What does it look like when our lives actually reflect who we are as sons and daughters of God? Galatians 4 tells us that an heir, while still a child, may live no differently than a slave, even though the inheritance already belongs to him. We’re supposed to control ourselves differently.” Through Galatians 4 and 1 Corinthians 3, Chad confronts spiritual immaturity and challenges us to recognize carnality in our own lives. Envy, strife, division, offense, uncontrolled anger, gossip, and other areas where our flesh remains in control can keep us living beneath the freedom Jesus purchased for us. Can you be an heir and still live like a slave? In Live Like an Heir, from the sermon series: Spiritual Authority: Sons & Daughters, Pastor Chad Everett continues through Galatians 4 and challenges us to recognize where we may be living beneath what God has already made available through Christ. Through faith in Jesus, we are born into the family of God as sons and daughters, and if we are sons and daughters, we are heirs. Spiritual maturity is not determined by age or how many years we have followed Jesus. Failure can convince us that we no longer deserve to live as sons and daughters, while faithful service can become striving to earn from God what He has already made available. What do you do when following Jesus gets hard? In Stay Strong: Endure, you’ll be challenged to look at what happens when resistance, hardship, persecution, and spiritual opposition come against your faith. Jesus never promised that following Him would mean avoiding difficulty. He called His followers to remain faithful, stand firm, and endure. Mark 4 warns about seed that falls on stony ground. The Word is received with joy, but when trouble comes, there is no deep root to sustain it. That same warning still matters today. It is possible to hear the Word, agree with it, and even be encouraged by it without allowing it to take root deeply enough to shape how you respond when life becomes difficult. This message will challenge you to examine the condition of your heart and ask whether your faith is prepared to endure. You’ll see why resistance does not always mean you are doing something wrong. Following Jesus puts you in opposition to the ways of the enemy, and spiritual battles are part of the life of a disciple. Scripture calls believers to endure hardship as good soldiers of Jesus Christ, resist the devil, and refuse to abandon their confession of faith. You’ll also be challenged to count the cost of following Jesus. Salvation is a free gift, but discipleship calls you to carry your cross, surrender your life, and keep following when obedience costs you something. If you are facing pressure, disappointment, betrayal, fear, hardship, or a season where you feel like giving up, this message is an encouragement to keep going. Your strength does not come from your ability to fight alone. Jesus is with you, the Holy Spirit strengthens you, and you can remain faithful through the battle. “Stay strong. Don’t back down. What does it really mean to be all in with Jesus? What do you do when the battle seems stronger the closer you get to God's purpose for your life? What does it truly mean to walk by the Spirit? How do you respond when God leads you somewhere you didn't expect? Haggai 1 confronts the people of God with a sobering question: while our own lives are being carefully maintained, has the house of the Lord been neglected? Today, that question reaches beyond buildings and into the heart of every believer. Is my life a temple where God is pleased to dwell? Is my obedience delayed? Has my focus drifted? Have I allowed the patterns of this world to shape my mind more than the truth of God’s Word? God is not merely looking for performance, platforms, or external appearance. He is building people. He is calling His church to come out of spiritual apathy and become fully surrendered, Spirit-led, and renewed in truth. The enemy’s pattern is clear: culture influences, the mind becomes conformed, the heart begins to drift, and obedience gets delayed. But the kingdom pattern is stronger: truth enters in, the mind is renewed, the Spirit leads, and the life is transformed. This is a call to stop postponing obedience. It is a call to come out of comfort and compromise, reject passivity and spiritual drift, and consider your ways before the Lord. God is building something in His people, and now is the time to respond. While listening, allow the Holy Spirit to awaken fresh surrender, renewed obedience, and a deeper commitment to become the temple God is pleased to dwell in. When we receive Holy Spirit, we should expect to speak in tongues. Holy Spirit doesn't take over your tongue, but does tell you what to say, giving you the words to speak out of your mouth. We have to speak what He says. First - We are filled with the PERSON of HOLY SPIRIT. THEN - Holy Spirit tells us what to say. It's Holy Spirit's job to give us the "utterance," but it's our job to do the speaking. "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
