An old Star Trek episode—the first pilot episode before there was a Captain James T. Kirk!—finds the crew of the Starship Enterprise attempting to rescue the crew that's crashed on a planet, only to discover that the species on the planet wants to find a partner for the lone survivor of the crash, a human female, for their "zoo." Captain Pike and Spock realize the human female is an illusion...she's alive, but the planet's species have assembled her incorrectly! Kinda like how we represent Jesus. What is it about the 30-second elevator spiel that causes me to panic? Besides overthinking it, I worry about that "first impression" thing. But the reality is that, like the spiel I spent time refining, we are also in a state of constant refinement. Every day is a new opportunity, a do-over with more skill, more understanding, more wisdom that we had yesterday.And if we allow the Supreme Silversmith, Jesus (author and perfector of the faith!) to work his work, our refinement will result in an image that looks very much like Him!Refine, refine, refine.
