Episode 89. "The Clarity of Miscommunication"
Hello there Dearest listener, Sorry for the hiatus, but Me and Tom are firmly back in the saddle now and are proud to release our latest episode. Recorded during the June heatwave we go off on quite a few tangents as we sweat through a potentially ill advised weight litfting session. We discuss the automated chopping of fibrous root vegetables, customer service issues, there's a fully improvised Howards Way theme, a deep dive on Newell posts, robot hoovers and a stinker of a gig in a flat roofed sports centre + much more! We're also doing some live shows at Buxton fringe https://2026.underthefringe.com/shows/weightlifters and Rob's tour dates are all here www.robrouse.com You can SUPPORT THE PODCAST BY BECOMING A PATRON Enjoy the podcast and please keep spreading the word about our comedic ambient waffle pod! Episode. 88 (The Lost Tapes) "While The Cat's Away..."
Hey there Dearest Listener and Patron, I've been back at the coal face of the edit and whilst doing so discovered this recording made during February half-term, which I'd completely mislaid. However here it is, fully restored in full Stereo, direct into your earholes for your entertainment. Episode 88 "While The Cat's Away" was recorded when both of our wives were away and it'd be fair to say me and Tom really cut loose - Tom for instance spent £10 on a second hand watch at a charity shop - and that's only just the beginning! Strap yourselves in for an hour of daft laughter, gentle whimsy and genial, extreme waffle. Enjoy the podcast! catch Rob on tour, all dates are at www.robrouse.com Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 86 "Penny Farthings & Coffee W@nkers"
Hey there Dearest listener and beloved Patron, Sorry for the elongated break in comms, it's been a busy old time of late, but I'm delighted to say we are back with episodes in the can and the editing back in full swing. A section of this episode was recorded just before Christmas which goes to explain a short discussion about 'sad advert music' and a rant about seasonal markets on country estates that take the piss out of the consumer! Tom introduces a potential new voting policy which could completely overhaul the current system and hopefully lead to a saner world. We also discuss the danger of delicious Dhal, rolling the dice on use-by dates on pork mince and we go deep-dive into Penny Farthings and Tom's self confessed 'Coffee W@nkerdom' Enjoy the podcast and I'll crack on editing the next episode! Thanks so much for your patience and your support, we really appreciate you all. Rob's currently on tour! Come see a live show - all the dates are here! Hello there Dearest listener, UWP Officianado and potential Patron It's hard to describe to you just how packed Tom's schedule has been this week, so it's a miracle we've managed to snare him for this weeks episode, don't take my word for it, he'll tell all on the Ep. We also blow the lid of a massive potential and at this point mercifully, utterly hypothetical product recall on all Huel drinks. Hello there Dearest Patron and listener, Apologies for the tardiness of episodic releases, but you'll hopefully be pleased to know I'm back in the editing saddle and there's a couple in the chute on their way to your earpipes. So many randon topics covered in this episode recorded between rest periods. Tom reckons he'd be ok with being micro-chipped if that every comes to pass and we discuss the massive pendulum swings of health and safety regulations with regard to the fact we used to have a gas lighting system in a caravan essentially made out of cardboard. Different times! Also on the table are the joys of drinking "shit instant" Coffee and Rob is wearing a very comfortable pair of ladies tracksuit trousers that were way too long in the leg for Helen, but seem perfect for weight lifting. Episode 63 - LIVE - "Straight Outta Buxton"
Hey there Dearest Patron and listener. This Episode was recorded Live at The Buxton Festival 2024 On July 21st. It's the first time me and Tom had attempted some sort of live version of the podcast. It was a huge amount of fun and as all of it was 'untried' we ended up getting through about 10% of what we'd planned as the wheels inevitably and comically fell off. The was a "visual element" to a portion of it, so I've edited round those bit and where needed added a small amount of "Audio description". I think it's definitely the beginning of something. Episode 62 "It's Raining Worms"
Hey there Dearest Listener and potential Patron. First of all, my profoundest apologies for the recent break in output and sporadic podcast episodes. In hindsight, I really should have addressed it personally with you all, but I didn't and feel bad about that. I'm so sorry and hope you know I'd never take your support for granted. We've had a full 'back to school related' bugs that have clobbered us (Me and Tom in succession) and I'm sure you've had your fair share too as the kids go back to school - (The petri dish of germs) and our immune systems are put through another 'Joe Wicks esque' boot camp. So this ep was actually recorded in the summer, it may contain the odd reference to the Euros which obv has happened - no spoilers though in case anyone wants to watch the whole thing on catch-up - but it's full of the usual nonsense for which you come here for your recommended weekly (diahrrea permitting) portion of. Having just watched touching the void again, I'm rather freaked out by the sheer number of climbers frozen into the ice walls on the way up to the top of Tom's garden and Tom brings us a sensational Pant Cage UK report from the Nation's Capital the video of which is available on the exclusively on PATREON Plus loads more nonsense for you relaxation and entertainment. Episode 50 "There's a shield bug in the locker room!"
Hey there Dearest Listeners and potential Patrons. Of course 50 is just a number, something I'm continuing to tell myself as I hurtle rapidly towards it, so as you'd imagine in the podcast that isn't really about weightlifting, we don't really dwell on the number and just get stuck into the waffle! On the menu are: A large shield bug that's made it's way into the locker room, Replacing new years resolutions with just being good enough, the majesty and drama of the darts and silent retreats. We also receive a stinging broadside form Darhood Eriquat regarding or Youtube output! Enjoy the podcast and hoping all is well with you and yours. Episode 48. "Poetry of The Pant Cage & The Christmas Blanking Plate Debacle"
Hey there Dearest Listeners and potential Patrons, Seasons greetings to you and good will to all humans! Baa-Humbug, mince pies and reindeers to one and all and little Donkeys all round with their massive loads all round. Here's a bumper Christmas Edition of 'the podcast that really isn't about weightlifting'. It's my first one back since having hoof No.2 operated on, which seems to be healing well (I'm now able to hobble about in my special sandal and should be back to stand up as planned in January!) Tom reveals his sensational hair after a second round of lowlights, our weightlifting appears to have had a significant positive effect on a certain aspect of my recovery, Tom forgets his ID for a gig on a military base and by thunder we have a sensational Pant Cage Poem from listener Paul Martin which really sets the Seasonal tone with a sense of wonder and joy! Tom has an ingenious solution to reduce waste at Christmas, we attempt to stick it to the man and of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without a tale of me having to unblock my mother-in law's drains. Not her fault at all, the blame can squarely and 100% be placed at my own, clown shod shoes. Thanks for all your support over the year and here's to 2024 to all of you and we'll see you on the other side very very soon If you'd like to support the podcast you can do so by joining patreon here, or if you can't afford that please keep listening for free and spread the word about the pod. Episode 47. "Might as well put the macerator on with the light"
Hello there Dearest Listeners and Patrons, Firstly, profound apologies for the lack of pod the last couple of weeks, but between us we've all variously been injured or ill or had sick kids and or partners, and in Tom's case a little bit of both. However like all things, they have passed and it was great to get back under the bar with the Sheffield maestro. Huge thanks goes to regular listener and pant cage UK contributor Steve Swindon in the ep and a VERY SPECIAL GUEST he recorded a pant cage report with. I don't want to pop it in the blurb here as it's just too wonderful and want you to experience it for yourselves in your own moment. Suffice it to say, this is the greatest pant cage review I've ever had the pleasure of being involved with, it's both delightfully funny and moving! Episode 46. "Toucan Upgrade"
A welcome away lift for Rob this week at Platypus heights. It was a crisp & bright autumn/winter's day, perhaps a fitting tribute to one of Tom's chickens which had expired the day before. Tom had been to see Ben Folds Five at a theatre in York and was blown away by the sheer lack of lavatories. The weightlifting platform is sporting a new pigeon deterrent (see bonus video content) and we discuss made up school classroom sports such as desk golf and penny rugby (or was it American Football?) We also talk about the power and authority of being put in ones place by a calm child! Enjoy the podcast. If you'd like to support the podcast you can become a patron here Big love x Hosted on Acast. Episode 44. "China in Your Hands"
Hello there dearest listener and potential patron. This week Tom reveals a deep, deep love of the power ballad, as he prepares himself to have his 'low-lights' done. I can confirm by the time you hear this, they have been done, so stick around to the end of the pod to here Tom's despatch from the hairdressers. Hello there Dearest Patron and Listener. Another bumper ep. Superb locker room chat with Helen regarding Tom's impeding lowlights with Soibhan and we've got sponsorship deals falling out of our arses this week! (We have no sponsors) Rob (I) describe the most rock and roll I've ever seen and also connected to that, I recently witnessed the least rock and roll thing I could have ever imagined. We discuss this, Professor John Curtis's neck hair and much much more in an hour of daft waffle that goes way, way off piste! Enjoy the podcast dear friends. Episode 42. "Basically Wearing My Hairdresser's Emotions"
Hey there Dearest Listeners and potential Patron This week, I’m suspicious that Tom appears to have got himself into some for of regular hairdressing contract which of course, has terrifying echoes of the 'unwritten Hoover repair 'contracts he has become embroiled in, in recent months. Robot Hoovers also hit the headlines in this episode, with emotive feedback polemic on their purchases from both Helen and Mr. Wrigglesworth. There’s a Lovely pant cage review from listener Steve Burley, direct from Sheffield Meadowhall and we postulate whether any dishwasher is actually fit for purpose. Plus loads more waffle. Keep your pant cage UK reviews coming in to [email protected] Big Love and enjoy the podcast XXX www.thecomedyvillage.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Episode 41. "The Utter Minefield that is 'Public Speaking' "
Hello there dearest listener and potential Patron This week we’re proudly (not) sponsored by Plumbers Mate. More importantly it’s Tom’s first lift back since his back went twang. Poor Rob had a torrid time by the side of the road on snake pass with a wholly avoidable bowel incident. Tom gets lost en route to a show and soothes Rob’s bruised psyche by sharing an equally harrowing even that beset his guts one weekend in Birmingham. And Pant Cage UK heads to Warrington courtesy of Listener Mike Norris Please keep you Pant Cage UK reviews coming in, they really are a joy to receive and never forget, this is crucial work. Episode 40. "The Pinking Shear Front and Centre"
Hello Dearest Listener and potential PATRON?! It's our 40th! We've made it, it's a big number, it's a big party... but sadly Tom's put his back out inbetween podcast recordings, so there's even less lifting in this podcast than usual. HOWEVER We sat down, round the microphones like a real podcast and it all tumbled out. In this episode we BLOW THE LID OFF BIG BUSINESS, corporate giants like Wyndsor's world of shoes and brought to their knees. I report from the Balham pant cage, we celebrate the pinking shear, I meet a bona-fide listener out on a dog walk and Tom unearths a remarkable never before heard detail in the Beatles classic 'Let it Be' A huge bumper ep, recorded on high quality microphones, mixed and polished for your listening pleasure!
