#11 ft. simón sosa: "this could never happen to us" - lessons from venezuela

here in the west, we somehow think we're immune to dictatorships. but when Simón Sosa (@simon.sosab) shares his experience from venezuela, from his childhood to when hugo chávez and later nicolás maduro rose to power, we realize - nobody is safe. this can happen to us, too. and it will, if we don't pay attention. this episode covers his personal experience and offers a timely reflection on instability, warning signs, and what global decline can look like in real time.if you want to support the people in venezuela, i invite you to donate to caritas venezuela. follow simon on instagram. and reach out to him if you have any questions!support unbound the pod: follow https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447intro & outro music by krakautime stamps: 00:00 intro and welcome00:44 growing up in venezuela02:16 the rise of hugo chávez and what it changed06:05 how to ruin a country 10107:25 the rise of the military09:01 when you leader ruins your retirement12:46 nicolás maduro grabs the reigns15:46 reacting to trump invading venezuela19:07 the reality of living under a dictatorship20:54 some rules have to be broken22:44 what the west can learn from venezuela25:23 the importance of education29:09 what does it mean to be human?

#10: feminism is not about women, it's about truth

what if we've been reading history with half the pages torn out?that's the question riane eisler asks in the chalice and the blade — and once you see it, you can't unsee it. if half the population has been systematically excluded from how we study, interpret, and understand the past, we don't just have a bias problem. we have a truth problem.in this episode, we get into her cultural transformation theory, what prehistoric art and venus figurines actually tell us about early human society, and why the assumption that "humans have always been violent" might be one of the biggest lies we've ever been told.spoiler: goddess-worshipping, partnership-model societies existed. and they were peaceful.this one will mess with your worldview in the best way.want to learn more? i'm working on a substack article so make sure you subscribe. resources:- The Chalice and the Blade - Riane Eisler- which we are currently reading in sarah's (@bysarahnoack) matriarchal study clubfollow un|bound: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and kiki https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ intro & outro music by krakauthank you for being here <3

#9 ft. clara tomé: how we can actually solve the climate crisis

what if the biggest lie in climate history was sold to you by an oil company?clara tomé (@iamcleer) went from international modeling to climate justice — and in this episode, she's pulling back the curtain on everything the fossil fuel industry doesn't want you to know.a practicing environmental lawyer and EU climate pact ambassador, Clara traces her own awakening and shares what we can all do. but this isn't your typical "go vegan, save the planet" conversation. clara goes deeper — unpacking why the climate crisis is fundamentally a crisis of justice, one rooted in centuries of colonialism and late-stage capitalism. we also get into the stuff that rarely makes it into mainstream climate discourse: why "pristine" conservation can actually harm the communities who've protected those ecosystems for generations, why indigenous knowledge deserves the same seat at the table as peer-reviewed science, and what it really means to rebuild our relationship with the natural world.support clara's ngo rights & roots and protect indigenous landslearn more follow clara on instagram follow unbound the pod: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447intro & outro music by krakaufor more info:- Less is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World - Jason Hickel- BP made up the carbon footprint- More about Rights of Nature

#8: where did we go wrong? the creation of the patriarchy

do you actually know what the patriarchy is? if not, don't worry!i didn't know either, that's why i read "the creation of the patriarchy" by gerda lerner, to actually get a historical understanding of what turns out the start of the oppression of women worldwide. join me on this episode to walk through some of the major developments in history that not only led to the domination of men over women, but that set a precedent for all domination (think slavery, class struggles, exploitation of nature) that rules - and ruins - us today. want to learn more? i'm working on a substack article so make sure you subscribe. resources:- The Creation of Patriarchy - Gerda Lerner- Feminism for The 99% - Cinzia Arruzza, Nancy Fraser, and Tithi Bhattacharya- The Will to Change - bell hooksfollow un|bound: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and kiki https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447intro & outro music by krakauthank you for being here <3

#7 ft. sarah noack: from single motherhood to matriarchy

kiki sits down with sarah (@bysarahnoack) to explore single motherhood, matriarchy, and the invisible labor that holds society together. they talk about how patriarchy depends on women’s unpaid care work, and why western systems often fail mothers while other cultures still center the “village.”sarah shares what she’s learned traveling the world with her daughter and documenting mothers’ stories globally — and why supporting single mothers isn’t just personal, but political.support sarah's docu series: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-me-tell-the-stories-the-world-forgotfollow sarah on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bysarahnoack/and substack: https://bysarahnoack.substack.com/follow un|bound: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447intro & outro music by krakau

#6: what do we mean when we speak about "the system"?

we always speak about "the system" - it is inherently violent, and we want to burn it down. but what even is it? using systems theory as a basis, specifically Ludwig von Bertalanffy and Donella Meadows, i break down the system into five different subsystems: economic, political, social, racial, and cultural. using the cocoa supply chain from farms in west africa to our supermarkets, i shine a light on how low farm-gate prices, trade structures shaped by colonial extraction, unpaid household labor, global racial hierarchy, and comforting consumer narratives about chocolate work together to stabilize inequality and wealth accumulation, while shifting responsibility to individual “ethical” choices instead of structural change.

#4: why I started unlearning the systems I was raised in

in this episode, I share my personal and political journey that led to the creation of unbound. I reflect on how studying decolonization reshaped my worldview, how colonialism, capitalism, and patriarchy live in our bodies, and why institutions alone can’t create real change. this episode explores unlearning, burnout, collective liberation, spirituality, and the power of grassroots transformation — an invitation to question the system and imagine alternatives together.if you enjoy this podcast, please subscribe and leave a rating. follow un|bound: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.pod/ and https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447intro & outro music by krakau

#1: breaking what breaks us and remembering what binds us

welcome to un|bound, a podcast about breaking what breaks us and remembering what binds us. in this first solo episode of un|bound, I share why I started this podcast and why so many of today’s global crises are, at their core, deeply human ones. I reflect on systemic injustice, shared responsibility, and why transformation is less about becoming someone new and more about remembering who we already are. un|bound is a space for unlearning, listening, and reconnecting — with ourselves, each other, and our shared humanity.follow un|bound: https://www.instagram.com/unbound.thepod/ and https://www.instagram.com/kikilindenau/ and upscrolled https://share.upscrolled.com/en/user/c8a1197d-8a24-4f2d-8ef4-85aca25fa447
