Does AI music really matter when music has evolved to have less value? We examine the use of artificial intelligence, it's negative and positive effects, and talk about a long game experiment one of us made to test audiences to see if they could tell whether music was AI generated or created by a human. Is it relevant in the grand scheme of things?

We talk about the objectification of women, trans people, the gay community, and also men and how it relates to the industrial music scene.

This episode we name a few industrial acts who have been "cancelled" and discuss how that has evolved and what acts can regain disgruntled fans.

We discuss a Facebook group created to shelter cancelled artists, promoters, and patrons in the goth Industrial scene.

On our first episode we welcome Joy aka DJ Industria Nova from Oakland to Los Angeles and discover her impressions on the LA industrial music scene.

Industria Nova started her DJ career in the Bay Area at Stanford Radio in 2001 and started Body Rapture in the East Bay where she held a residency. Hailing from Los Angeles, MMDA makes a soundtrack for the dark underbelly of queer culture. With tortured vocals and hard beats, they summon you to gyrate, grind, throb on the dance floor. Coming from their respective noise and industrial backgrounds, Peter Kalisch and Aaron December’s MMDA is a departure from their earlier work, allowing them to explore dance grooves paired with visceral walls of sound that engulfs the listener. West, the Wild Card of the Technoids Residents, known for her completely unique twist on delivering hard "boom-boom's" to the LA techno crowd. West has curated a unique style that incorporates jaunty and effervescent melodies, groovy and bouncy and deep rhythms, acid baselines, and use of dreamy and transcendental samples. With some deep-rooted influence from Tekno, acid-core, neo-rave and 90's trance, West is like sunshine and rainbows, spinning both popular hits and obscure gold to paint the dancefloor with candyfloss and bubblegum grooves that never fails to deliver the hard or the fast. A Boston native, Dekkatess started DJing with Infra, the up-and-coming collective gaining traction for their intimate events and passion for quality techno. She has since relocated to Los Angeles where she remains a devotee of the underground. Ian Ford is a popular resident of New York City’s Underground and Edgy scenes, with successful residencies at The Bank, Webster Hall, Splash, XL, and more. He also possesses excellent lighting, sound and video skills and is a master and orchestrating the whole party experience. He believes everyone should leave the party better than when they came in, and uses his skill set to make that happen. In 2017, Ian opened a coffee and tea shop in Bushwick, The Caffeine Underground. The shop hosts a variety of events, music, art shows, and education for alternative and independent cultures. Recently, The Caffeine Underground has been featured in press nationally, for being the first coffee shop in New York to legally sell CBD infused coffee. Ian continues to promote health, awareness, and spiritual movement through the cultures that he’s cultivated at the coffee shop. In addition, Ian studies and teaches PaKua Martial Arts, Reiki, and Ch’ien Chi Kua.

Blackpotion (Fei Fei) is a DJ and live performer who's style conjures harsh industrial rhythms, EBM, and Techno that channels anger and agony. Her interest in connecting like minded artists, led her to collaborate on organizing various artistic events also performed in them to celebrate the subcultures influenced Electronic music in Bejing, China. The events featured artists that experimented with Industrial, Techno, Electronic Body Music (EBM), Post-punk, Coldwave. The successes of these events rippled to other cities and had her invited to perform at various venues across China. After she moved to Boston, she played Techno and industrial events organized by Infra and Ceremony. She’s currently studying Electronic Production and Design (EPD) at the Berklee college of music.
