One Thing (or One System) at a Time: Ep 40 Tiny Bites of Business Podcast

My ADHD Journey - Episode 39: Tiny Bites of Business podcast

In this episode I am getting personal and talking about my journey with ADHD. It was something that has influenced her business practices and personal life in so many ways and it is key now to how I show up online, who I work with and HOW I solve problem. There was a lot of emotion tied in diagnosis and it was not something my extended family supported. But when we see ourselves caught in a perpetual loop of burnout we need to take steps for ourselves. I also touch on the impact of medication, and the importance of support systems. This episode explores the challenges of managing ADHD in a business context and the significance of understanding your own mental health.Liked this episode? Systems And Profitability - The Link to Master: Ep 38 Tiny Bites of Business Podcast

Profitability is NOT just about selling more! Profitability is about managing your resources (including your time) and using them to make more impact (and cash) in a way that is sustainable. There is a critical relationship between profitability and systems in business. Systems reduce inefficiencies, improve workflows, reduce mental load, allow for delegation and better decision making, and ultimately enhance profitability. This episode is created both for the business owner who is absolutely at their MAX and unable to take on more to make more money - as well as for the business owner who is busy doing 'all the things' trying to get clients and knows that there is no way that it will be sustainable once traction gets a hold. For more support get in touch here https://www.knockonwoodvirtualassistance.com.au/contact/ or come follow me on social media here https://www.instagram.com/knockonwoodvirtualassistance/

What to Do When You Are Too Close To See the Way Forward in Your Business: Ep 37 Tiny Bites of Business Podcast

In this episode we reflect on the challenges of being too close to a project and the resistance to change that can arise. You pour your heart and soul into your business. It lives and breathes as a result of your inspiration. But sometimes this can mean being too close to be able to see the gaps. Think of the way an author uses an editor to be that external party who is more able to see what is there exactly as it is. Those external perspectives make all the difference to be able to problem solve and improve our systems, our offers and our business. Do audits. Ask questions. Seek community feedback. And get the support of mentors or consultants who have the experience to be able to see the big picture. Sometimes you are simply too close.

When it comes to a generic link to send people through from your social media accounts tools like LinkTree are popular because it makes it easy to connect a whole bunch of things from a list of buttons. But is this the best way to serve your clients? If they only link they ever click from your Instagram account is a random list of buttons has it been a good use of that connection? An alternative is to build your own hub on your website. It could also be a list of buttons, perhaps with more information below this block. Auditing your Calendar and Booking Systems: Ep 16 Tiny Bites of Business Podcast

The next system to look at is your calendar and booking system! If you have any capacity where you work with people in person or via calls then this one is essential. One of my very first clients had a strong, steady business. But she lost so much time manually checking her calendar, booking people in, sending Zoom links and emailing forms. Setting up a booking system AND hooking in a form saved her HOURS every single week. But... if you have a wobbly calendar system you still have risk of double booking things, overfilling your day or not having enough time for the session needs. So let's talk about it! -Check your home life and business calendars are set up and populated with the blocks for when you are NOT available-Check if your booking system is synced to the right calendars! -Check if your booking system has the right appointment types with the right space before and after sessions-Check if reminders are working -Check if you have the right information before a sessionNow you have a basic audit you can spot the gaps and build a stronger system! Need a hand? Book a 1:1 hour with me and we can go through your calendar together ;) This is the perfect task to tackle chaos and make your weeks feel more cohesive. Get in touch here www.knockonwoodvirtualassistance.com.au/contact

Tiny Bites of Business: Episode 15: Auditing Your Email Direct Marketing System

Welcome to another episode! In this episode we are getting into tech again with a basic overview of how to audit an email marketing program. I suggest starting by documenting the program being used, it'[s cost, and whether or not it is enjoyable to use. Then start noting stats and how it compares to benchmarks. This is a good guideline on where you might be able to tweak some things. Don't forget to review automations, forms, and bounce rates to identify areas for improvement. Takeaways When auditing an email marketing program, document the program being used, its cost, and whether or not it is enjoyable to use. Evaluate the number of people on the email list, email frequency, and the presence of different lists, groups, segments, and tags. Refer to industry benchmarks for open rates, click rates, and unsubscribe rates to assess performance. Analyse automations, forms, and bounce rates to identify areas for improvement. Ensure emails are not going to junk folders by following anti-spam rules and authentication guidelines.

Tiny Bites of Business: Episode 14: Chenae Carey and Entrepreneurial Freedom

Our second guest episode and this time we have Chenae Carey with us to discuss the concept of entrepreneurial freedom and how it can be achieved. She explains how so many business owners have falling into a routine of running a business that actually leaves them feeling trapped. It is not at all what they imagined they would create when they set about to run a business. On the flip side, we discuss that entrepreneurial freedom is about creating a work-life balance that aligns with our desires and values. Chenae emphasizes the importance of awareness and reflection to determine if our business has become a prison rather than a vehicle for freedom. She suggests identifying the areas where we feel trapped and taking small steps to make changes. Chenae also mentions her book, 'Is Your Business a Prison?', which provides an inquiry process and keys to unlock different prisons and find the pathway to freedom.   Takeaways Entrepreneurial freedom is about creating a work-life balance that aligns with our desires and values. Tiny Bites of Business: Episode 12: Count Your Expenses Before Settling on a 'Magic' Hourly Rate

In this episode, I want to share a few things about money that have been catching my attention lately. The first is how often businesses use their revenue to wave a flag about how amazing their business is. But revenue is not the same as profit or what they paid themselves. We need to be careful not to get caught up in comparisons about how much better someone is doing when that revenue figure gets waved around. The second is a bit of a reality check on how all these magic rate calculators really don't take enough information into account and spit out a number that is not relevant. In this episode, we will talk about some of the different figures and why understanding your expenses is key to pricing yourself.

Tiny Bites of Business Podcast: Episode 8: Working In Flow - Using Period Coaching In Business

One of the most essential parts of managing my energy and avoiding burnout while supporting my amazing clients is understanding that I am not built to do the exact same thing every single day. There is a reason why content is sometimes easier to create or why tech sometimes makes you want to cry (even though you totally did the task before). And there is a reason why sometimes you want to throw the laptop out the window and burn your business to the ground. The good news is that we can learn to spot these strengths and understand how we can build practices in that let us max out productivity when we can and what tasks we should absolutely avoid when we are on the other side of that swing. Listen to this episode to find out more about working in flow and how this integrates with my business as a Period Coach who works with my clients in a Business Management and Marketing Capacity.

If you have listened to the million and one pieces of content on HOW to be productive and grow in business and found yourself going "but... how... I don't even have the energy to cook dinner much less do the XYZ shiney thing" this episode is for you! If you are a fellow spoonie (aka someone with a chronic health condition) then the reality is that you are working with a smaller capacity than some of the people you are watching in the business world. The same may be true if you are a full-time carer or have something else that consumes large chunks of your time beyond what others may be managing. So how do we go forward? Let's talk about some tools to help you make the most of your limited but very valuable time. In addition to the tools that I mentioned in this episode, I also use timers, heat packs, whiteboards, Google Calendar, and my project management tool to keep me on track with the portion of time I have to do work. Let me know if you will be tweaking how you manage your time this year to better reflect your own capacity.

Tiny Bites of Business Podcast: Episode 6: Where to Start with Automation

Ready to set up some new systems in your business and not entirely sure where to start? Let's talk about it! My starting point is looking for the places where you repeat the same task the most or use the most time repeating the same task in your business. 9 times out of 10 this will be in the enquiry and onboarding process and this is where we make the single biggest impact in claiming back hours for you. But it can be a little bit complex. So why start here? And what can be done to make this step easier?

Tiny Bites of Business: Episode 5: Finding Extra Money Within Your Subscriptions

I obviously geek out a bit over business tech and systems. I love investing in tools that serve me well. BUT this is a really big area to look for money leaking out in your business too.Stats show Aussies spend about $1200-1300 per year per person on UNUSED subscriptions. And honestly, I suspect the cost is higher for women in business as we tend to look externally for solutions and grab one more thing hoping it will be the magic we were looking for.Can I encourage you to check over your software? Go check the tools you use to see what new features might have been added where it might now replace other things (like ClickUp's inbuilt recording tool instead of Loom). And look over your subscriptions to see if you are actually using everything you pay for (and if it adds value in exchange for it’s cost). So check it all over. Spot the subscriptions you aren’t using or places you could tweak so you can reroute money into the tools you DO use or put money back in your pocket! I mention a few tools in this episode but here are a few more for you -Rounded (mention my name to get a free month of this fab accounting software) -TidyCal-Indy-Trello-AffinityCheck over your subscription both inside and out of your business. Make sure everything is being used and is adding value. If not maybe consider putting that money onto tools you are going to get the most out of (Big fan of paid ClickUp here) or put that back into cashflow or your pocket!

Tiny Bites Of Business: Episode 4: Word Of the Year

Have you set an intention for your year? A word of the year can be a fun way to create a simple guiding marker to check in if we are acting in alignment with our goals, values and intentions. Let's talk about why this may or may not be a better fit for you than resolutions.

Tiny Bites of Business Podcast: Episode 3: Who to Outsource to

Let's wrap up this chat about outsourcing by putting it together. Now it is time to understand WHO you need. If you have listened to the last episodes then you should have a list of ideas you want help with, and you should understand what sort of skillset you are looking for.Now it is time to look at your values! Why? I firmly believe that you will get the best experience when you bring someone you can trust to back your brand values. This is key to you being able to let go of tasks and trust your team with them. Next, look at your budget. It is a-ok if you only have a budget for a little one-off help right now. And it is ok if you are ready to bring on someone with a meaty budget and a bit list too. But understand the level of help you need. Lastly, look at HOW you are going to onboard them. Do you know how to communicate what you need to be done? Do you know how to give them the information they need? I have a free worksheet here to help you as you work through the outsourcing process https://www.knockonwoodvirtualassistance.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Podcast-Resources-Who-To-Pick.pdf   Need more help? Tiny Bites Of Business: Episode 2: What IS a VA Anyway?

Continuing on the topic of Outsourcing a bit more and today looking at what a Virtual Assistant actually IS?While this might seem unimportant it is actually essential. Just like 'tradies' covers a whole range of skills from builders to electricians to mechanics and everything in between the term 'virtual assistant' is also a broad term covering a whole bunch of skill sets!Let's break it down a little. Go back to the last episode on what you need help with if you are still not sure what type of help you need. Got questions? Let me know!

Tiny Bites of Business Podcast: Episode 1: Why Outsource?

Our first topic on the Tiny Bites of Business Podcast is Outsourcing! I have a process for this topic and I am going to take you through this one piece at a time. Starting with "Why Outsource" Outsourcing is a big topic and people often treat it quite simply. "Just get help" they say. But outsourcing won't necessarily make things better for you if you dont get the right help, on the right things and from the right person. As a business owner you need to step into CEO mode first and clarify a few things before you are ready to speak to potential VAs about supporting you. Lets start with WHY you want to outsource and what the purpose is.I have a handy worksheet for you here as you work through this topic. Grab it for free and get ready to take some notes. Download now: https://www.knockonwoodvirtualassistance.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Podcast-Resources-Why-outsource.pdf
