Nacido en 1972 en el contexto de una familia musulmana en Kuala Lumpur (Malasia), Amir Muhammad es uno de los realizadores más insólitos del panorama del cine de no ficción contemporáneo. Escritor antes que cineasta, los principios básicos de su cine son: una clara voluntad ensayística con contenido político y una revisión de la historia más reciente de su país bajo un refrescante sentido del humor. En 2005 Amir Muhammad se unió a otros tres realizadores independientes malayos, James Lee, Tan Chui Mui y Liew Seng Tat para(crear Da Huang Pictures, productora que da salida a sus películas y a las de otros compañeros generacionales. Además, en 2007 creó su propia editorial, Matahari Books, en la que publica ensayos que van desde la crítica política hasta el estudio sociológico y cultural. La retrospectiva que ofrece La Casa Encendida engloba cuatro sesiones: dos en febrero, que contarán con su presencia; y dos sesiones la primera semana de marzo.
