Day 30 - The Last Day

Transcript:Day 30:  The Hadith teaches if a believer voluntarily fasts all of Ramadan and the 6 days after Eid, all fasting requirements for the year are fulfilled. Those who did not faithfully keep the entire fast or were not able to because of religious restrictions during Ramadan,  must continue fasting until they meet all the required days. For those who have kept the entire fast, this final day signals a long day of preparation and shopping for the beginning of Eid. All feel the weariness and anticipation of the end of Ramadan. Let’s pray for Muslims as they leave a season of fasting together, that the desire for freedom in Christ would increase and that He meets them. Father God, we want to enter this last day of prayer with hearts that are open and soft to you. We love you and as we have prayed for Muslims this past month, we have seen the beauty of the gospel as it has contrasted to the legalism and weight of Islam. We thank you that You are found by all who call on you and that your Spirit is moving in the Muslim world. We pray for those today who are finishing up the Ramadan fast, and for those who will continue, to find You Jesus. In their weariness and pride in finishing such a challenging time, we pray for You to be the one who gives them strength and let the end of this time leave an ache oh Christ that can only be fulfilled in knowing You. We pray that our Muslim friends would hear your invitation to “ Come to You, as they are those who labor and are  heavy laden, for You alone  will give them rest. Let Muslims take Your  yoke  and  learn from You Jesus,  for You are gentle and lowly in heart, and they will find rest for their souls. We pray this all in the Name of Jesus. Amen. We invite you to meditate on the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30 today. If you know a Muslim,  ask them with the intent to listen: How did Ramadan go for you this year?

Day 29 - Endings and Beginnings

On day 29 we pray for open hearts that will make room for the joy of the Gospel and the life that can be had by faith in Jesus Christ.

Day 28 - More Divine Encounters

Day 28. It is now the final stretch of Ramadan. Sons and daughters will return home from university, preparations are being made and many Muslims will continue to observe the Laylat al-Qadr with more prayers and lessons until Eid, continuing to try to change their eternal destiny. Pray that Muslims meet Christians by whom they encounter the reality of “Christ in you the hope of glory.” Lord God, we think about Revelation 3 where we learn that each of us has been given a name that no one else knows but you. And in this find great hope and assurance, not just of our eternal destiny but of our current reality - Loved, Accepted, Chosen and Adopted by you. We pray today for  Muslims and ask specifically that they would encounter a believer whose hope in you and the peace of the assurance of salvation radiates from them like a beacon. Jesus, initiate such divine encounters that through these relationships and chance meetings you would grow your church in the Muslim world. Bring hope to the hopeless and the efficacy of the cross to unreached peoples of Islam.

Day 27 - The Night of Power

Day 27 is often believed to be the most holy and significant night of Ramadan. On this day we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.Transcript:The 27th Night for the majority of Muslims is considered the most sacred night of Ramadan, and one of the holiest of the Islamic calendar. On this night, Laylat al Qadr, or the Night of Power, It is believed angels are given annual decrees over what will happen in the year and is also the night the prophet Muhammed received the revelation of the Quran. Prayers on this night count as many as 1,000 months of prayer. Even those who are nominal Muslims will often pray through the night on Laylat Al Qadr so the sins of the previous year can be washed away. Let’s pray the Holy Spirit works powerfully in the lives of Muslims as they pray  tonight. Father God, we cry out on behalf of Muslims tonight as they gather to pray for forgiveness of sins and to earn the favor of Allah. Jesus, You hear every prayer and see the desire of every heart so and we ask that tonight you would come to Muslims who are hungry for righteousness and truth. We ask that by your Spirit you would reveal yourself tonight to many in dreams and visions. We ask for open hearts and eyes to see you and receive you as you come, Jesus. We pray that this night of power would be a night of your power dis[played through healings and direct answers to their prayers. We pray for the hearts of many to be opened to their need for you and for an awakening to the life that you give. We pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Consider meditating on Hebrews 4:12.If you know a Muslm, ask them how they observe Laylat al-Qadr?

  5. 29

    Day 26 - Awaken Church

On Day 27 we pray for the church to awaken to its role in the Missio Dei in the Muslim World

  6. 28

Day 25 - God who Dialogues

On Day 25 we pray for Muslims to come to their senses and return to their creator who waits in anticipation to dialogue with His children.

  7. 27

    Day 24 - Filthy Rags

On Day 24 we pray for Muslims to abandoned works based acceptance and mercy and pursue the righteousness that God requires through Jesus Christ. Transcript:Day 24 Muslims remember the death of Abu Lahab, uncle and opponent of Muhammad. After his death, many dreamed of him in hell, but due to one good deed he had done, not in the worst of hell. The conclusion drawn is that even if you think you’re going to hell, still do good to suffer less. Across the Muslim world, those in suffering are often considered to be bearing punishment for some wrong they have done. We know that even our good deeds are considered as filthy garments and it is only by the perfect life and death of Jesus that we are made right before God. Let’s pray for muslims to know this kind of freedom and wholeness. Father, we thank you that it is those who are broken that are made whole. The Law of Moses brought awareness of sin and our inability to earn our way back into favor with You. But Jesus, you perfectly fulfilled the Law in our place and we are now new creations in you. So We pray for this kind of life and freedom over Muslims today. We pray for a freedom from sin and repentance to accept the humbling but life giving gift of salvation through the blood of the cross.  We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.  Today, consider meditation on Isaiah 64:6-9. IIf you know a Muslim ask them with the intent to listen: Why do bad things happen to people?

    Day 23 - Laylat Al-Qadr

Transcript:Day 23 For Shia Muslim’s this odd numbered day in the Muslim calendar is often identified as the “Laylat Al-Qadr,” the Night of Power or The Night of Divine Destiny. Islamic tradition holds that the first verses of the Koran were revealed to Muhammad on this night. Because Muslims believe there is a thinning between the boundary of heaven and earth on Laylat, this single night holds the spiritual weight of a lifetime of prayer. As such, Muslims will spend the entire night in prayer, reading the Koran, and giving to the poor in an effort to earn increased rewards and mercy from Allah. Let us pray that on this night of Divine Destiny that the Divine Messiah, Jesus, is revealed to Muslims as God’s ultimate mercy and that life in Jesus is the ultimate reward, a reward that cannot be earned, but rather is a free gift given to those who believe. God, we ask that as Muslims earnestly seek a deeper connection and relationship with Allah through works on this night, that their eyes and hearts would be opened to your truth, that you are the “compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast Love.” (Exodus 34:6). We pray that Muslims would tire of trying to earn Allah’s favor, and instead would come to understand that they may have redemption through the blood of Jesus according the riches of your grace (Eph. 1:7). Consider meditating on 2 Corinthian’s 13:14 If you know a Muslim, ask him or her: What do you understand prayer to be? May I pray with you?

  9. 25

    Day 22 - Disruption

On Day 22 we pray that the prayers of Muslims are disrupted by the presence of the true and loving God.

  10. 24

    Day 21 - Divine Destiny

Day 21 starts the last 10 days of Ramadan which focuses on salvation from hell's fire and divine destiny.Transcript:The last ten days focus on Al-Qadr (Divine destiny). These last days are the most holy of Ramadan as they commemorate when the Angel Gabriel first brought Muhammad the revelation of Islam. Prayers during these nights multiply 1000x more than at other times, with the odd numbers (21,23,35,27,29) thought to be extra holy. For example -the 21st commemorates the deaths of Moses and Joshua, as well as the miraculous ascension of Isa Al Mesih before he was crucified. Let’s pray for Muslims to have the eyes of their hearts opened these final days of Ramadan and for the truth of Jesus and his sacrificial death to be revealed to man. Father, we praise you for your power and your mercy. You are the God who has both made all that lives and moves and breathes and you are the one who calls us to repentance and fullness of life. We pray for Muslims today that they would hear that call and would follow it Home. You say to come, all who thirst to drink from your water, and for the one who has no money, to come and eat at your table. We cry this out on behalf of Muslims today, that as they near the end of this fast that there would be that kind of longing and hunger for a God who comes and satisfies them with his own body and from his own table. Jesus, thank you for brining us to your table, would you be pleased to fill it with our Muslim cousins now. We pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen. We’d like to invite you to meditate on Isaiah 55 today. If you know a Muslim, consider asking with the intent to listen: Who is Jesus? Where is Jesus now?

  11. 23

Day 20 - Surrender to King Jesus

On Day 20 we pray for Muslims to surrender to the conquering Love of Jesus.

  12. 22

Day 19 - Unity in the Church

On day 19 we pray and ask for Unity in the church and for that to bear witness to the reconciliatory power of the gospel.

  13. 21

    Day 18 - Psalm 27

Transcript:Day 18 celebrates King David being given the Zabur, (Psalms). Although it is considered one of four holy books in Islam, few Muslims read the Psalms. While the other divine books focus more on law and how to follow God, the Zabur is honored as a collection of praises and prayers. We know that the prayers of David repeatedly point to Jesus and teach us how we can come to God as we are: messy, broken, confused. Let’s pray that the Psalms would be read by Muslims and Jesus be encountered through them. Father, we thank you for Your Word and the truth we find in it. We pray in agreement with  the words of David in  Psalm 27 today that Muslims would Seek your face and would accept your invitation to dwell with you in your sanctuary, gazing upon your Beauty. We pray for the words of the Psalms to be read by Muslims this Ramadan and may it lead their eyes upward to see and behold you Jesus as the Answer to their prayers. As the One who knows and hears the heart of his people. We pray this in your Name Jesus. Amen. Today consider meditating on Psalm 23.If you know a Muslim, ask them with the intent to listen: May I share one of David’s most beloved psalms?

  14. 20

    Day 17 - Women in God’s Image

On Day 17 we pray again for Muslim Women to know that they are loved by God and have a special place in His creation.

  15. 19

Day 16 - Mercy in Jesus

On Day 16 we pray that Muslims seeking mercy on judgement day would be drawn to the Mercy that is found in Jesus

  16. 18

Day 15 - Balancing the Scales

Transcript:Day 15 Across the three main sects of Islam, Ramadan is observed religiously but a bit differently depending on if you are Sunni, Shia, or Sufi. For example, Sunni’s will traditionally break the fast at sunset, while Shia’s will wait until it is entirely dark. Suf’s (or more mystical Muslims) often include chanting Allah’s name as the fast is broken. Extra prayers later in the night during this month also count as “extra” towards covering your sin and balancing out the scales of your good and bad deeds. Let’s pray for all Muslims to be united under the Name of Jesus who alone sets them free and restores their relationship with God. Father, we pray today for those across the Muslim world, Sunni, Shia, Sufi and beyond to come to you. Through different traditions and means we see them reaching out for relationships and forgiveness of sins. We see a zeal for obedience before God and a pride in walking in legalistic righteousness. Jesus, You are the One way home for every one of us so we cry out now on behalf of Muslims and ask that you would turn their feet in the way of Peace and reveal yourself to them this Ramadan. Meet them as they break their fast, in the middle of the night as they pray, in their times of reflection and weariness. Come Jesus, come. We pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Consider Meditating on John 14:1-7. If you know Muslim, ask them with the intent to listen: What are some traditions of Ramadan that you particularly appreciate?

  17. 17

Day 14 - Sweeter than Honey

Transcript:Day 14, A tradition of the Iftar, the meal after sunset, is to begin by eating a few dates which gives instant energy and digestive support for the meal. This tradition originates with Muhammad himself and interestingly He also drew a link to Mary the mother of Jesus, relating how an angel advised her to eat dates when she was in labor. A sign of God’s generous mercy.Let’s pray that Muslims be nourished by the true spiritual food that is found in Christ. Father, we agree with the psalmist who writes in Psalm 119 “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth” We know that your Word, your Truth is life-giving and delights are hearts. We ask Father that you would give Muslims a taste of your Truth and nourish their souls with the true spiritual food that is found only in Christ. We ask specifically today that you would reveal yourself in dreams and visions and glorify your name. In Jesus' name we pray - Amen.Today Meditate on: John 6:55. If you know a Muslim ask them: Please tell me about Iftar and how your family usually observes the first meal after sunset.

Day 13 - Light to my Path

On Day 13 we ask that Jesus light the way for Muslims to find him.Transcript:Day 13, A beautiful tradition that has arisen from the celebration of Ramadan is the unique Fatimid (fat-uh-mid) styled lantern, known as a fanous (Faa Noos). The tradition of hanging colorful lamps on streets and in houses originated in Egypt when the Caliph ordered that lights be hung to help worshipers safely make their way to Mosque in the dark. The fanous has since been incorporated around the Muslim world as a sign of hope and a light in darkness. Today let’s pray that the true light of the world shines in the hearts of Muslims. Father, you sent your son, Jesus as the light of the World and declared through Him that whoever follows him will not walk in darkness but have the light of life. So we pray now that you would make the light of Christ shine brightly in the Muslim world that those who are seeking the truth would find themselves on the path of Jesus. And Lord, bless those Muslim background believers who do follow you that their lives and their testimony would shine brightly, like a city on a hill and use them to bring their families and friends to the knowledge of you. In Jesus’ name - Amen.Consider Meditating on: John 8:12-30. If you know a Muslim ask them and then: What do you think of when you see a fanous?

  19. 15

Day 12 - Looking to the Injil to find the Word of God

on Day 12 we pray for Muslims to be inspired to read the Injil (New Testament) and search for the Word of God.Transcript:On Day 12, Muslims remember that the Injil (gospel) was given to Jesus,  passed down from Heaven as a divinely inspired book. Within the Quran, they are even instructed to study the words of Isa-al Mesih(Jesus) as he is considered an honored prophet. Today, let’s Pray that Muslims would pick up the Injil and encounter the True Word of God through the pages of the New Testament. Father God, you say that you Word does not return void and accomplishes all that you ordain. Speaking God, we pray today that you would be heard by Muslims as they encounter You in the words of Scripture. We pray for many during this time to pick up the Injil in a spirit of awe and fear and to find a God who comes to his people and brings true salvation. Spirit, we ask that you would open the words of Jesus to religious leaders today that they would be struck by the Beauty and Lordship of Jesus and that those who once taught the words of Muhammed would teach the way of Jesus. We pray this in your Name Jesus. Amen. Today, consider meditation on the earliest recorded words of Jesus in Mark 1:1-5. If you know a Muslim consider asking then with the intent to listen: How do you receive and understand God’s Word?

  20. 14

Day 11 - The Assurance of Forgiveness

On Day 11 we ask the Muslims be driven to the Gospel in search of the assurance of forgiveness.Transcript:Day 11, Today starts the second set of ten days of Ramadan in which Muslims focus on the forgiveness of Allah. During this time Muslims are encouraged to reflect on their mistakes, resolve to be better, and ask for forgiveness not just from God, but also from the people they may have wronged. There is no certainty of forgiveness in Islam, only hope that God will be merciful and this hope is often accompanied by good deeds and an increase is acts of charity and disciplines like prayer and fasting in hopes of tipping the scale.Heavenly Father, we rejoice in your mercy and kindness and thank you that we do not have to tip the scales in our favor because you have tipped them for us in atoning sacrifice of your son Jesus. Lord, we ask today that you would use the uncertainty of merit based forgiveness to drive desperate hearts to look for the assurance of forgiveness that only you provide. Come Lord Jesus Come. In your name we pray. Amen. Today, consider meditating on: Luke 23:32-43 If you know a Muslim Ask them how they know if they have been forgiven?

  21. 13

Day 10 - Women of Faith

On Day 10 we pray for the women of Islam to be used by God to bring their husbands, father and families to faith in Jesus.Transcript:Day 10, one of the observances on this day is the death of Muhammad’s first wife, Khadija, who was the first person to believe Muhammad's message and played a key role both in his developing the faith and in the early Muslim Community. Let’s pray today for a movement among Muslim women and for God to use these women to influence their homes, their extended families and their communities for the sake of the Gospel.Father, it’s no surprise that Muhammad was deeply influenced by his wife. We see in scripture the incredible influence and the critical role that women play in your plan of salvation, even the first people to testify of your resurrection were women. So we ask today for an outpouring of your spirit on Muslim women. That you would speak to them in dreams and visions and confirm in their hearts the truth of Issa Al-Mesih. And give them great courage and unyielding faithfulness to love and serve their families while bearing witness to the Gospel. Turn the Muslim world upside down by the influence and witness of these veiled gurus. We pray this in your name Jesus. Amen. Today, consider meditating on: John 14:1-7. If you know a Muslim, ask them: Who has been most influential in your faith?

  22. 12

Day 9 - Jesus Who Freely Forgives

On Day 9 we pray for Muslims to see and know Jesus who freely forgives our sin and wrong-doings.Transcript:Day 9: Ramadan is a time for abstinence during the daylight hours—from food, water, and sexual intercourse. If a Muslim is sexually active before sunset, they must fast continuously for 60 more days after Ramadan, or feed 60 of the poor.Forgiveness in Islam is earned, not given. Let’s pray that those diligently seeking to obey God would find rest and forgiveness in the work of Christ. Father, we know that there is no way we could make ourselves right before you or appease your justice on our own. We remember our Muslim friends before you today and ask that you would reveal yourself as the God who sees and freely forgives because of the blood of Jesus. Let those who are abstaining and starving themselves in hope of divine pardon and freedom from the weight of their sins- find you. May the long road to self-earned forgiveness become increasingly burdensome and wearying and may it cast our muslim friends into the path of Grace. Jesus, you are our one hope for reconciliation, there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved so we cry out to you on behalf of Muslims today that you would  be their Pardon, their Salvation, Hope, and Sufficiency. You are ours. We pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Today consider meditating on: 1 John 1:5-10. If you know a Muslim, ask them, with the intent to listen: What makes a person impure before God? How and what removes impurities?

  23. 11

Day 8 - Righteousness by Faith

On Day 8 we pray that Muslims would seek the Righteousness that only Jesus can provide.Transcript:Day eight, because fasting is a pillar of Islam, a Muslim who interrupts or cannot complete the fast is required to either complete the fast at a later date or pay a 'fidya' a ransom for each day missed. Let's pray that God's plan of salvation through Jesus' death is made known to Muslims who are seeking salvation from their sins, rather than through the burden of inevitably incomplete obedience. Father your Word tells us that the Righteousness that you desire has been made known and that your righteousness is given to us through faith, by grace, in Jesus Christ whom you put forth as a sacrifice of atonement for our sins. This is astonishing news! Good News! And we ask that you would have mercy on Muslims who are seeking righteousness through fasting by revealing to them your son Jesus Christ who is our righteousness. Lord, raise up workers who will proclaim a faithful gospel witness in the Muslim World. We ask this in your name Jesus. Amen.Today, consider Meditating on: Matthew 11:28-30. If you know a Muslim, Ask with the intent to Listen: Do you fast? Why, or why not?

  24. 10

    Day 7 - Spiritual Hunger

On Day 7 we pray and ask that the Lord would turn physical hunger into spiritual hunger.Transcript:Day 7, The second meal of each day during Ramadan is called Iftar, begun at sunset, and for many is the grand event of the day, usually a feast to satiate the hunger of 12+ hours without food and water. Let’s pray that a hunger for the True Bread from Heaven be deeply felt by Muslims during this season that no amount of physical feasting will be able to satisfy.Father, we look to your Word that tells us that Jesus is the bread of life and that all who come to him will not hunger. This hunger is not a physical hunger but a spiritual hunger; so today we pray and ask that as Muslims fast, you would transform their physical hunger into spiritual hunger. That as the day wanes on and the Iftar draws near, they would find themselves hungering for real relationship with you, their creator and savior and that even the fasting of the second meal would leave them even hungrier than before until they become aware that their spiritual hunger can only be satisfied in you Lord Jesus. In your name we pray - Amen.Today, consider meditating on: John 6:35. If you know a Muslim, Ask them: Do you experience spiritual hunger? If so, what do you do to be fed?

  25. 9

Day 6 - Walk in the Light

On Day 6 we pray that Muslims would leave darkness and walk in the light of God's revelation.Transcript:Day 6: During the month of Ramadan, Muslims will wake up in the dark to eat and drink before first light- when their fast begins. A wakeup call will sound from the local mosque, signaling the faithful to get up and be nourished and filled for the long day ahead. The irony is this is all done in the dark, racing against the light. Let’s pray for Muslims to stop living in the dark and to hear God’s call to walk in the Light of Jesus, where abundance and new mercies are our daily bread. Father, we lift up Muslims to you today and ask that you would free them from their Darkness and be the Light that shines in their lives. As the call to wake up sounds from the mosque each morning, may the call of Your Spirit also be heard  and may the hungry and seeking wake up. We pray in agreement the words of Zechariah over Muslims to be awakened “because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the sunrise shall visit [them] from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide [their] feet into the way of peace”(Lk. 1:78-79). Let your call of salvation be heard over Muslims today we pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Today, consider meditating on Luke 1:67-79. If you know a Muslim consider asking them, with the intent to listen, “What does God expect of his faithful? How does one live a faithful life?”

  26. 8

Day 5 - Faith Comes by Hearing

transcript:Day 5: In mosques, each night 1/30th of the Qur’an is read aloud in Arabic during Ramadan so that all of it can be heard within the thirty days. The problem is that 80% of Muslims, especially those in South Asia, do not understand Arabic, making these readings essentially meaningless. The Bible tells us that Faith comes by Hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Let’s pray that a deep frustration over the lack of understanding would create a hunger to know God’s Word and the God who has spoken it.Oh Father, we know that you are a God who loves to communicate and to make yourself known and you have made yourself known through your Word and through your Son Jesus Christ. Lord, during this month, we do ask that you would stir in Muslims a desire to know their creator, to read your Word, and a hunger for a meaningful relationship with you - one that can only be had through Jesus. Amen - Let it be so. Today, consider meditating on: John 1:1-18. If you know a Muslim, consider asking them, with the intent to Listen: Do you read God’s Word? Why or why not?

  27. 7

Day 4 - Poor in Spirit

On Day 4 we pray for weakness over might and that Muslims would find themselves at the end of their own effort and in need of God's help.Transcript:Day 4, In Islamic tradition, in addition to fasting, the month of Ramadan is also seen as a month of victory. Muslims often idolize Muhammad’s Uncle, Hamza, known as (Asadullah) “The Lion of Allah.” because of his might and military prowess. Many of his achievements were accomplished during Ramadan so his life is frequently used as an example of the spiritual and physical strength required of a believer during the fast.Let’s Pray that instead of might, Muslims would experience weakness and come to see that it is “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.” So Father, we ask exactly that, that during this month of prayer and fasting, Muslims would find themselves at the end of their rope, weak and in need of spiritual help. Poor in Spirit. In this place, come Father and show them your power to save through your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and turn the hearts of Muslims to you.Today, consider Meditating on: Titus 2:11-14. If you know a Muslim, consider asking them: Are you Sunni or Shia? What are elements of the faith that are meaningful to you?

  28. 6

    Day 3 - Lasting Peace

On Day 3 we pray for a lasting peace and unity over Muslims.Transcript:Day 3: Some Muslims commemorate the peace treaty of the “Battle of the Camel” between Aisha and Ali on this day. The Sunni and Shia divide was held off here with a temporary peace. That peace did not last and to this day tensions between the two sects draw a sharp line down the face of Islam. We know that peace can only be found in the One whose name is Prince of Peace and God with us. Let’s pray for Muslims to find true peace and unity in that Name. Father, we pray today for the Name of Jesus to be high and lifted up over Muslims. We remember that no amount of fasting and religious rigor could ever bring the peace and unity that our hearts long for. We pray for Muslims to seek your face and find peace from their striving, tension, pain, and sins. Jesus, You broke down the wall of hostility with your own Body- bringing true unity to your followers. We pray that you would do the same for Muslims today- uniting them to your Family through your own blood. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Today, consider meditating on Ephesians 2:14. If you know a Muslim, consider asking them with the intent to listen: What divides people from others and how can there be lasting peace?

  29. 5

    Day 2 - God's History

Day 2 - We pray and ask that Muslims find an interest to read the scriptures and learn God's redemptive story through the prophets like Abraham, Moses and David.Transcript:Day 2 - Because Muslims believe the Qu’ran was revealed during the month of Ramadan there is an increased focus on reading it, even aiming to read all of it, during the month, approximately 20 pages a day. Let’s pray for Muslims that they would be compelled to read the true stories of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus from the Torah and the Injil. And that what they read penetrates their hearts.Father, thank you for the revelation of your story and history of your pursuit of us, your creation. We pray and ask that as Muslims look to their sacred text that it would compel them to seek after you, YHWH, the true and living God and that the narratives of your prophets like Noah and Abraham would show them what it means to have a relationship with you and how to have it through Jesus Chrsit. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.Today, consider spending some time Meditating on: Matthew 5:17-20. If you know a Muslim, consider asking them, with the intent to listen: What is required to fulfill God’s Law?

  30. 4

    Day 1 - Generous Grace

Day 1 Today we pray for The Generous Grace of God to be made known and recognized by Muslims.Transcript:Day 1 - Ramadan is traditionally split into three equal sections of ten. The first ten days focus on repenting of sins and asking forgiveness of Allah. An appropriate greeting to a Muslim throughout Ramadan is “Ramadan Kareem” which implies, “have a generous Ramadan. Today let’s pray for Muslims to encounter generous grace unto salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. “Father, we thank you that your salvation is not by our own good works but only according to your mercy and abundant grace. We pray today for Muslims according to Titus 3, that you would pour out your Spirit in full measure through your Son, Jesus Christ, that they might know your justification by grace and become heirs of the kingdom and live in the hope of eternal life. We pray this in your name Jesus. Amen.Today, consider spending some time Meditating on: John 1:14-17. If you know a Muslim consider asking them, with the intent to listen:  What is grace and how is it received from God in Islam?

Our hope is that these prayers inspire more prayer and more awareness about what God is doing and wants to do in this religious block known as Islam. Please note, that we are not creative geniuses and have not created our prayers from scratch. Instead we have shaped and crafted our prayers based on the prayer guide found at zwemercenter.com which exists specifically to equip Christians to minister to Muslims (you should check it out). Different this season will be that at the end of each prayer we will  offer a scripture to reflect on and a question that you can ask a Muslim friend or acquaintance. Please subscribe to our channel so you can pray along with us each day as we seek a radical turning of Muslims to Jesus during Ramadan.

Day 31 - Jesus, More than a Prophet

On Day 32 we pray Matthew 7:28-29 asking that Muslims would respond to the teachings of Jesus and surrender to him as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.Transcript:Day 31Today is the last day of Ramadan. Please tune in tomorrow for a concluding prayer and thank you.Today’s verse is Matthew 7:28-29, “And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.” Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, even born of the virgin Mary and performed many miracles. But his status as a prophet comes short of his divinity. Muslims also believe that Jesus was not crucified, instead he was saved by God but was raised to heaven and since he did not die then he did not make atonement for people’s sin. Let’s pray today for Muslims to encounter the true Jesus and become true disciples who love and obey Him.Jesus, we thank you today for your life. That You:6, being in very nature[ God,    did not consider equality with God something to be grasped;7 but emptied yourself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. (Philippians 2:6-7)We ask in your name Jesus that you would reveal yourself to Muslims as more than a prophet, but as the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world. Come in dreams and visions, come with miraculous healings and come with faithful teaching of Bible that the resounding witness of creation, miracles and the Word would confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no other name under heaven by which people might be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.

Day 30 - The Rock of Salvation

On Day 30 we pray some of the last few verses of the Sermon on the Mount - Houses built on rock or sand.Transcript:Today’s Verses are from Matthew 7: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The reality is that many people, including Muslims, are building their lives on self interest and self preservation. Investing in careers, relationships, reputation, money, influence, and health. These are all things that will not be able to endure the floods and the winds of life. We need the Rock of Salvation, Jesus Christ, to change us and show us His higher ways.Father, we pray today for Muslims, that the instability of building a life apart from Jesus would prove to be sinking sand. Work among Muslims bringing them to the end of their self-built security that they might see that it is all smoke and mirrors. We ask that you, Jesus, would make yourself known as the true and firm foundation, the Rock of Salvation and the only one worth building our lives, our hopes and futures on. Build your Church among Muslims in South Asia.In Jesus Name, Amen.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/30

    Day 29 - Doing the Father's Will

On Day 29 we pray Matthew 7:21-23 for believers in Muslim Contexts.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/29Content:Today’s scripture is Matthew 7: 21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”In Islam, someone becomes a Muslim simply by reciting the shahada (Islamic declaration of faith) with conviction. Jesus says merely saying ‘Lord, Lord’ will not be enough to enter the kingdom of heaven. Today, as we pray for these people, ponder what it means to do the will of the Father who is in heaven. Father, we pray for churches among these people who would trust Jesus’ teaching, be strengthened by His Spirit, and, with grace and wisdom, acknowledge Christ before others. We also pray for brothers and sisters who, in moments of persecution, have denied Christ out of fear. Restore them to yourself, just as you did Peter after he denied you three times. And for those who will stand before courts and governments to testify to Who You are. Give them the words to speak by Your Holy Spirit. And let the judges, lawyers, and officials Who are listening and hearing be drawn to You. Draw them to Yourself, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

Day 28 - Known by the Fruit

On Day 28 we pray for Muslims to desire real fruit that comes from the heart and for the Church in Muslim contexts to produce fruit that draws people to Jesus.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/28Transcript:Today’s Scripture is Matthew 7:15-20“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits… every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit… Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” Like most people, Muslims care deeply about their outward appearance or reputation in the community. In contrast, Jesus cares about the person’s heart. Religion can change outward behavior but can not change inward attitudes—only the Spirit of God can do that. Pray for Muslims to be convicted about their need for a clean heart and to seek out Jesus’ teachings on the topic.Father, we ask for an overwhelming disillusionment from the inability to produce good fruit apart from you. We pray for Muslims to hear and believe the gospel, be filled with your Spirit, and thus bear good fruit. We also pray for churches in Muslim contexts to continually grow deeper in the Word, that both what they believe and how they live will match what your Word says and that you would protect your church helping them discern between prophets and wolves.. In Jesus name, Amen.

Day 27 - The Golden Rule

On Day 27 we pray Matthew 7:12-14 asking the Lord to empower followers of Jesus to live lives of humility and service. Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/27Transcript:Today’s Scripture is Matthew 7: 12-14 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:12-14) When followers of Jesus live loving lives of sacrifice, it adorns the gospel that they preach. Father, we pray for the believers who live in Muslim countries today, that You would empower them to choose to honor others, to forgive, to offer hospitality, and to serve with humility, giving their lives for Jesus’ sake, calling others to the narrow way. Give them joy on the narrow way even when the road is marked with suffering. Give them the grace needed to say “yes,” even when it is hard. Give them joy in the midst of suffering so that their testimony rings loudly in the ears of a watching world. May Christians in these countries be known by their acts of service and hearts of love, even when it is costly. In Jesus name, Amen.

Day 26 - God our Good Father

On Day 26 we pray Matthew 7:9-11 asking for Muslims to experience the Goodness of God as their Father.content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/26Transcript:Today’s Scripture is Matthew 7:9-11 “Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Muslims do not refer to God  as “Father”. In their minds, this moniker is too personal. Instead, he is Allah, the Creator and Sustainer. Today let’s ask for God to burn a holy curiosity in the hearts of Muslims to want to know more about God as their Heavenly Father. So Father, today we pray and ask that you would invade the world of Islam with the reality that you are not only omnipotent but also a “Father.” Yes, you are Master, King, Creator, and Lord as well, but You also invite us in even closer and allow us to be your children. Lord, let those who worship a God who might seem holy but impersonal run right into Jesus, the God-Man who is holy and very personal. And then, Father, let them receive the good gifts of faith, salvation, and the peace only you can give. In Jesus name, Amen.

Day 25 - The Log in the Eye

On Day 25 we pray Matthew 7:3-4 asking that God would give us eyes to see our own hypocrisy.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/25Transcript:Today’s scripture is Matthew 7: 3-4 “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. “ It is very easy for us to come into a conflict blaming the other person for causing the problem. When we do that we fail to realize that we also have a part in the conflict. Our sinful hearts betray us when we only cast blame. Let’s pray for those in Muslim countries today that their hypocrisy, like ours, would be revealed and that they would turn to Jesus as the true way to make peace. Father, you know that it is easier to point the finger at others than it is to acknowledge our own sinfulness before You. As a people, we are deeply broken. Today, as we focus our prayers on those who follow Islam, we are asking that You would start revealing to them what is really in their hearts. Give them eyes to see their own hypocrisy. (And give us eyes to see ours as well). We are a people who need You with every fiber of our being. Help us, Father… In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 24 - The Knowable God

On Day 24 we pray Matthew 6:31-32 asking God to make himself known as the knowable God.content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/24Transcript:Today’s verses are Matthew 6:31-3231 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.It is taught in Islam that, “You may not have complete transcendence and self-revelation at the same time.” Which is a lofty way of saying that in order for God to remain God, He cannot be known. As a result of this idea, many Muslims feel like God is distant. The truth is, God Almighty wants an intimate relationship with His followers because He is a good Father who knows even the hairs on our heads (Luke 12:7).Father, thank you for making yourself known to us and for choosing to know us. We ask today that you would reveal yourself to followers of Islam as the One True God whose desire is to know and be known by your people. You are unique and yet choose to draw near. You have done this by sending us your son, Jesus, who has made you known and whose life, death and resurrection has made possible the way for us to know you. Make this Truth known is the Muslim world. In Jesus Name, Amen.

    Day 23 - The Heart's Treasure

On Day 23 we pray Matthew 6:21 asking for Muslim's to learn and know the heart of God.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/23Transcript:Today’s verse are Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” It is a common assumption among Muslims (and many Christians) that material wealth is evidence of being favored by God. Likewise, the converse is also true: lack of material wealth is evidence of being out of God’s  favor. In this passage, Jesus encourages His followers to invest their lives in laying up treasures in heaven and not material wealth. Let’s Pray today for Muslims to ponder where the true treasure of their heart is.Father, your kingdom economy is different from ours. You value character and what is on the inside of a person, their heart - and not what’s on the outside. We pray today for Muslims to be brought along in this journey of learning and knowing the heart of God, to value the things that He values and to invest in eternity. Jesus, you are the only door by which one may enter into relationship with God and have eternal life. Show Muslims in South Asia that you are the only thing, the only one worth treasuring. In Your Name, Amen.

Day 22 - The Heart of Fasting

On Day 22 we pray Matthew 6:16-18 asking for Muslims Hunger for relationship with the God of the Bible.Content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/22Transcript:Today’s verses are Matthew 6:16-18, “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret.”Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and fasting is prescribed for Muslims as an act of worship and a form of spiritual purification. It is meant to develop a person’s taqwa, which means being conscious of God, pious and self-restrained. All men and women are required to fast by abstaining from food, water, smoking, sexual relations and immoral behavior from sun up to sun down. Today, let’s pray for fasting Muslims.Father, we ask that Muslims who are fasting to be seen by others find their fast empty. We pray for Muslims who are simply following the culture, awaken them from their slumber and open their eyes to see You Jesus. For those who deeply long to please God but do not know who He is, Oh Lord, please reveal yourself to them in dreams, bring them to a believer who will speak of you, Jesus or to the Gospel online. We pray for true fasting that hungers to know God as revealed in Jesus Christ by His Spirit. Amen.

    Day 21 - The Lord's Prayer

On Day 21 we pray the first few lines of the Lord's Prayer asking for God's will to be done in the Muslim World.content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/21Transcript:Today’s verse is Matthew 6:9 The beginning of the Lord’s Prayer.“Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Today we will pray this prayer with Muslims in mind:“Father, we praise you because you are God, there is nothing and no one like you who sits enthroned in the heavens as the omnipotent creator of the universe and yet draws near to your creation as a loving papa - not just desiring relationship with us but forging the way by sending your own Son to pay the penalty for our sins, erasing our shame and adopting us as your children. Let the truth of this Good News go forth extending your Kingdom into the hearts and lives of Muslims in South Asia. Jesus we pray according to your word, that the will of God, which is that all men would be saved and come to knowledge of Him, would be done during this season of Ramadan. Jesus, in your name we pray - Amen.

Day 20 - The Heart of Prayer

On Day 20 we pray Matthew 6:5,8 thanking God for His invitation to us to engage Him in real relationship through prayer and asking that Muslims be drawn to the same.content uniquely adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/20Transcript:Today’s verses are Matthew 6:5-8, “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. ... And do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”The idea of Islamic Ṣalāh (Sa-Laah), that is ‘prayer,’ describes the memorized recitations that Muslims must speak and the prescribed motions they must go through five times a day. Yet the idea of prayer presented by the Scriptures is one of two-way conversation with God where followers of Jesus engage in relationship with their savior. Today, let’s ask for Muslims to have  a divine encounter with God through prayer.Father, thank you for engaging us in real relationship and giving us prayer as a means of conversing with you. We pray today for the Muslim world. That you would stir in them a longing for more, for a real relationship with you that breaks the box of memorized recitations and prescribed times of prayer. Pour out a spirit of prayer so that as they voice the longings of their hearts they would be met by you, the only one who can truly hear and respond to our prayers. In Jesus Name - Amen.

Day 19 - The Generosity of God

On Day 19 we pray Matthew 6:3-4 into the Islamic pillar of Zakat and specifically ask for the Generosity of God, in giving his Son, to impact the Muslim world.content uniquely adpated from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/19Transcript:Today’s verse is Matthew 6:3-4, “ But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” The third pillar of Islam, is Zakah (Za-khaah), Which is the obligation of submitting a set percentage of one’s profitable wealth to charity and is expected of all qualifying Muslims and  is not optional but compulsory. Jesus teaches a new way of giving that flows from the heart as an act of worship and is the antithesis of earning or even buying favors from God.Let’s pray for Muslims to know the generosity of the Father through the gift of His son. Father, we ask today that the required giving demanded by Islam would work to reveal self-righteousness and the damaging underlying belief that favor with you can be bought with money or good deeds. In place of this would You  make known your generosity towards us in sending your son to die and extend to us the free gifts of forgiveness and restoration. As Muslims encounter you, a generous God, let that overflow as generosity from their lives towards those who are truly in need. In Jesus Name, Amen

Day 18 - Love your Enemies

On Day 18 we pray Matthew 5:43 asking that Muslims would encounter the love of God who gave His son to make enemies into sons.Content Uniquely adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/18Transcript:Today’s verses are Matthew 5:43-46 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.”The Muslim world is marked by great animosity. Tension and hatred between Muslims and Hindus; between, Muslims and Jews and even between Muslims like the Sunni and Sufi. In today’s verses we see God’s intention for relationships between people, one marked by Love. Oh Father, you embodied this teaching by sending your son Jesus, in the greatest act of Love ever known, to die on behalf of your enemies in order that they might be reconciled to you. Lord, let your goodness shine and your love shower down on Muslims in such a way that they cannot help but see you, Jesus, the lover of their souls and turn to you to receive their love and lay down their hatred. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 17 - Turn the Other Cheek

On Day 17 we Prayer Matthew 5:38 asking that the counter-culture values of forgiveness and humility would have a deep impact on Muslims.Content uniquely adapted from https://ramada.prayer.tools/fuel/17Transcript:Today’s scripture is Matthew 5:38  “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”It is surprising how often Christians from a Muslim background refer to Matthew 5:38 when they share their testimony. Jesus’ teaching to “turn the other cheek” is astonishing to many Muslims, as it presents a perspective on forgiveness and humility that is unfamiliar in their cultural context. Father, we pray today that the counter-cultural values of your Kingdom, specifically those of forgiveness and humility, would strike a chord in the hearts of Muslims showing them your better way. We also ask that you would raise up this kind of counter-cultural believers to work and live in Muslim contexts and their radical obedience to you, Jesus, would open their hearts and eyes to the wonder of you as Lord and King.In Jesus Name - Amen.

  48. -14

Day 16 - The Foundation of Truth

On Day 16 we pray Matthew 5:33ff over the Muslim world that they would value and pursue truth which will lead them to the truth in Jesus.content adapted from https://ramadan.prayer.tools/fuel/16transcript:Today’s verse is Matthew 5:33,34 & 37, “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all … Simply let your “yes” be “yes” and your “no be “no.” Islam teaches that Lying is a sin and the source of all kinds of evil. However, the Koran also states that there are some instances in which lying is permitted, specifically: if it serves a greater purpose or wards off a greater harm. It is also taught that people should “adopt a strategy by using statements that have multiple meanings and could serve the purpose of the demand.” and therefore to be deceptive without telling a lie. This allowance has bread mistrust in Muslim communities that affect every area of life, even one’s relationship with God.So Father, we worship you because you are the God of truth, that in you is no shadow of turning. Jesus we worship you because you are the truth and your word is truth. We pray and ask that you would bring your truth and the conviction of truth to Muslims in South Asia. Use your word, Lord Jesus, to dissipate the mistrust that keeps people from true relationship as well as the lies spread by religious leaders that keep people from you.In Jesus name, Amen.
