33 - LuLaRoe / Espiral Vinho Verde
In a SHOCKING twist, Eliza did the research for this episode on the tasteless LuLaRoe MLM from the 2010s. If you like leggings that smell bad AND have dicks on them, LuLaRoe is the brand for you. But the clothes aren't just lacking basic decency - it was also a cult. Ruth joins us as a guest, and she will be back next week too. I promised Eliza she could have 6 months off doing research again. Want to email us about your cult experience? 32 - Weird Dreams & Ghost Stories / Stormalong Mass Appeal Hard Cider
Eliza is out this week so Ruth and I cover a topic she vetoed because she thought "nobody cares about other people's dreams." This week we talk about weird dreams and ghost stories. And we drink Stormalong Hard Cider, which is the absolute best cider you can get. Want to tell us a ghost story? Email us at [email protected]

31 - Bad Popes / Apothic Dark Red Wine
The pope wasn't always an ancient man wearing a silly hat. In the old days - the REALLY old days - popes were young, frequently insane, and liked to party hard. On today's episode, we're going through a greatest hits of Bad Popes and Anti-Popes, mostly from the medieval times. And we're drinking the blood of Christ - red wine. Want to condemn us to hell for our sins? Email us at [email protected]
-
30
30 - Holy Grail / La Croix Black Razzberry
We sincerely apologize for missing last week, so this week's episode is coming out a little early. Today's topic is the Holy Grail and King Arthur. We also talk about Nic Cage, who went on a grail quest recently. Next week's topic is Popes and Anti-Popes, and we are returning to our Thursday release schedule. Want to tell us about your own grail quest? Email us at [email protected]

29 - Disappearances at National Parks / Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte
Something fishy is going on at the National Parks. And we're not talking about the bathrooms. We're talking about the disappearances. Thousands of people have gone missing within the parks, and many of the cold cases have strange circumstances surrounding them. On today's episode, we theorize on what could be to blame for the massive scale of missing persons at the National Parks. Is it the Skinwalkers? A wormhole to another dimension? A serial killer? Or is it perhaps...a giant bird? You be the judge. Want to email us stories of giant birds you saw? Email us at [email protected]

28 - The Unabomber / Orange Creamsicle Kombucha
Ted Kaczynski was a smart kid, and if he didn't skip 6th grade, it is possible that the only people talking about him today would be math nerds. But as fate would have it, he skipped ahead in middle school, was bullied by his peers, experimented on by the CIA as part of project MK Ultra, had a mental breakdown, moved into the woods, and declared war on modern society. It was in the late 70s that he transformed into the domestic terrorist "The Unabomber." He killed three people and injured 23 more. And if he hadn't messed up his figures of speech, he might have gotten away with it. But you can't eat your cake and have it too. Want to recommend a new topic? Email us at [email protected]

27 - Titanic / V8
It was probably inevitable that we would cover Titanic on this show. But I never thought we would drink V8 vegetable juice. Needless to say, Eliza's reign of terror is coming to an end. She is now BANNED from getting "surprise drinks," and I am setting a new rule permitting her to only get up once during an episode. On this one she got up 4 or 5 times to get a blanket, socks, ice cubes, and God knows what else. Anyway, today we talk about the tragedy of the Titanic, notable people on board, and the aftermath. Someday we will cover the Titan submersible, but that incident deserves its own episode. Email us at [email protected]

26 - Assassination of Abraham Lincoln / Cold Brew Coffee
Today we're drinking cold brew coffee and discussing the cold blooded killing of Honest Abe. We talk about the many tragedies of Lincoln's life, the insane events leading up to his assassination, and the coincidences and paranormal events that surround him and murderous actor John Wilkes Booth. This is one of the Big Kahuna topics, so if you are interested in Abraham Lincoln, there is WAY more to this story than we had time to cover on this episode. Email us at [email protected]
-
25
25 - Weird Baseball Players / Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
No Eliza on this episode - she'll return next week. Ruth is back to talk about weird baseball players. Baseball is so old that there is over a hundred years of strange bastards that have played the game and been weirdos on and off the field. We also briefly mention the Monkey of the Boston Garden, which, though interesting, is not a long enough story for a full episode. Join us as we drink Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and discuss Rube Waddell, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, Hideki Matsui, Wade "Chicken Man" Boggs, Moisés Alou, Manny Ramirez and more. Email us at [email protected]

24 - Action Park: The Most Dangerous Amusement Park / No Drink :(
No drink this week out of solidarity with the victims of Action Park... In all honesty, we have gotten profoundly lazy on the drink selection aspect of this show. We sincerely apologize and promise to be better about it. We were supposed to get slurpees and go to the beach, but it was cold and rainy. Today we're talking about Action Park, an amusement park in New Jersey that claimed the lives of a half-dozen people and caused thousands of injuries. With such a tragic backstory, you would expect that visitors would look back on their time at Action Park with sadness and regret. You'd be wrong. As it turns out, the people of New Jersey are so bored and reckless that they feel a nostalgia for the old Grave Pool. I don't think anyone misses the Cannonball Loop, though. Other than dentists. Those sickos. Email us at [email protected]

23 - The Mandela Effect / Sunkist Orange Soda
Is human memory faulty? Or is there a vast conspiracy afoot involving the Bilderberg Group and a particle accelerator to make everyone think Sinbad's genie movie in the 90s doesn't exist? Today, we attempt to make sense of the Mandela Effect, in which people's memories of historical events and the Fruit of the Loom logo don't line up with our present reality. This is probably our most scientific episode to date, so you might want to have your stethoscope and calculator on hand. We literally talk about Stephen Hawking at one point. But we also talk about turkey legs so it's not all serious. Have a story or wikipedia article you want to recommend? Email us at [email protected] Next week we will cover the most dangerous amusement park in American history - Action Park. And we may or may not be drinking Slurpees.

22 - The Big Dig / Fluffy Dr. Pepper
Boston's infamous Big Dig is one of the most expensive construction projects in human history. It made traffic worse and now Boston is so expensive you have to be a billionaire to live there, but at least now there are some nice trees on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Sure, they had to plow through archaeological sites and it won't be paid off until 2038, but the Sports Bars at the Seaport have so many TV's and people unironically wearing cowboy hats that it was worth everything. This is the first episode of Drink With Me that would really be helped if we could show you videos and pictures. If you are able to, queue up some videos on youtube of Boston before the Big Dig so you can watch along while we talk. It looked like crap before the Big Dig. Now it just smells like pee. It looks good. Well...maybe not good. But better. Want to share your own wikipedia wormholes? Email us at [email protected]. We will read your comments on the air, no matter how horrific they are. We have no shame. Kind of like the construction companies that were hired for the Big Dig.

21 - The Chappaquiddick Incident / Rose Kennedy Cocktail
The Kennedy's are Massachusetts's royal family. On today's show we revisit one of their darkest tragedies - The Chappaquiddick Incident. Everyone from Boston will tell you that Ted Kennedy "overcame his demons" and "passed a lot of bills" as a senator, but we think he was, frankly, a piece of garbage and should have gone to prison. This episode is dedicated to Mary Jo Kopechne. Next week we're sticking with Massachusetts tragedies - The Big Dig. Email us at [email protected]

20 - Nic Cage / Nespresso
To coincide with the release of his new movie "Longlegs," today's topic is the life and career of the one and only Nic Cage. We talk about his movies, his grail quest, the stolen dinosaur he bought, and more. We love Nic on this show, so if you clicked on this wanting to listen to people trash the man, the myth, the legend Nic Cage, you've come to the wrong place. We don't trash Nic. Well, we do a little. But we mainly praise him. Eliza saw "Longlegs" in theaters hours after we recorded this, and she will give her review at the beginning of the next episode. Please email us with feedback and/or suggestions at [email protected]

19 - Dowsing / Ube Milk
Guest host Ruth joins me on location in New York, talking about dowsing, rainmakers, cloudbusting and how we think the world needs more fun and less math. Eliza is back next week. Email us with questions and topic suggestions at [email protected]

18 - Secret Societies / Kool-Aid
This is the first solo podcast for Drink With Me. Eliza had a Covid scare and we couldn't record at our usual time last weekend, so I'm on my own for this episode. The topic is Secret Societies - one that Eliza has no interest in, so it is just as well I'm doing it solo. I discuss the Bilderberg Group, the Freemasons, the Knights Templar and more. If I had a tin foil hat I'd be wearing it. But I did find some blue Kool-Aid to help the conspiracies flow. Next week is also Eliza-less. Ruth and I will be on vacation in New York, and the topic will be Dowsing. But Eliza will be back the week after. She's been playing a lot of The Sims 2 to pass the time. Please for the love of God, email us: [email protected]
-
17
17 - Lizzie Borden / Long Way Back Cider
Today's topic is axe-murderer, pear-enthusiast and Massachusetts legend Lizzie Borden. Murder is wrong...BUT we love Lizzie and we think she is misunderstood. She's the antidote for the Victorian Period Pieces like Bridgerton. A show like that needs Lizzie Borden to spice things up. She wasn't walking around in fancy gowns sipping tea and talking about the queen. She was too busy sharpening her hatchet and slashing her parents. She was a go-getter. And her house is haunted. Trust me, I've been there. Want to reach us? Email us at [email protected]

16 - Mount Everest / Coors Light
Today's episode is not for the faint of heart. Eliza thought we were going to be talking about how "beautiful" Mount Everest is. Not exactly. Everest is a terrifying place and there are so many ways it can kill you. But the simple goal of climbing Earth's highest mountain continues to lure in rich people that feel unfulfilled by the monotony of modern life. So strap on your crampons, fill up your oxygen tank and try not to fall into a crevasse (pronounced creh-VASS) as we discuss the adventure and horror of Mount Everest. Email us at [email protected] Next week is the history of burlesque.
-
15
15 - Phantom of the Opera / Guinness
Phantom of the Opera is the best musical ever, so we're drinking the best beer ever - Guinness. We discuss the novel, movie adaptations and the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Email us at [email protected] Next week's topic is Mount Everest.
-
14
14 - Outsider Music / Wild Cherry Pepsi
Cherry Phosphate Soda proved elusive, and cherry syrup is evidently going extinct at grocery stores, so we settled on Wild Cherry Pepsi for our Outsider Music episode. Though the definition of "outsider" is up for debate, we talk about the usual suspects - The Shaggs, Captain Beefheart, Arcesia, Skip Spence, Syd Barrett, Daniel Johnston, Brian Wilson, Tiny Tim, Moondog and Rebecca Black. We only scratched the surface. So grab a drink, put on your trout masks, and join us on a journey into the murky depths of outsider music. Feedback? Suggestions? Complaints? Email us at [email protected]. Playlist for This Episode: The Shaggs - My Pal Foot Foot Captain Beefheart - I'm Glad Captain Beefheart - My Human Gets Me Blues Captain Beefheart - Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles Arcesia - Soul Wings Daniel Johnston - True Love Will Find You In The End Skip Spence - Little Hands Syd Barrett - Golden Hair Brian Wilson/The Beach Boys - Shortnin' Bread (17 minute long version)

13
13 - Atlantis / White Claw Hard Seltzer
The long-threatened Atlantis episode has finally come to light. We were supposed to cover Dowsing with Ruth, but we ran out of time over the weekend, so it is officially Atlantis week. In this episode, we cover the ancient civilization of prehistory known as Atlantis. We discuss the myth, possible evidence, and ostriches, who are in fact quite scary. Next week's topic is Outsider Music. Want to give us with feedback, complaints or pictures of your cat? Email us at [email protected]

12 - Pigeons / Starbucks
On this devastatingly sad episode of Drink With Me, we discuss the plight of pigeons, man's bird-best friend. We bred them to trust us, and then we threw them into the streets with the possums and skunks to fend for themselves. I wish I could say we did pigeons the service of recording this episode professionally in peace and quiet, but we had somewhere to be, so we recorded it on a car ride to Maine as we drank Starbucks. Pigeons picked the wrong animal to be bird-best friends with, clearly. And Eliza almost got into several accidents on the drive. A pigeon would have done a better job. All we ask is that you be kind and feed the birds. Tuppence. Tuppence. Whatever that means. Do it. Want to comment on this episode, recommend a topic for a future episode, or complain about the way bananas don't taste the way they used to in the old days? Email us at [email protected]

11 - President William Howard Taft / Mint Julep
Big Bill Taft was the last United States President that you could say was "too honest" for the job. He was a living cartoon character, an avid golfer, and the singular man responsible for 67% of possum skeletons found in the continental United States. But if the most interesting forgotten President isn't your thing, we also discuss Alice Roosevelt's pet snake Emily Spinach, recount the chilling tale of "The Thing" - the ghost of Abe Lincoln's son that haunted the Taft White House, and uncover a plot twist concerning Taft's friend and confidant Archibald Willingham DeGraffenreid Clarendon Butt. Next week's topic is pigeons. Prepare to cry. Want to reach us with comments, topic and/or drink recommendations, or conspiracies you concocted in a drug induced stupor? Email us anytime, day or night, at [email protected]

10 - Guy Fieri / Flavortown Spiked Fruit Punch
After listening back to the dour and joyless slog that was Episode 9 of Drink With Me, we decided to shelve the Atlantis episode in favor of something more fun and lighthearted. So this week the topic is none other than Guy Fieri. He's the people's chef. The architect of Flavortown. The inventor of "donkey sauce" (which, evidently, is just aioli). We highly and unironically recommend his Boston restaurant, Guy Fieri's Boston Kitchen + Bar, which is basically the Rainforest Cafe on acid. When you go there, tell 'em Jim and Eliza sent ya. They won't know who we are. We didn't use our names and paid in cash so we wouldn't leave a paper trail. We just want to confuse them. If you want to recommend a future topic, or have feedback on an episode, you can reach us at [email protected]. Next week, we are covering another of the Big Kahunas, literally - President William Howard Taft. You won't want to miss it.
-
9
9 - Osama Bin Laden / Sam Adams Boston Lager
Jim and Eliza drink Sam Adams beer and discuss rogue construction worker Osama Bin Laden, who liked poetry, the Arsenal football club, and the Woody Allen movie Antz. If you want to play a drinking game, take a sip whenever Eliza groans with frustration. We promise the next episode will be more lighthearted, but we've broken that promise before... If you want to suggest future topics, drinks, or just want to complain to someone about your life, you can reach us at [email protected]. Next week is ATLANTIS, and we're drinking White Claws.
-
8
8 - Drowned Towns / Sparkling Botanical Tea
Special guest Ruthie joins us on a chilling episode of Drink with Me detailing the historical tragedy of American Drowned Towns. Not even the water is a safe place to hide, because these ghosts can swim. The only safe place, evidently, is Flavortown, where pizzas are potholes. So there's other problems, but skeletons aren't one of them. If you want to reach us for topic and/or drink recommendations, feedback or any comments, our email is [email protected]
-
7
7 - Rasputin / Red Wine
Today we cover one of the Big Kahuna topics - Grigori Rasputin. We delve into our girl Alexandra, the sad queen, her son Alexei who she forbade from playing badminton, the family sport, and of course the Mad Monk himself. He was the Charles Manson of his time, except he didn't record any songs with The Beach Boys so Griggy will have to settle for second place on the Most Interesting Cult Leaders ranking. Contact us at [email protected] for questions, comments or suggestions for future episodes.
