Jessie Thomas (Farm Girl Fitness)
Owner, Jessie Thomas, lost her job as an instructor and coach after 13 years in the fitness industry in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She not only needed to find work but saw a need in her community to keep people moving, connected and safe. So in June 2020 she converted her family’s 88 acre farm into a playground for outdoor fitness. Sharelle Samuel is a student-athlete graduate from UCLA and Harvard, with a concentration in Economics and a secondary in Psychology. Her interests lie in business, marketing, international relations, coordinating events, consulting, legal work and consumer/client relations. Keira Christie-Galloway started running track at age 14 in 2014. She had outgrown gymnastics and her coach suggested track and field. Within two weeks she won long jump silver at a provincial meet. She started sailing at the age of 7 in Barbados and competed at her first world championship at age 10 in the optimist class. Keira Christie-Galloway is a record-breaking hurdler who holds the Canadian U20 and U18 records in the 100m hurdles. She won a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile in 2023. In June 2018, she shattered a 36-year-old national U20 record and followed it up with a personal best of 13.10 seconds in May 2019, winning the Big-12 Conference Championship as a freshman for Iowa State University. Nathan Clement- Paralympian, Paracycling
Nathan was initially a Para swimmer and competed at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. He retired from the sport in 2018. In 2020 he did a 1,000 km trek on his bike through B.C., and it ignited his competitive passions again. Dr. Martin Gibala- Kinesiology Professor, McMaster University
Martin Gibala is a professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and currently serves as chair of the Department of Kinesiology. Dr. Gibala is an integrative physiologist who studies the mechanistic basis of exercise responses in humans, and associated health impacts. His pioneering research on the topic of interval training has helped to establish the efficacy of brief, intense exercise to enhance physical fitness in both healthy individuals and people with chronic diseases. A 2017 profile in The New York Times concluded, “Martin Gibala is the scientist we most have to thank for the popularity of very brief, very hard exercise.” Dr. Gibala has authored more than 125 publications in scientific journals, several of which rank in the top 1% of their academic field based on total citations. Ted Temertzoglou- Physical Education Expert
Ted is the President and Founder of LifeIsAthletic, an advocate and thought leader for meaningful Health and Physical Education as a gateway to proactive medicine. He is a former Ontario Board representative for Physical and Health Education (PHE) Canada advocating and promoting the importance of quality daily health and physical education programs in schools across Canada. He is a certified personal trainer with The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologist (CSEP). Ted was the recipient of the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association’s Outstanding Contribution Award in 2008. He completed his MA in Physical and Health Education with a research focus in student success and teacher-student rapport.
