The festival season is finally here, and I can feel that shift in energy again. Longer days, warmer weather, everything slowly coming back to life. It always brings a different kind of excitement with it. These past months have been really special. Being able to release new music again means a lot to me, especially together with such incredible artists. There’s something about creating music together that keeps surprising me every time, you never really know where it will take you, but somehow it always ends up exactly where it needs to be. Looking ahead, there are so many shows coming up that I’m genuinely excited for. Some new, some familiar, but all of them I can’t wait to experience with you. After a little break between shows, it always feels a bit unfamiliar to step behind the decks again. Not because it’s been that long, but because playing your music in front of people is such a super special feeling. Something day to day life, and the time in between, doesn’t really compare to. It reminds me of coming back from a holiday, sitting down at your desk, staring at your screen and thinking, "ok… so how do I do this again?" Nothing has really changed. It’s not something you unlearn in a few days. You just need a moment to find your rhythm again, to reconnect with it. But that small gap, between not quite knowing what you're doing and everything clicking back into place, that’s the part that makes me a little nervous every time. At the same time, I know that once I’m up there, surrounded by all of you, it will feel exactly how it’s supposed to. Like it always does. And honestly, that’s the part I’m looking forward to the most. But until that moment is here, I hope you enjoy this month's episode ❤

I've been working on a lot of exciting things lately. The kind of projects that make you want to rush through and skip to the good part. Working through all those different projects and tasks, I notice like I'm running on autopilot. I seem focused, like getting loads more done in less time, but honestly, I'm just way more impatient than usual. My attention span has shrunk and it feels almost impossible to really sit down with something. Whether that's work, or me trying not to work. I can see where all of this is heading, and it looks incredible. I just want it to be here already. The process feels like it's in the way. Which it isn't, of course. If I want to do this right, and I really do, then rushing through it would just mean arriving somewhere I'm not fully proud of. It's more important to do it right than to do it quickly. I have to keep reminding myself of that, and try to slow down enough to actually be present for it. So maybe we start here. Try to listen through this month's episode as a whole. This year is starting out great. It feels really good so far, and it’s made me excited for everything that’s still coming. One of the reasons is that the first release of the year, Into The Light with Tyler Mann, is out today. There’s more on the way too, five more releases over the next six months, and even more after that. I feel really grateful for the people I got to work with in the previous year, and for the music that came out of those moments. There’s something really beautiful and unpredictable about making music together and seeing where it takes you. These songs are a result of that. Before anything else, I want to say thank you, for the support, the messages, the energy, and the moments we shared last year. None of this exists without you. Looking back at 2025, it was a year that started out with uncertainty, writer's blocks and doubt. Searching for that peculiar balance between creativity and business. Some soul searching later, I realised that music will always be the fabric of this whole adventure, creating music that I truly love. Knowing it resonates with you makes every step that much more meaningful. This will be, without a doubt, the most important goal for the new year. As this new year begins, I feel a sense of clarity and purpose. I have a desire to create and build that space where we can slow down together, be present and let the music speak without distraction. Reaching episode 100 last month was pretty unreal. It had become such an integral part of my life. A vital place for me to share my love for music and connect with all of you. Thank you for being such an essential part of my life. I know there hasn't been a lot of new music this year, I was feeling pretty lost for parts of it, but I’ve made some of my best music since then. I will be forever grateful for your support and patience this year. You are everything I could wish for, and more. Can’t wait for 2026 to begin as I'm full of ideas, music and optimism. Distant 100th Episode was everything I could have dreamed of, and that’s thanks to you. Seeing Het Sieraad come alive, feeling the energy and seeing your smiles reminded me of why I started all of this in the first place. I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has been dancing, listening and growing with me in this journey. Playing this set was a huge trip down memory lane. This whole night was dedicated to the past 100 months of Distant, with old releases and loads brilliant tracks that I used to play a lot. I took my own advice from last month and went full nature mode for a little bit. Time away from screens and work, surrounded by mountains, trees and fresh air, just slowing down for a bit. It gave me the chance to reset, recharge and really think about what comes next. Stepping outside of the routine is never wasted time, it is what allows you to see things from a wider perspective. Now that I’m back, I feel eager to dive into work again. At the same time, there are so many projects waiting that I don’t even know where to start. It’s quite overwhelming. I’ve always told myself: it’s not about tackling everything at once, but about taking small steps, one thing at a time, and trusting the rest will follow. Let’s see if I can take my own advice this time. In the meantime, fall is arriving. Summer is amazing, but seasons always change, and personally, I don’t mind it. The shorter days, the colder air, the cozy atmosphere that seems to be everywhere. There’s something comforting about it, and I think that feeling made its way into this month’s episode too. Maybe this mix can be a small reminder to take it step by step and enjoy what is, not what was. Hope you enjoy. PS. next month is episode 100! And for that we will have a special episode. Even though the weather here hasn’t really felt “summerly” these past few weeks, I’ve had an amazing time. I got to visit and play at some incredible places, spent a lot of productive hours in the studio making new music, and, maybe most importantly, had the chance to really be with friends and family. Tomorrow we will close this wonderful summer together at Distant Beach. I can't wait to spend this beautiful time with you. Compared to earlier this year, I feel like I’ve truly found my groove again when it comes to making music. I can be very perfectionistic, always wanting to perform at my best. Which can sometimes knock me down and demotivate me immensely. It’s so easy to be strict with yourself, to believe you have to work every second and try to force the process. But it's way harder, and just as important, to tell yourself to stop and give yourself the time and space to do something else. Watch a movie, play some games, go out and get some food with friends. It’s not being unproductive, it’s recharging. I really believe that when you’re enjoying life, you’re able to create your best work. Running on empty is never going to help Maybe this month’s episode can be that little moment of space and time to recharge. Hope you enjoy

Lately, I find myself at a crossroads, with some big decisions ahead. Maybe all the roads lead to the same destination, but some might be longer or more difficult than others. The thing is, I’ve never walked any of them before, so I don’t know the way. If there’s no one to point me in the right direction, how do you know which way to go? Do you just trust your gut? But what if it doesn’t seem to have an answer? I’m not great with moments like this. I just want to make the right choice, to do the right thing. But without any guidance or experience, it can feel like taking a shot in the dark. For some, the unknown might feel exciting, but for me, it’s honestly a little overwhelming. Still, I believe that whatever choice you make, you will find your way eventually. And if I’ve learned anything, it’s that the decision itself is often more nerve-racking than the path you end up taking. Once you start moving, the way forward will reveal itself, one step at a time. And no matter what, there will always be music to bring a sense of direction when things feel lost. Today marks 8 years since this journey began. Honestly, I almost didn’t realise it until someone pointed it out. I’ve been so focused on the big things ahead, like episode 100, that I forgot to pause and appreciate how far Distant has already come. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the support and the stories you’ve shared about what Distant means to you. It’s wild how something you love so much can also make you feel so unsure of yourself. Making music is one of the most fulfilling things in my life, but at the same time, it can bring out a lot of doubt. One moment you’re excited about an idea, and the next you’re second-guessing everything. But when it finally clicks, when it’s exactly where you want it to be, it’s the most rewarding feeling. I’ve come to realize that those doubts are just part of the creative process. Sometimes they show up out of nowhere and mess with your head for a bit. It doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong, it just means it’s time to take a step back, take a deep breath, and appreciate how far you’ve already come. I hope you find the space to take a step back whenever you're having doubts. And maybe this episode can be a little reminder to appreciate everything you’ve already achieved. I hope you enjoy <3

Although I’ve really enjoyed my time in the studio, now that the sun’s shining and spring is in full swing, I can’t wait to get back on tour. The sun’s been out more lately, and honestly, it’s made such a difference. I always thought I handled the grey winter weather pretty well, but a bit of sunlight really does hit different. I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio lately, stuck in my own little world. Which, inevitably, means insecurities can start to creep in. But kicking off the year with an absolutely epic first Distant show, and being surrounded by all you lovely souls, felt like a complete reset in the best way possible. It’s been two months without any shows, which means I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio and it’s been absolutely amazing! Such a wonderful feeling to take my time and create new music again. I’m super excited to show you what I’ve been working on, but it’s also kinda scary. Very scary, to be honest. This is some of the most personal music I’ve ever made, music created at some of my highest and lowest moments. During that time, I’ve also been working hard on the future of Distant, which makes me even more excited for what’s ahead. So, lots to look forward to! They say bad news comes in threes—but this month, I got four. Maybe it’s just a matter of perception; once something bad happens, we start noticing every bit of bad luck that follows. Or maybe, sometimes, we really do just get hit with everything at once. Either way, that’s just the way it is sometimes. But hey, if all my bad luck came at once, maybe that means I’ve officially used it up for a while. Time to turn the page and start making some good things happen! I’m not really one to make New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I prefer to look back at what I’ve achieved in the past year—the things I’m proud of or the lessons I’ve learned. You never know what the future holds, but you can always learn from the past. Every year, I feel like I say this, but this year really was the craziest one yet. I’m beyond proud of what I’ve accomplished in my music career. The community that Distant and my music have built is just incredible. You’re all so beautiful and kind—a whole new family I never knew I had. On a personal level, though, one of the most important things this year was finding a new sense of direction. Earlier this year, I felt pretty lost—unsure of where I wanted to go or how to get there. I had to dig deep to find both a reason and an answer. Now, I feel like I have a destination, a place I want to reach, and I’m genuinely excited about the journey ahead. In the spirit of learning from the past, this month’s episode has a special nostalgic note to kick off the new year. It’s a way to start fresh while honouring where we’ve come from. Even after all these years of making music, I still find it extremely hard to start with something new. It's always a bit scary, you start overthinking it and instead, you start distracting yourself with other things. Eventually doubt starts creeping in, "can I even do it anymore" and it just gets more difficult. But, once you put everything aside, no preconceived ideas or plans and get yourself to actually begin, it just starts flowing effortlessly and it's like its the most easiest thing in the world. Crazy how thinking about some stuff just makes it more complicated, but when you just start or follow your gut feeling, it all just start happening naturally. The last couple of months where absolutely amazing with such incredible things I was lucky enough to do. Going from one thing to the next, however, doesn't allow a lot of time to process those beautiful moments, enjoy it or reflect on it. Summer season has come to an end. I have really enjoyed this summer, filled with beautiful moments and amazing new opportunities. But now, we are slowly moving back into the long nights. For some reason, autumn always makes me feel pretty nostalgic. It's just something in the air, sunny while it's cold, the huge amounts of rain or the beautiful sunsets, that makes me feel calm and think back on the past few months. It has been a strange couple of weeks. This months started out great! Had some time off, recharged and was super motivated to get into the studio and finally work on some music again! But, for some unexplainable reason, it all kinda got lost. I simply couldn't get into it and slowly, naturally, started questioning all my life choices. It's nothing new and I've had this many times before! It's just a part of the job and a part of life. Nothing wrong with that. A wave we have to ride out. This new episode kinda represents this month. The last few weeks have been an absolute dream. Summer is hard work, but also the most beautiful time of the year. So far, I got to tour the world, playing the magical Tomorrowland and cap it all off with 10 hours of pure bliss at Thuishaven! Summer touring has begon! I'm really looking forward to all the new places I will be visiting this summer. Although traveling is not my strong suit, I am ready to step out of my comfort zone and to learn to be more at peace when discovering new places in the world. I find it incredibly fascinating how every single person has their own very unique taste, what to ourselves can sometimes feels like the absolute truth. I've recently gotten some different comments and messages about what I do, about my music or these episodes, and I truly respect that. I love getting feedback from you guys! It's been incredibly since the start of the year, not with obvious things like shows or releases, but with a lot of personal and musical growth. It's so crazy that the year is already over. Such amazing things have happened. Built a new studio, created my very first merch, sold out multiple Distant shows, got to work on some amazing remixes and finally released some original music again. But man, it can it be stressful. It's still hard really enjoy all those beautiful moments when stress and anxiety get in the way. But I know that at the end of the day, it was all totally worth it and I can look back with pride and happiness to all those things I was able to do. Hopefully you can feel the same. Changing from summer to winter is always little bit of an adjustment. Less sun, more rain, shorter days and more time spent inside. However, once you're used to it, it's cosy and beautiful. It has been a long time, but I've finally released some new original music again! "Power Over Me" together with the very talented Tailor. But more exciting news: this release is only the start of a string of releases we have coming up this year. I can't wait to share all the music I have been working on lately. During the making of this months Episode I was on a little holiday, trying to go off grid for a little bit. And I have to say, it was pretty nice to be a little bit more present and away from the daily routines. I feel like that relaxed feeling is reflected in this episode. It still surprises me how far my music has spread. The stories I get to hear about what the music I make means to people still feel so surreal to me. I do feel o so incredibly special to be able to do what I do. A few weeks ago we had our second Distant Beach event, which was another great succes, I got to travel all over the world and next week I will do my first 10h set in Amsterdam which is also selling like crazy. And in between I have been making a lot of new music that is finally finding its way onto the shelves and into your ears. All coming very soon. Can't wait! The summer season is here! I already had the privilege to play at some outdoor festivals and I have to say, it feels so so good! Definitely my favourite season of the year, as it is for many. The more I look forward to each performance, the more pressure I create for myself and the more aware I become of any expectations that rest on my shoulders. I notice I am less present in the moment, fully focussed on giving it my all and playing the best set I can, at the cost of losing the connection with all the lovely people right in front of me, the crowd. And it is exactly that what this job incredibly beautiful! I am exploring ways to trust in my abilities, while still putting on the best performance I can. To be relaxed, present and able to enjoy our connection to the fullest. Because at the end of the day that’s what it’s all about: enjoying the moment together. I hope this months episode can do the same for you and helps to enjoy this moment a little bit more <3

I'm so happy we have officially started the outdoor festival season again. It has been a long, wet, dark winter. Still, even after 69 (nice) episodes and multiple events, I find it hard to fathom what Distant has become. Last Friday we managed to sell out the most iconic venue in the Netherlands! That's ridiculous. So many beautiful people that come together for something that I started in my bedroom many years ago. It's such an honour and overwhelming experience to be able to share my passion with so many of you. To hear the significance and importance of Distant to some people, is absolutely unintelligible. I can't wait to find out what Distant will grow up to be. Let's keep this train rolling with this months episode. I hope you enjoy <3

In my humble opinion, this might be one of my favourite episodes of the last few months! It also includes some new music I've been working on lately. I'm very proud of how it all turned out! Writing this last part, I had the overwhelming urge to delete it right away. It's interesting how difficult it is to publicly say you're proud of something and mean it, without getting the feeling of being pretentious. It sometimes feels like we are only supposed to focus on the things we can do better to grow and improve, leading to us to lose sight of what we're actually achieving in the process. I know I always do. It's such a calming and liberating feeling to say you're truly proud of something. Hope you find the space to feel proud of your achievements, even if it's of the tiniest thing. Ever realised that when the rollercoaster that is life decides to start rolling, it feels like everything happens all at once. Out of the first corner, the next immediately knocks you back in your seat. I guess that's what makes it exciting, but also extremely overwhelming. In moments like this, and yes I know it sounds cliche AF, nothing slows me down more than listening to music with my undivided attention. Closing my eyes and let the sound and emotion take me anywhere they want to. That's exactly why I started Distant over five and a half years ago. And boy, am I more grateful than ever. Life clearly has its ups and downs and, more often than not, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. Sometimes all you can do is just to let it happen. It's an odd feeling to completely let go of any desire to change things or impulses to act. It feels stressful, but it's funny how much more peaceful it may feel. As cliche as it sounds: it is especially in difficult times that I can find peace in music. It makes me actually feel the things I’m dealing with more profoundly, bringing emotions to the surface. Creating the space to explore them, understand them and accept them. For me, this is such a set. This months episodes explores some very beautiful and emotional music. Is has been two months since I started this full time music adventure and I gotta say, it has been such a relief being able to focus on one thing. I've been enjoying producing music way more, touring seems less stressful and more new exciting things are in the works every day. Today is such a day. It all of a sudden occurred to me that today marks the fifth birthday of Distant! That is ridiculous! The way it has grown in the last few years has exceeded all my expectations. With four crazy sold out nights in De Marktkantine and a Beach edition just a few weeks away, we are working on even more amazing stuff. All thanks to your support. Thank you and I hope we can continue this amazing saga as long as time and space will allow <3

This month marks the month in which I started making music full time! I officially quit my job as an app developer to put all my energy into music. As scary as it is, I’m extremely excited and honoured that I’ve been giving the chance of doing this thing full time. I want to thank everyone who listened to my music, came to my shows and supporter me over the years. It would not have been possible without you! As a special gift, I have created probably one of my favorite episodes to date. I hope you enjoy <3

Distant has come a long way over the last few years. We are already at episode 58, which is absolutely crazy, and we have had multiple events hosted in Amsterdams finest club: De Marktkantine. It is very painful to see her having to close her doors this June. Luckily we have one last chance to give it a proper goodbye.
