A Man Without Purpose Searches for Pleasure

When was the last time you got to the end of the day and genuinely felt like today had purpose — like you were living, not just existing? For a lot of men, that feeling is rare. And it's not because they don't care. It's because they've slowly drifted into comfort. One distraction at a time. One numbed-out evening at a time.I've been that guy. And in this week's episode I'm talking about why it happens, what it's really costing you (especially as a dad), and the 5 steps to get back to the man you actually want to be.In this episode we cover:→ Why so many men are existing rather than truly living→ The real cost of numbing out — short term and long term→ The dopamine trap and why your brain works against you→ The "integrity gap" — the distance between the man you say you want to be and the man your actions show→ 5 practical steps: Awareness, Responsibility, Breaking the Pattern, Rebuilding Purpose & Integrity as a Way of Life→ What your kids are actually learning by watching you every dayThis episode also introduces my 90-day reset guide — A Man Without Purpose Searches for Pleasure — a five-module framework with exercises, reflection prompts, a habit tracker, and a companion journal built for men who are ready to close the gap.🔗 Grab the guide here: https://www.grantberardi.com/pvp90dayreset🔗 Companion journal + habit tracker: https://www.grantberardi.com/pvp90dayresetjournaltracker00:00 Meaningful Days vs Surviving01:07 Pleasure Over Purpose02:08 How Numbing Creeps In03:09 My Comfort Trap Story06:06 The Real Cost of Drift06:38 Presence in Relationships08:32 Long Term Regret and Legacy11:25 Why It Happens Numbing Cycle11:40 Dopamine and Modern Hacks13:37 Avoidance and Purpose Deficit14:49 Five Step Way Out15:10 Step One Awareness16:13 Step Two Responsibility17:32 Step Three Break the Pattern20:08 Step Four Rebuild Purpose22:07 Step Five Integrity Lifestyle23:45 Long Term Payoff Vision26:18 90 Day Reset Guide Offer28:29 Final Encouragement and Outro📌 CONNECT WITH ME:Website: grantberardi.com📱 Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad🎙 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN👨‍👧‍👦 For Christian fathers, leaders & men rebuilding their lives from the inside out, check out my community: skool.com/the-kings-men-7411📌 WATCH NEXT:→ Presence Over Perfection | Heart-Led Parenting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYpgBazSpyw&t=1s→ What You Focus On, You Move Towards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDyDMeydiw8&t=39s→ My First 14-Day Fast https://youtu.be/izO9Uf4GEWQ?si=JeaFeNv6QofuNdRVIf this hit home, share it with a man in your life who needs to hear it. What You Focus On, You Move Towards

What you focus on, you move towards. It sounds simple — but it changes everything. In this episode, I'm talking about one of the most powerful truths I keep coming back to: the direction of your life is shaped by what you give your attention to. Your inner talk, your worldview, your default position when things go wrong — all of it determines where you end up.And as a parent? Your kids are watching every single one of those responses. In this episode we cover:→ Why your inner monologue is shaping your reality right now→ The difference between a glass-half-full and glass-half-empty parent — and what your kids absorb from each→ How gratitude creates a "joy ecosystem" in your home→ Why focusing on what COULD go right is more powerful than preparing for what could go wrong→ How to model resilience and positive focus for your childrenWhether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just going through the motions — this episode is your reminder that a shift in focus can change your direction. If you want to work together, I offer counseling and coaching.Links:📱 Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad🎙 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN👨‍👧‍👦 For Christian fathers, leaders & men rebuilding their lives from the inside out, check out my community: skool.com/the-kings-men-741100:00 Why This Episode00:51 The Focus Principle01:41 Driving Lesson Analogy02:11 Inner Talk Shapes Reality03:08 Worldview Without Denial05:34 Ambition And Fear07:16 Faith And Reframing08:17 Self Belief Breakthroughs10:41 Modeling For Your Kids12:30 Optimist Vs Pessimist14:40 Fill Mind And Heart17:12 Gratitude Changes Everything18:35 Weekly Challenge And Goodbye#parenting #fatherhood #parentingtips #emotionalintelligence #raisingkids #dadlife #familyrelationships #parentingpodcast #intentionalparenting #modernparentin #heartledparenting #mindsetshift #parentingtips #positivemindset #consciousparenting

What Actually Matters in a Relationship (Most People Get This Wrong)

What actually matters in a healthy relationship?A lot of people look for shared interests, shared hobbies, shared personality traits — but those things are often surface-level compared to what truly builds a strong relationship over time.In this episode, I talk about why core values matter more than shared interests, why non-negotiables need to be clear early, and why faith, morals, children, and humility can shape whether a relationship becomes strong or unstable.I also share personal examples from marriage, friendships, and life experience to explain why relationships don’t need identical passions — but they do need solid foundations.Topics covered:* Why shared interests aren’t enough* Core values vs preferences* Faith in relationships* Why having children must be discussed early* Moral alignment and ethics* Why humility matters in conflict* Picking up your own mess in marriageHealthy relationships are rarely built on chemistry alone. They are built on what both people refuse to compromise where it truly matters. If this episode helps, subscribe and check out the other episodes.00:00 What Matters Most00:44 Interests vs Values01:05 Metalhead Dealbreakers02:18 Pillars of Marriage03:45 Romance Myths04:45 Compromise on Hobbies06:06 Communication Helps06:48 Non Negotiables List07:05 Faith Alignment08:52 Kids Conversation12:39 Morals and Ethics16:37 Appreciate Differences19:12 Work at It Together23:53 Final Takeaways#relationships #marriage #relationshipadviceformen #relationshipadvice #faithandfamily #healthyrelationships #marriageadvice If you want to work together, I offer counseling and coaching.Links:📱 Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad🎙 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN5QB2hnzZ762WrKq?si=fVLhd9dDSleMFN8FbzewMQ👨‍👧‍👦 For Christian fathers, leaders & men rebuilding their lives from the inside out, check out my community: skool.com/the-kings-men-7411#parenting #fatherhood #parentingtips #emotionalintelligence #raisingkids #dadlife #familyrelationships #parentingpodcast #intentionalparenting #modernparenting

Why Multitasking Is Hurting Your Relationship With Your Kids

In this episode, I talk about why doing one thing at a time might be one of the most overlooked parenting skills today—especially when it comes to building a strong relationship with your kids.We live in a world of constant distraction. Multitasking is normal, encouraged, and often praised—but when it comes to our kids, it quietly costs us connection. When a child comes to us, they don’t just want answers. They want us. I share a simple real-life moment (burnt bacon and all) to show how split attention affects everything—from our work to our parenting—and why being fully present matters more than being “busy.” As a dad and counsellor, I unpack how listening deeply, slowing down, and giving your kids your full attention builds trust, emotional safety, and long-term connection. This episode is for parents who genuinely love their kids but feel stretched thin, distracted, and pulled in too many directions—and want to do better without guilt or perfectionism. If you want your kids to feel seen, heard, and safe with you, this conversation matters.Key themes:• Being present with your kids• Multitasking vs meaningful connection• Emotional safety in parenting• Listening beyond words• Building trust with your childrenIf this resonates, feel free to share it with another parent who needs the reminder.— GrantWork with me: heartinhand1.com💬 Join the community of Christian, growth-minded dads: skool.com/the-kings-men-7411👨‍👧‍👦 For Dads Who Want to Lead with Purpose:Subscribe for weekly episodes that help you grow as a man, father, and husband — with honesty, faith, and practical insight.📸 Follow on Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad00:00 Introduction 00:15 The Importance of Single-Tasking00:40 Multitasking Pitfalls01:10 Focusing on Important Tasks01:33 Parenting and Attention02:36 Quality Time with Kids05:06 Balancing Work and Family07:59 Building Strong Relationships13:46 Final Thoughts and Encouragement14:53 Outro and Call to Action

What ‘Good Enough’ Should Actually Mean for Your Kids

What does “good enough” actually mean for a child? Is it winning? Is it trophies? Is it success on paper? Or is it effort, character, integrity, and how they live every day?In this episode, I talk about the responsibility parents have when teaching kids how to measure themselves — not just by outcomes, but by who they are becoming. We explore:-Why “good enough” is subjective — and why that matters-The danger of tying love and approval to winning-What hyper-competitive environments get wrong-The difference between effort, growth, and complacency-Why unconditional love must never be earnedI also reflect on examples like elite sport, cultural definitions of success, and stories where achievement came at the cost of connection — and what that teaches our kids long term. This isn’t about participation trophies. And it’s not about lowering standards. It’s about teaching kids to:Win wellLose wellWork hardLive with integrityAnd know they are loved regardlessBecause raising "successful" kids isn’t the same as raising good people — and being a good person matters more.If you’re a parent trying to balance discipline, ambition, love, and character — this episode is for you.WORK WITH ME / CONNECT🎙 Podcast — Hi Struggling, I’m Dad!🌐 Website + Coaching: heartinhand1.com📱 Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad👨‍👧‍👦 For Christian fathers, leaders & men rebuilding their lives from the inside out, check out my community: skool.com/the-kings-men-7411Thanks for being here — keep going, keep growing, and choose grace over perfection.00:00 Teaching Your Kids What's, "Good Enough"00:03 The Subjectivity of Success01:45 Michael Jordan: A Case Study in Success04:20 Winning Beyond the Scoreboard06:31 Effort Over Outcome09:36 The Dangers of Conditional Love11:59 Instilling True Values in Kids17:51 Final Thoughts on Parenting and Successteaching kids what good enough means unconditional love and parentingeffort vs winningraising kids with characterintegrity in parenting

    Digital ID: Convenience or Control?

Digital ID: Convenience or Control?Digital ID is being sold to us as convenience, safety, and “progress.”But once your identity, access, money, medical records, and daily life are tied to one digital key…the one who controls that key controls you.In this episode I’m stepping outside my normal parenting content because this topic matters for every father, every mother, and every family. What’s happening right now with Digital ID around the world has massive consequences — and if we don’t pay attention, our kids will inherit a world where freedom is conditional.Over the last few years we’ve watched patterns emerge:• mandatory digital identity systems• centralized biometric databases• accounts frozen for non-compliance• arrests over social media posts• the rise of surveillance-driven “safety” measures• a growing acceptance of two-tier societiesAnd it’s not theory — it’s already here.-Vietnam locked millions out of their bank accounts overnight.-India’s ID system denied food and pensions to the elderly.-China ties digital identity to social credit and access to daily life.-The UK is pushing mandatory ID just to work.-Australia is using a “protect the kids” policy to usher in facial scans and biometric verification. All packaged as “for your safety.”All justified as “the greater good.”All done in systems where dissent is punished and compliance is rewarded.Sound familiar? We saw these patterns during COVID.It wasn’t about health — it became about access. And Digital ID is built on the same infrastructure.I’m not telling you what to think.I’m asking you to look, learn, and prepare — especially if you’re a parent.Your kids deserve freedom. They deserve privacy. They deserve a future where they don’t have to “earn” access to their own life.Whether you agree with me or not, you owe it to yourself and your family to understand what Digital ID really is, what it’s already doing in other countries, and what it could become.Don’t be fearful — be aware.Be discerning.Be a protector of your home.👇 Articles and sources are linked below — do your own research:https://www.opengovpartnership.org/stories/navigating-the-risks-and-rewards-of-digital-id-systemshttps://vietnamnews.vn/economy/1721534/more-than-86-million-bank-accounts-to-be-terminated-from-september-1https://thewire.in/politics/rights/digital-exclusion-poor-elderly-face-the-brunt-of-aadhaar-based-authentication-errorshttps://bfsi.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/industry/how-did-massive-aadhaar-data-leak-happen-its-impacthttps://www.loc.gov/item/global-legal-monitor/2025-07-09/china-centralized-internet-id-system-officially-launchedhttps://www.hrw.org/news/2017/12/12/chinas-chilling-social-credit-blacklisthttps://sccei.fsi.stanford.edu/china-briefs/assessing-chinas-national-model-social-credit-systemAnd if you want to be part of a community of strong Christian men pursuing growth, courage, integrity, and truth…I’ll leave a link below.💬 Join the community: skool.com/the-kings-men-741100:00 Introduction to Digital ID Concerns00:40 Digital ID in the UK: A Mandatory Shift02:08 Australia's Social Media Ban and Digital ID04:27 Global Examples: Vietnam and India08:48 China's Digital ID and Social Credit System10:43 The Implications of Digital ID18:36 Call to Action: Protecting Freedom and Privacy👨‍👧‍👦 For Dads Who Want to Lead with Purpose:Subscribe for weekly episodes that help you grow as a man, father, and husband — with honesty, faith, and practical insight.Work with me: heartinhand1.com📸 Follow on Instagram: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dadRumble: rumble.com/user/GrantBerardi#Fatherhood #ChristianMen #Purpose #Faith #MensPodcast #DadLife #Leadership #HiStrugglingImDad

The Power of Being Wrong: Why Being a “Fallible” Dad Makes You a Better Father

Being a dad doesn’t mean being perfect—it means being real.Too many fathers grow up believing that failure is something to fear, that apologizing is weakness, or that admitting mistakes will make their kids respect them less. The truth is the opposite: when you’re willing to be fallible, you don’t just become a better dad—you give your kids permission to grow, fail, and try again without fear.In this episode, I share why being fallible matters, how it makes you more relatable to your kids, and how it builds trust, authenticity, and resilience in your family. Your children don’t need a perfect father—they need a present one who owns his mistakes, shows integrity, and keeps moving forward. If you’ve ever struggled with the fear of failure, or with admitting your mistakes as a dad, this conversation will encourage you to see fallibility as a strength, not a weakness.Timestamps:00:00 Introduction: Embracing Fallibility as a Parent01:09 The Unrealistic Standards of Infallibility02:15 The Importance of Apologizing and Owning Mistakes03:31 Teaching Kids to Embrace Failure04:31 Practical Steps to Show Fallibility07:18 Relatability Through Fallibility10:25 Encouraging Integrity and Honesty12:14 Conclusion: The Benefits of Being FallibleSubscribe for more conversations on fatherhood, faith, and growth.Your kids don’t need a perfect dad. The Importance of Fathers | Father’s Day Encouragement

The Importance of Fathers | Father’s Day EncouragementFatherhood is one of the most powerful roles a man can hold. This Father’s Day in Australia was the first one without my dad, and it stirred something in me. It reminded me just how vital fathers are—not only in their children’s lives but also in families and society as a whole.I didn't expect to take this turn in this episode, but when I started talking I felt that some fathers out there needed encouragement. Encouragement whilst going through a dark time, having dark thoughts. Encouragement that they don't have to give up and that they are worth more than what they believe. You are important. Your family are better off with you here. In this episode, I talk about:💡 Why fathers are more than “providers”—they’re examples, leaders, and protectors💡 The impact of father absence on kids (studies on incarceration, teen pregnancy, depression, and more)💡 The difference between just “being there” as a dad vs. being fully present and invested💡 Why your family needs you—even when you feel like you’re not enough💡 How fatherhood shapes the next generation through example, love, and commitmentIf you’ve ever felt the weight of fatherhood, or even wondered if your family would be better off without you, I want you to hear this clearly: you matter more than you realize. Your presence, your effort, your willingness to keep trying—it changes everything.Fatherhood is too important to half-commit. It’s a gift, a responsibility, and one of the greatest joys in life.🙏 If this episode encourages you, please like, subscribe, and share it with another dad who needs to hear it.Links & Resources:🎙 Listen to the podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN5QB2hnzZ762WrKq📸 Follow me on Instagram: @hi_struggling_im_dad and @grantberardiSubscribe on Youtube: @grantberardi Want counselling and coaching support from me? - www.heartinhand1.com "Hi Struggling, I'm Dad!" is a podcast dedicated to helping people be the best parents, partners and people they can possibly be.I'm Grant Berardi, a father of 5 kids, a husband of 15 years, a qualified counsellor and coach with over a decade of experience. Why You Keep Sabotaging Yourself (and How to Stop)

We’ve all been there. You start making progress, things are going well… and then out of nowhere, you sabotage yourself. You slip back into old habits, old beliefs, and the same familiar patterns. Why? Because deep down, many of us don’t believe we’re worth more than the pain we’ve gotten used to. I Should’ve Started This a Year Ago…

I'm not going to give the crafted Youtube description I normally do. I spoke from the heart, unscripted and raw in this one. Yes, my episodes are also normally unscripted bar some talking points, but this one I had 1 mission to talk about and just pressed record. A year ago whilst praying, I felt very clearly that God told me to "start a community". But, I chickened out. I doubted the "how" and logistics of it. I didn't have an audience, it didn't make sense to me, and I avoided it, for a full 12 months. But the pull to do this hasn't gone away, which is why I'm making this now. I am passionate about helping others, and have felt for a while now to help men and fathers to grow into their fullest potential. Particularly in key areas like fatherhood, as Christians, and as a husband. So this is my declaration and a glimpse into what's to come. I hope you join me.-GrantLinks & Resources:🎙 Listen to the podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN5QB2hnzZ762WrKq📸 Follow me on Instagram: @hi_struggling_im_dad and @grantberardiSubscribe on Youtube: @grantberardi

Comfort Is the Enemy of Growth

In this episode, I share the real, raw journey of stepping outside my comfort zone over the past three years — from leaving a steady job to chasing purpose, calling, and discomfort in all the right ways.Whether it's your career, your relationships, or your faith… growth only happens when you're willing to get uncomfortable.I unpack a recent conversation with a close friend who's wrestling with the same tension, and together we explore why breaking free from old mindsets and societal norms is so necessary — especially for men called to lead, build, and leave a legacy. You can't grow from your comfort zone, and this video looks into how through stretching yourself and being uncomfortable, you become the person you were always capable of being.👉 If you’ve been stuck in the safe zone, this episode is your push to step into the stretch.🔔 Subscribe for weekly real talk for people who want to grow, and parents who want to lead. 🎙️ Listen to the podcast: Hi Struggling, I’m Dad!📲 Follow on IG: @grantberardi and @hi_struggling_im_dad💬 Comment below: What’s one area you need to step up and lead by example?#LeadByExample #ChristianFatherhood #HiStrugglingImDad #WalkTheTalk #MasculineLeadership #ParentingWithPurpose #FaithOverExcuses #legacymindset 00:00 Introduction: Embracing Discomfort for Growth00:27 Unlearning Traditional Norms00:55 The Challenge of Change01:21 Personal Reflections on Growth02:41 Balancing Comfort and Growth05:50 A Friend's Struggle with Comfort11:45 Faith and Provision21:23 Encouragement and Final ThoughtsWant counselling and coaching support from me? - www.heartinhand1.com Listen to the podcast at - //open.spotify.com/show/1uSJKNN5QB2hnzZ762WrKq?si=051a145f5aac433d "Hi Struggling, I'm Dad!" is a podcast dedicated to helping people be the best parents, partners and people they can possibly be.I'm Grant Berardi, a father of 5 kids, a husband of 15 years, a qualified counsellor and coach with over a decade of experience.
