" Comment ne pas penser à Shakespeare quand on prend connaissance, jour après jour, des nouvelles du Proche-Orient... Les attentats succèdent aux destructions de maisons, les raids répondent aux embuscades, et chaque jour apporte son lot de morts... Israéliens et Palestiniens semblent emportés dans une spirale folle qui repousse toujours plus loin l'espoir de paix suscité par les Accords d'Oslo.Nous avons déjà abordé plusieurs fois cette douloureuse question avec Monsieur X. Mais à l'heure où le spectre du terrorisme paraît menacer la planète entière, mon interlocuteur a voulu revenir sur une date-clef de l'histoire du terrorisme, la prise d'otages qui a ensanglanté les Jeux Olympiques de Munich en 1972. Pourquoi ? Parce que les circonstances au cours desquelles 11 otages israéliens, 5 terroristes palestiniens et 1 policier allemand ont trouvé la mort ne sont toujours pas vraiment éclaircies. Mais aussi parce que cette affaire est à l'origine d'une fantastique chasse à l'homme qui s'est peut-être terminée chez nous, à Paris, en 1992, par l'assassinat d'un important dirigeant palestinien, Atef Bseisso. Vingt ans après, Israël vengeait donc encore ses athlètes massacrés à Munich. Apparemment en tout cas. Mais n'allons pas trop vite, comme aime à le dire Monsieur X...
