Frank About Health - The Barriers Still Holding Back Nurse Practitioners
In the conclusion of this 2 part review of the Nurse Practitioner profession and the ongoing call to action for State Level Support, we provide the clarity of how important Nurse Practitioners are in the Health Profession regardless of the outcome of how the profession is supported, funded and advocated. Despite decades of growth and proven patient outcomes, practice authority still depends on geography. Why do some states grant full autonomy while others require physician oversight? How do administrative barriers, workforce shortages, and rural healthcare gaps affect access to care? This episode offers a balanced, insightful look at the policy, workforce, and patient-access realities shaping the future of healthcare in America and what it means for you. Frank About Health - Nurse Practitioners Need a Seat at the Table
In this episode of Frank About Health, Frank R. Harrison is joined by nurse practitioner leader and entrepreneur Lynn Rapsilber, alongside healthcare strategist and coach Phyllis Quinlan, for a timely conversation about why one of the most essential healthcare workers in America is still struggling to practice, lead, and thrive. While nurse practitioners are trusted providers on the front lines of chronic disease management and community care, the discussion reveals how regulatory barriers, lack of business training, and outdated reimbursement models continue to limit their impact and restrict patient access in the process. Together, Frank, Lynn, and Phyllis unpack the real-world consequences of scope-of-practice restrictions, rising educational debt, and monopolized control over coding and reimbursement by institutions such as the American Medical Association. Phyllis brings a broader systems and leadership lens to the conversation, helping frame these challenges within a larger transformation of healthcare delivery and previewing an upcoming Frank About Health mini-series focused on the Nurse Practitioner Experience. The episode moves beyond critique to spotlight collaboration, collective advocacy, and practical pathways for elevating nurse practitioner voices—making it essential listening for clinicians, healthcare leaders, policymakers, and anyone invested in building a more sustainable, patient-centered healthcare system. Frank About Health - Introducing Health-E-Media
In this episode of Frank About Health, the conversation goes beyond individual projects to explore a larger question: how do we build trust, visibility, and momentum for health advocacy in a time of disruption, misinformation, and burnout? Frank and Anshar unpack the creation of Health E Media as a response to a fractured health media landscape where meaningful voices often struggle to be heard. Together, they explore how storytelling, credibility, and lived experience can be curated into a media ecosystem that amplifies real impact rather than noise. Listeners will hear how books, documentaries, podcasts, live events, and patient-led movements can work together to drive awareness and advocacy—highlighting spring initiatives, cultural moments, and innovation that already resonate with real audiences. The episode offers insight into why media trust matters as much as innovation itself, and how thoughtful platforms can support emerging ideas, patient empowerment, and systemic change without rushing to sell solutions. This is a thoughtful, forward-looking conversation for anyone interested in health advocacy, media with purpose, and what it takes to move important conversations from the margins into the mainstream. This episode is ideal for anyone interested in health advocacy, patient empowerment, media with purpose, and how thoughtful storytelling can shape the future of healthcare. Frank About Health - Invisible Illnesses
This episode of Frank About Health shines a light on invisible conditions—the illnesses and lived experiences that often go unseen, misunderstood, or minimized. Drawing inspiration from Invisible by Matthew Michael Ross, conversations from the Invisible Conditions Podcast with Jeff Pearson, and personal reflections on epilepsy and other non-visible health challenges, this episode explores how hidden conditions affect identity, resilience, access to care, and social perception. Rather than focusing solely on diagnoses, the discussion centers on dignity, validation, and the urgent need to listen to those whose struggles don’t show up on the surface—reminding us that what we can’t see often carries the greatest weight. Invisible conditions are illnesses or disabilities that aren’t immediately apparent to others but can significantly affect daily life, work, relationships, and mental health. Because symptoms aren’t visible, people often face misunderstanding, stigma, or disbelief.

Frank About Health - Healthcare in 2026: What Comes Next?
In this special episode of Frank About Health, we take a clear-eyed look at the forces that reshaped healthcare over the past year—from system-wide disruption and clinician burnout to the rapid rise of AI and the growing influence of voices willing to speak uncomfortable truths. Drawing on insights from leaders, clinicians, advocates, and storytellers including Marschall Runge, Phyllis Quinlan, Dale Atkins, Todd Otten, and Tom Ingegno, this episode goes beyond headlines to examine what actually changed—and why it matters. We explore how AI moved from promise to pressure, how leadership and caregiving were tested under strain, and how media and advocacy became critical tools for accountability and healing. Most importantly, we identify the early signals emerging from 2025 that will shape healthcare decisions in 2026—around trust, ethics, regulation, and the human cost of innovation. This isn’t about predicting the future. It’s about recognizing the patterns already in motion—and understanding what patients, professionals, and communities need to be prepared for next. Understanding what happened in 2025 by discussing highlights of shows that we did and how they are creating trends and solutions that will be explored in 2026.

Frank About Health - Out of Patients with Matthew Zachary
In this powerful episode of Frank About Health, I sit down with cancer survivor, patient-advocate, and healthcare disruptor Matthew Zachary for a raw, urgent conversation about what happens when the healthcare system runs out of compassion—and patients are left to fend for themselves. This is not a feel-good survivor story. It’s a truth-telling reckoning. Together, we explore what it means to be “out of patients” in a system that treats people like data points—and why the next phase of healthcare must be driven by lived experience, not bureaucracy. If you’ve ever asked, “Why does surviving feel harder than the illness itself?” This episode is for you. An unfiltered look at MZ's journey with Brain Cancer— from diagnosis to survivorship — and why so many patients feel abandoned after treatment ends. A reframing of hope — not as toxic positivity, but as agency, voice, and systemic accountability. Learn about his podcast "Out of Patients" and his other Advocacy work. Frank About Health - Disruption and Reflection
It is the anniversary of 9/11 and while I won't pay direct tribute to the events of that day I will show in a solo episode the self-advocacy that we need to be aware of going forward with our health. This particular episode reflects on the chaos that is going on in our healthcare system 24 years after the worst terrorist attack in our nations history. I was fortunate to appear in the audience of The View on Monday and the discussions that happened both on air and behind the scenes were a reflection of how we need to begin this new season with our focus on our own healthcare with vigilance. The events of 24 years ago brought the country together and looking at where we are today there is a chasm on our own self awareness and I intend to inform the truth, resourced information that people must be aware of when it comes to Vaccines, Legislation occuring in 2026, Reminder of Healthcare Disruption and ways to manage and diffuse misinformation. www.frankrharrison.com #Disruption, #MRNA, #mentalhealth

Frank About Health - Healthy Aging Through Creativity and Reinvention
Healthy Aging is living an engaged productive life motivated by will and not by the biological changes that occur as we get older. Learn how to remain engaged, independent and productive as each year progresses. A lawyer and former diplomat, Otho Eskin served in the U.S. Army and in the United States Foreign Service. He was Vice-Chairman of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea, participated in the negotiations on the International Space Station, was principal U.S. negotiator of several international agreements on seabed mining and was the U.S. representative to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. Eskin is active in the Washington theater scene and is a playwright whose work has appeared in New York, Washington D.C., and Europe. We will explore how his thriving post-diplomatic career underscores the mental, emotional, and social dimensions of healthy aging: Purposeful engagement—writing novels, producing plays—keeps brain function, memory, and creativity sharp. Social connectivity—through theater, literary communities, interviews—supports emotional well-being. Reinvention—embracing new roles later in life models adaptability and resilience.
