    Death Anniversaries & Anticipatory Grief

We kick off Season 2 with the anticipation of the 3 year anniversary of my husband's death. December sucks around here. Explaining death anniversaries is so much more complex than simply missing your person a little extra. It's reliving the darkest days in real time. Maybe there is no "cheering up" or "distracting", but just simply getting through them. We know there is no fixing it, but it truly does get easier to carry the weight of this grief with time. I am focusing on remembering the good and the happiness before he died, and hoping to just get through the dark days after.Personally, I know I could have been a better support person to Josh regarding the loss of his mom if I had this insight.Bloom & Grow,LizInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bloomandgrow.llc/Email: [email protected]: Www.bloomandgrowwithliz.comOur mission is simple: Make it easier to grow through grief.Thank you for blooming & growing with us.

Lessons Learned the Hard Way on How to Talk to Someone That is Grieving

This is a tough one. After my husband died, I had a lot of people reach out in well-intentioned ways. I give examples of things to say and not to say, and most importantly WHY. Ask yourself: Am I doing this to make the grieving person feel better, or am I doing this to make myself feel better? Treat others how THEY want to be treated.I encourage grievers to give grace (within reason) but also take the initiative to tell people what you need. I know it’s not fair. You lost someone and now it’s YOUR job to tell people what you need. But sometimes that’s what needs to be done.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bloomandgrow.llc/Email: [email protected] 1 of Bloom and Grow all initially aired on the Sunny Mary Meadow Podcast (https://media.rss.com/sunnymarymeadow/feed.xml)Our mission is simple: Make it easier to grow through grief.Thank you for blooming & growing with us.http://www.instagram.com/bloomandgrow.llc/Www.bloomandgrowwithliz.com

Fertility Treatments, Widowed, Husband’s Funeral & Two Pink Lines…All in 13 days

We prayed for over a year for a baby. When God finally answered that prayer, it was days after my husband died. I found out I was pregnant the day after funeral. We struggled with infertility, and ultimately we were blessed with a baby in the end. It wasn’t the happy ended we expected though. In this Bloom & Grow episode, I share my experience in hopes that you have a bit more empathy for those going through infertility, experiencing pregnancies after loss (including miscarriage), and understand the complexity of grief that doesn’t allow for complete and whole happiness.Season 1 of Bloom and Grow all initially aired on the Sunny Mary Meadow Podcast (https://media.rss.com/sunnymarymeadow/feed.xml)Our mission is simple: Make it easier to grow through grief.Thank you for blooming & growing with us.http://www.instagram.com/bloomandgrow.llc/Www.bloomandgrowwithliz.com

How Sunny Mary Meadow Got its Name

Grief can affect us in many ways. I use my perspective of loving, losing, and moving forward to help people simply develop more of an understanding of grief. From understanding comes empathy, and that’s a step in the right direction of being considerate of other’s feelings.Equally as important, I share the lessons I learned after widowhood in giving grace to those that didn’t know what to say or said the wrong thing. If you get mad at everyone who doesn’t know what to say, you’re not going to have any friends left.Season 1 of Bloom and Grow all initially aired on the Sunny Mary Meadow Podcast (https://media.rss.com/sunnymarymeadow/feed.xml)Would love to hear from you!
