"How Do You Want to Feel?" - Reflections, Rest, and Radical Compassion
In this special episode, I’m opening up about one of the most transformative questions I’ve ever been asked: "How do you want to feel?" It’s a question that shaped not only my relationship with my late mother but also how I approach life, mindset, and even the holiday season. This episode is being released on what would have been her 75th birthday, making it an incredibly meaningful and reflective moment for me to share this story with you.I’ll take you back to December 2020, a pivotal time in my life, to explore how this single question helped me move from frustration and judgment to compassion and alignment—not just for others but also for myself. And as we wrap up the year, I’m sharing my journey with rest, a concept I’ve come to embrace as both essential and radical in today’s busy world. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the holidays, struggled with strained relationships, or wondered how to make meaningful changes in your life, this episode will give you tools and inspiration to find clarity, connection, and peace. What I Share in This Episode:A personal story about my mom’s final year and how asking "How do I want to feel?" changed everything. The importance of aligning your feelings and actions with your values. My new relationship with rest—what it means and how I’m learning to incorporate it into my life. The seven types of rest: mental, emotional, social, physical, spiritual, creative, and sensory. How I plan to focus on creativity and rest as I enter 2025.What I’m Reflecting On:How do I want to feel during the holidays? My answer: rested. And yes, I know how radical that sounds in the middle of December! But I’m learning how to redefine rest and show up in a more intentional, calm, and mindful way—even with all the chaos around me.How do I want to feel going into 2025? And how can I reverse engineer my actions to make that happen? My Invitation to You:As you navigate the last few weeks of this year, I encourage you to reflect on how you want to feel—whether that’s toward a loved one, during the holidays, or as you set intentions for the new year. Once you have clarity, you can start to align your actions to move closer to that feeling. It’s a practice that’s transformed my life, and I believe it can do the same for you.Final Thoughts:Thank you for being here with me this year. I’m sending you love, peace, and rest as we close out 2024. Let’s start 2025 feeling aligned and ready to grow together.Book your laser coaching session here. The MUST-HAVE Decision-Making Mindset
I discuss the challenges of decision-making in today's world, emphasizing the importance of starting with the mindset behind decision-making rather than just strategies and streamlining. I introduce the concept of life design, which involves applying design thinking to human lives, and I challenge the belief that there is one singular, best decision to make. I also discuss the concept of decision fatigue, how it's not a lack of willpower, but rather making too many decisions or making the decision-making process too difficult. I also give you some really simple, but highly practical questions to consider as you're thinking about making a decision. And give a shoutout to air fryers! Book your laser coaching session here. This cannot be IT for me. Interview with Jenna Klopfenstein
Think gratitude and wanting more out of your life can't co-exist? Think again. If you are looking for some inspiration and an example of someone who is going for it and making things happen for herself and her family, you are in the right place.Jenna, a high-achiever her whole life, had checked all the boxes of her dreams: married her best friend, excelled in her career as an orthopedic physician's assistant, coaching college soccer, and living in a beautiful home with her husband and two incredible children. Yet she knew this lifestyle was not what her dreams were actually made of. She dreamed of walking her children to school each day, having mid-day check-ins and walks with her husband, more travel for her family. And she knew her current life would not afford that. So she gave herself one year to create that life - walked away from her established career, invested in mentorship, and bet on herself. Today, she's living inside that dream.Listen in to hear her story, the mindset shifts she had to make to be bold enough to make this change, and the challenges that come along with it.Connect further with Jenna:IG: @jenna.klopfensteinhttps://www.jennaklopfenstein.com/Next Level You PodcastBook your laser coaching session here. 3 stages of transition and my 3 takeaways from 2023
Happy New Year!In this episode, I share some information about the Three Stages of Transitions according to author Bruce Feiler - Long Goodbye, Messy Middle, and New Beginning. I am currently reading his book LIfe is in the Transitions and so much is resonating with me that I wanted to share with you too! Reading this book and, in particular, thinking about each of these stages has helped me to identify where I was last year and where I am now and I share this in this episode too! One thing to note about these stages is that we don't progress through them in a linear fashion. You might, for example, be in the messy middle prior to your long goodbye, and vice versa. Interview with Nurse turned Health Coach for Nurses Ashley O'Connor
In this episode I chat with Ashley O'Connor, Registered Nurse turned Health Coach for Nurses and other caregivers.Ashley shares how she pivoted within nursing to try and find the right fit and how she saw a trememdous need for supporting nurses and helping them care for themselves and changed directions to become a health coach to do just that. We talk about the guilt and grief and identity shifts we each experienced leaving such well-respected, well-understood professions like nursing and education. We also reframed the unique ways in which we are still both caring for others, but in new capacities. We also discuss the intuitive pull that we should listen to when it comes to your career, the internal work we must do when it comes to making a change with confidence. Ashley also walks us through her thinking process when she knew she was ready for something else, but didn't exactly know what that something was, and how her family reacted to the news about her leaving nursing.Connect with Ashley:IG: @ashleyoshowListen to her podcast: The Ashley O ShowWeb site: https://www.ashleyoshow.com/The episode on intuition that Ashley references is Episode #5.
