E121 Misty

from Kratom Sobriety · host Libby, Jacob, and Charlie

A powder user, Misty quit kratom twice. First five years ago cold turkey, with horrible acute withdrawals for a month and then hard protracted withdrawals for half a year. Formerly addicted to heroin, she felt the withdrawals were just as bad if not worse. This second quit in May 2023, she got the SUBLOCADE® shot (buprenorphine injection). This resulted in no withdrawals and allowed her to take care of her four children without taking any time off. Initially taking kratom for a boost in energy starting in 2016ish, Misty's side effects from kratom including severe constipation, extreme weight loss, hair loss, fits of rage, wobbles/pre seizures and a scary choking incident with a clump of powder stuck (and not easily dislodged) in her windpipe. She was consuming a kilo and half at her top usage, which was up to 50 grams a day. Good news, a year and half off kratom - she is back to normal, and her hair went from 75% gone to only 25% missing, and no more losing her cool either! Alive and Free Bob Gardner It's time to rip the cover off what really works to finally ditch stress, anxiety, anger, addiction, depression, past trauma, chronic pain, and all other kinds of human suffering. No, not just relief, recovery, comfort, healing, or sobriety. We're talking the F word here — freedom — Happiness and well-being on autopilot. My team and I will share straight from the trenches what we've learned from using a non-therapy, body-based approach to leave our own struggles behind while also coaching thousands of others to do the same. And since these are often such heavy topics, we're gonna get a bit irreverent and have a good time while we're at it. Because, despite what you may have been told, real freedom never involves a fight. Sober Powered: The Neuroscience of Being Sober Gillian Tietz, MS, CPRC Why do some people stay sober and others relapse back and forth? Getting sober isn’t about restriction, it’s about rewiring your brain to function without intensity, chaos, dopamine spikes, and avoidance. Hosted by Gill Tietz, a former biochemist turned sober coach, this show dives into the neuroscience of long-term sobriety — why some people relapse, why others stay free, and how to build the kind of brain that can handle life without alcohol. Each episode blends science, psychology, and real experience to help you strengthen the four pillars of neuro-resilience: 1. Neural Recovery – healing your brain’s reward and stress systems after alcohol. 2. Emotional Regulation – calming reactivity and learning to feel without escaping. 3. Cognitive Rewiring – changing the thought patterns that pull you backward. 4. Behavioral Integration – designing routine
