"Horribly Lovely": Writing Through Addiction, Presence & the Messy Human Journey with Jon Kohrs

In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, host Heather Eck sits down with John, author of the memoir Horribly Lovely, to talk about the eight-year writing process that grew out of a marriage in crisis, a struggle with addiction, and a lifelong search for presence. John shares how a spontaneous, directionless drive became the seed of his book, why he describes writing as being "channeled," and how becoming a father, a coach, and a student of the Enneagram reshaped his understanding of love, intimacy, and what it means to be a "messy human." The conversation moves through Carl Jung's ideas on individuation, the vulnerability that follows sharing something true, childhood sensitivity to other people's energy, and the role of art and coaching as spaces for real presence. In This Episode, We Talk About: The seven-to-eight-year journey of writing Horribly Lovely How addiction, a crumbling marriage, and a directionless drive became the seed of a memoir Writing as "channeling" and letting the unconscious speak The vulnerability hangover that comes after sharing something deeply personal Carl Jung, individuation, and shedding layers to reach your core self Presence as the throughline of John's coaching work and his life Childhood sensitivity, energetic boundaries, and learning to hold space for others The Enneagram as a lens for seeing how differently we each experience reality Where creative ideas come from — and why they aren't always "ours" to keep A quiet moment in Slovenia that became one of the book's central lines About Our Guest Jon Kohrs is the author of Horribly Lovely, a memoir exploring addiction, love, and the long process of becoming who we really are. He also works as a coach, drawing on the Enneagram and years of inner work to help others get present with themselves. You can find him on Substack, where he writes about the beauty of being a messy human being, and take his messiness quiz at horriblylovely.com. How to Use Feng Shui to Change the Energy of Your Home—and Your Life | Laura Vida

What if your home is telling you something about your life? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, I’m joined by Laura Vida, Spiritual Psychologist, Feng Shui Expert, and founder of Interior Alchemy, for a fascinating conversation about the connection between our inner world and the spaces we inhabit. Laura has spent decades exploring feng shui, geomancy, intentional design, and spiritual psychology. Her work begins with a simple but powerful idea: our environment can either support us or reinforce the patterns we’re trying to change. We talk about how the energy of your home can reflect what’s happening in your life—and how small, intentional changes can help create movement when something feels stuck. In this episode, we explore: How feng shui connects your physical environment with your inner world Why how a space feels can matter more than how it looks How to use Laura’s Feng Shui Energy Map to explore nine different areas of your life What clutter may be communicating about where you feel stuck Why your front door represents your ability to receive How color and the five Chinese elements can influence the energy of a space What the shapes, colors, and objects in your home may be communicating How your bedroom and artwork can influence the energy of relationships Why the first thing you see when you wake up can affect your consciousness How artwork can help shift the feeling and energy of a room Why you don't need to feng shui your entire home How unconscious beliefs can override even intentional changes to your environment Why awareness and informed choices can be powerful tools for creating change How you can begin working with feng shui remotely, without having someone physically visit your home One of my favorite ideas from our conversation is that you don't have to make your home "perfect." Instead, look at the area of your life that feels stuck and become curious about what your environment might be reflecting back to you. Because sometimes changing your space isn't really about decorating. It's about noticing. About Laura Vida Laura Vida is a Spiritual Psychologist and Feng Shui Expert who brings together feng shui, intentional design, geomancy, sacred space, and spiritual psychology. Through her work with Interior Alchemy, she helps people explore the relationship between their thoughts, their spaces, and the lives they are creating. Laura offers feng shui consultations, courses, books, free guides, and other resources to help people create more supportive and intentional environments. Find Laura at lauravida.com Instagram: @interior.alchemist A question to take with you If your home could speak to you about your life right now, what do you think it would say? And perhaps even more importantly: What might you notice if you simply started paying attention? Come see me at Paintings on the Porch I'm also getting ready to open the doors of my studio for Paintings on the Porch on September 25th! Come join me for an evening of art, color, and connection. How to Stop Letting Fear Block Your Creative Calling with Laurel Brooke

What if the thing you keep avoiding is actually the thing you’re here to do? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, I’m joined by Laurel Brooke, a writer, storyteller, and guide who helps people reconnect with their creativity, deeper calling, and the stories they’re living. Laurel spent much of her life knowing she wanted to become a published author—but fear, self-doubt, practical responsibilities, and what she describes as resistance kept getting in the way. After a series of profound experiences, she committed to finally pursue the book she had always dreamed of writing. That decision opened the door to a fascinating journey through Arthurian legend, Celtic mythology, sacred storytelling, creativity, nervous system regulation, and the question of what it really means to follow your calling. We talk about why creative blocks aren't always about a lack of ideas—and how sometimes our nervous system can interpret being seen, creating, or pursuing our dreams as a threat. Laurel shares the simple practices she uses to help her body feel safe enough to create, including her Sovereign Breath meditation, and how learning to recognize fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses changed her relationship with writing. We also explore the stories we inherit—and the stories we choose to live. Because the myths, archetypes, books, movies, and narratives surrounding us can quietly influence how we understand ourselves, our relationships, our purpose, and what's possible for our lives. And perhaps most importantly, we talk about something every creative person eventually has to face: Can you give yourself permission to do the thing you already know you’re called to do? In this episode, we explore: Why creative blocks can sometimes be connected to fear and the nervous system How to recognize fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses around creativity The relationship between nervous system regulation and creative flow Why creating a structure or container for your creative practice can matter How Laurel moved from years of avoiding writing to writing 50,000 words in one month The power of sacred storytelling and the stories we tell ourselves Arthurian legend, Celtic mythology, selkies, and the archetype of the Loathly Lady What ancient stories can teach us about sovereignty, freedom, relationships, and identity How travel and connecting with historical places can deepen a creative practice Why showing up for five minutes can sometimes be enough to begin How to recognize the subtle ways we distract ourselves from the work we're called to do What it means to create space for your soul's work in an ordinary life A question to take with you What is something you've known for a long time that you’re meant to do—but keep finding reasons not to begin? And what might change if, instead of waiting until you feel completely ready, you simply gave yourself five minutes to show up? Meet Laurel Brooke Laurel Brooke is a writer, storyteller, and guide exploring mythic living, sacred storytelling, creativity, and nervous system regulation. She is currently writing a novel inspired by Arthurian and Celtic mythology and the story of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnell. Her work explores the stories we inherit, the stories we tell ourselves, and how we can consciously choose stories that connect us more deeply with ourselves, others, and the Earth. Laurel also offers the Sovereign Breath meditation, a practice designed to help calm the nervous system and create greater safety around creative work. How to Stop Forcing Your Life and Start Trusting Your Inner Guidance with Helene Rose

What if the closed door in your life isn’t a failure—but an invitation to look somewhere else? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, Heather Eck sits down with transformational coach, speaker, and comedian Helene Rose to talk about what happens when we stop forcing our lives to look the way we think they should and start listening to our own inner guidance. Helene shares the deeply personal story of hitting rock bottom as a single mother, discovering her own path of healing, and eventually making a life-changing decision to leave Buffalo, New York, and move with her young daughters to Colorado—without knowing exactly what would happen next. That decision became the beginning of what Helene calls her Path of Radiance, a lifelong journey of self-discovery, healing, self-love, and learning to trust the wisdom within. We talk about what it means to lose touch with yourself, how childhood experiences can shape the choices you make as an adult, and why paying attention to your feelings, sensations, curiosity, and intuition can help you find your way back to yourself. Helene also shares the story behind the Be Brilliant Network, a community where people can explore different spiritual and personal-growth practices, connect with practitioners, and discover the tools that help them move through what feels heavy. And then there’s the unexpected chapter: comedy. After years as an educator, coach, speaker, and healer, Helene found herself drawn into stand-up comedy almost by accident. Her new comedy show, The Enlightened Hot Mess, explores life transitions, human messiness, spirituality, and the beautiful tension between being both human and spirit. This conversation is ultimately about trusting your own path—especially when the path you thought you wanted keeps refusing to open. Sometimes the door that won't open is exactly the information you need. In this episode, we explore: What happens when you realize you’ve lost touch with yourself How childhood conditioning can influence your adult decisions Learning to recognize and trust your inner guidance Why your childhood interests and curiosities can offer clues about your authentic self How spiritual practices can support personal transformation Why small, consistent practices can be more powerful than complicated spiritual routines What it means to stop forcing a path that isn’t working How rejection can sometimes redirect you toward something more aligned Creating physical, emotional, and mental space for something new The connection between fear, resistance, and transformation How synchronicities and unexpected opportunities can become invitations to pay attention Parenting sensitive and intuitive children without teaching them to distrust their gifts How comedy can become a surprising pathway to creativity, joy, and self-expression Navigating major life transitions and becoming an "enlightened hot mess" A question to take with you Where in your life are you still pushing on a door that may not be yours to open? And what might become possible if you stopped forcing it long enough to notice what else is trying to appear? About Helene Rose Helene Rose is a transformational coach, speaker, and Brilliance Coach who has spent nearly two decades exploring self-discovery, healing, authenticity, and self-love. Her work centers on helping people remove the blocks to their brilliance, connect with their inner wisdom, and create more peace, purpose, and meaningful connection in their lives. How to Find Meaning After Loss—and Recognize the Signs That Love Continues

What if grief isn't about letting go of the person you love—but learning how to experience your relationship with them differently? In this deeply moving conversation, I’m joined by David J. Roberts, LMSW and Rev. Patty Furino, whose unlikely friendship began with a phone call, a computer glitch, and a double rainbow. Dave is a retired addiction professional, educator, and grief and bereavement specialist who lost his 18-year-old daughter, Jeannine, to cancer in 2003. Patty is an Interfaith Minister who has spent decades helping people navigate difficult seasons of life through spirituality, intuition, and the wisdom found across different spiritual traditions. When they first met in 2010, Dave approached life and grief largely through a science-based lens. Patty came from a deeply spiritual perspective. Then something happened that began to change the way Dave understood his daughter's death. A rainbow. And then another. Their friendship became a 15-year exploration of grief, spirituality, signs, synchronicity, consciousness, and the possibility that our relationships with the people we love can continue even after physical death. In this episode, we talk about: How Dave's experience of losing his daughter changed his understanding of grief The double rainbow that became one of the first signs he associated with Jeannine How Dave and Patty first met—and the remarkable circumstances surrounding their meeting What happened when Patty told Dave that she believed his daughter was communicating with him How a science-based mind can make room for spiritual experiences without abandoning critical thinking Why Dave believes science and spirituality don't necessarily have to compete The idea of continuing bonds and maintaining a relationship with someone after their physical death How signs can appear through numbers, animals, music, rainbows, and unexpected moments Why being open to a new perspective doesn't mean abandoning discernment How spiritual exploration helped Dave find forgiveness and healing within his family relationships The importance of community when we're grieving What their friendship has taught them about unconditional love Why sometimes love means holding someone's hand—and sometimes it means letting them go One of the things I love most about Dave and Patty's story is that neither of them had to become the other. Dave didn't have to stop being the scientist. Patty didn't have to stop being the spiritual teacher. Instead, they became curious about one another's way of seeing the world. And somewhere in that space between science and spirituality, grief and love, questioning and believing, something beautiful happened. They became family. A question to carry with you Have you ever experienced something you couldn't quite explain—but couldn't quite dismiss either? Maybe it was a song at exactly the right moment. A number you kept seeing. A dream. A familiar scent. An animal appearing at an unusual time. Or perhaps a rainbow that seemed to arrive when you needed it most. What if, instead of immediately deciding what these experiences mean, we simply became willing to notice them? Because sometimes the first step isn't finding an answer. It's becoming curious enough to ask the question. Meet Dave Roberts David J. Roberts, LMSW, is a retired addiction professional and adjunct professor who has taught psychology and death, dying, and bereavement. After the death of his daughter Jeannine at age 18, Dave began exploring grief, meaning, spirituality, and the survival of consciousness. He has presented at national and regional grief conferences and contributed to publications including HuffPost, Medium, Open to Hope, Mindfulness and Grief, Thrive Global, and Recovering the Self Journal. Meet Rev. Patty Furino Rev. Patty Furino is an Interfaith Minister who has spent decades exploring spiritual traditions and helping people navigate challenging times. Her ministry centers on meeting people where they are, offering hope, bearing witness to their stories, and empowering people to discover their own unique spiritual paths. How Trauma Disconnects You From Yourself (and How to Find Your Way Back) | with Marta Jackson

How do you find your way back to yourself after trauma? In this heartfelt conversation, Heather sits down with licensed trauma therapist, author, and creator of the Inside Out Living framework, Marta Jackson, to explore what happens when life pulls us away from who we truly are—and how we begin finding our way home again. Together they discuss how trauma isn't always one life-changing event. Whether you've struggled with anxiety, people pleasing, overwhelm, or simply feel like you've lost touch with yourself, this episode offers practical wisdom and compassionate guidance for beginning your healing journey. In this episode, you'll discover: The difference between "Big T" trauma and "little t" trauma Why people pleasing is often a survival response—not a personality trait How to tell the difference between your thoughts and the stories your mind creates What nervous system regulation actually looks like in everyday life Why highly sensitive people often absorb other people's emotions How intuition becomes clearer when you feel safe in your body The Inside Out Living framework for reconnecting with yourself A simple daily practice to help you feel grounded, present, and at peace Marta also shares her own healing journey, how creativity plays an important role in recovery, and why learning to come home to yourself isn't a one-time event—it's a lifelong practice. How to Manifest What You Want: Intuition, Clear Vision & Manifestation Techniques with Atlantis Wolf

What if the only thing standing between you and the life you want… is knowing what you actually want? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, intuitive artist and spiritual guide Heather Eck sits down with Atlantis Wolf — Usui Reiki Master, ordained shamanic minister, master breathwork facilitator, medical massage therapist, and 15-time Amazon #1 best-selling author — for a conversation that will change the way you think about manifestation, intuition, and decision-making. Her core message? Most women don't know what they want — and learning to dream a clear, specific, emotionally charged vision is the real work of manifestation. In this episode, you'll learn: Why a "shamanic death" (divorce, job loss, grief, identity shift) is often the doorway to your next chapter The "order counter of the universe" — why specificity is the key to manifestation Atlantis's journaling technique for uncovering your limiting beliefs ("I want ___, but I can't have it because…") Why writing by hand is more powerful than typing when setting a vision How Atlantis manifested $38,500 in 8 days, $5,000 in 3 days — and helped clients do the same How she lost 85 pounds by asking her body one simple question Devotion vs. discipline: reframing healthy habits without shame Why "you can't make a wrong decision" — and how indecision, not wrong choices, keeps you stuck The head-heart connection: how expansive thoughts signal love and contracting thoughts signal fear Why your dream should scare you — and force you to ask for help Memorable moments: Heather shares the story of receiving a major corporate promotion and her first art show invitation on the same day — and how her body knew which path was hers Atlantis walks Heather through a live manifestation exercise for her dream: a solo art exhibition in New York City The "35,000 decisions a day" truth about burnout, and the permission slip you need to take a day off and refill your cup About Atlantis Wolf: Atlantis Wolf is an intuitive teacher, healer, and global retreat leader devoted to helping women over 50 reclaim their power, clarity, and joy. Why Your Body Holds Emotional Trauma: Kristine Genovese on Bioenergetics and the Soul Intelligence Method

What if every ache, blockage, or chronic condition in your body is actually stuck emotional energy trying to get your attention? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, Heather Eck sits down with Kristine Genovese — corporate turnaround specialist turned energy healer and creator of the Soul Intelligence® Method — to explore the science and spirituality behind bioenergetic healing. Kristine shares the story of the sudden 2020 layoff that redirected her life, breaks down how stuck emotional energy shows up as physical symptoms, and walks through real client stories — from a sacral chakra clearing that restored a client's period, confidence, and business leads overnight, to her own reversal of a cervical cancer scare through energy work and reclaiming her divine feminine. The conversation covers chakras, self-limiting beliefs, generational and past-life energy patterns, and why Kristine believes "the future of medicine is frequency." About the Guest Kristine Genovese is the creator of the Soul Intelligence® Method, a bioenergetic healing system that helps identify and release the emotional root causes of physical, mental, and energetic imbalance. A former corporate turnaround specialist, she left the corporate world in 2020 and now serves as Chief Growth Officer for Nutritional Frontiers while training healthcare providers, coaches, and healers as certified Neuroenergetic Health Practitioners through her evergreen certification course. She is the author of Healing Through Soul Intelligence®, available on Amazon, Audible, and Barnes & Noble, and recently completed her "Soul in the City" book tour, including a Times Square billboard. In This Episode Kristine's abrupt 2020 corporate layoff and the "nine months of grace" that led her to leave corporate America for good What the Soul Intelligence Method is, and how it evolved from a book-of-charts-and-pendulum practice into a modality used with executives, doctors, and functional medicine practices The science lens: electromagnetic fields, the HeartMath Institute's research on the heart's field vs. the brain's, and why emotion is "energy in motion" that gets stuck in the body Bioenergetics (Dr. Alexander Lowen) and why 95% of what doctors treat today are chronic, unresolved conditions rooted in unaddressed emotional causes The five root causes of illness Kristine sees most: chronic stress, environmental toxicity, poor nutrition, lack of movement, and genetics (which she connects to a person's life purpose) How Kristine works with functional medicine doctors and their staff/patients, including a session with a chiropractor and a physician who each had spontaneous emotional releases A sacral chakra clearing story: a client got her period back, restored intimacy with her husband, and landed three new client leads within 24 hours Kristine's own healing journey: growing up with an alcoholic father, the "not good enough" belief that fueled her career and sabotaged her relationships, and reversing a cervical cancer scare through reconnecting with her divine feminine A story about clearing "unsupported men" energy that resolved a five-month foot injury for a healthcare provider client Live in the moment: Heather and Kristine explore what Heather's own sudden foot issue might be pointing to The Soul Intelligence certification course, free monthly group sessions, and how the method treats time, past lives, and generational patterns Kristine's closing message: "Self-care isn't selfish, it's sacred" — healing yourself ripples out to raise the collective consciousness Memorable Quotes "Emotion is supposed to be energy in motion. When it pools, it gets stuck in the body, and that's when it causes dis-ease, dysfunction, or dissonance." — Kristine Genovese "There is always an underlying emotional root cause to every dis-ease in the body, even if it's something simple." — Kristine Genovese "Self-care isn't selfish, it's sacred. When you choose to heal you, you are having an impact on humanity." — Kristine Genovese "Einstein said the future of medicine is frequency." — Kristine Genovese Resources & Links Mentioned Book: Healing Through Soul Intelligence® by Kristine Genovese — Amazon, Kindle, Audible, Barnes & Noble Website & course: soulintelligencemethod.com Free monthly group session: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM Eastern (through end of year) Instagram: @kristinemgenovese Books referenced: The Body Keeps the Score; The Secret Language of Your Body by Inna Segal Concepts referenced: HeartMath Institute research; bioenergetics (Dr. Alexander Lowen); Game Changing Index assessment Connect with Heather Eck Website: www.heathereck.com Instagram: www.instagram.com/heathereckartist Call to Action If this episode moved something in you, share it with a friend who needs to hear it, leave a review, and subscribe so more people can find these conversations. From Terminal MS Diagnosis to Thriving: Medical Qigong, the Mother Modality & the Three Pillars of Healing | Meagan Price

What would you do if a doctor gave you three months to live — with a newborn at home? Meagan Price was 27 years old, freshly postpartum, when a rare secondary complication from her MS medication crossed the blood-brain barrier and began destroying the brain's gray matter. The prognosis was terminal. Her response? "Fuck that. Here we go." Over the next seven years, Meagan studied more than 200 healing modalities across the globe — from Medical Qigong to Sámi shamanic practice in Finland — and fully reversed her MS symptoms. What does it take to rebuild a life — and a self — from the ground up? In this deeply moving episode, Martha shares her extraordinary journey from cult survivor to trauma healer — how her body began breaking down in her early 30s, how a single line in a somatic healing class changed everything, and how 14 years of dedicated healing work transformed not only her body but her identity, her faith, and her purpose. Conversations Worth Having: Appreciative Inquiry, Generative Questions & the Power of Positive Communication | Cheri Torres & Jackie Stavros

What if the key to a more radiant, connected, and fulfilling life lived in the quality of your conversations? In this powerful episode, Heather sits down with Cheri Torres, PhD, and Jackie Stavros, DM — co-founders of the CWH Institute and co-authors of the bestselling book Conversations Worth Having — to explore how a simple but revolutionary framework called Appreciative Inquiry can transform the way we communicate with ourselves and with others. These two brilliant collaborators have spent decades discovering that the quality of our conversations — with others, and with ourselves — is literally the key to human potential, well-being, and connection. And what they share in this episode is something every one of us needs right now. What You'll Discover in This Episode: What Appreciative Inquiry ("the other AI") actually is — and how it emerged from groundbreaking research at the Cleveland Clinic The 5 D's framework: Define, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver Two foundational practices: generative questions and positive framing The "flipping" technique to move from what you don't want to what you actually desire Why pausing, breathing, and tuning in before you speak can transform every interaction MSU — Making Stuff Up — and how to stop letting imaginary conversations drain your energy How every conversation either moves us toward or away from what we want (no neutral ones!) From Nurse to Natural Healer: The Emotional Root of Illness & Four Pillars of Self-Healing | Sarah Dawkins

What if your body isn’t broken — it’s just been waiting for you to listen? In this deeply moving episode of Your Radiant Spirit, host Heather Eck sits down with Sarah Dawkins — Holi stic Health and Healing Coach, Registered Nurse of 20+ years, international speaker, and author of Heal Yourself — to explore the radical idea that the body holds the blueprint for its own healing. Sarah’s journey from a hospital nurse giving out pills to a multi-award-winning holistic health coach is one of the most honest and inspiring stories you’ll hear. It began with a dark night of the soul that lasted three years, a challenge to everything she believed about medicine, and a quiet walk outside where she first looked up at the buds on the trees and realized something had shifted.   The Four Pillars of Health & Healing (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional) — and why most people only address one or two Why people-pleasing is actually a trauma response rooted in the inner child’s need for unconditional love How Sarah secretly practiced Reiki on post-surgery patients in the hospital — and what their heart monitors showed Why Sarah believes 99% of all chronic illness has an emotional underpinning What self-healing from MS, cancer, Lyme disease, and autoimmune conditions have in common — according to the guests on Sarah’s podcast The truth about manifestation: why visualization without action and emotion doesn’t work How to begin reparenting your inner child and releasing the emotional weight you’ve been carrying “Until we deal with the emotional pillar, we’re only treating the surface. The root is almost always in what we’ve been carrying emotionally.”   Sarah Dawkins is a passionate Holistic Health and Healing Coach, international speaker, and the author of Heal Yourself. She is also a multi-award-winning entrepreneur and the award-winning host of the podcast Mind Body Medicine for Self Healers. With over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Sarah combines her deep understanding of conventional medicine with her own powerful self-healing journey to create a truly integrative approach to wellness. Having overcome multiple chronic health challenges herself, she now supports others in uncovering and addressing the root causes of their symptoms, helping them restore balance, reclaim their energy, and create lasting, vibrant wellness.   Website: www.sarahdawkins.com Podcast: Mind Body Medicine for Self Healers Book: Heal Yourself — available on her website and Amazon Work with Sarah: 12-Week Healing Program — visit her website for details   Website & Art: heathereck.com Color Healing Creative Workshop Series: $77/month — every third Sunday. Art Is Not a Nice to Have — It’s Medicine: Storytelling, Community & the Healing Power of Creative Connection | Pam Uzzell

What if the most healing thing you could do today is simply sit down with someone and listen to their story? In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, host Heather Eck sits down with Pam Uzzell — Oakland-based documentary filmmaker and host of the podcast Art Heals All Wounds — for a conversation that is equal parts inspiring, honest, and quietly urgent. Pam has spent her career telling the stories that need to be told: stories of Black high schools before desegregation, of climate and community, of theater groups transforming lives in women’s shelters and with incarcerated youth. And now, through her podcast, she is creating space for artists, creatives, and storytellers to share how their work heals not just themselves — but the people around them. This episode is a reminder that art is not a nice to have. According to the book Your Brain on Art, art and culture turned us into humans. Without it, we don’t thrive. And as Pam so beautifully demonstrates, neither do we thrive without each other.  In this episode you'll hear; How Pam went from studying semiotics in college to making award-winning documentaries — and why she says documentary filmmaking felt like a calling    The Theater Lab program “Life Stories” — and how helping people perform their own stories transforms how they move through the world Why Pam believes conversation is the last true way we have to understand each other The community film screenings bringing people together in theaters to watch, talk, and reconnect What a group of teenagers called the Luddites did when they swapped their smartphones for flip phones — and what it says about what we’re all craving      The profound difference between social media likes and real human connection Why Heather’s two-week artist residency in France reminded her what creative community truly feels like How just 15 minutes of any creative activity lowers cortisol, calms the nervous system, and shifts your state       The arts funding cuts threatening the projects and organizations that heal communities — and why it matters   “Art and culture turned us into humans. It is not a nice to have — it’s a must have. Without it, we don’t thrive.”   Pam Uzzell is an Oakland-based documentary filmmaker and the host of the podcast Art Heals All Wounds. With a background in semiotics and film sound production, Pam discovered her true calling in documentary storytelling — sitting with people, drawing out their stories, and presenting them to the world in a way that illuminates both individual lives and collective history. She has made four documentaries, including a widely praised film about the Black high schools of Malvern, Arkansas before desegregation, which aired on Arkansas Public Television. Through her podcast, she continues to explore how creative work heals people, builds communities, and reminds us of our shared humanity.   Podcast: Art Heals All Wounds Website: pamuzzell.com   Website & Art: heathereck.com Color Healing Creative Workshop Series: $77/month — every third Sunday. Scher (Hay House author + energy healer) for a powerful conversation about chronic illness, fear, and what it really takes to heal when you’ve tried everything. Amy shares her 10-year journey through chronic Lyme, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue, including the moment she realized the missing piece wasn’t “out there” anymore. Together, Heather and Amy talk about the deep stress that comes from living out of alignment, the “lies” we tell ourselves (sometimes daily), and why healing isn’t just insight… it’s action. This one is for you if you feel stuck, exhausted, or like your body has been trying to get your attention for a long time. Why “I’ve tried everything” can be a turning point (not the end) The difference between awareness and real change How fear quietly runs the show (and what it costs your body) Amy’s question that gets to the truth fast: “What have you been lying to yourself about?” Why energy techniques help… but still require action How healing can become a “healing hole” and what to do instead The connection between stress, alignment, and physical symptoms The power of community and collective intention (Fearless Living Collective) “If you’re treating the body and the body isn’t getting better… maybe the body isn’t the whole issue.” “You can’t get away with lying to yourself. Feeling the Frequency: Art, Quantum Consciousness & Timeline Shifts with Julia Stapleton

In this expansive and deeply affirming conversation, Heather sits down with Julia Stapleton, a mindset and consciousness mentor, intuitive artist, and former tech professional who now works at the intersection of energy, art, and quantum consciousness. Julia shares her powerful spiritual awakening and how her background in technology and physics helped her understand something many struggle to articulate: everything is frequency, and frequency carries information. Together, Heather and Julia explore how intuition, art, and embodiment allow us to decode what our logical minds can't always grasp and how tuning into a desired frequency can collapse timelines, activate healing, and support aligned manifestation. This episode is a beautiful meeting point of science and spirit, logic and creativity, structure and flow. In this episode, we explore: What it means to feel frequency rather than see it How art can act as a transmission that activates change in the body and DNA Why manifestation works when it feels like a memory, not a wish The difference between wanting something and being in the experience of it How timelines collapse when the body and nervous system are on board Using intuition and creativity to bypass the analytical mind Why healing and transformation don't require understanding, only resonance How personal artwork can support emotional and physical shifts Julia also shares a powerful personal story about using frequency-encoded artwork to release chronic pain, plus insights into how intuition communicates through dreams, sensation, sound, and inner knowing. If you're someone who: Feels deeply but struggles to explain how you know Uses creativity as a form of healing or guidance Is curious about manifestation beyond hustle or mindset work Wants language for experiences you've already had This conversation will feel like coming home. Some conversations feel like a warm permission slip. In this episode, I'm sitting down with Becca Shaw of Ember Healing, a holistic healer, Akashic Records coach, divination reader, and teacher. And if you've ever wondered, "Okay… what even ARE the Akashic Records?" Becca breaks it down in a way that feels grounded, practical, and honestly kind of fascinating. We talk about the Akashic Records as your soul's "energetic library," how Becca helps people access their own records (not just get a reading), and what can shift when you finally understand where a block really started. If you've been craving clarity, direction, or that deep inner "click"… this one is for you. Yellow Energy + Big Clarity: Deb Eckerling on Focus, Goals, and Selling Your Book Proposal

We tried to record this episode three times… and honestly, I'm glad we did. Because this one turned into the kind of conversation you normally only hear before the official recording starts. I'm sitting down with my friend Deb Eckerling, known as The Book Proposal Expert (and also the creator of the DEB Method for goals). We start with a quick, energetic color reading (hello, yellow and identity shifts), and somehow that opens the door into a deep, practical conversation about: claiming your expertise focusing your message why you don't need to write the whole book first how a book proposal actually works (and why it matters) If you've been holding a book idea in your heart, this episode will help you stop circling it and start shaping it. In this episode, we talk about: A quick color reading for Deb and what "yellow energy" can signal (identity, confidence, visibility, self-trust) Why your next level usually requires a tighter identity, not more hustle Deb's story: how the DEB Method was born (and why it works) The truth about the publishing path: agent → publisher → editorial board What a book proposal really does (it makes the case for your book) The 3 proposal pieces Deb says matter most: Overview (why this book needs to exist) Audience (who will buy it) Comp titles (what it's similar to + why it's different) Why your query letter deserves the same energy as the book itself A simple homework prompt if you "know you have a book in you" but can't name it yet Behind the scenes moments you'll love: We basically said: "No more pre-chat. Hit record." We connect dots between color, identity, and visibility in a way that feels both spiritual and super practical. Takeaways you can actually use this week. If you're listening and thinking, "I want to write a book… but I don't know where to start," do this: Start one living document called: "My Book Notes" 2–3 times a week, brain-dump: stories you keep telling client patterns you notice beliefs you teach on repeat phrases that feel like "your thing" Then do a quick title/market scan: find strong books in your category from the last ~5 years ask: How is mine similar? How is mine different? What's my one-line twist? And if you're feeling "stuck in your head," borrow this from our color moment: Sit with yellow (visualize it, place yellow flowers near your workspace, or just notice where it shows up) Ask yourself: Who am I now? Who am I becoming? How do I want to be known? Guest spotlight: Deb Eckerling Deb Eckerling is a goal strategist, author, and book proposal coach who helps thought leaders turn powerful ideas into book proposals that sell. She's the creator of the DEB Method (Determine your mission, Explore your options, Brainstorm your path) and the founder of The Book Proposal Expert, where she teaches a clear, grounded roadmap for getting your message into the world without making it miserable. Finding Your Sacred Resilience with Alethea Felton: Healing, Alignment, and Leading from Your Truth

In this special episode, I'm joined by transformational speaker and resilience mentor Alethea Felton — and this conversation is extra fun because we interviewed each other for our shows. Alethea and I talk about what it means to return to yourself after seasons of struggle, how to rebuild trust in your own voice, and why resilience isn't about pushing through — it's about alignment, healing, and truth. You'll hear us explore: how Alethea moved through chronic illness, grief, and a lifelong stutter the moment she realized she wasn't made to just "endure" — she was made to transform how to reconnect with your inner compass when life feels out of sync the role of intuition, creativity, and spiritual awareness in real healing what leadership looks like when it comes from wholeness, not burnout If you're a mid-life woman, a leader, or someone who looks successful on the outside but feels lost on the inside, this episode speaks right to you. From Calling to Practice: Bob Vetter on Indigenous Wisdom, Curanderismo, and the Art of Soul Healing

Anthropologist-turned-healer Bob Vetter shares how decades with Indigenous elders—and a life-changing story from a Comanche medicine man—shaped his path from academic study to hands-on healing. We talk about vision, story as medicine, curanderismo, energy work, and Bob's framework for helping people move from calling to an ethical, grounded healing practice. In this conversation, we explore how your soul's whispers can become a trustworthy path. Bob Vetter traces his journey from seventh-grade meditation and Eastern philosophy to ethnographic fieldwork in Oklahoma, where he was adopted into Native families and mentored by elders. A profound healing story he received—about a "visitor" of fire and the return to order—reframed everything he knew about illness, power, and service. We also get into how to ethically bridge traditions, what "healed vs. cured" really means, and Bob's Soul Medicine: The Journey from Calling to Healing Practice—a practical container for people who feel the pull to serve but don't know where to start. What we cover Following a spiritual calling and letting it unfold one step at a time Bob's formative years in anthropology, India, and "participant-observer" fieldwork Being adopted by Native families and learning through community and story The life-changing healing story from a Comanche medicine man and its meaning Healed vs. cured: moving from chaos to order (and why both outcomes matter) Curanderismo (Mesoamerican folk healing), sound healing, medical qigong & energy work Dream symbolism (white & red roses) as a metaphor for re-patterning a life Bridging Western & Indigenous frameworks with humility and integrity Story as medicine, technology as a tool, and the importance of community Listener takeaways Your hardships can become the source of your medicine for others You can be healed without being cured—and cured without being healed A workable session framework needs a beginning, middle, and end Start your path by discerning the shape of your calling and your own healing Connect Website & free resources: bobvetter.com Program: Soul Medicine — The Journey from Calling to Healing Practice (details on his website) Blog & podcast archive: on bobvetter.com Connect with Heather: www.heathereck.com or www.heathereckstudios.com Learn more about your ad choices. Solo | Housekeeping for Your Soul & Studio: How Discipline + Creative Hour Clear Space for Your Spirit

In this solo episode of Your Radiant Spirit, I share how what looks like "housekeeping" – for your studio, your calendar, your nervous system – is really spiritual housekeeping. We explore how carving out one intentional hour of creation every day shifts everything, how art is more than decoration (it's healing), and how my own business containers are evolving to meet the deeper work of transformation. What You'll Hear Why discipline becomes devotion when you show up consistently for your creative practice ("just me and my paints … whatever wants to come through"). The moment I was vacuuming this week and inspiration for a holiday novella popped in — and what that teaches about clearing space for creativity. How making art slows your nervous system, softens your body, and reconnects you with places that words can't touch. An update on my business: The Color Club has become the Color Healing Academy, and my Therapeutic Art Journeys are now 4 months long. I'll walk you through what that means for you. A special invitation: DM me COLOR on Instagram to receive a free Color Insight Session — and how you can join the journey. Key Insights & Highlights "When we show up consistently for our creative practices, we're really showing up for ourselves." "Art doesn't just decorate life; it restores it." The shift from color conversation → color transformation. Why extending the container from 3 to 4 months makes space for integration, embodiment and alignment, not just release. If you've sensed that inspiration is hovering but not landing. If you're curious how creativity + discipline can become a spiritual practice. And if you're ready to align your inner world with your outer work. Tune in.
