Welcome to The Odd Mom Pod

Welcome to The Odd Mom Pod, a community of parents who are embracing parenting differently and encouraging others to do the same.I'm Brittany, a registered nurse and international board certified lactation consultant -- and apparently now I'm a podcaster! But above all of that, I'm a parent who is navigating these unprecedented times, just like you. The world is literally falling down around us. But internally, our kids' circles are getting so much wider with the internet, social media, and gaming. We have news outlets, politicians, churches, and older generations that keep preaching these parenting techniques that we know don't work, but now, research also proves for them to be detrimental to long-term mental and physical health. As parents, it leaves us stuck managing those long-term consequences with the loud opinion of society, and also the urge to do better for our kids. So, that's what we're doing here. We're chatting with other parents and professionals who are doing things a little bit differently. Welcome to the pod, a place to grow, learn, and gain support while we become better version of ourselves to be a better version for our kids.📣 Ready for a different kind of conversation? Parenting in today's world is anything but ordinary, and it's time we embrace the differences that make our experiences unique. As we navigate these unprecedented times, we're also raising a generation of kids who are growing up in an ever-evolving world, and that brings a whole new set of challenges. How do we approach discussions about topics that didn't even exist when we were kids? How can we ensure that we're well-informed before our children are influenced by external sources? The struggles are real, and parents are grappling with increasing rates of mental
