At normal body temperature, the bacteria thrived, but when the temperature was raised to mimic a fever, the bacteria were completely inhibited and unable to grow. This is because higher temperatures disrupt the delicate balance of bacterial cells, affecting their cellular structures and processes. Our bodies use this same mechanism when we experience a fever, creating an inhospitable environment that slows or stops the spread of harmful microbes.
