Why I am Drawn To Gentle Herbs

In today's episode, I'm diving into one of my favorite topics in herbalism: gentle herbs, the soft, soothing, deeply nourishing plants that quietly do the heavy lifting in a sensitive or overwhelmed body. This episode is for anyone who feels burned out, overstimulated, inflamed, or tired of wellness trends that push, force, or overstimulate the body. If you've ever wondered why you feel better with softer plants rather than the intense ones… this is the episode for you. In this episode, I share: The difference between strong and gentle herbs.  When we should use strong herbs and when we should use gentle herbs.  Why I prefer nourishment over stimulation How gentle herbalism transformed my own healing How gentle herbs build a foundation of safety in the body 10 gentle herbs and all the wonderful and important things they do.  Listen to the Bonus Podcast Episodes!  The Emotional Archetypes of Gentle Herbs + A PDF that goes with it.   Want to learn more about herbalism and listen to bonus podcast episodes?  Join our Herb of the Month Membership! How I Regulated My Nervous System

In this episode, I am sharing something deeply personal and incredibly important, how I regulated my nervous system and transformed my physical, emotional, and mental health. For years, I struggled with symptoms that didn't seem connected, until I learned that nearly all of them were rooted in a dysregulated nervous system. This episode is a blend of lived experience, holistic nutrition, and mindset work, and it worked for me, and maybe it can work for you, too.  In this episode, I talk about:  Briefly, how my nervous system became dysregulated.  Physical, mental, and behavioral symptoms that a dysregulated nervous system can cause.  Side effects from healing a dysregulated nervous system. Why nutrition matters, and how to change your nutrition without causing more stress.  How to rewire your brain and other mindset tips.   Listen to the Bonus Podcast Episodes!  My Simple Daily Nervous System Routine Want to learn more about herbalism and listen to bonus podcast episodes?  Join our Herb of the Month Membership! 7 Herbal Misconceptions

There's so much information (and misinformation) floating around about herbalism that it can be hard to know where to begin. In this episode, I'm debunking and sharing some of the most common herbal misconceptions I've seen over the years, and what I wish more people knew when they first started getting into herbalism.  Whether you're new to herbalism or a seasoned herbalist, this episode is your reminder that herbalism doesn't have to be complicated, competitive, or overwhelming. It's about connection, not perfection. In this episode, I debunk these misconceptions: You Have to Know Everything to Be an Herbalist There's Only One "Right" Way to Practice Herbalism You Have to Compete with Other Herbalists The "Perfect" Formula or Herb Exists  Herbalism Is Only About Physical Healing Since herbs are natural, they are all safe.   Herbs and Western medicine don't go together.  By the end of this episode, you'll feel encouraged to slow down, trust your intuition, and build a more personal relationship with the plants you love. Wellness Terminology You Should (and Shouldn't) Use

In the wellness industry, there are certain words and phrases we're not supposed to use, but there are also so many wonderful ways we can share our message. I've noticed a lot of fellow wellness content creators saying their posts keep getting taken down. While I can't say for sure, my guess is it often comes down to the language we're using. In this episode, I share which words and phrases to avoid, why they might be flagged, and what to say instead.  So you can keep spreading your message safely, authentically, and with confidence. The Importance Of Finding The Root Causes

Have you ever felt like you're chasing symptoms without really getting better? In this episode, I dive into the importance of uncovering the root causes of your health struggles, rather than getting stuck treating surface-level issues. These pillars provide a clear framework for understanding why you may feel stuck with your health.  By the end of this episode, you'll have a fresh perspective on how to approach your wellness journey with more clarity, confidence, and compassion for yourself. Whether you're brand new to holistic health or you've been working on your healing for years, this conversation will give you insights you can apply right away. What you'll learn in this episode: Why looking for root causes creates real, lasting healing The 6 common pillars behind most health struggles   In this episode I talk about: Vitamin and mineral deficiency test.  This is the one I use.  It's geared for testing food intolerances, but it tests deficiencies, among other things.   I talked about electrolytes. If you live in Fire Country like I do, this herb is very beneficial. I share the benefits of Mullein and how to identify it.  Mullein's Latin name is Verbascum thapsus.  I also mentioned that Plantain was the first herb I learned about in great detail.  What was the first herb you learned about in detail?  Email me and let me know: [email protected] Listen to the Bonus Podcast Episodes! How to Wildcraft/Forage

Have you ever wanted to learn how to forage, but you don't know where to begin?  In this episode, I share the difference between wildcrafting and foraging, six wildcrafting/foraging etiquette tips, and six ways to start learning how to wildcraft and forage.  I joke all the time about how if the Zombie Apocalypse were to happen, it would be very beneficial to have me around because I know what plants are edible, medicinal, and dangerous. However, in all seriousness, what would happen if we all went off-grid?  It may not happen in our lifetime (although the last 5 years has shown us anything can happen), but it may happen in our children's lifetime, or their children's, and it would be great to pass this knowledge down to gernations.   In this episode, I mentioned a few books:  Field Guide To Edible Wild Plants, by Same Thayer's Medicinal Herbs of California, by Lanny Kaufer    California Foraging, by Judith Larner Lowry  These are some of my favorite foraging books, but you can look for foraging books in your area.  Try searching for your state or region (for example, "foraging books for the Southeast" or "foraging books in the Midwest".   These are two websites that I find very beneficial here in California.  If you are not in California,  but with a quick search, you can find websites like this in your state. These websites share about native plants.  Califlora  I find this one a little more beneficial for foraging.  Calscape    Want to learn more about herbs?  Join our Herb of the Month Membership.  Get one month for free with the discount code: WYAP Not only do I share bonus podcast episodes in this membership, but there are a lot of PDF files, videos, a private Facebook group, and every 3 months you are a member, I send you 3 herbs.
