How to Endure Hard Seasons of Motherhood

Hard seasons have a way of revealing what's really in our hearts. Whether you're walking through a difficult season of motherhood, feeling discouraged, or simply trying to keep your head above water, this episode is for you. In today's conversation, I'm sharing some of the biggest lessons I've learned walking through hard seasons of motherhood, along with practical strategies, biblical encouragement, and perspective shifts that have helped me move from simply surviving to allowing it to be a time of growth in endurance and capacity for all that motherhood brings.  In this episode, we'll cover: Practical ways to endure hard seasons of motherhood Perspective shifts that bring more peace and hope Scriptures that have anchored me lately Lessons I've learned in difficult days, stages, and seasons of motherhood   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   The Calm Mom Club Waitlist: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? The Hidden Purpose Behind Challenging Behaviors

What if your child's challenging behavior isn't just an opportunity for their growth—but yours too? In this episode, I share why I believe there is a formula for improving behavior, despite what some Christian voices may say. We talk about why understanding child development and behavior doesn't compete with Scripture, it complements it. I also share why blanket encouragement like "you're a good mom" isn't always the message we need, and how to honestly evaluate whether we're growing or simply staying comfortable. Finally, we explore the perspective shift that has changed my own parenting: moving from asking, "God, why won't You change this?" to "God, how are You using this to change me?"   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   The Calm Mom Club Waitlist: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? The Parenting Habit That's Keeping You Stuck

My brain naturally wants to lecture when my kids are fighting or when someone misbehaves or disobeys. What I've also learned is that it doesn't work when my kids (or me) are dys-regulated. However, my brain continues to try and push me to do it in the heat of the moment...why? Today, we are talking all about it. There are 5 main reasons I believe we do this and I'm going to shed some light on them. I also walk you through how to start shifting those habits and patterns so you don't stay stuck there - without awareness, there is no action. And without action, there is no change. BONUS pep talk at the end - I know this work is hard and I never want to sugar coat it. But the longer I've been parenting this way, working on my own triggers and regulation, and focusing on intentional connection and conscious responses the easier it has gotten and the more fruit I've seen! And I want that for YOU too!!   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   The Calm Mom Club Waitlist: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? The Formula To Drastically Decrease Public Tantrums

Do you want to avoid the public tantrum with your child so much so that you give in to more screen time than you'd like? Or rely on threats or bribes to get you through? Do you sometimes avoid going out altogether? Then today is for you!    You will learn the one thing that will help drastically decrease (or remove them pretty much altogether, though I can't make promises) the public tantrums with examples from my own motherhood.   I address some common areas that we often overlook that can help reinforce patterns that we actually don't want and how to make adjustments today!   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   Episode on How to Handle Public Tantrums: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000627190955   The Calm Mom Club Waitlist: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? My Response to the Viral Mom Hack Where You Shout a Random Person's Name During Your Child's Tantrum

If you've never heard of this "hack" it's spreading around social media like wildfire...the idea is that when your toddler/young child is having a meltdown you start shouting a random name and this distracts your child out of the meltdown. Listen in as I share why I do NOT recommend this. I dive into reason's why that specifically relate to your child's development and emotional processing. I also share what might be happening for you as the parent if you find yourself doing this (or using other distraction methods) and what to do about it.   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   The Calm Mom Club Waitlist: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Ep on Why Crying is Important: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000554474011   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? The First Thing To Evaluate If You're Finding Yourself Easily Triggered Or Overstimulated As A Mom

Triggers have deep roots because they are a set of patterns that have been repeatedly enforced throughout your life, but there are a few other things that I think contribute to how frequently we are triggered and how easily frustrated we can become as moms to little kids. Today, I dive into one thing that I think is incredibly important to assess and reflect on that can significantly impact how we are showing up as moms and the level of overstimulation we are feeling. This conversation will also help you to go deeper into the thought processes you may not even know you have. And listen until the very end because I'm going to give you some specific questions to practically help you make some adjustments if needed!   Wanting more support? https://linktr.ee/chaos.to.connected   Wondering about something related to your child's behaviors, emotions, meltdowns and/or your own triggers? One of the biggest reasons you are getting triggered more easily by your child's behavior and what to do about it!

I have been really deeply reflecting on my more challenging parenting days lately and even thinking back to when I was really struggling with my oldest to determine what is one of the main contributing factors to both. And what I've discovered is that in both instances I have had expectations that went unmet.  These expectations weren't inappropriate or unrealistic for my child's age, however, it was unattainable at the place we were currently at.  Today, I share the #1 way you can assess if your expectations are aligning with your child's current skill level/ability and if not, what you can do about it.   Special Time Episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000550595812   1:1 coaching options, free resources, and courses: https://stan.store/KJZ112815   Connect with me through email [email protected] or by DM'ing me on IG @kaili.zeiher

Bribes vs Rewards + How to Implement Effectively

Are you struggling to manage your triggers with your child's behavior? Here's what you need to know!

I am a part of a few business broadcast channels on IG and I got a message a couple weeks ago talking about the bare minimum or baseline standard for what you would do each day to keep your business moving forward, for establishing a consistent foundation. I thought this was also really pertinent to managing triggers... ‘if you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve." Anthony Robbins Today, I share what a baseline standard for trigger management might look like and give you some examples of how to create your own to help create a stronger foundation for maintaining your control during heated situations.   If you want to get more help with triggers, check out my Regulation Reboot class starting next week: https://stan.store/KJZ112815/p/mommy-management   Connect with me through email [email protected] or by DM'ing me on IG @kaili.zeiher

Advice for a mom starting (or restarting) on this connection focused parenting journey

While this way of parenting has been completely transformative for me and my family in SO many ways, that doesn't mean it has always come easy. Sometimes the challenges we face can make us question if this way is really the best way. It can also be discouraging if we aren't seeing the results we are expecting at the rate at which we are expecting them.   Today, I wanted to share 5 pieces of advice I have, after practicing this style of parenting DAILY for 3 years in hopes it can be an encouragement to any mom (dad, caregiver, etc) who is either just starting or who has fallen off and wants to get back into it.   If you have any other things you'd add, I'd love if you'd share! Most of the time we address the behavior we see; it's much easier and honestly, just comes naturally.  However, if we really want to see behavior shifts we need to get to the deeper rooted issue and find out what is really going on at a heart level so we can make consistent change. Friday Fruit: What are you contributing to your child's behavior?

Faith and my spiritual growth has a lot to do with how I am able to consistently incorporate this style of parenting. One of the things that has bothered me most is seeing christian influencers on IG share how this way of parenting is unbiblical. And while they, of course, are entitled to their own opinion, I think most often they don't truly understand what is behind. this way of parenting.    I have had a lot of feedback thanking me for sharing this unpopular opinion because others are feeling it too. I've also worked with several families struggling to know how faith and connected/gentle parenting all work together. So I thought it was time to create a new series on the podcast called Friday Fruit. I am going to share my personal experience with faith and parenting. **Reminder, I am not a theologian and I do not have any biblical degree. I'm just a mom who wants her kids to grow up knowing and loving the Lord all while trying my best to glorify Him in the process.   This week's episode is brought to you by Matthew 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?    1:1 Coaching, Ask Your Question, Courses: https://stan.store/KJZ112815   Connect with me here: Email - [email protected] IG - @kaili.zeiher

5 Ways You Are More Like Your Child Than Unlike Him/Her

It can be really easy, especially when you are parenting a child who is struggling with behavior or lots of strong emotions, to forget that your child is just a mini version of you. While life experience and higher level executive functioning skills aren't the same, the way the brain processes and responds to hurts is. It can be easy to forget this when you are triggered from behavior so today, I want to share how parents/caregivers are more like their child than not.   Ep on Apologizing: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000613660033   Tame Your Triggers Masterclass: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/mju18pgf63   Connect with me here: https://www.instagram.com/kailijozeiher/ or [email protected].   XO Kaili

Is your child's aggressive behavior due to a sensory processing issue?

One of the most common questions I get asked is what types of deep input activities I would recommend for a child who acts or plays aggressively (hitting, kicking, throwing, etc). Previously, I would go into detail on how to incorporate into a sensory diet, but now, through additional training and experience I recognize that this alone isn't the answer.   Today, I share how sensory processing works and how to bridge the gap effectively AND efficiently between the behaviors you are seeing and improved regulation!   *If you have any questions as to if your child has a true sensory processing disorder, email me or seek out a local OT for assessment.   Tame Your Triggers Masterclass: https://chaostoconnected.myflodesk.com/mju18pgf63   Connect with me here: https://www.instagram.com/kailijozeiher/ or [email protected].   XO Kaili

Do you ever feel overwhelmed or exhausted and then struggle to approach behavior with connection?

Last week, I asked what was the hardest thing about connection focused parenting; one of the responses I received was that when feeling exhausted it was especially hard to try to respond to behaviors positively or with connection.   I. Hear. That.!!!   Today, I wanted to share what to do if you're finding yourself in this same situation...and you might be surprised by my recommendation!   If this episode, or any episode you've previously listened to you has blessed or helped you, would you be willing to go and leave a rating and review on Apple Podcasts? I know mommas all over the world are searching for tangible, simple strategies to help improve behavior without using punishments, rewards, and manipulation to achieve it. 4 Ways to Help You Keep Your Cool When You Get Triggered!

One of the biggest challenges I continue to hear over and over from moms is that the behavior can be a struggle, yes, but overall it's figuring out how to stay calm through that behavior that poses the biggest obstacle.   Today, I wanted to share some insights with you! If you are aware of what your triggers are but haven't yet processed them, or even know how to do that, I am walking you through the 4 things I have done (and still occasionally do) to help me come with more love, empathy, and understanding to those challenging and button pushing behaviors.   I was reading a book recently and the author talked about ruts and trenches. The ruts being our automatic responses; your reaction to your child (one you likely feel guilty or upset about later but can't seem to change). The trenches being your conscious choice to do something different. A rut is something you get stuck in but a trench is something you dig. Let's start digging those trenches!!   And if you want some help and encouragement along the way, join my monthly membership The Motherhood CONNECTION: https://view.flodesk.com/emails/65977fa029eaba0244c4dd66   Affiliate link (25% off) for oil + capsule: https://doterra.me/H1ZS3U   Magnesium: https://www.pureencapsulationspro.com/magnesium-glycinate.html?size=90%20capsules   XO Kaili

The truth about timeouts and what you can do instead!

Timeouts are such a common practice when parents are trying to get their kids to listen; I would even venture to guess it's a recommendation from professionals and something regularly talked about as a helpful behavior strategy on the internet.   But, did you know that sending your child off to a timeout is creating more disconnection. When there is disconnection, your child's "thinking" brain is inaccessible. This creates MORE of the unwanted behavior.   Instead, get CONNECTED! Connection = better behavior.   Tune in today as I share your child's perspective on timeouts and 2 strategies you can utilize instead that creates connection.   Chaos to Calm mini course: https://dawn-term-318.myflodesk.com   Stay Listening episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000554474011   Are you really okay with crying episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/chaos-to-connected-helping-parents-navigate-challenging/id1609008872?i=1000565110255   Want to schedule an info call and see if 1:1 coaching is right for you?? https://calendly.com/kjzeiher/behavior-call   Connect with me here: https://www.instagram.com/kailijozeiher/ or if you'd prefer email at [email protected].   XO Kaili

Stop talking so much! 2 areas you could be creating more overwhelm, overstimulation, and behavior.

When your child's behavior feels like a lot or you are feeling really chaotic and possibly even triggered, I think the natural inclination is to exert your authority in ways you might not normally because you are in need of more control.   When you want to gain more control over your child's meltdowns that often comes in the form of more talking. But, that's usually not going to get you anywhere...am I right?!   When your child is dysregulated - whether because they have done something you would deem disobedient, wrong, etc OR because they are just really struggling with big feelings it is a natural response to try and help them by spouting out a solution, ways to problem solve, or even trying to distract them and move on to something else.   Well, when a child is already overwhelmed, that is actually just adding to it. He/she can't take in the information you are sharing, even if it's calm, because the "thinking" brain is inaccessible. What they need in those moments is more listening and less talking.   Tune in today as I share 2 times when I think this is incredibly important and how you can be on the lookout for how you tend to respond and strategies to adjust if needed.   Want more info on my customized 1:1 coaching? Have you ever lost your cool with your child? Here’s how to repair your connection and improve behavior!

The morning of the day I recorded this episode was just one of those days...do you know what I'm talking about? When every time you turn your back your kids are fighting or a meltdown starts...   Well let's just say I didn't handle it as well as I usually do. I was majorly triggered. And despite knowing I was doing things, like yelling, that I hate doing and didn't want to do, I just couldn't help myself.   Despite practicing connection strategies DAILY for years, this still happens to me occasionally. And it's NORMAL. We are humans for goodness sake.   But, although it is normal because emotions can get the best of us and patterning can overcome us and triggers can take the driver's seat, it doesn't mean we sit back and do nothing.   When this occurs, it is vital that you take steps to repair the connection with your child so you aren't repeating generational patterning and so you can re-establish connection which will produce better results in keeping challenging or intense behaviors at bay.   Tune in as I share 5 steps in the repairing connection process!   Want more info on my customized 1:1 coaching?
