E181: Be A Better Leader: Get Better Results

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores what it takes to become a better leader in today's workplace. Leadership has changed. Today's workforce spans multiple generations, different working styles, remote and in-person environments, and rapidly evolving technology. Yet many leaders are still relying on old-school command-and-control approaches that no longer get the best from their people. She explains why leadership isn't one-size-fits-all and introduces the idea of creating a personal leadership owner's manual that helps your team understand how you communicate, what you expect, and how you operate. Dr. Jean also shares her Z to A Thinking method, which challenges leaders to define the outcome they want first and then work backward to determine the steps required to achieve it. From creating an environment where employees aren't afraid to make mistakes to understanding individual working styles through tools like Kolbe, CliftonStrengths, and DISC, Dr. Jean shows why great leadership begins with understanding yourself and learning how to meet your people where they are. She also tackles one of leadership's harder responsibilities: recognizing when someone is no longer in the right seat and having the courage to do what's right for both the individual and the organization. Better leadership isn't about having more control. It's about communicating clearly, setting expectations, creating accountability, and giving people what they need to succeed. Better leadership starts with understanding yourself, clearly communicating what you expect, and recognizing that different people need different things from you. The leader's job isn't simply to tell people what to do. It's to create the clarity, environment, and accountability that allow people to succeed. Take a few minutes and ask yourself: If my employees had an owner's manual for working with me, what would it say? Think about how you communicate, how you make decisions, what you expect, what frustrates you, and what your team needs to know to work successfully with you. Then ask the harder question: Am I leading my people based on what they need, or based on what works best for me? E180: The Yes Personality: How to Deal with Difficult People

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® continues her Dealing with Difficult People series with The Yes Person. What happens when someone says yes to everything, even when they can't realistically deliver? The Yes Person often has good intentions. They want to help, make people happy, and avoid disappointing others. But constantly saying yes can lead to overcommitment, missed deadlines, competing priorities, and frustration for everyone involved. Dr. Jean explores how leaders can recognize this behavior and respond without simply adding more pressure. She explains why understanding someone's communication style matters, how blending, redirecting, and backtracking can improve difficult conversations, and why curiosity is often more effective than confrontation. For leaders, the goal isn't to stop the Yes Person from being helpful. It's to help them become more realistic about their commitments, clarify priorities, and follow through on what they've agreed to do. A yes isn't valuable if the person can't actually deliver on it. Great leaders help people move from automatically agreeing to everything toward making thoughtful, realistic commitments they can actually keep. Think about the Yes People on your team, or whether you might be one yourself. Before saying yes to the next request, ask: What am I already committed to, where does this fit in my priorities, and can I realistically deliver what I'm promising? A thoughtful yes is much more valuable than an automatic one. Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E179: LMA to Get Better Results

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores LMA, an EOS® concept that stands for Lead, Manage, and Accountable, and shares a different way she's learned to use it inside growing organizations. What happens when you have the right person in an important role, but they're not ready to sit on the leadership team? Dr. Jean begins with a lesson from her own leadership experience. She realized she was successfully setting the vision for an employee and holding that person accountable, but she wasn't actually providing the day-to-day management the employee needed. That realization led to an important distinction: leading, managing, and holding someone accountable are three different responsibilities, and effective leadership requires all three. Dr. Jean also breaks down the difference between a traditional organizational chart and an EOS Accountability Chart. Your org chart shows who reports to whom. Your Accountability Chart focuses on the functions and responsibilities the organization needs to succeed. Then she shares a real-world example that challenged the traditional application of LMA. A client had an important leadership seat occupied by a strong manager who wasn't yet ready for the strategic demands of the leadership team. Rather than demoting the employee, changing the title, or restructuring reporting relationships, they had the Integrator LMA the seat. The result? Greater organization, less rework, increased productivity, and improved profitability. It's a powerful reminder that sometimes the solution isn't changing the person. It's changing how the seat is being led. You don't always have to change the person, their title, or their reporting structure to solve a leadership problem. Sometimes the missing piece is simply making sure someone is truly leading, managing, and holding the seat accountable. Look at your own Accountability Chart and ask: Who is actually LMAing each critical seat? If a department is struggling, don't immediately assume you have the wrong person. Determine whether that person is receiving the leadership, management, and accountability they need to succeed. E178: When You're Not Motivated: The Small Shift That Changes Everything

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen explores one of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs, business owners, and sales professionals face: staying motivated when you simply don't feel like doing the work. We've all been there. The phone calls feel harder. The to-do list feels longer. The motivation just isn't there. Inspired by conversations with a salesperson, her entrepreneurial son, and even her daughter's notification sounds, Dr. Jean examines how the things we hear, see, and experience every day influence our motivation. Drawing from examples that include Wayne Gretzky, Roger Federer, EOS®, Seth Godin, and her Caveman Brain® framework, Dr. Jean shares practical strategies for overcoming the inevitable dips that every entrepreneur experiences. Her message is simple: You don't have to conquer the entire mountain today. You just have to take one more step. Whether that's one more phone call, one more email, or one more conversation, progress often begins with a single action. Motivation isn't something you wait for. It's something you create through action. One more phone call. One more step. One more opportunity. Those small actions create momentum, and momentum creates results. The next time you don't feel motivated, ask yourself: What's one small step I can take right now? Then do it. One phone call. One email. One task. Because the shot you don't take is always the one you miss. Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E177: Joe Young: The Advisor You're Forgetting Could Cost You Millions

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® sits down with insurance expert Joe Young, Director, Private Client Services with One Insurance Services for a conversation that will change how you think about insurance, risk, and protecting everything you've worked so hard to build. Most business owners view insurance as a line item expense. Joe argues that mindset is exactly backwards. Your insurance professional should be sitting at the same table as your CPA, attorney, banker, and financial advisor. Why? Because every major financial decision you make impacts your risk profile, and every risk decision impacts your financial future. Joe shares real-world stories about homeowners, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals who unknowingly exposed themselves to significant financial risk because their advisory team wasn't working together. From umbrella policies and cyber threats to LLC structures and estate planning mistakes, this episode is packed with practical insights that every business owner needs to hear. If you've never had your professional advisors sitting around the same table, this conversation may be one of the most valuable you've heard all year. E176: The Think They Know-It-All: How to Deal with Difficult People

In Part 5 of Dr. Jean's Dealing with Difficult People series, Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores one of the most common workplace personalities: The Think They Know-It-All. Unlike the true Know-It-All, this personality isn't driven by deep expertise. Instead, they're often seeking attention, validation, or appreciation. Their confidence can make it difficult for teams to evaluate ideas objectively, creating frustration and unnecessary conflict. Drawing on her Caveman Brain® framework and years of leadership coaching, Dr. Jean explains why these personalities develop, how to recognize their communication patterns, and why embarrassing them almost always backfires. You'll learn practical techniques for redirecting conversations, asking better questions, and encouraging stronger thinking without creating defensiveness. Dr. Jean also revisits the Platinum Rule, showing leaders why understanding how others want to be treated is often the key to reducing conflict and building stronger relationships. Most difficult personalities aren't trying to create conflict. They're trying to meet a need. When you understand what's driving the behavior and respond with curiosity instead of confrontation, you create opportunities for better communication and stronger leadership. Think about someone in your life who always seems to have an opinion. Before dismissing them, ask yourself: What are they really looking for? How can I ask better questions? How can I redirect the conversation without creating conflict? Small changes in your approach can dramatically change the interaction. E175: The Know-It-All: How to Deal With Difficult People

In Part 4 of Dr. Jean's 10-part "Dealing with Difficult People" series, Dr. Jean tackles one of the most challenging personalities in business: The Know-It-All. Whether they're true experts with deep technical knowledge or simply believe they have all the answers, Know-It-Alls can make collaboration difficult if you don't understand how they're wired. Drawing on more than 20 years of coaching and leadership experience, Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explains how Caveman Brain®, life experiences, and personal "baggage" influence Know-It-All behavior. She also shares practical communication strategies that help leaders build trust instead of creating unnecessary conflict. You'll learn why trying to out-argue a Know-It-All almost never works, how blending, redirecting, and backtracking can shift conversations, and why curiosity is one of the most powerful leadership tools you can develop. Instead of seeing the Know-It-All as an obstacle, Dr. Jean challenges listeners to recognize the value they bring while adapting their own communication style to create better outcomes. You don't have to beat the Know-It-All. You simply have to communicate differently. When you prepare well, ask thoughtful questions, and lead with curiosity instead of competition, you'll often discover that the conversation becomes collaborative instead of confrontational. Think about the Know-It-All in your life. Before your next conversation, prepare your key points, practice saying them out loud, and focus on asking questions instead of proving you're right. Small changes in your communication can completely change the outcome. Go Get Results!!  Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E174: The Grenade Personality: How to Deal with Difficult People

In Part 3 of Dr. Jean's 10-part "Dealing with Difficult People" series, Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores one of the most emotional personalities you'll encounter: The Grenade. Unlike the Tank or the Sniper, the Grenade often appears calm until frustration builds to a breaking point. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, they erupt with an emotional outburst. Drawing on more than 20 years of coaching and leadership experience, Dr. Jean explains why this behavior happens through the lens of Caveman Brain® and shares practical strategies for de-escalating emotionally charged situations. You'll learn why matching emotion with emotion only fuels the conflict, how to calmly regain the person's attention, and why lowering your voice can be more powerful than raising it. Dr. Jean also introduces three powerful communication techniques: blending, redirecting, and backtracking, helping leaders build rapport, reduce resistance, and create more productive conversations. Whether you're leading a team, managing clients, or navigating difficult personal relationships, this episode provides practical tools to help you respond with confidence instead of reacting emotionally. When someone explodes emotionally, your job isn't to win the argument. Your job is to lower the emotional temperature, understand what they're really trying to communicate, and guide the conversation back toward a productive outcome. E173: Breakdown for Breakthrough: The Leadership Mindset That Changes Everything

Dr. Jean revisits one of her favorite leadership concepts: Breakdown for Breakthrough. Every leader experiences setbacks, conflict, and disappointment. The question isn't whether breakdowns will happen. The question is what you'll do next. Dr. Jean explains how many people become trapped in the "breakdown" by replaying the story, seeking validation, and focusing on everything that went wrong. While it may feel good in the moment, it rarely leads to resolution. Instead, she encourages leaders to shift their attention toward the breakthrough by asking a different set of questions: What outcome do I want? What outcome does the other person want? How can we move forward together? Drawing on concepts from Caveman Brain, EOS®, and her years of executive coaching, Dr. Jean shares a practical framework for replacing blame with curiosity, conflict with collaboration, and frustration with forward progress. Whether you're navigating challenges in business, leadership, or personal relationships, this episode will help you spend less time reliving the problem and more time creating the solution. Every breakdown presents an opportunity for a breakthrough. The moment you stop replaying the story and start focusing on the outcome, you create space for resolution, learning, and growth. The next time something doesn't go your way, pause before telling the story again. Go Get Results!  Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E172: The Sniper Personality: How to Deal With Difficult People

In Part 2 of Dr. Jean's 10-part "Dealing with Difficult People" series, she introduces one of the most frustrating personalities you'll encounter in leadership: The Sniper. Unlike the Tank, who confronts you directly, the Sniper attacks from the sidelines through sarcasm, passive-aggressive comments, eye rolls, gossip, and subtle public humiliation. Their goal is to control the situation without taking ownership of their behavior. Drawing on over 20 years of coaching and leadership experience, Dr. Jean explains why Snipers behave this way through the lens of Caveman Brain® and teaches practical techniques to stop the behavior before it escalates. You'll learn how to recognize the Sniper's tactics, ask questions that expose their true intent, redirect conversations toward productive outcomes, and even distinguish between a true Sniper and a "Friendly Sniper." Whether you're leading a team, managing clients, or navigating difficult relationships, this episode gives you actionable strategies for handling hidden conflict with confidence and composure. Snipers succeed when they keep you reacting emotionally. The moment you become curious instead of defensive, ask thoughtful questions, and bring the behavior into the open, you shift the conversation from conflict to resolution. Think about someone in your life who tends to communicate through sarcasm, indirect criticism, or gossip. The next time it happens, pause, breathe, and ask: "When you say that, what are you really trying to say?" Approaching the conversation with curiosity instead of defensiveness may completely change the outcome. E171: The Tank Personality: How to Deal with Difficult People

In this first episode of a special 10-part series, Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores one of the most challenging aspects of leadership: dealing with difficult people. Drawing from one of the very first leadership courses she developed more than 20 years ago, Dr. Jean introduces the framework she still uses today to help leaders understand difficult personalities through the lens of Caveman Brain®. Before diving into the individual personality types, she explains how people typically move outside their normal comfort zone into one of four behavioral styles: Task-focused and aggressive Task-focused and passive People-focused and passive People-focused and aggressive Understanding a person's intent is the first step toward responding effectively instead of reacting emotionally. The first personality in the series is The Tank. Tanks are direct, controlling, and often intimidating. While their behavior can feel personal, Dr. Jean explains that their actions are usually driven by a desire to regain control, not by a desire to attack you personally. You'll learn practical techniques for staying calm, maintaining your confidence, earning respect, and redirecting difficult conversations toward productive outcomes. Whether your "Tank" is a client, coworker, employee, manager, or family member, these tools can help you navigate conflict with greater confidence and composure. Most difficult behavior isn't about you. It's about someone else's attempt to regain control, reduce uncertainty, or protect themselves. When you stop taking the behavior personally and begin diagnosing the person's intent, you can respond in ways that build respect instead of creating more conflict. Think about the "Tank" in your own life. The next time they become aggressive or confrontational, remember: Hold your ground. Stay calm. Breathe. Focus on the outcome. Redirect the conversation toward a solution. Then come back next week as Dr. Jean introduces the next difficult personality type in the series. E170: The Smartest Person in the Room Asks the Best Questions

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® introduces Smart Person Syndrome®, the deeply ingrained need to prove that you are the smartest person in the room. From childhood through formal education, many of us are rewarded for answering questions quickly and correctly. But what happens when that conditioning follows us into leadership? Dr. Jean explains how leaders, managers, and business developers often rush to provide answers, tell long stories, and instruct others because they believe that demonstrating their expertise makes them more effective. In reality, constantly supplying the answers can prevent employees from thinking critically, limit collaboration, and keep leaders trapped in the role of solving every problem themselves. The smartest person in the room is not necessarily the person with the fastest answer. It is often the person who asks the question that causes everyone else to think differently. Dr. Jean shares a simple framework for replacing answers with curiosity, including three questions she uses in leadership, coaching, strategy, and new business development conversations. She also explains how to practice asking better questions through the Question Game, why leaders should remove "why" from their vocabulary, and how curiosity can create stronger teams, better conversations, and more meaningful results. Dr. Jean recommends keeping three questions ready: Help me understand. What makes you say that? What outcome are you looking to achieve? These questions can be combined, adapted, and used throughout leadership, coaching, strategy, and client conversations. Pay attention to your conversations this week. When someone asks you a question, resist the urge to immediately provide the answer. Acknowledge what they said, pause, and ask: "What outcome are you looking to achieve?" Then notice how the quality of the conversation changes. Go Get Results!  Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E169: The Biggest Growth Mistake Business Owners Make

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® shares the biggest mistake she sees business owners and leadership teams make every single week: staying incredibly busy while doing very little that actually creates business growth. Many leaders spend their days answering emails, solving client problems, attending meetings, and putting out fires. While those tasks may feel productive, they often don't move the business forward. Dr. Jean explains how Caveman Brain® tricks us into believing that checking items off our to-do list equals progress, when in reality it may simply be keeping us stuck in a cycle of reaction instead of growth. Using real coaching stories, she explores why relationship-based business development cannot be fully automated, the importance of working on your business instead of just in it, and how a simple time audit can completely change the way you lead. She also challenges leaders to look at their calendars with fresh eyes because, as she says, your calendar tells the truth. If your schedule doesn't prioritize growth, your business probably won't either. This episode is a powerful reminder that growth doesn't happen by accident. It happens because leaders intentionally create time for it. Go Get Results!  Contact Dr. Jean here: Website: www.gettingresultswithdrjean.com Email: [email protected]

E168: Marketing vs. Business Development: The Mistake That's Costing You Growth

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® clears up one of the biggest misconceptions in business growth: marketing and new business development are not the same thing. Many business owners invest heavily in marketing, expecting it to generate revenue on its own. But while marketing builds awareness, credibility, and interest, it doesn't close clients. Dr. Jean explains the critical distinction between marketing, which attracts potential clients, and new business development, which guides those potential clients through a structured process that turns them into paying clients. She also shares the Seven Stages of New Business Development, the proven framework she teaches clients to move people from an introduction to a signed agreement and payment. If your marketing is generating attention but not enough revenue, this episode will help you identify where your process is breaking down and what to do about it. Marketing gets you noticed. New business development gets you clients. The businesses that grow consistently understand the difference and have a repeatable process for converting attention into revenue. E167: Choose Your Attitude, Change Your Results

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores one of the most powerful forces affecting your business, your relationships, and your overall happiness: your attitude. Many people believe attitude is simply a personality trait. Dr. Jean disagrees. She argues that attitude is a choice we make every day, often without realizing it. Through the lens of Caveman Brain®, she explains how our minds naturally drift toward negativity, frustration, judgment, and disappointment, and why learning to interrupt those patterns can dramatically improve our results. Using stories from coaching clients, personal experiences, leadership lessons, and even a few golf swings, Dr. Jean demonstrates how changing your perspective can transform the way you experience challenges, relationships, and opportunities. Whether you're dealing with a difficult business partner, a frustrating employee, a challenging client, or simply your own internal dialogue, this episode will help you recognize the attitudes that are serving you and the ones that are holding you back. E166: DAT:The Most Important Business Development Question You're Not Asking

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® reveals one of the simplest yet most overlooked tools in business development: asking for a date and time. It sounds simple, but this one step is often the difference between a promising conversation and a lost opportunity. Many professionals leave meetings feeling positive, assuming the client will follow up when they're ready. Unfortunately, that's not how most buying decisions work. People get busy, priorities shift, and opportunities quietly disappear. Dr. Jean explains why asking for a follow-up date and time is a critical part of being a facilitator buyer, someone who helps clients move confidently through the decision-making process instead of leaving them to figure it out alone. Using real coaching examples, she walks through practical ways to ask for the next meeting, handle objections, and avoid falling into the dreaded "chase" that so many business developers experience. If you're tired of hearing, "I'll get back to you," only to never hear from the prospect again, this episode is for you. E165: Why The Best Leaders Ask For Help

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores a question that has puzzled her for years: Why do people refuse help, even when they need it? After spending decades helping business owners, executives, and leadership teams achieve better results, Dr. Jean has noticed a surprising pattern. Sometimes the people who need help the most are the quickest to say no. Why? Is it ego? Pride? Fear? A belief that asking for help means weakness? Dr. Jean examines the role of Caveman Brain® in our resistance to accepting support and challenges the idea that successful people achieve greatness entirely on their own. Drawing from examples in business, sports, and entrepreneurship, she explains why every elite performer relies on coaches, mentors, advisors, and supporters along the way. She also shares stories of business owners who declined help and paid a much higher price than they realized. If you've ever struggled to ask for help, receive guidance, or invest in your own growth, this episode may reveal what's really holding you back. E164: The Leadership Responsibility No One Wants to Talk About

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® delivers a direct message to business owners, founders, visionaries, and leaders who claim they hate business development: it's time to change your mindset. Many business owners believe they can build a successful company while avoiding sales, networking, and relationship building. The reality is that if you're leading a business, business development is part of the job. Dr. Jean shares a conversation with a former pharmacist turned entrepreneur who learned to overcome his discomfort with business development and explains why so many leaders struggle with it in the first place. You'll learn why business development doesn't have to feel pushy, salesy, or aggressive, and how identifying your ideal client can completely transform your experience with growth and networking. Dr. Jean also introduces the concept of finding your "Mimi" clients, the people you genuinely enjoy serving, and explains how focusing on those relationships makes business development far more enjoyable and effective. If you've ever said, "I hate sales" or "I'm not good at networking," this episode will challenge you to think differently. Think about your favorite client. What makes them such a great fit? Why did they hire you? What problem were they trying to solve? Once you understand that, make it your mission to find more people just like them. E163: What Nearly Cost Me Three-Quarters of My Company

In this episode of Getting Results with Dr. Jean, Dr. Jean shares one of the most personal business lessons of her career and why every organization must treat business development as a company-wide responsibility. Too many professional service firms rely on one or two rainmakers to bring in all the business while everyone else focuses on technical work. It feels safe until something changes. Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® shares the story of what happened when her own company lost nearly three-quarters of its business through client acquisitions, mergers, and graduations. What followed was a difficult but transformational journey that required rebuilding the company from the ground up through disciplined business development. This episode is a powerful reminder that no business is immune to change. Whether you're a lawyer, accountant, financial advisor, consultant, or business owner, the organizations that survive and thrive are the ones that build business development into their culture, not just into one person's job description. If you're waiting until business slows down to focus on growth, you're already behind. Take an honest look at your organization. If your top business developer disappeared tomorrow, what would happen? Would your company continue to grow, or would growth stop overnight? E162: From Hello to Client: Why Every Word Matters in Business Development

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® shares one of the most important lessons in business development: every word matters. The conversation was inspired by a successful former client who reflected on a key takeaway from Dr. Jean's business development program: the words you choose throughout the sales process can determine whether someone becomes a client or walks away. Many professionals, especially lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, and consultants, rely too heavily on technical expertise when speaking with prospects. The problem? Most buying decisions are not made logically. They're made emotionally. Dr. Jean explains why prospects are looking for trust, confidence, and connection long before they care about technical details. She also shares why scripting conversations, rehearsing key questions, and intentionally choosing your language can dramatically improve your business development results. E161: You're Either Growing or Dying: The Leadership Shift Ops Teams Must Make

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® tackles a leadership challenge many growing businesses quietly struggle with: when operations leaders unintentionally become the barrier to growth. As companies scale, tension often develops between the visionary pushing for expansion and the operations leader focused on stability, process, and control. While both perspectives are valuable, growth stalls when fear, resistance, or comfort with the status quo prevents the organization from evolving. Dr. Jean shares real-world examples of companies facing this exact challenge and explains why some operations leaders resist growth, whether it is fear of change, uncertainty about their future role, or discomfort with losing control. This episode is a direct conversation for: Visionaries frustrated by stalled momentum Operations leaders feeling overwhelmed by growth Leadership teams struggling with alignment Dr. Jean also explores practical solutions, including coaching, EOS implementation, role evolution, and helping leaders move from their zone of excellence into their zone of genius. E160: Stop Lamenting: How Great Leaders Move From Complaining to Solving

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® tackles a common leadership trap she calls leadership lamenting: the habit of complaining, judging, and focusing on problems instead of solutions. As a coach to business owners, managing partners, and executive leaders, Dr. Jean sees it all the time. Leaders spend valuable time venting about employees, partners, challenges, and circumstances, but rarely realize how much energy and momentum they lose in the process. Complaining may feel good in the moment, but it does not grow the business. Dr. Jean explains how this behavior is rooted in Caveman Brain®, our hardwired survival instincts that constantly judge threats and reinforce negativity. Then she shares practical methods to break the cycle and train your brain to shift from breakdown thinking to breakthrough thinking. This episode is a masterclass in emotional discipline, critical thinking, and leadership maturity. E159: The Caveman Brain Mistake That Slows Down Business Decisions

Dr. Jean. The Results Queen® shares a real-world Caveman Brain® lesson that happened during a recent conversation with a potential client. Many organizations believe they need multiple bids, endless comparisons, and long decision processes before hiring a consultant or advisor. But often, those extra steps are driven by something deeper: Caveman Brain®.Fear of making the wrong decision can lead leaders to overanalyze, delay action, and waste valuable time. Dr. Jean explains how this instinct shows up in new business development, why it can slow growth, and how both buyers and sellers can recognize when caveman brain is getting in the way. She also introduces a powerful strategy she calls "the fourth spot," which can dramatically change how consultants and advisors position themselves during competitive bid processes. Along the way, Dr. Jean shares lessons about hiring the right experts, building trust with clients, and why nothing in business is truly a mistake if you learn from it and move forward. If you are a consultant, coach, or professional services leader, this episode will challenge how you think about selling, hiring, and growing your business. Go Get Results!! E158: Decision Velocity: The Hidden KPI That Drives Growth

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® explores a powerful idea from a recent Harvard Business Review article titled Are Legacy Metrics Derailing Your Transformation? and explains why many organizations are still measuring the wrong things. We are operating in a time of rapid transformation driven by AI, digital innovation, and constant change. Yet many companies still rely on traditional KPIs designed for stability rather than growth. The result? Leaders think they are measuring performance, but they are actually missing the signals that drive transformation. Dr. Jean breaks down the key difference between traditional operational metrics and future-focused project metrics, and explains why organizations must rethink how they evaluate progress. Rather than focusing on activity, utilization, or cost control alone, modern organizations must measure impact, strategic alignment, and decision speed. If your company wants predictable growth, it may be time to stop measuring what is easy and start measuring what actually drives results. Go Get Results!! E156: Metrics Matter March: The Numbers That Actually Drive Results

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® dives into why metrics matter more than ever for growing organizations. Dr. Jean explains how modern businesses must focus on metrics that actually move the organization forward. In this episode, Dr. Jean shares practical examples from her coaching clients and explains how concepts from EOS® scorecards, Harvard Business Review insights, and strategic planning can help leaders measure what truly matters. E155: Sacred Cows in Your Company: When Employees Don't Want the Job

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® dives into one of the most overlooked challenges in leadership: employees who don't want their job. Using the EOS® concept of GWC (Get it, Want it, Capacity to do it), Dr. Jean explains why the "W" for Want it is the most critical and often the hardest problem for leaders to address. While leaders can train someone to get it and adjust workloads to create capacity, no leader can force someone to want their role. Dr. Jean explores why employees sometimes lose the desire for their seat, how organizations unintentionally "kill employees along the way," and what leaders must do when someone no longer wants the job. You will also learn how sacred cows form in organizations, why avoiding the issue damages culture and growth, and how to lovingly help employees move on when the role is no longer the right fit. If you want stronger alignment, healthier teams, and right people in the right seats moving in the right direction, this episode will challenge you to lead with clarity and courage. Go Get Results!!
