Before anything can be rooted it must first be planted. Being planted in Christ comes with first God having encountered your life so that His seed can be put in you. Without the seed, that comes by hearing the Word, being planted in our relationship with God has not officially started. Being rooted without God's seed is like the seed sown on the rocky soil. It received the Word with gladness, but when trials came it was unable to endure. After the man is made and brought to his task, God puts the man to sleep to prepare the woman. This 'sleeping' in Genesis 2 is a change in focus from the man to the 'wo-man'. The man is 'off the scene' and God is preparing the woman to come forth out of him. It is after this that the woman is finally made from the rib of the man. This shows that the woman is to be by the man's side and not behind him. The union of the man and the woman comes from the making of the woman. How a man knows that a woman is his is that she comes out of him. If a woman has not come out of the man then she is not his. It is only in recognizing this that the man called the woman "bone of my bone". Every man that God has made He designed a helper for him. The woman in Genesis 2 was made to be a suitable, adaptable, help to the assignment that God instructed the man to do. All wives are first to be made from the man. The woman is made to be the strength to the man's weakness, providing what the man is lacking. The woman is not a toy or a trophy but instead is a helping hand to help the man accomplish the will of God. If the man doesn't see the value and the purpose for the woman, he will not properly use his help to his advantage. If the woman doesn't understand how and why she was made, then she will not take her rightful place in being a help, making her a hinderance. All marriages are designed to produce wine. Wine is the fruitful production of the life of Christ operating in and through a marriage. In John 2 when Jesus was at the wedding in Cana the couple had run out of wine. If it wasn't for Jesus intervening the festivities that were planned would have been ruined. As a godly couple if Christ is absent in your union your wine production will not be sustainable. In fact, it will sure run out, for every marriage at the beginning sets out to produce good wine. Without Christ as the third fold cord, you will not produce much for God. Wine is the only thing that a correct marriage is able to share with others. As couples our marriages may be the only encounter of Christ that is physically seen. If we are without wine, then surely our union is progressing the agenda of darkness instead of light. Christ in us, the hope of glory is the biggest mystery that we as believers have yet to come into a full knowledge or understanding of. As we continue out study on what is required to build a goldy household we cannot forget to mention the importance of building. It is the man that is supposed to build and establish the foundation of the family though his relationship with God. If the house doesn't start with the man building it, then it is built in vain. The bible calls this man foolish. A man is labeled foolish not by his intelligence, profession, or bank account, but because of how he builds. If a man is building his house on sand instead of the solid rock of Christ him and his family are susceptible to a great fall. Who is building your house? Is it you or God? God is to be the builder of every house in order for it to be a godly home. No house can truly be called a home except it has a lamb (Christ). This is how God's blessing comes upon all those in the house. For the curse of the Lord is upon the household of the wicked. This verse in Proverbs 3:33 is a warning to every house that is absent of the lamb. A lamb-less house will have the curse of the Lord upon it. This week we are coming back to the devil's biggest target of God's children: the home. When the home is divided, ungodly, and independently out of God's will it is easier for the enemy to bring destruction to the family and the land. Deception comes from an unestablished home, a home with no lamb. The basic need of every household is to have a lamb. The 'lamb' is what brings protection, guidance and ultimately victory for every member of the family. After putting off the old man we come into the new man! In order to do this we must put on the new man. Christianity does not start until we put on the 'new'. The new creation man is renewed in every aspect of living. This included logic, understanding, grace, and knowledge. After and only after you have taken off the old man can you now put on the new man. The new creation life now has no dealings with the actions, thoughts, feelings, and logic of the old life. Coming into the new life requires taking off more than just our sins. It requires us taking off the producer of our sins: the old man. The old man is the inherit nature that every person is born with. This nature is the primary producer of a life opposite of God. So, if we are all born with this nature then in order to enter into a relationship with God or to become righteous, we have to put off this nature. This is what being 'born-again' means. To be born again is about taking off an old way of living, a life that habitually sinned, and putting on the new life, the life of Christ. The new creation life is what every Christian is supposed to be living. This life is the life of Christ in a believer after coming to repentance. This life is learned! Christ life is not automatic.
