'Hillbilly Elegy' movie on Netflix, JP's political journey Bush (W) -> Obama -> Trump -> Biden and now Kamala Harris in '24, WDWP July 29th, 2024

Welcome to the WDWP with JP today we learn more from JD Vances' book. and movie 'Hillbilly Elegy'. JP talks about George W Bush's presidency (00-08), and the scare of the 9/11 tragedy. Since 9/11 there has been a shift in our world, especially the US and that shift dealt with National Security. The place we find ourselves in is principally related to that attack. The changes in our political process and the acceptance of Donald Trump are because of that time. The rise of Kamala Harris and her possible presidency in November are deeply connected to the events that changed our country and world forever. Where we are right now politically/culturally was/is deeply related to the actions and events of 9/11. 54. #LetUsWorship Testimony from 2020

Episode 54 #LetUsWorship Testimony During the fall of 2020 my friends and I felt God lead us to go where others were lead to stay. That's not any shade to those who stayed but I felt in my spirit and in my heart to go. One. to hear Sean Feucht lead worship and to be with my other homies in the Christian world to worship. C19 had us kept inside and laws denying us the freedom to worship corporately. We have reason and logic and we also have the freedom to make our own decision. Two. that time period was most divisive and I wanted to be in the heart of the division and that was in DC. During my time in DC I met a friend who I'm still friends with today and I met many who I considered enemies and learned how to do life with those who are different and similar to yourself. One person I met who this testimony is about is Ronnie. Shout out to Ronnie and his walk with God today. That's why we went where we went that's why we go. We go because Jesus has called us to go! I grew a lot during that season. Three. I knew that this was a risk. I made sure that I quarantined when I got home and I made sure to make frequent visits to the doctors to stay on top of my health. This a testimony from that time. Follow me on YouTube, IG and TikTok youtube.com/whodareswinsvids instagram.com/holyjpfire TikTok @holyjpfire Support the podcast through CashApp $jpislavished

    43. Reacting to Damar Hamlin, Dealing with Trauma, Jeremiah 29, and even an altar call Romans 10:9-10 Yesterday during the Bills vs Bengals game on Monday Night Football a player collapsed after a tackle. His name is Damar Hamlin and he remains in critical care at a hospital for trauma patients in Cincinnati. I felt a lot of feelings after this happened. I thought and prayed for Damar and his family. I then thought about my own experience where I nearly died. So I recorded myself and I believe in the end there is an encouraging message. There is salvation in Jesus, There is hope for the community in the book of Jeremiah in chapter 29. We also need to deal with, face, heal and make room for people in our lives. 35. Songs of Solomon 5: Britney Spears NYT Documentary (RESPONSE), #FreeBritney

Recently I have grown increasingly interested in the mental health and wellness of popstars. In this episode I tackle identity, celebrity culture, and being in love or lovesick for the wrong things. By looking at this New York Times Documentary, 'Framing Britney Spears,' I saw another side to Britney Spears that made me take pause and feel personally concerned with her conservatorship with her father. I thought about how every album cover of her illustrious career points to dysfunction in success. There is a young woman who shocked the world as a teenager and then became an adult and the media disagreed. Instead of celebrating her becoming a mother and her choices they demonized her and essentially drove her into mental illness. That being said I simply just found it deplorable how pop star after pop star whether huge or small all have to go through these hurdles of gross sexuality and perversion. I learned a lot from this documentary and in this episode, you will hear the future dad in me (I pray, haha) concerned for girls and boys involved in this industry. Finally, I conclude with Songs of Solomon chapter five and how I believe this text speaks to how "the enemy or satan" corrupts purity and how "culture" attempts to write the narrative on love. In this passage, there is a lover who is lovesick for her future husband and how her lovesickness drives her into the streets in search of him. Her desire for love drives her into the arms of those that would exploit her love and her passion. I talk about how I see this in culture and I see this in ministry. I talk about a few more things in this episode too. Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy it. 34. Anxiety at Work, Coronavirus, and Freedom Through The Power of Thanksgiving in Philippians 4:5-7

Since May of 2020, I have noticed an increase in anxiety for me at work. In the past, I would have never said, "I have anxiety or that I'm experiencing anxiety." I just always dealt with what came to me. But I noticed this change and I decided to record it. I have been finding great comfort in the daily reading of scripture. Philippians 4:5-7 speaks to anxiety and freedom through thanksgiving. It's my hope that you too will find freedom through thanksgiving and a sense of connection knowing that you are not alone. You are not less than or not "spiritual" if you have or wrestle with anxiety. You are still a son, you are still a daughter of God. 33. Biblical Literacy, (More Reading & Less Scrolling) 2 Timothy 2:15

On this episode I speak on Biblical Literacy. I believe that Christians today do not understand or care about truly knowing their Bible. We need now more than ever sound biblical training and teaching. Let’s get comfortable and familiar with terms like, hermeneutics, exegesis, and eisegesis for starters. 30. A Proverb A Day Keeps The Devil Away!

A proverb a day keeps the devil away. As much as I wish that were true, it's not. There is no remedy or bible reading that keeps the devil or hard times away, but there is good news. For the challenges of life, there is a book of wisdom and understanding in the Fear of the Lord. This chapter in Proverbs 18 I guarantee will improve your life if you heed its wisdom. More importantly, if you not only read the Proverbs every day there are 31 chapters of Proverbs, so that's a proverb a day in a month. Well if you read every day but give your life to Jesus the proverbs will mean so much more. It's my prayer that you will get some laughs and be encouraged in the wisdom of the Lord and His written book of Proverbs. Natalie Marie and I sit down and talk in this part two of Naty Dares... Wins episode recorded in 2020. Naty shares her experience with grief, belief, and healing. Healing from church hurt takes time. Many people including myself have put so much faith in the church. I love the church and on many episodes, I have talked about church culture good and bad. In this episode though Naty didn't have a graceful exit and it wounded her for a long time. Please allow this episode to encourage you and validate your experience with church pain. I want to encourage you there is more for you. I know this personally. So enjoy this talk on ethics and culture.  email me: [email protected] follow me: @jpislavished follow Naty: @natywithlove
