From The Heart-Freedom In the Spirit

Lee some prophetic, with some down-to-earth thinking to guide us.

  5. 80

    The Power Of Exhortation 1

Today, we’re exploring the power of exhortation—the call to urge, uplift, and encourage others toward faith, righteousness, and action. Exhortation is more than encouragement; it is a strong, heartfelt push toward growth, obedience, and purpose in Christ. Hebrews 3:13 tells us:  "But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."

  6. 79

    The Power Of Edification

Today, we are diving into the incredible power of edification—building one another up in faith, strength, and encouragement. In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Paul tells us:  "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." The word "edify" means to strengthen, uplift, and support. As believers, we are called to speak life, encourage growth, and help each other walk closer with Christ. When we practice edification, we not only bless others, but we strengthen the Church, deepen unity, and reflect the heart of God. Let’s explore what edification looks like, how Jesus demonstrated it, and how we can practice it daily.

  7. 78

    The Power of Encouragement

I want to talk about something that has the power to uplift, strengthen, and renew our spirits—encouragement. Encouragement is more than kind words—it is a gift we give one another, a force that helps us press on when we feel weary, and a reflection of God’s heart toward His people.

  8. 77

The Parable of the Four Soils—Cultivating a Heart Ready for God

Today, we’re diving into one of Jesus’ most profound teachings—the Parable of the Four Soils, found in Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23. Jesus often used parables to teach deep spiritual truths through everyday examples. In this parable, He describes four types of soil, representing the conditions of our hearts when we receive God's Word. Let’s explore each type of soil, reflect on where we stand, and discover how we can cultivate fruitful, spiritually rich lives.

  9. 76

The Attributes of Our Heavenly Father

Knowing the Heart of the Father Today, we are diving into something foundational—the attributes of our Heavenly Father. To understand who we are as His children, we must first know who He is. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as our Creator, Protector, Provider, and Loving Father. When we grasp His nature, it transforms our faith, strengthens our trust, and deepens our relationship with Him. Let’s explore the key attributes of our Father, supported by Scripture, examples, and applications for o

The Widow, The Oil, The Miracle

This Sunday, Lee will share on Elisha meeting with the widow in a time of need.He is diving into one of the most powerful stories of God’s provision and miraculous overflow—the story of Elisha, the widow, and the oil in 2 Kings 4:1-5. This passage teaches us that no matter how empty we feel—whether spiritually, emotionally, or financially—God sees us, hears us, and provides more than we expect. He specializes in taking what little we have and multiplying it beyond our imagination. Let’s explore how this story relates to our lives today.

  11. 74

    The Unforced Rhythms of Grace

Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) says:  "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” What does it mean to live in the unforced rhythms of grace? It means moving not in striving, but in God’s flow—where peace replaces pressure, joy replaces burden, and rest replaces exhaustion. Today, we’ll explore how to embrace God’s grace in our daily lives.

  12. 73

    Walking in love

Lee talks about one of the most foundational commands in the Christian faith—walking in love. Love is not just an emotion; it is an action, a lifestyle, and a reflection of Christ in our lives.

Agape Love-Love Feast #3-Loving the difficult

How can I practice agape love in difficult relationships? Practicing agape love in difficult relationships requires patience, humility, and intentionality. Here are some practical steps to help you demonstrate unconditional love even in challenging situations: Pray for Wisdom and Strength: Ask God for guidance, wisdom, and strength to show love in difficult relationships. Prayer can help you stay grounded and focused on Christ's example of love. Show Empathy and Understanding: Try to see things from the other person's perspective. Understanding their feelings, struggles, and motivations can help you respond with compassion instead of frustration. Practice Patience: Agape love involves being patient and slow to anger. Give the other person time and space to grow and change, and be patient with yourself as you work on loving them unconditionally. Forgive Freely: Let go of past hurts and offenses. Holding onto grudges can hinder your ability to love unconditionally. Practice forgiveness, even if the other person hasn't asked for it. Set Healthy Boundaries: Loving unconditionally doesn't mean tolerating harmful behavior. Set clear boundaries to protect yourself and the relationship. Communicate these boundaries with love and respect. Communicate with Love: Speak the truth in love. Use kind and gentle words, even when addressing difficult issues. Avoid harsh or critical language that can escalate conflict. Serve Sacrificially: Look for ways to serve the other person without expecting anything in return. Acts of service can demonstrate your commitment to loving them unconditionally. Focus on the Positive: Identify and appreciate the positive qualities and actions of the other person. Express gratitude for the good things they bring to the relationship. Practice Self-Care: Take care of your own emotional and spiritual well-being. Spend time in prayer, worship, and reading Scripture to stay connected to God's love and strength. Seek Support: Reach out to trusted friends, family members, or counselors for support and advice. Sometimes, an outside perspective can provide valuable insights and encouragement.

    Transformation and Spiritual Growth

Lee shares on the power of transformation from Romans 12:2 Transformation, from a biblical perspective, is a profound and fundamental change that occurs within individuals when they embrace faith and live according to God's will. This concept is woven throughout the scriptures and is central to the Christian faith.  One of the key verses highlighting transformation is Romans 12:2, which states: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." This verse emphasizes the importance of renewing one's mind and aligning one's thoughts and actions with God's teachings, rather than following worldly ways.  Another significant transformation story is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This verse underscores the idea that accepting Christ leads to a spiritual rebirth, where the old self, with its sinful nature, is replaced by a new self that reflects Christ's love and righteousness.

    Codependency versus God Dependency

Lee talks about being dependent on the Lord, to set us free from codependency. Last week I discussed boundaries. Today we cover the codependency the church has. We need people to be dependent on God, not the church. Our corelationship with others is to be intradependent. I was questioned about codependency. MY STATEMENTS ARE IN BOLD a deep-seated need for approval from others GOD LOVES YOU self-worth that depends on what others think about you GOD MADE YOU IN HIS IMAGE a habit of taking on more work than you can realistically handle, both to earn praise or lighten a loved one’s burden THEY COULD NOT ENTER HIS REST BECAUSE THEY DID NOT MIX THE FAITH WITH THE PROMISE a tendency to apologize or take on blame in order to keep the peace GOD LOOKS FOR PEACEMAKERS NOT PEACEKEEPERS a pattern of avoiding conflict GRACE IS THE POWER TO ENGAGE IN LOVE a tendency to minimize or ignore your own desires YOU ARE THE APPLE OF HIS EYE excessive concern about a loved one’s habits or behaviors GOD CARES ABOUT THEM MORE THAN YOU. BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING a habit of making decisions for others or trying to “manage” loved ones YOU ARE NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT a mood that reflects how others feel, rather than your own emotions PEACE IS OUR REFEREE guilt or anxiety when doing something for yourself LOVE OTHERS AS YOU LOVE YOU! doing things you don’t really want to do, simply to make others happy DISCERNMENT IS YOUR GUIDE. idealizing partners or other loved ones, often to the point of maintaining relationships that leave you unfulfilled LOVE HAS NO CONDITIONS overwhelming fears of rejection or abandonment GOD MADE ROOM FOR YOU AT THE CROSS With codependency, the need to support others goes beyond what’s generally considered healthy.
