Dýfan hjá KISS var hafin. Síðasta plata þeirra, "Unmasked" gerði ekkert sérstakt mót fyrir KISS (nema þá helst í Ástralíu kannski). Peter Criss var þarna búinn að yfirgefa skútuna og Eric Carr tekið við trommukjuðunum. Planið var að gera eina þunga rokkplötu til að rétta bandið við eftir niðurgang síðustu ára. En Ásnum til mikillar mæðu kemur þá Bob nokkur Ezrin inn í myndina á ný og úr varð concept-platan "Music from The Elder" í anda "The Wall" með Pink Floyd sem Ezrin hafði tekið upp skömmu áður. Það heppnaðist líka svona feyki vel…..eða hvað? "Music from The Elder" kom allavega út í nóvember 1981, það er þó staðreynd. Aðdáendum brá nokkuð í brún þegar hún var sett á fóninn en í dag er hún á háum stalli KISS aðdáenda um heim allan, en þó eru enn skiptar skoðanir meðal þeirra um ágæti plötunnar.
