Freedom Looks Different on Me
Let's be honest, most of us built our dream life in our heads when we were 12. Good job, big house, the husband, the kids, the whole checklist. But what happens when the life you're actually living doesn't match the one you mapped out before your frontal lobe was even fully developed? In this solo episode, Kianti gets real about the personal evolution that entrepreneurship forced her into and how turning 40 became the turning point where she finally stopped bargaining with old dreams and started asking herself what she actually wants now. The answer? Freedom. Not in a vague, feel-good way, but in a I want to move through this world on my own terms kind of way.Kianti also shares what's been keeping her grounded lately — getting back to her morning pages, walking in the summer heat, cleaning up her sleep (shoutout to perimenopause for absolutely robbing her of rest), and the honest admission that we all tend to abandon our best habits the moment things start going well. She wraps up with a challenge for the community: one that involves a piece of paper, two columns, and a real invitation to dream again. No pressure, no deadline. Just you and your own vision. And of course, she's back with pop culture: Love Island is here, summer is here, and Kianti has thoughts about the very concerning return of the shrinking woman trend and why Megan Thee Stallion showing up in a bikini is exactly the content we needed. In This Episode:Why we stop doing the things that make us feel good the moment life smooths outHow Kianti is resetting her sleep, her mornings, and her self-care this summerThe moment at 40 when she stopped chasing someone else's version of successWhat it really means to want freedom — and why financial freedom is part of that conversationA journaling challenge to help you compare who you were at 18 to who you actually want to be todayLove Island is back and the body image conversation we need to have about itConnect with Kianti: 📧 [email protected] 📱 Instagram: @blackgirlsbondingInstagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Doubt Is Not The Enemy
In this episode, Kianti gets real about something she almost didn't share — doubt. Not the kind that shows up once and leaves, but the kind that follows you into the gym, into your business, into every moment you try to level up. She talks about why doubt isn't something to wait out, but something to work with and how learning to let it fuel you instead of stop you is a daily, uncomfortable, worthwhile practice.Kianti also gets accountable in real time, sharing a personal goal she's been putting off because it scares her — and why that fear is exactly the reason she's going to do it anyway. In this episode:Why vulnerability hangovers are real and why Kianti keeps showing up anywayThe difference between thinking your way through doubt and doing your way through itWhy confidence isn't something you find it's something you buildThe Eleanor Roosevelt quote that hits different when you apply it to the small stuffWhat Kianti is scared to try next (and why she's doing it anyway)Kianti asks you:What dream do you want to see come to life? How are you holding yourself back? What are you doing to get out of your own way? What Kianti is reading:Kin by Tayari Jones, a layered, complex read that left her feeling a little changed. From Urgent to Unbothered: A New Mindset for Modern Dating
She's back in the dating pool and she's not stressing about it. In this episode, Kianti sits down with her nearest and dearest, Whitney, for a candid conversation about navigating dating after divorce in 2026. Whitney opens up about her marriage, the moment "the mask came off," and how she rebuilt herself on the other side of one of life's hardest chapters. But this episode isn't just about heartbreak — it's about the glow-up that follows. Whitney brings real, practical wisdom on dating smarter, protecting your peace, and shifting your mindset from urgency to ease.In this episode, we get into:How the pandemic fast-tracked Whitney's relationship timeline and what she learned from itWhy character is the only checklist item that actually mattersThe mindset shift from goal-oriented dater to relaxed, self-assured womanWhitney's dating system: outfits ready, questions prepped, filters in placeHer "canned message" strategy for clearing deal-breakers on Hinge — earlyWhy a flower doesn't chase the bees (and a queen protects her castle)The case for virtual dates before real onesWhy dating in big cities vs. small towns is a false debate — "there's pee everywhere"The value of girlfriend time as an antidote to the loneliness epidemicWhat Whitney is watching, reading & listening to:📺 Running Point on Netflix (Season 2 — she watched it too fast and has no regrets)📺 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills🎵 Kehlani + a nostalgic deep dive into old Apple Music playlists📖 Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan (a re-read she brought on vacation to the Virgin Islands)Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

The Visibility Tax
Black women have been visible for a long time. In culture. In labor. In struggle. In the room. And yet visibility alone has never been enough to guarantee protection, resources, or rest.In this episode, Kianti gets into it. A recent headline sparked a bigger conversation about what it actually costs Black women to choose themselves, and whether that choice is even equally available to all of us. Spoiler: Kianti had feelings. A lot of them. We're talking about the difference between taking up space and having the infrastructure to do it, the impossible standard Black women are held to no matter what they choose, and why being seen has never automatically meant being supported. This one is personal, a little spicy, and very much a kitchen table conversation. In this episode:The headline that started it all — and what it really stirred upVisibility without protection: a pattern as old as usThe double standard that never seems to go awayWhat "choosing yourself" actually requires and who gets to do it freelyA real talk about rest, permission, and the price we pay either wayKianti also shared how much she LOVED Kristen Berry's novel, "We Don't Talk About Carol." Pleasure Is Power: Reclaiming Your Body, Joy, and Yourself with Dr. Nikki
In this deeply affirming and honest conversation, Kianti sits down with Dr. Nikki, licensed psychologist, published scholar, and unapologetic advocate for Black women's well-being, to talk about what it really costs high-achieving Black women to keep showing up for everyone but themselves.Dr. Nikki opens up about her own winding path: from university professor to getting tenure at the University of Houston, hitting burnout, navigating an integrity clash at MD Anderson over anti-racism training, and ultimately going full private practice in 2021 at 51. Her story is a masterclass in betting on yourself — even when it's scary. In this episode, we get into:Why high-achieving Black women are often the most disconnected from their own pleasure and how it all starts in childhoodThe link between proximity to white supremacist culture and delayed emotional developmentWhy pleasure (yes, all kinds) is a source of power and reclamation, not indulgenceWhat it actually looks like to advocate for yourself sexually and why most partners want to know but need a roadmapPractical ways to reconnect with your body when masturbation or sex feels off the tablePerimenopause: what nobody told us, what our mamas went through unmedicated, and why we're doing it differentlyWhat "choosing yourself" looks like as a Black woman — and how watching little Black girls be free reminded Dr. Nikki of who she was before the world got to herDr. Nikki is a licensed psychologist currently accepting individual and group therapy clients (high-achieving Black women) virtually in 46 states.📌 Find Dr. Nikki: @DrNikkiKnows on Instagram, Threads, YouTube | DrNikkiKnows.com📖 What Dr. Nikki is reading: Criminal Intentions by Cole McCabe — a queer, diverse crime thriller she describes as an absolute chokehold.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Finding Joy in the Chaos
This week’s episode was inspired by a podcast episode I heard with poet Ross Gay, who shared how he intentionally looks for small daily delights and writes them down. That idea stuck and sparked a bigger reflection about how easy it is to train our minds to find what’s wrong instead of what’s good.In this solo episode of Black Girls Bonding, we talk about: How our brains can become wired to scan for problems Why finding joy can feel uncomfortable during chaotic times The idea that delight might be an antidote to isolation How community shows up in the simplest, most everyday moments Kianti shares real examples of what has been bringing her joy lately, including: Slow mornings with coffee and quiet thoughts Reading in an oversized chair with jazz in the background Cozy reality TV nights with friends Long catch-up calls that cover everything from life updates to pop culture chaos A surprising realization emerges: most moments of delight are free and rooted in connection. The episode ends with a question for listeners: What delights are you intentionally making space for right now?Next week, a guest joins the show for a conversation you won’t want to miss.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

The Meantime
Atlanta is having one of those “fake spring” weeks. Warm sunshine one day, cold temperatures the next. It feels like the weather is faking us out. That idea ended up becoming the perfect metaphor for this season of life.In this episode, I’m reflecting on what it means to sit in the meantime. That period where things are moving, but maybe not as quickly or as smoothly as you hoped.Over the past few months, I’ve had a lot of honest conversations with fellow entrepreneurs, many of them Black women, and we’ve all been saying the same thing. The year isn’t quite popping the way we expected. That realization pushed me to look inward and ask some hard questions. Was I really doing everything I could be doing? Was fear holding me back from taking bigger, bolder steps? What would it look like to trust my track record and move forward anyway? In this episode, I talk about:• The fear that shows up when we try to build something new • Why remembering your “receipts” matters • How Black women are often taught to shrink instead of celebrate ourselves • What it looks like to use slow seasons intentionally • Finding joy, rest, and growth in the meantimeBecause the truth is, life rarely lines up perfectly. There is almost always something unfinished, uncertain, or still unfolding. So the question becomes: what do we do with the time in between?Pop Culture CornerThis week I’m talking about the HBO series Industry and while I loved the show, I hated each one of the characters. It has all of the makings of your fave new show: the ambition, the cutthroat culture, and the characters you love to hate.Let’s just say… I couldn’t root for any of them.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Soft Life. Hard Truths.
Most of us have been told that growth requires discomfort. Intellectually, we get that. We nod along. We agree. Emotionally? It hits different. In this episode, I share a moment that stopped me in my tracks while I was on my treadmill, huffing through an incline workout. When my instructor said, “If you’re comfortable, increase your speed,” it felt like she was talking about more than fitness.I’ve been clear about wanting a soft and lucrative life. Slow mornings. Coffee. Journaling. Movement. Rest. But what I had to confront is this: softness does not eliminate discomfort. It simply means you choose where and how you stretch yourself. In this episode, I talk about:Why comfort won’t produce the results we say we wantHow softness and ambition can coexistThe areas in my life where I am choosing to turn up the heatWhat it really takes to build the business, body, and life you envisionThere is no point of arrival. There is only evolution. If you’re feeling stuck, craving growth, or wondering how to balance ease with effort, this one is for you.And yes, I give my quick take on Selling Sunset because I am late and obsessed.DM me or email me and tell me: where are you willing to get uncomfortable?Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

In this episode, host Kianti sits down with her homegirl, Carline Hooker, the "saleswoman extraordinaire" and founder of NetworkIt.Carline brings 14 years of marriage experience (and 17 years of partnership) to the table for a conversation that moves past the "Instagrammable" version of relationships and into the "real deal Holyfield" truth. Gentle Beginnings
It’s been a minute, but I’m back and easing into the year with intention. In this episode, I’m talking about why I’m rejecting “strong starts” and choosing a softer beginning to the year instead. I reflect on last year as my first full year in business, what it meant to simply be profitable, cared for, and steady, and why that deserves celebration. We talk about seasonal energy, rest, and why winter is not the time to force growth. I share how I’m aligning more intentionally with natural cycles, including the 13 moon calendar, and why I’m giving myself permission to nurture what already exists instead of rushing into what’s next.I also reflect on different life paths, motherhood, and a powerful reminder that there are many peak human moments worth celebrating. Becoming a mother is one of them. It is not the only one. And, of course, I wrap with quick takes on what I watched over the break. If you’re craving ease, rest, and affirmation that you’re not behind, this one’s for you.Mentioned in this episode: Link to source on the 13 moon calendarWatch list quick takes:Knives OutOne Battle After AnotherPluribusReal Housewives of Salt Lake City If this episode resonated, share it with a friend, rate the show, and be sure to subscribe wherever you listen.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Soft Endings
In this the last episode of 2025 and as we roll into the end of the year, I want to offer something different. No “end the year strong.” No “grind ‘til the last minute.” I’m over it, and I know a lot of y’all are too.In this freestyle episode, I’m talking about what it looks like to close the year softly with intention, gentleness, and care. I share the three things I’m doing to wrap 2025 in a way that actually nourishes me instead of draining me:1. Ending my workday early. I’m committed to shutting things down by 3 p.m. when I can, giving myself back time, space, and ease.2. Reconnecting with my people. Spending time with the community I’ve built in Atlanta, meeting up more in person, and supplementing those meet-ups with FaceTimes and phone calls to the folks who aren’t close by.3. Resting + reconnecting with myself. Doing what makes my spirit light. Dancing until I sweat. Hitting a dance floor and losing myself in joy. Choosing softness as a practice. If you’re tired, stretched thin, or over the pressure to “push through,” this one’s for you. Let’s end the year in softness, not stress.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Caring for the Little Girl Within
In this week’s episode of Black Girls Bonding, I’m talking about something I never expected to record an episode on: what it means to reparent yourself, to care for the little girl you once were.I share a very personal part of my story, including my journey through infertility, the deep grief that followed, and how I slowly found my way back to myself with the support of therapy and a whole lot of honesty. When my therapist first introduced the idea of “parenting myself,” I wanted no parts of it. It felt too raw, too painful, and honestly… I didn’t understand it.But as I leaned into the practice, I discovered the parts of me, specifically my six-year-old self, who needed gentleness, curiosity, and care. In this episode, I talk about how I began reconnecting with what made me joyful, safe, and seen, and how tending to those needs has become one of my most meaningful self-care practices.Whether you're in a season of healing, rediscovery, or just craving softness, I hope this conversation helps you think about the younger version of yourself. What she loved, what she needed, and how you might show up for her now.I’d love to hear from you: What does it look like to you to care for the little girl within? Also, as promised, here's a link to buy The Trial of Mrs. RhinelanderInstagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Let Yourself Feel the Win
In this episode, Kianti talks about the importance of holding on to hope, especially when the world feels unpredictable. Inspired by the recent Democratic wins across the country, she reflects on what it means to celebrate progress without bracing for the next blow.As someone who’s used to waiting for the other shoe to drop, Kianti shares her journey of learning to rewire her brain to stay present, savor joy, and let herself feel the win—because anticipating what’s next only robs us of the moment we’re in.Tune in for a reminder that hope isn’t naïve. When to Fight and When to Let Go
Some fights are worth it. Others? They’re invitations to let go.In this week’s episode of Black Girls Bonding, I’m reflecting on one of life’s hardest lessons: learning when to push and when to surrender. After weeks of wrestling with QuickBooks, the IRS, and my own stubbornness, I hit a wall and finally heard that quiet voice telling me: let it go.This episode is about that moment. The one where faith, frustration, and acceptance collide. I talk about: ✨ What it means to “fight first, release later” ✨ How surrendering doesn’t mean giving up ✨ The peace (and power) that comes from letting goIf you’ve been fighting a battle that feels like it’s going nowhere — whether it’s with work, relationships, or life itself — this one’s for you.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

When Everything Feels Heavy
Things are heavy right now.In this short and heartfelt episode, I’m talking about what it feels like to live in a world that’s constantly demanding our attention, energy, and empathy — and what we can do to protect our peace in the midst of it.I share three simple, powerful practices that always help me find my footing again: 💛 Find community – you’re not meant to carry it all alone. 🖤 Unplug – doom scrolling won’t save us. 💛 Find your joy – big or small, joy is a survival skill. This one’s an invitation to slow down, breathe, and do something — anything — that makes you feel alive again.Plus, I couldn’t resist a quick Morning Show recap (because Mia Jordan? Are We Okay?
This week on Black Girls Bonding, I’m asking a simple but heavy question: Are we okay?Lately, I’ve noticed so much vitriol online. Yes, the internet has always had its share of negativity, but lately it feels sharper—especially toward Black women. From journalists like Karen Attiah being punished for telling the truth, to Jemele Hill being publicly attacked, to hundreds of thousands of Black women facing unemployment despite being the most educated demographic in the country—the attacks feel relentless. But what’s hitting me hardest is how much of that harshness we’re turning on each other. From the reaction to Crissle’s opinion on The Read to Tabitha Brown’s heartfelt encouragement, I’ve seen us pile on one another with judgment and cruelty instead of grace. So in this episode, I unpack: ✨ Why it feels like we’re hurting more than ever right now ✨ How Malcolm X’s words about Black women still ring true ✨ Why we need to show up as safe spaces for each other ✨ A call to action to pour into Black women—through organizations, community, and kindnessAs LaTosha Brown recently reminded me on a Win with Black Women call: we’re all activists now. We don’t have a choice. Let’s make sure our activism includes care, grace, and support for one another.Plus, a quick Huntin Wives recap to lighten things up.🔗 Learn more about Win with Black Women: https://www.winwithblackwomen.org/Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Healing Isn’t a Solo Journey
This week, I’m talking about those moments when life feels heavy: grief, overwhelm, and the urge to retreat into isolation. I share how a conversation with my best friend shifted my perspective: maybe the Universe isn’t working against me, but actually working for me.In this episode, I get into: ✨ Why isolating when you’re down can be harmful (yes, the science backs this up) ✨ How community, even when we don’t want it, can be medicine ✨ The importance of doing the things we don’t feel like doing, from workouts to cookouts ✨ How cultivating connection is really an act of self-careAnd yes, I close with a little TV talk — Big Brother has me in a full-on love/hate spiral this season. If you’ve been feeling low or tempted to pull away, this one’s for you.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

The Love Island Reunion Was a Mess
This week, we’re breaking down the Love Island Reunion, and whew… there was mess. From Amaya laughing through cheating rumors to Chris standing on biz, to Olandria serving tea and Huda proving (again) that she’s the clout-chasing villain of the season — I have thoughts. We’ll talk fake apologies, mean-girl alliances, why America really hates to see Black women loved out loud, and how Huda’s “all lives matter” energy exposed her for exactly what she is. Plus: the Nic + Olandria dynamic, Jeremiah’s pancake saga, Austin looking like he was on something, and why Ace will always be that guy (for better or worse). It’s a lot. Grab your tea and let’s get into it.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

When Life Interrupts the Plan
What do you do when your big, beautiful plan doesn’t go the way you hoped? When the version of success you dreamed up gets delayed, detoured, or dismantled altogether? In this episode, I’m reflecting on the hard, human moments when life doesn’t cooperate and how I’m learning to make room for what’s still unfolding. It’s not a neat lesson at all. It’s a lived experience. This one is for anyone who's had to pivot, pause, or pick themselves up after a plot twist.Instagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Don't Tell Yourself No

Bring Back the Cookout
Once upon a time, the cookout was more than just a meal. It was a ritual, a reunion, a refuge. But somewhere along the way, the vibe shifted. In this episode, we talk about the quiet disappearance of Black cookouts and what that says about where we are right now as a community. Is it perfectionism? A little too much self-care? That one cousin you don’t mess with anymore? Maybe all of the above.Let’s get into the obstacles keeping us from connecting, and why it’s time to stop waiting for perfect conditions and just bring back the cookout. Call to action: Host something. Anything. A potluck, a porch sit, a game night. Just don’t let the gathering die.In this episode:Why the cookout mattersThe impact of hyper-curation and isolationHow perfectionism is blocking connectionWhat self-care can’t replaceA loving nudge to pull up againInstagram @BlackGirlsBonding

Make the Cookies
This week’s episode is tender. I share a little bit about my grandma’s, Dee Dee, recent passing and the quiet grief that’s been sitting with me. Before she passed, she asked me to bake her some cookies—and I forgot.I’m not sitting in regret, but I am sitting in reflection. This episode is about how we hold space for loss, how we forgive ourselves for being human, and how we try—bit by bit—to love better, more presently, more intentionally.Because life moves fast, and sometimes, we miss the small things. But the beauty is, we can always begin again. In this episode, I share:A personal reflection on losing my grandmotherThe lesson in a forgotten batch of cookiesHow I’m choosing to be more intentional with the people I loveGrief isn’t always loud.
