How Giving Away Everything Built a Multi-Million Subscriber Channel
In this episode of Impact Through Voice, Lisa Hugo sits down with Unmesh Dinda, the visionary behind the massive YouTube channel PiXimperfect. With over 5 million subscribers, Unmesh has mastered the art of teaching complex Photoshop techniques to a global audience. But beyond the technical skills, Unmesh's success is rooted in a deep philosophy of giving value without strings attached and the meticulous use of audio to keep an audience engaged. Unmesh shares his journey from an eight-year-old playing with Photoshop to speaking on the world's largest stages, like the 1 Billion Followers Summit. We dive into how he developed his accent-free speaking style, his "chaotic" but effective content creation process, and why he believes every creator must find their unique "gift" to truly stand out. Key Takeaways: Audio is Everything: Why high-quality audio is more important than video quality for audience retention in long-form content. The "Value First" Philosophy: The secret to building a loyal community is providing full value without hiding the "good stuff" behind a paywall. Top Voice Specialists Reveal How to Protect Your Voice from Damage & When To Seek Help!
Have you ever wondered what happens when your voice doesn't bounce back? We've all had that morning-after moment — you wake up hoarse and raspy after a night of talking over loud music, shouting at a game, or teaching back-to-back classes. Usually, it's just temporary and resolves with rest and hydration. But what if your voice doesn't recover? What if the hoarseness, vocal fatigue, or even pain linger far too long? In this episode of Impact Through Voice, your host Lisa Hugo sits down with Dr. Marc Muller, an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) specialist, to unpack what really happens when your voice is overused, misused, or neglected. Whether you're a professional voice user — singer, speaker, teacher, or presenter — or someone who simply relies on your voice daily, this conversation dives deep into the mechanics and care of your most valuable instrument. 🎙️ What You'll Learn in This Episode: The anatomy of your voice box: What actually happens when you "lose your voice." The biggest mistake people make when trying to sound louder or more powerful — and how it damages the vocal cords. How to recognize early symptoms of vocal strain, nodules, and inflammation. Why persistent hoarseness might be a sign of something more serious — and when to see a doctor. The surprising connection between your nose, breathing, stomach acid, and vocal health. The role of proper breathing, hydration, and rest in maintaining vocal strength. How singers, teachers, and speakers can prevent lasting damage by learning correct vocal techniques. 💡 Key Takeaways: Your voice is a musical instrument — and misusing it is like banging on piano keys instead of playing with finesse. Chronic vocal issues often stem from improper technique, acid reflux, or poor nasal breathing — not just overuse. Early detection and voice coaching can reverse many voice problems before they become permanent. Proper vocal care involves both medical insight and technique training — a partnership between ENT specialists and voice coaches. 👩⚕️ About Dr. Marc Muller Dr. Muller is a renowned ENT specialist with extensive experience in nasal and vocal health. With a focus on breathing, voice restoration, and preventive care, he provides a unique medical perspective on how lifestyle, posture, and speaking habits affect the voice. 🎧 Tune in if you: Are a singer, teacher, or public speaker struggling with vocal fatigue Regularly wake up with a hoarse or tired voice Want to understand how your breathing and voice are connected Value your voice and want to protect it for life Your voice is not just your tool — it's your identity. Elevate Your Communication By Immersing Yourself In The Language
This week's podcast may seem a bit off-topic from my usual interviews, but on the other hand not really. I always like to interview people who are using their voice to make a difference and today's podcast guest is no exception. Kareem teaches people how to use their voice to make a difference through language skills. Kareem teaches conversational Arabic. He is the Founder of the School Of Yalla. As someone who has travelled a lot and lived in many countries, I do believe immersing yourself in the language of the country you are living in is helpful to establish deeper relationships and have a better understanding of a culture. When living in Germany, I learned German. When living in Belgium, I learned Flemish. However, since living in Dubai, I'm ashamed to say, I have not managed to learn Arabic, bu not from a lack of trying. We talk about the barriers faced when learning Modern Standard Arabic as opposed to conversational Arabic. Kareem teaches us his 'Focus 15' method for learning almost anything, but especially a language. Also the importance of consistency, and the motivational power of setting small, achievable goals. Kareem delves into the differences between Fusha (Modern Standard Arabic) and conversational Arabic. How many Arabic languages are there? We also touche on how trust and effective communication skills can be enhanced by learning a new language, especially for professionals like doctors and executives. Tune in to hear… 01:59 Understanding 'Yalla' and Its Cultural Significance 03:31 Challenges and Strategies in Language Learning 05:41 Kareem's Background and Language Learning Insights 12:39 The Importance of Immersing in a New Language 21:01 Learning Arabic: Practical Tips and Techniques 27:43 Breaking Down Arabic Phrases 31:45 Learning Through Mistakes 36:34 The Language Progress Triangle 42:36 Tailored Learning for Professionals 47:09 Building Trust Through Language https://www.schoolofyalla.com https://www.instagram.com/schoolofyalla Work with Lisa www.lisahugo.com/ Follow Lisa on Instagram www.instagram.com/lisahugoofficial Connect with Lisa on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-hugo

Voice of Change: Dr Kerstin Brehm's Crusade for Women's Empowerment in the Workplace
Are you a woman working in a male dominated workplace who struggles to have a voice, be seen and given the same opportunities as your male counterparts? Yes we've seen a big movement towards women empowerment along with equal rights and salaries, but we are not there yet. In today's podcast episode is VALUE packed with so many take aways. I sit down with Dr. Kerstin Brehm, an esteemed cardiac surgeon from Germany. Kerstin shares her own personal battles with hierarchy and equal opportunity in a high powered, male-dominated field and her journey into consultancy and mentoring ambitious women in business, to speak up, find their voice and secure their future. We talked about salary bands, (initially, I thought we were talking about salary bans, so was a bit confused. 🙄) Dr Kerstin, hadn't negotiated her salary for 11 years because she didn't realise it was possible. As a result, she is passionate about educating others to understand the system. What is vertical and horizontal communication? I had no idea…Kerstin opened our minds to different ways men and women communicate and why this plays a role in opportunities. Have you ever encountered a doctor who didn't seem strong in their communication? Maybe you came out of your consult, still not fully understanding the diagnosis or the diagnosis was communicated without feeling or understanding from a patient's perspective. We talk about the struggles some doctors face with empathy and effective communication along with miscommunications that can also occur between doctors and within teams and how this can lead to devastating results. We are all human, but communication training is lacking in this field. This episode is packed with valuable insights into navigating professional environments, advocating for oneself, and the pivotal role of communication across all sectors.
