    Student to District VP: Journeys in Advisor Sales | Episode 82

    Fidelity's Advisor Sales department is a great place for young professionals to rise through the ranks and establish their careers in the financial services industry. Many members of this department started out as co-op students and have grown through multiple different roles on their journey up the advisor sales career ladder. Both of today's guests are former co-op students and have now found a permanent place in the Advisor Sales team. Joining host Tamara Radocaj today are senior business development manager Nicole Dungey, and Business Development Representative Ariana Bill. They provide an overview of the sales development program at Fidelity that allows employees to be promoted through various different roles in the first years of their career, from business development representative to associate, manager, and senior manager roles, eventually leading up to the district vice president role. To find success in this competitive sales environment, they discuss the different sales styles they have observed, and share advice on finding an authentic approach that aligns with one's personality. They also share their experience with various projects and initiatives at Fidelity, both as co-op students and full-time employees, and emphasize the strong culture, training, and development opportunities at Fidelity, which make it an attractive workplace for young professionals.

    Tips from a campus recruiter: How to stand out in your co-op interview | Episode 81

    On today's episode, host Emily Anonuevo is joined by Campus Relations Specialist Aneesah Rashad, to discuss the student recruitment process and opportunities available at Fidelity. Aneesah's responsibilities include hiring 60-80 students every four months, promoting Fidelity's brand on campuses, building relationships with universities and colleges, and providing advice to students on improving their resumes, applications, and interview skills. Aneesah goes into detail about the student recruitment process at Fidelity, which involves a two-week application window, followed by interviews and onboarding for successful candidates. How candidates present themselves in these interviews is vital for their advancement, which is why Aneesah goes over how to prepare for some of the most important interview questions, such as "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work here?", "Why this role?", "Describe your strengths and weaknesses" and "How would you solve a conflict without much guidance". Fidelity offers a wide range of roles beyond finance and business, many of which Aneesah cover's on today's episode, in departments like sales, human resources, marketing, and technology. Students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, as the company values transferable skills.

    Kick off your career & investing journeys together | Episode 80

    Today's episode is all about Investly, and how this new app from Fidelity can help you in your career journey, as well as your personal investing journey. Investly is an investing app designed for first-time investors, especially students and young professionals, to help them take the first steps into investing. Features include guided investing that is tailored to your specific needs, educational content, goal-setting features, and on-demand financial advice from registered portfolio managers. Host Tamara Radocaj is joined by Iona Seider-Ramos, marketing manager for Investly, and Emily Marchaletta, brand ambassador for Investly, who, in addition to providing an outline of how Investly works and what makes it perfect for new investors, discuss the co-op and internship opportunities offered by Investly, from business to software development. They also speak about the Investly Brand Ambassador Programme, a role for current students to promote the app on campus, connect with other students, and provide feedback to the Investly team. Iona and Emily are both excited and passionate about Investly, since it aligns with their own experiences and goals, and they encourage students to get involved, whether through the app, the c-op roles, or the brand ambassador programme.

    A day in the life of students across Fidelity Canada | Episode 79

    On today's episode, host Tamara Radocaj is joined by two of Fidelity Canada's co-op students, to take us through their day-to-day life at Fidelity. Nathalia Lewis, on a co-op from Toronto Metropolitan University, works on the talent acquisition team, where she supports the recruiting process, sources data, and manages the careers@fidelity email. Laura Nubarian is a finance student at Concordia University, and a part of the Transfer Agent Processing team at Fidelity's Montreal office, processing advisor requests and account openings. Both of them talk about the diverse opportunities, supportive team environment, and the ways in which Fidelity cultivates a focus on professional development, such as workshops on networking, presentation skills, career growth, and more.     On today’s episode, host Emily Anonuevo sits down with Product Research team members Maeghan Chandler and Paul Aulicino, both of whom are former Fidelity co-op students, to share their career journeys and insights into working in financial services.     Fidelity Clearing Canada, or FCC for short, is a major business unit within Fidelity Canada that provides clearing, custody, and trade execution services to the financial services industry. FCC works as an intermediary between buyers and sellers, processing and settling securities transactions, and safeguarding client assets. It’s also a great place for Fidelity co-op students to gain valuable experience within the financial services industry. On today’s episode, host Tamara Radocaj sits down with Ryan Muhammad, Director of Finance at FCC, and Courtney Johnson, Team Manager Operations at FCC, to discuss their career journeys within the organization, and share advice for students. Ryan talks about his career journey from accounting to corporate finance, highlighting the differences between the investment and clearing sides of the business, and Courtney shares her experience starting as a co-op student at Fidelity and ultimately progressing to a management role, sharing the support and career development opportunities she was able to benefit from at Fidelity.
