What is 'supervision' and how does it support you? Part 2
In this episode, Gilly continues her conversation with osteopath and professional supervisor Ruth Wharton, diving deeper into the value of supervision in supporting osteopaths’ wellbeing and professional growth.Ruth explains that supervision offers a confidential, reflective space for practitioners to explore emotional and professional challenges — distinct from mentoring, which focuses more on business or career progression. It’s a space to pause, process, and gain perspective.Together, Gilly and Ruth discuss how supervision can help osteopaths navigate burnout, boundary difficulties, and emotional overload; issues that can be especially acute for clinic principals managing teams. The discussion touches on the intersection of neurodivergence and osteopathic practice, highlighting how traits like heightened empathy can be both an asset and a challenge — and how supervision provides a space to work through that complexity.🕒 [01:20] – Ruth’s journey to becoming an osteopath🕒 [11:22] – Who does supervision benefit?🕒 [38:00] – Typical issues that are seen in supervisionVALUABLE RESOURCESAre You Ready To Maximise Your Clinic's Potential And Achieve A Higher Annual Turnover? The No 1 clinic problem I solve
In this podcast, Gilly discusses the common struggles clinic owners face when trying to attract new patients. She highlights the costly mistakes many make, such as investing heavily in Google Ads or services like Yell, which often yield poor results. Gilly critiques these expensive options and explains why they don't work, like competing with local clinics or underpricing services. By engaging with potential patients online and offering value, clinic owners can generate organic referrals, reduce unnecessary expenses, and create a steady stream of new patients. Gilly emphasizes the benefits of taking a creative, non-pushy approach to marketing and transforming one's clinic with thoughtful, long-term strategies. The Hidden Fix (0:12)"It's the biggest and most common problem I solve. Oops - I've made myself homeless!

She describes how, at the age of 21, she left her quiet hometown for London and later moved with her family to Athens for over six years, taking on challenges along the way. After selling her house and dealing with lengthy delays, she took the bold step of moving into temporary accommodation in an Airbnb while her purchase was nearly finalised. Gilly sees this as another calculated risk, trusting that everything will eventually fall into place. She ties this risk-taking back to her ability to spot opportunities and think creatively in business, offering clients unique solutions and visions for their futures. Gilly ends by asking the audience about the craziest calculated risks they’ve taken, showing curiosity about others' experiences.(0:03 - 1:09) The Risk of Homelessness: A Leap into the UnknownOh, I've made myself homeless.
