corrielo.com/coaching   SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE: Don't miss future episodes where we dive deeper into topics like leadership, personal growth, and turning challenges into opportunities. In this episode, I'm sharing why your problem isn't discipline or motivation. It's your mental load. How to Validate Yourself When No One Else Does

What if the only thing standing between you and the confidence you crave is proof you've been ignoring? In this deeply personal episode, I open up about what it really takes to validate yourself - especially when no one else does. After surviving over 15 years in an abusive marriage, I had to relearn how to rebuild my confidence from scratch. And surprisingly, it didn't start with a TED Talk or a viral quote - it started with one terrifying act: booking myself a makeover at Sephora. I'll walk you through the exact three-step process I used (and now teach my coaching clients) to stop outsourcing confidence to other people and start trusting your own voice. If you've ever struggled with self-doubt or looked to others for validation, this episode will show you how to collect the proof that you're already enough. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: How to pinpoint exactly what you're seeking validation for - and why that clarity is crucial for building real confidence. My favorite confidence-building exercise: the "Compliments File," and how to use it as evidence when self-doubt creeps in. Why confidence isn't the prerequisite for action - it's the result of it. A simple, empowering framework to stop outsourcing your self-worth and start proving your own value, one bold step at a time. How I turned one small, scary decision into a turning point that redefined my self-image - and how you can do the same. TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 – The question that changes everything: what if the proof you need is already there? 0:45 – My personal story: how a Sephora makeover became the start of self-validation. 3:00 – Step 1: Identify what you're really seeking validation for. 4:15 – Step 2: Create your "Compliments File" to collect proof of your value. 5:45 – Step 3: Take action before you feel ready - confidence follows doing. 6:45 – Coaching invitation: how I help high-achieving women rebuild self-trust and reconnect to their power. 7:15 – Engagement call: which of the three steps will you try first?
