Booked Out with Bre
by Bre Cain | Virtual Assistant Wealth Coach
I’m your host, Bre Cain, and I’m here to help you unapologetically book out your business and your life. When I became a mom over six years ago, I thought that I had to choose between being a mom or having a career. I originally went back to my 9 to 5 and I lasted three months then I realized that my priorities had completely changed. So, I became a stay at home mom and it has been a roller coaster ride over reclaiming my sovereignty within motherhood, womanhood, and entrepreneurship. I truly believe that as moms, we can have it all; the booming business, being booked out with clients were obsessed with, being present during our time with our children, and having the ability to say yes to what lights us up and no to what doesn’t. I have built a six figure business in part time hours from home alongside my kids & I want to teach you how to do this too! I started my business as a virtual assistant to now helping women get paid & be unapologetic in motherhood. I am here to normalize 5-

111. Team Talk Show Premiere: "Did I Adopt an Adult?" & The Unpaid COO Problem
In this episode of Booked Out with Bre, I'm SO excited to launch a brand new format: the Team Talk Show! This is the live call-in show where founders, VAs, and our emotionally attached Slack threads all come together. As a founder who has built a multi-million dollar business with an incredible team and as a mentor to thousands of elite VAs, I've seen both sides of the table, and today, we're getting into the real and raw questions. I'm answering two juicy "call-in" questions that get straight to the heart of team dynamics. First, a tired founder asks, "I hired a VA to work less, but now I'm answering more questions than ever. Am I delegating wrong, or did I accidentally adopt an adult?" Then, a VA calls in with a classic case of scope creep: "My client keeps asking me what to do... I'm basically the COO without the pay. How do I bring this up without getting fired?" In this first-ever Team Talk Show, you'll learn: Why your new VA might feel like more work, and the two critical components to fix it: hiring for character and clearly defining "what done looks like." My proven strategy for vetting VAs with test projects before you even get on a call. The non-negotiable step every founder must take to empower their team: creating a Company Handbook. For VAs: The exact script to use when "scope creep" happens, allowing you to renegotiate your role and pay from a place of power. Why setting firm boundaries is the sexiest thing you can do as a VA and will earn you more respect from your clients, not less. This is a must-listen for both founders who want to build a truly supportive team and for VAs who are ready to step into their leadership. Plus, I'm sharing my big vision for where this "Team Talk Show" is headed (hint: think in-person studio!). Episode Outline: Welcome to the First-Ever Team Talk Show (01:38) Caller #1: A Founder Who is Tired - "Am I Delegating Wrong or Did I Accidentally Adopt an Adult?" (03:11) Why This Happens: The Two Core Issues (Hiring & Expectations) (05:00) Hiring the Right Person: Look for Character & Aptitude, Not Just Tech Skills (06:00) The Power of the Test Project to Vet Real-World Skills (08:00) Founder Leadership: Clearly Articulate "What Done Looks Like" (09:28) Your Homework: Create a Company Handbook (Mission, Vision, Values, Standards) (10:30) How to Lead a "Team Reset Call" to Reinvigorate Your Team (14:00) Caller #2: A VA Who is the Unofficial COO - "How Do I Ask for More Pay Without Getting Fired?" Angi's story is such a beautiful example of blending practical skills with intuitive, creative gifts to build not one, but two thriving businesses. After 20 years in a draining government job, Angi knew she was meant for more. She had already built a successful side hustle as a tax preparer, which grew into a full-scale accounting firm, Wildflowers Tax and Accounting. It was through serving her small business clients that she saw a massive need for back-office and virtual assistant support, which led her to the VA world and eventually to building her own VA agency, Honeybee VA. 103. The Unapologetic Art of Having It All: Why You Can't Do It All At Once—A Conversation with Legend Pat Benatar
In this episode of Booked Out with Bre, I am absolutely honored and bursting with excitement to introduce you to a personal legend and a woman who perfectly embodies the unapologetic pursuit of a big life: the one and only Pat Benatar! Pat is not only a multi-award-winning music icon but also a devoted wife, mother, and now children's author, and she is sharing the unedited, raw truth behind building an empire while keeping your family unit solid. This conversation is a masterful journey into life, career, and alignment. Pat shares her incredibly honest story—from manifesting a career after quitting the teacher track to her legendary, "lightning bolt" meet-cute with her musical partner and husband, Neil Giraldo ("Spyder"). She is living proof that you can follow your soul’s calling, but her wisdom comes with a crucial caveat for all mothers striving for success. Here’s what I dive into with Pat: Her Incredible Origin Story: From a working-class, loving upbringing to a "Julie Andrews" sounding singer who had to teach herself how to rock and roll. The Lightning Bolt: The legendary, tension-filled story of meeting Neil "Spyder" Giraldo when both were unavailable—and knowing instantly they were destined to create art (and family) together. Rock Star Motherhood: Navigating touring for 47 years, building cribs into tour buses, and the intentional effort to keep her daughters' home life "normal" despite the chaos. The Critical Caveat: Pat’s most important wisdom for ambitious women: "You can do everything, you just can't do it all at once."—and why rejecting that lie is essential for peace. The "Fourth Quarter": Finding calm, intention, and abundant presence in this stage of life, and the amazing "redo" of being a grandparent. Legacy & Love: The sweet inspiration behind her new children's book, My Grandma and Grandpa Rock, drawn from her grandchildren's assumption that all grandparents perform on stage. If you’re ready to stop striving for 1000% perfection and start building a solid, abundant life that honors your calling and your family, this episode will anchor you in the most important truth of all. 91. Trusting Your Gut to Build a VA Business: A Live Q&A on Husbands, Past Failures & Self-Doubt
In this episode of Booked Out with Bre, I'm hosting an unhinged, live Q&A session and group hangout where we dive deep into the real, raw mindset shifts required to build a business you love. This isn't about the step-by-step tactics; it's about tapping into the one thing that will make or break your journey: your own self trust. I know the questions you're asking because I've been there myself. What if my husband isn't on board? What if I've invested in things before that didn't work out? Am I truly cut out for this? I'm sharing my own story of navigating these exact challenges... from my husband's initial skepticism about my business to investing thousands of dollars before I saw a real return. Here’s what I cover in this heart-to-heart conversation: How to tap into your intuition and make decisions from a place of deep knowing, not fear. The two identities living inside you (the one that wants to stay safe vs. the one that knows anything is possible) and which one to listen to. My #1 life hack for getting your partner's support instead of asking for permission. How to reframe past failures as the very things that are preparing you for massive success. My answer to the common concern: "Is the virtual assistant industry oversaturated?" Why positioning yourself as a "category of one" is the key to making saturation irrelevant. How even the lowest moments can be the catalyst that leads you to your biggest breakthroughs. If you're on the edge of your next big move but are wrestling with doubt, this episode is for you. It's a loving permission slip to trust yourself, choose your highest truth, and take the aligned next step toward the life and business you know you're meant for. Episode Outline: Introduction: A Live Hangout on Self-Trust & Taking the Next Step (00:35) The Two Voices: Navigating Internal & External Doubts in Your Virtual Assistant Journey (01:22) Bre's Story: Navigating an Unsupportive Partner & Direct Sales (04:45) Making the First Big Investment & The Fear of Going All-In (06:43) Protecting Your Vision: "Don't Touch Baby with Dirty Hands" (09:52) The Two Identities: Choosing to Build Your VA Business from Possibility, Not Safety (12:37) Q&A: "My husband isn't on board after other ventures didn't pan out." (16:20) The Highest Self Hack: Making Decisions for Your Virtual Assistant Business from Your Future Identity (17:05) The "Ask for Support, Not Permission" Strategy (19:16) Bre's Personal Journey: Doing Whatever It Takes to Make It Happen (22:25) The Evolution of a VA Business: From the Kitchen Table to an Office (24:35) Reframing Past "Failures": How "Rock Bottom" Can Lead to a Breakthrough (26:06) Finding the VA Industry After Things Didn't Work Out (28:33) Q&A: "I'm concerned about the Virtual Assistant industry saturation." In this episode of Booked Out with Bre, I'm spilling the tea on how to attract and book high-value virtual assistant clients – the ones who truly value your expertise, don't haggle on rates, and become long-term partners! This is the pre-party to my upcoming 3-day program, 1% VA, and trust me, it's juicy! I'm sharing a recent "aha!" moment from my VA agency where multiple powerhouse clients, back-to-back, described the exact same qualities they look for in a VA. It's not just about tasks; it's about speaking their language – the language of outcomes, ROI, and strategic growth. Here’s what you’ll learn: The critical difference between "task language" (what most VAs use) and "outcome language" (what high-value clients actually want to hear). In this episode of Booked Out with Bre, I'm welcoming back Ellen Smith for part two of our conversation. After sharing her incredible story of going from a $20/hour VA to running a 4K month business (with some twists and turns along the way!), we're diving into the nitty-gritty of navigating business pivots. We're getting real about the hard stuff – the self-doubt, the questioning, and the pressure that comes with making big shifts. Ellen's sharing her experiences and insights, and we're both getting honest about what it really takes to embrace the pivot process and come out stronger on the other side. This isn’t just relevant for Virtual Assistants, its helpful for entrepreneurs in general. Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode: Why it's so easy to make it mean something about you when your business isn't working, and how to shift that mindset. Why your strategy is the least important thing about you, and how to cultivate the grit, resilience, and leadership that will make you unstoppable. Why asking "why?" is the most powerful question you can ask when you're feeling unaligned. How to sit with uncomfortable feelings and resist the urge to sweep them under the rug. That it’s okay to make small or big shifts (and how to navigate that decision). How to use the phrase "or are you going through it"" to give yourself space to figure out what is to come. How to implement strategies to make the process easier like what is to come, and making it that it is OK. How the VA industry is one that you want to grow with, not against, and create something special from your life and skills. The Gap and The Gain and how training your brain can help you look for good and be more successful. How you should try to look for valuable team in your business, and where to find them. A story about making something of yourself and then finding your way to being the best of both worlds. Some people can be on the same track as you, and how that helps everything get better.
