Soft Power Project
by Sherry Fang
The Soft Power Project is a podcast about the courage it takes to become who you’re meant to be. Through intimate conversations and personal stories, host Sherry Fang journals the journeys of women navigating reinvention, uncertainty, and growth. This podcast explores the messy middle — the quiet seasons, the pivots, and the moments that don’t always make it onto highlight reels. The intention is simple: to remove the shame around starting over and remind women that transformation is rarely linear. Through shared stories and practical insights, The Soft Power Project encourages women to trust themselves, embrace change, and move toward the next version of their lives with softness and strength. For any questions, please find me at [email protected] If you like to share your story on Soft Power Project, please fill out this from and I will get back to you as soon as possible. --> https://forms.gle/wE4it5KSXfu815dw9 <br

The Burnout We Don't Talk About
There's a kind of burnout I don't think we talk about enough, and it has almost nothing to do with working too hard. Last week I posted a reel about the achievers and the cruisers, and so many of you wrote back saying that's me. What stayed with me wasn't the pattern, it was the burnout underneath it. Achievers don't break from long hours. They love the work. They break when their effort stops being valued, when the hard work becomes expected instead of appreciated, when the smartest people in the room go quiet because they've learned nothing changes. It's a kind of learned helplessness. It's why a lot of the women I've interviewed left their jobs without a Plan B, and why none of them recommend doing it that way. I'm not sharing this as someone who has the answer. I'm still sitting with it. If you've ever felt your effort quietly stop mattering, this is your invitation to name it, even if just to yourself. What kind of burnout have you been carrying? TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 - The reel that hit a nerve 0:55 - The burnout we don't talk about 1:35 - When you love the work 2:25 - When your effort stops being valued 3:30 - Why intelligent people go quiet 4:20 - Leaving without a Plan B CONNECT WITH ME: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/soft_power_project/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@SoftPowerProject Email: [email protected] LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sherryfang83/ #SoftPowerProject #SoftPower #WomenEmpowerment #PersonalGrowth #WomenPodcast #Burnout #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #WomenInBusiness #CareerAdvice Leave a comment and share your thoughts: https://open.firstory.me/user/cm5etbvm00a1i01sl6k6h99de/comments Youtube Instagram Would you like to share your life stories? Breaking Free from Toxic Ecosystems: The Role of Enablers
In this episode of Soft Power Project, we explore the role of enablers in narcissistic and deeply codependent relationships: the friends, family members, and communities that minimize harm, distort reality, and make survivors question themselves. We unpack why enablers protect toxic systems, the psychology behind their behavior, and why survivors often have to walk away from an entire ecosystem, not just one relationship. This is a conversation about reality, self-trust, and what it takes to reclaim your voice when everyone else keeps explaining your pain away. The Superpower Life Experience Actually Gives You
Have you ever had a yearning you kept trying to talk yourself out of? I spent months doing exactly that — applying for jobs, calling headhunters, convincing myself I could still build the thing on weekends. I got nothing back. And I am so grateful. This solo episode is about conviction. Not the Instagram version. The kind that shows up when you're embarrassed, scared, and out of backup plans. I share the ancient Chinese military principle 破釜沉舟 (pò fǔ chén zhōu) - burn the pots, sink the boats - and what it unlocked for me about the six months I spent failing to get another corporate job while quietly knowing I wanted to build this. If you've ever had something you wanted to build and kept waiting for a safer moment, this one is for you. Finding Yourself After a Lifetime of Adapting with Djennie Falle-Djedje
Djennie Falle was three years old the first time she left Paris to live with a Dutch family she barely knew. She adapted. She always adapted. Different language, different rules, different mother. By the time she was 24, she'd gotten so good at fitting in that she couldn't find herself underneath it all. In this episode of The Soft Power Project, Sherry talks with Djennie about the quiet cost of being the person who adjusts. What it felt like to constantly say goodbye to friends on both sides of a border. The breakup that finally exposed how little of her life she'd actually chosen. And the 10-year journey that followed, through leaving religion, sitting with a therapist who told her to do nothing for five minutes, and discovering that dance could release what her body had been holding for years. Djennie's definition of belonging has nothing to do with place. It starts with feeling at home in your own body. If you've ever wondered whether your ability to adapt is a gift or a shield, this one's for you. Better Communication Skills Cannot Solve Everything
As a communication trainer for close to 10 years, I'd like to think that we can smooth out all issues with better communication skills. However, most of the problems we see today cannot be solve with communication skills simply because they are ego problems. In 2026, knowing how to holding our peace and setting boundaries become the most important soft skills in the workplace. The Internalized Male Gaze: The Voice I Didn’t Know Wasn’t Mine
In this deeply personal solo episode, I explore the concept of the internalized male gaze not as something external, but as a voice I’ve carried within myself. I reflect on how growing up in a patriarchal system shaped my subconscious beliefs about worth, relationships, and identity. From marrying on a timeline driven by perceived value, to the long emotional journey of processing my divorce, to experiencing rivalry and insecurity in female workplace dynamics, I began to see that these patterns weren’t random, but conditioned. I’m not sharing this as someone who has it all figured out, but as someone still in the process of unlearning. This episode is about becoming aware of the beliefs I inherited, questioning them, and slowly rebuilding a sense of self that feels true to me. If anything, this is an invitation to notice the invisible narratives you might be carrying, and to ask whether they’re really yours.
