E125 Eren

from Kratom Sobriety · host Libby, Jacob, and Charlie

Nolan and Desiree talk about how nice it is not to have to hide your kratom use after you quit. Eren discusses how his kratom addiction progressed over five years until he was able to stop in early December 2023. He "hugged the cactus", and quit with the help of the podcast, online kratom meetings and quitting support groups. How would you describe your life now that you're freedom free? "Oh, that's a good question. It's a complicated question. I'll try to keep it short. I think that it's more honest and I think it's more sincere, and I think that it's sometimes harder, but I think that overall it's easier and better and more fulfilling and more rewarding, and I've had to face uncomfortable truths about myself. My history and reflecting on my past. ...This whole feeling of I don't deserve to be here, I don't belong, whatever...Ridiculous thoughts are things that I press down with substances and now the journey is I can actually work through this. And that's been for me, this journey of, now that I'm off of it, I think it's like a car, like all my trauma was like a car...Like you gotta take the car in to get serviced. And I wasn't servicing the car and so the car was getting fucked up...So that was the process and that's been, but I've had to go through and work through now, but it's also very empowering and healing." No, not just relief, recovery, comfort, healing, or sobriety. We're talking the F word here — freedom — Happiness and well-being on autopilot. My team and I will share straight from the trenches what we've learned from using a non-therapy, body-based approach to leave our own struggles behind while also coaching thousands of others to do the same. And since these are often such heavy topics, we're gonna get a bit irreverent and have a good time while we're at it. Because, despite what you may have been told, real freedom never involves a fight. Sober Powered: The Neuroscience of Being Sober Gillian Tietz, MS, CPRC Why do some people stay sober and others relapse back and forth? Getting sober isn’t about restriction, it’s about rewiring your brain to function without intensity, chaos, dopamine spikes, and avoidance. Hosted by Gill Tietz, a former biochemist turned sober coach, this show dives into the neuroscience of long-term sobriety — why some people relapse, why others stay free, and how to build the kind of brain that can handle life without alcohol. Each episode blends science, psychology, and real experience to help you strengthen the four pillars of neuro-resilience: 1. Neural Recovery – healing your brain’s reward and stress systems after alcohol. 2. Emotional Regulation – calming reactivity and learning to feel without escaping. 3.
