They Predicted My Breaking Point. Here's What Happened
At fourteen, doctors and well-meaning adults told Dwight Heck what his body would never let him do. Decades later, an injured Achilles tendon couldn't stop him from hiking Zion's Narrows. In this solo episode, Dwight tells a story he has never shared on the podcast before: severe, uncontrolled asthma as a child, a scoliosis diagnosis at 13, and choosing a caged steel body brace over spinal surgery at 14, worn twenty-three hours a day for almost three years. He explains why tenacity is a superpower, how a paper route at 12 proved it, and why an injury three weeks before a planned hike through The Narrows in Zion National Park was never going to stop him from going. This is Part 1 of a new three-part solo arc, Not by Accident: Three Decisions. In this episode you'll hear:✅ Why severe asthma before rescue inhalers existed shaped a childhood✅ How a scoliosis diagnosis at 13 led to a three-year choice between surgery and a brace✅ What wearing a caged body brace twenty-three hours a day actually involved✅ Why well-meaning caution from adults can do as much damage as a diagnosis✅ How a paper route at 12 became proof that tenacity is a superpower✅ Why an injured Achilles tendon didn't stop a hike through Zion's Narrows✅ What to do with your own version of a ceiling someone else handed youFull show notes: [EPISODE URL ON GIVEAHECK.COM, PENDING PUBLISH]Connect with Dwight HeckGive A Heck Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast Page: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckContact / Be a Guest: https://giveaheck.com/contact-us/Enjoyed this episode? She Froze in Her Interview: Janylène Turcotte on the Subconscious Mind
Your subconscious mind is running your decisions, and most people have no idea. Janylène Turcotte spent 25 years as a senior HR executive, the last eight as National Talent Director at Deloitte. She coached hundreds of people through high-stakes interviews. Then her corporate career ended on someone else’s terms, and three days later she sat down for a VP interview at a bank and could not answer a single question. That frozen moment cracked open the gap between knowing and doing, and launched her into a second career as a clinical hypnotherapist trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy under Marisa Peer. JT has now completed over 1,500 sessions with entrepreneurs and senior leaders. Her method, Peel Back, Rewire, Rise, is built on the conviction that you cannot rewire what you have not first peeled back. The Peel Back step, accessing the unconscious stories driving your behaviour, is the step most coaches skip. What you will learn:Why knowing is not the same as doing and what actually lives in the gapWhat a frozen interview reveals about the unconscious beliefs running your lifeHow nine years of sobriety taught JT more about the mind than any certificationWhy the Peel Back step is the one most coaches skip and why that mattersWhy she lost more friends when she stopped fawning than when she stopped drinkingThe two fears that block most transformations: fear of being alone and fear of judgementConnect with Janylène Turcotte (JT):Website: https://www.hypnocoach.caPodcast: https://www.hypnocoach.ca/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzF3eyJFsJgDIIlE5Ow-D1gLinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/janyleneInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/hypnocoach_janylene_aka_jt/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/janylene.turcotte.2025/Book a free 30-minute strategy call: https://www.hypnocoach.ca/workwithmeConnect with Dwight Heck:Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast Page: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckWork With Me / Be a Guest: https://www.giveaheck.com/work-with-me

300 Conversations Later, Dwight Heck on Regret, Money and Purpose
For episode 300, Dwight Heck steps out of the guest chair for the first time to tell the whole story himself. He takes listeners back to Camrose, Alberta, where he grew up with no lessons about money, through raising five kids alone as a single dad, and into the 2002 decision that turned quiet desperation into a 24-year career in financial services. He reflects on five years of guests who shaped the show, from a Holocaust survivor to people who worked alongside Robin Williams, and shares the three hardest lessons 300 conversations have taught him about money: most people are living somebody else’s financial plan, money problems are usually emotional ones wearing a financial costume, and regret is the most expensive thing anyone will ever buy. What you will learn:Why most people are living somebody else’s financial planWhat money monsters are and why naming them mattersWhy regret is the most expensive thing you will ever buyHow a 2001 health scare led Dwight into financial servicesConnect with Dwight Heck:Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast Page: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckWork With Me / Be a Guest: https://www.giveaheck.com/work-with-me

Find Your Purpose Before AI Finds Your Job, Derek Rydall on Human Potential
What does AI actually threaten to take from you, and what does it have no power to touch? Derek Rydall returns for Part 2 with the answer hidden inside your core wound, your lived experience, and the life code that no algorithm can ever replicate.Derek Rydall has lost a son, a fortune, a marriage, and his sense of self more than once, and came back each time with more clarity, not less. In this episode, he makes the full case for why AI is not simply a technology story. It is a meaning and identity crisis unlike anything humanity has faced before. He breaks down why the very disruption you fear may be the initiation you were made for, explains the core wound as the gateway to your greatest purpose, and shares what writing A Whole New Human truly cost him on a soul level.Dwight opens with a deeply personal reflection on grief and the perennial plant that dies in the fall and returns stronger in spring. Together they explore service as the master pattern of awakening, the monastery story, and why the goal you are not yet capable of achieving is exactly the right goal. What you will learn in this episode:Why the real danger of AI is not job loss but the loss of human meaning and purposeWhat your life code is and why AI can never replicate itHow the core wound functions as a core initiation into your truest purposeWhy self-improvement is an oxymoron and what to do insteadWhat Derek's attempt to live as a monk revealed about who he was meant to beWhy the goal you are not yet capable of achieving is the right goalWhat writing A Whole New Human cracked open that Derek did not expectConnect with Derek Rydall:Website: https://derekrydall.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DerekRydall-YourLegendaryLifeLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/derekrydallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DerekRydall/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drydall/Twitter / X: https://x.com/derekrydallConnect with Dwight Heck and the Give A Heck Podcast:Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast Page: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckWork With Me / Be a Guest: https://www.giveaheck.com/work-with-me

You Are Not Broken, You Are Unheard, with Dr. Fred Moss
YOU ARE NOT BROKEN, YOU ARE UNHEARD, WITH DR. FRED MOSSWhat if healing without a diagnosis is not just possible, but the most natural thing in the world?Dr. Fred Moss spent more than four decades inside the mental health system as a board-certified psychiatrist, treating over 30,000 patients. Then he asked a different question: not what is wrong with this person, but what actually heals a human being. His answer challenges almost everything the mental health system is built on. The real problem is not a chemical imbalance. It is not a diagnosis. It is disconnection. When someone is not being heard, not being seen for who they truly are, no medication in the world addresses that. But genuine human connection does. Every single time.In 2006, Dr. Moss began taking low-risk patients off their medications with their permission. Almost all of them healed profoundly, often losing the very diagnosis that had justified the medication in the first place. That experience changed everything. In this conversation, you will hear:- Why healing without medication is possible for far more people than the system admits- How psychiatric diagnosis is fundamentally different from every other medical field- What Dr. Moss discovered when he took patients off their medications- Why men block emotional expression rather than feel things more deeply- What healthy reinvention looks like when AI is reshaping entire industries- Why gratitude practiced out loud every morning changes everythingDr. Moss is the author of Creative Eight: Healing Through Creativity and Self-Expression, Find Your True Voice, and his forthcoming memoir Welcome to Humanity: A Psychiatrist's Case Against the Mental Health System, arriving July 2026. He is the creator of the Welcome to Humanity movement and is known to many simply as the indoctor.CONNECT WITH DR. How to Build Income That Actually Lasts, with Mark Kollar
What is the difference between having money saved and actually having income you can depend on in retirement? For most people, nobody has ever answered that question clearly.Mark Kollar has spent 35 years answering it. He started his career on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade watching first-hand how markets can be manipulated and how quickly a lifetime of savings can disappear when someone does not know what they do not know. The experience that drove all of it started much earlier, in second grade, when he watched bad advice, failed estate planning, and a devastating health event strip his father of everything he had built. In this episode, Mark and Dwight cover:- Why accumulation and income distribution are completely different retirement disciplines- The red money versus green money framework and how to think about risk at different life stages- The four tax baskets and why how you draw down your savings is as important as how much you saved- Black swan events, excess fees, ego, and the emotional decisions that quietly derail well-funded retirements- What a fiduciary standard means versus a suitability standard, and why it matters who you choose- Why the wealthiest clients Mark works with all share one habit: multiple advisorsMark is the owner of Kollar Wealth Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm, a certified senior advisor, a certified estate planning professional, and the author of The Retirement Navigator. Small Town Kid, Big Life | Jim Tracy on Building Men of Character
Jim Tracy grew up as the sixth of eight kids in rural South Dakota, where thirteen people waited at the dinner table until his father came home, and summers meant fishing and hunting at a cabin with no running water. He became a CEO, jet pilot, Wireless History Foundation Hall of Fame inductee, and the author of the Amazon number one bestselling book Building Men: Character Lessons from Influencers. Not because of advantages. Because of the people who poured into him and refused to let him quit.In this conversation with Dwight Heck, Jim traces the full arc of a life built on character. From a grandfather who took chickens as payment during the Depression, to starting a telecom company from a garage with his son. Burning through his entire 401k on the first bid, to learning to fly jets at 62. To top it all, he wrote a book where every chapter is named after a person rather than a principle.IN THIS EPISODE:✅ How rural roots and a grandfather's unwavering character built the foundation of everything✅ How Jim started Legacy Telecommunications in a garage and burned his 401k on the first bid✅ What the Culture Revival Blueprint is and why every business needs one✅ Why handwritten birthday cards were the most important thing Jim did as a CEO✅ What it took to learn to fly jets at 62✅ How tenacity is a superpower that only comes from muscle memory✅ What building men of character actually requiresWATCH ON YOUTUBE:https://youtu.be/858oP35jTyoCONNECT WITH JIM TRACY:Website: https://thegrampion.com/Website: https://thejimtracy.com/YouTube: https://youtube.com/@jimtracygrampionLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/jim-tracy-istowerjim/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheGrampionInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/towerjim/Twitter / X: https://x.com/TowerjimSpeaking: https://www.espeakers.com/marketplace/profile/48319/jim-tracyCONNECT WITH DWIGHT HECK:Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckBe a Guest: https://www.giveaheck.com/work-with-meRATE THE SHOW:https://ratethispodcast.com/giveaheckGive A Heck | Helping People Live Life on Purpose and Not by Accident

STOP FIXING YOURSELF | Derek Rydall and the Law of Emergence
Most people spend their entire lives trying to fix, change, and improve themselves into something better. Derek Rydall nearly died before he discovered the flaw in that approach. Everything you are looking for is already inside you. The only question is whether you are willing to let it emerge. In this first of two conversations, Dwight Heck and bestselling author Derek Rydall explore the Law of Emergence, the principle behind Derek's work and his case for why the Law of Attraction, as most people practice it is built on the wrong foundation entirely. Derek survived a near-death experience in a coral reef off Jamaica, lost his son, had his fortune stolen, and came through all of it more alive than before.Part 2 is coming soon and goes deep into Derek's new book A Whole New Human: 10 Ways We Must Evolve to Survive and Thrive in the AI Age, published February 2025.IN THIS EPISODE:✅ What the Law of Emergence is and how it differs from the Law of Attraction✅ Why trying to fix and improve yourself may be keeping you stuck✅ How a near-death experience became the turning point of Derek's life✅ What the acorn teaches us about human potential and purpose✅ Why painful conditions may be activating what was always inside you✅ How losing his son put a fire in Derek that changed everything he teaches✅ A preview of A Whole New Human and the identity crisis of the AI ageWATCH ON YOUTUBE:YOUTUBE WATCHCONNECT WITH DEREK RYDALL:Website: https://derekrydall.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DerekRydall-YourLegendaryLifeLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/derekrydallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DerekRydall/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drydall/Twitter / X: https://x.com/derekrydallCONNECT WITH DWIGHT HECK:Website: https://www.giveaheck.comPodcast: https://www.giveaheck.com/podcastYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@giveaheckFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwight.heckInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/give.a.heckLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@giveaheckTwitter / X: https://twitter.com/give_a_heckBe a Guest: https://www.giveaheck.com/work-with-meRATE THE SHOW:https://ratethispodcast.com/giveaheckGive A Heck | Helping People Live Life on Purpose and Not by Accident

Are you drifting through life without realizing it? In thissolo episode, I, Dwight Heck, break down how life drift quietly steals direction in your finances, career, relationships, health, and purpose, and I share the four-step clarity process to stop drifting and start livingintentionally.🧭 Episode OverviewHave you ever felt busy but not fulfilled, stable but notaligned, or successful yet unsettled? After more than 24 years working with individuals andfamilies through financial planning, life transitions, and major personaldecisions, I have observed a troubling pattern. Most people do not destroytheir lives with one catastrophic decision. They drift. This episode unfolds across eight focused sections thatexpose how drift operates in your life, including the five core areas where life drift most commonly takes hold.🔎 What You Will LearnAbout Drifting Through Life• Why drifting through life feels responsible until optionsquietly disappear• The five predictable areas where life drift takes hold• How being busy can mask misalignment• Why absence of crisis does not equal presence of purpose• The compounding cost of delayed decisions• The four-step clarity framework to stop drifting• Why stewardship requires honest examination⚠️ The Five Core Areas Where LifeDrift Takes HoldWhile this episode unfolds across eight sections, fivespecific areas consistently reveal where life drift quietly steals direction.💰 Financial DriftOperating without a written plan. Income grows. Expensesgrow. Direction remains undefined. Compound growth rewards early intentionwhile delay quietly removes options.🧑💼 Career DriftChoosing security over purpose year after year instead ofbuilding alignment.❤️ Relationship DriftLetting connection become assumption. Communication becomes logistical instead of meaningful.🏥 Health DriftPostponing self-care until “later.” Later eventually sends abill.🎯 Purpose DriftLiving reactively instead of intentionally. Avoiding thequestion: Why am I doing this?⏳ The Real Cost of DriftingThrough LifeThe deepest regret is rarely money.“I wish I had started sooner.”“I thought I had more time.”Money can sometimes recover.Time rarely does.Small intentional decisions compound. So do smallavoidances.❓ The Question Most People AvoidWhat decision have you been delaying?Drift survives on delay.Absence of crisis does not equal alignment.🙏 Stewardship and ResponsibilityWe are called to steward our finances, time, health, andrelationships.Faith requires intentional action. You cannot steward what you refuse to examine honestly.🌐 Connect with DwightHeckWebsite: https://giveaheck.comYouTube: https://youtube.com/@giveaheckLinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150Instagram: https://instagram.com/give.a.heckFacebook: https://facebook.com/dwight.heckThreads: https://threads.net/@give.a.heckTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@giveaheck

Trust But Verify: How Blind Trust Cost Me Tens of Thousands in Business
Episode OverviewHave you ever trusted a referral or hired an “expert,” only to discover they lacked the competence to deliver real results? In this personal solo episode of the Give A Heck Podcast, I reveal the hard truth behind blind trust, guru culture, and the costly consequences of assuming expertise without verification. After losing tens of thousands of dollars and watching my business stall, I was forced to confront the reality of misplaced trust. Through artificial intelligence, faith, and personal accountability, I uncovered critical gaps and began rebuilding from a place of clarity and ownership. This episode is a wake‑up call for entrepreneurs, coaches, and professionals who want to protect their business, finances, and future from preventable mistakes. What You Will Learn• Why blind trust in referrals and consultants leads to financial loss• How confidence can disguise incompetence• The hidden dangers of guru culture and online programs• How AI exposed business gaps and revealed the truth• Why accountability is essential for rebuilding momentum• How to properly verify expertise before hiring anyone• The emotional, financial, and spiritual impact of misplaced trustHow Blind Trust Created Loss and StagnationTrust has always been a core value in my life and business. I believed referrals equaled credibility. That belief became one of the most expensive lessons of my career.Over six years, I hired referred “experts” who lacked the competence to deliver meaningful results. The outcome: financial loss, stalled growth, and emotional exhaustion. Trust without verification created vulnerability. The Referral Trap and Illusion of ExpertiseReferrals often feel like validation, but they’re frequently based on assumptions—not proven results. Confidence, charisma, and reputation can mask a lack of real skill. Verification must replace blind trust. How the Pandemic Increased VulnerabilityDuring the pandemic, urgency and emotional stress replaced proper due diligence. Investments in consultants and marketing experts failed to deliver, costing tens of thousands and delaying progress. This became a turning point that forced a complete reevaluation. How AI Helped Reveal the TruthArtificial intelligence became a powerful tool for uncovering what had been overlooked. By analyzing my systems, digital presence, and strategy, AI exposed gaps no consultant had ever addressed. This clarity became the foundation for rebuilding with ownership and accountability.Personal Accountability and Reclaiming ControlI realized no one would ever care about my success more than I do. Rebuilding required taking full responsibility, verifying expertise, and trusting myself to make better decisions. This shift restored confidence and momentum.Faith, Integrity, and Spiritual AccountabilityFaith guides how I approach business and relationships. Integrity, responsibility, and alignment protect my future and ensure peace in my decisions.Guru Culture and False PromisesMany consultants and programs rely on emotional persuasion rather than sustainable results. Verification and due diligence are essential before trusting anyone with your money or business.Trust But VerifyTrust must be earned and validated. Modern tools—including AI—allow you to confirm expertise and protect your time, money, and future. Verification is no longer optional; it’s a necessity.Connect with Dwight Heck🌐 Visit my website for resources and coaching: giveaheck.com📘 Follow me on Facebook (Personal): facebook.com/dwight.heck📺 Subscribe to my YouTube channel for episodes and video content: youtube.com/@giveaheck📸 Join me on Instagram for daily insights: instagram.com/give.a.heck🧵 Connect on Threads: threads.net/@give.a.heck💼 Network with me on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/dwight-heck-65a90150🎵 Watch my TikTok content: tiktok.com/@giveaheck
