Uncovering a negative thought

from spiritual principles made practical's podcast · host Scott Friedman

For more than 50 years I've had a cough when I've denied negative thoughts.  It first occured when I was a freshman in college.  I coughed so much that I would repeatedly start to pass out from lack of oxygen.  Only as I was falling to the ground and about to completely pass out, would my throat relax and allow me to inhale.  Years later I discovered I could stop the spasmodic cough by acknowledging the otherwise denied negative thoughts. Recently, I've noticed a more frequent recurrance of the cough.  In today's meditation I heard  that the denied thought that was causing me to cough now is "This isn't working for you".  Upon accepting the existence of that thought, I immediatley started having thoughts about why that thought was not true.  It is true that I have unrealized potential.  AND, my commitment to being ever more accepting and in alignment with what is true is effectively moving me forward. Whenever I accept a negative thought that was previously denied, I feel my body let go of tension I wasn't even aware existed.  This is the case with accepting the thought "this isn't working for me".   We create our world with our thoughts.  I offer thought coaching to assist in becoming aware of our thoughts and the power we have to choose to act on them or not.  For a free introductory coaching session to experience the difference this can make in your life, reserve a time at https://calendly.com/scottfriedman40/30min My books are available on Amazon.   You can find links to the books on my website, www.thoughtcoachingbyscott.com
