    The lost art of disagreeing.

The title says it all. I think as a society we have become more and more allergic to any form of inconvenience (physical, mental, emotional, …) and it affects the way we communicate and treat others. I am for the school of thought of bringing back debates: respectful, opposing conversations because there’s is so much value in multiplicity. Diaspora Dilemma: Survivor’s Guilt or Saviour’s Complex?

In this episode, I’m tackling a deeply personal and complex question: Should members of the African Diaspora return to the motherland, or is it better to stay and build where we are? It’s a conversation I’ve had with myself countless times. Who do you become once you leave the place you know as “home”? How do we balance our dreams for Africa with the challenges of reintegration? This isn’t about finding the “right” answer—it’s about unpacking the emotions, opportunities, and struggles tied to this decision. If you’ve ever felt torn between staying and returning, this one’s for you. Let’s talk it out.Chapters00:00- 03:26: Introduction03:26- 05:06: What is the diaspora?05:06- 10:07: When expectations don’t align10:07- 15:28: Evolution of my own perspective 15:28- 17:52: The Concept of Identity17:52- 20:10: The issue with denial of pluri-identities20:10- 21:52: Finding a balance between being and belonging 21:52-26:35: The Know-it-alls and the Guilty26:35- 29:09: I’m just frustrated with the whole thing 29:09- 35:15: New Horizons; How do we move forward together? 35:15- 35:38: Outroig: @glowing_soulIf you enjoyed this discourse, here is a video suggestion: https://youtu.be/mV0WcD1AgwU?si=pJOde4_jaFCmmmnh
