When I hear people talk about the "gifts" of the Spirit they have, I will often hear the manifestations of the Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12. Most Christians have a list that is an amalgam of various passages from Romans 12 to Ephesians 4. I suggest that this is a misnomer, and creates a bit of confusion when trying to explain the 5 fold ministry, or where overseers/elders fall into the mix. Who has the authority?How many gifts can I have? Do we see Jesus or the disciples with all the gifts from various lists? Today, we are diving into what I, and some others, call the manifestations of the Spirit but some also call them the "manifestional gifts". Paul instructs Timothy to "train yourself in godliness", but what does that look like?What is "godliness"?Paul instructs Timothy to "pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, in company with others who call on the Lord from a pure heart".When we devote ourselves to these actions and lifestyles, we are presenting "godliness" to the world and keeping our perspective fixed on Christ.

When most think of church, they think Pastor as the primary leadership and covering of the people. Such an important role should have a guide, like deacons, elders, and overseers have in various letters from Paul to Timothy or Titus. Yet, when we search, there is only one mentioning of Pastor in the New Testament, found in the book of Ephesians. We see in the book of Acts, 1 Timothy, and Titus how important decisions and leadership appointment went to the Elders and Overseers. I want to explore the possibility that Pastors are Elders and Overseers.

We can all think back to moments of asking to ourselves, "Why did I sign up for this?".I've been a youth pastor, sound tech, deacon, praise team leader, roadie for performing artists that have come in, videographer, preacher, teacher, and counselor......and there have been many times I've said the above question to myself.In ministry, if you've been at it long enough, you will be thinking the same thing. Faith and obedience go hand in hand, they are two sides of the same coin.In Scripture, faith without works is dead.....but who's works makes your faith come alive?I would suggest that faith without obedience is what produces death, stagnant, and useless religion.We must understand obedience as the result of our faith and faith as the context of our obedience.

Who was Eve, and who was she to Adam?We read she was a helper, a help meet for Adam, and given the same command as Adam to subdue, multiply, and have dominion.How does the creation story relate to husbands and wives and why does Jesus and Paul reference the creation story of Adam and Eve in reference to marriage?Candace, my wife, will teach on scripture says and how ezer is used in the Old Testament.I will be teaching on kenegdo, because the qualifier on being an ezer is the kenegdo that follows that word.

What does it mean to "work out" your salvation?How much influence should those beside and above you have in your walk of faith?The misuse of this scripture has allowed for many to entertain practices that should never be a part of Christian living.We must allow ourselves to be corrected and we must only measure our walk by what we have done with what Christ has given us.This is the short version of a much longer sermon I have previously uploaded.

I think we all want to be great, if not for ourselves, for those around us.When we look at the kingdom of heaven that Jesus describes and the kingdom of churches that I see in the modern west....there seems to be a mismatch.The disciples had the discussion on the way to Capernaum, and Jesus taught an important lesson on "the greatest" in response.

Peter, filled with shame and regret, went back to fishing.Where do we go, when we have failed the Lord?He is always engaging with us in a conversation of restoration, but we have to have that conversation to move forward.You are not too far gone, or out of reach from the Shepherd's hand. There is hope, found in His loving words.He will meet us where we are, but is always pushing us to move forward to greater pastures in the kingdom of Heaven.

What is sovereignty?What is our part in the kingdom of Heaven, if God is in control of everything?Jeremy and I look at what the scriptures say about what the Father's plans are for us and how to deal with the harshness of His plans at times.Join us in looking at the proper mindset for submitting to the plans of the Father.

What is your gifting?What is charisma and how does the grace of the Father play into the your "gifting"?You may be surprised at what the Scripture says about your gifts, and what the Greek meaning is for the gifts we so often seek to have.This is a short video to explain and look at the Romans 12 list.

What are you called to do in your life?What is the greatest invitation you've received in life?We so often concern ourselves with our "calling" in ministry....but what if I were to tell you that the call going out to us is far greater than any ministry or vocation we could do?Christ has given us an invitation to a new life, a wonderful family, and a purpose beyond ourselves.Jeremy and I discuss what the "call" on all our lives are.

How do we escape the corruption of this world or the desires of the flesh?There is a promise given to us in 2 Peter 1:2-11 that we can avoid stumbling into sin.We start with faith or pistis and as we add to that faith, we will be given an entrance into the a kingdom not of this world.

Do we honor the house more than the builder of the house?We must offer the righteousness of Christ to those in need.A strung out addict, barely holding on doesn't need to know how to turn a $1,000 seed into a million dollars.A woman struggling with the decision to keep a baby or not doesn't need our best suites and fancy presentation......she needs to be loved and shown that Christ will cover her.

Sometimes life isn't fair. We are obedient, and do what God says...yet...we still suffer the consequences of other people's disobedience....and when the Father forgives us, through the blood of Jesus, there are still those who won't forgive us here on earth.What do we do?

What happens when you were good, righteous, and believed...but you suffer because others weren't good or righteous, and refused to believe?How do we move forward knowing that the Father has forgiveness us, but those around us still refuse to?These are the questions we must answer and understand to rise above discouragement and continue ro serve the Lord.

What is "working out your salvation"?What does it mean to "bear one another's burdens", but still be accountable for "carrying your own burden"? Starting in Philippians 4, and moving through Galatians 6 and continuing on to 2 Corinthians 10 for further clarification.We end in the latter half of 1 Corinthians 9 and Hebrews 11 & 12 to finish with a strong encouragement to stay the course and not lose heart.
