Rewind on the Virg: Episode 100—The First 100 and What Comes Next
While Virginia takes a little time away to enjoy life as it’s happening, she’s opening the Virg Vault and returning to Episode 100—a milestone conversation about how Living on the Virg changed as she changed. The podcast began with Bravo, pop culture, travel and plenty of opinions. Over its first 100 episodes, it gradually became something broader: a place for honest conversations about friendship, family, reinvention, slowing down and paying attention to real life.In this Rewind, you’ll hear the original Episode 100 exactly as it was released, followed by a new reflection on what came next—and why growth does not always mean becoming someone different. Sometimes it means becoming more fully yourself.Originally published February 18, 2026. Rewind on the Virg: My Night at Jax’s—Before the Lori K. Drama
I recorded this before Lori Krebs became part of the headline—and now the episode sounds completely different. Before the recent pictures from Mexico, before the questions surrounding Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s longtime publicist, and before The Valley entered another complicated chapter, I spent an evening inside Jax’s Studio City for The Valley season-premiere watch party.I met people, watched members of the cast react in real time and documented the evening exactly as I experienced it. I wasn’t predicting the future or searching for clues. I was simply sharing what I saw, heard and felt as someone who was actually in the room. For Episode 137, I’m reopening the Virg Vault and replaying that original episode exactly as it aired. Nothing has been changed to make the past fit what we know today. In a new introduction and reflection, I discuss the recent Lori K. headlines, Brittany’s public response and the important difference between documented information and online assumptions. Jax and Lori have not publicly explained the complete history or timeline of their relationship.Podcasts can become little time capsules—and hindsight has a way of changing what we hear.Did the recent developments change how you heard any of these moments?Chapters00:00 — Welcome to Rewind on the Virg00:37 — Why the Lori K. headlines brought me back02:20 — What I knew then versus what we know now04:03 — The original Episode 10 begins04:29 — Arriving at Jax’s Studio City06:38 — Mima’s beer cheese is crossed off the menu08:00 — The room begins filling up19:00 — Watching The Valley premiere with the cast01:04:05 — What the episode sounds like today01:06:05 — The question I have for listenersFollow Living on the Virg and share this episode with your Bravo-loving friends.Instagram: @livingonthevirgpodcasts#LivingOnTheVirg #RewindOnTheVirg #JaxTaylor #BrittanyCartwright #LoriKrebs #TheValley #BravoTV #BravoFans #RealityTV #RealityTVPodcastFact-Check ReferencesPeople: https://people.com/brittany-cartwright-upset-photos-jax-taylor-former-publicist-romance-source-exclusive-12019309Page Six: https://pagesix.com/2026/07/18/celebrity-news/brittany-cartwright-reacts-to-ex-jax-taylors-romance-with-publicist-lori-krebs/Follow up on YouTube! The Birthday Dress, Signed Hokas & Reality TV Finales
It’s been a relatively quiet week—but there has still been plenty tucked inside it.Virginia shares her search for a special birthday dress, the requirements that matter now, and why she wants the experience to feel fun instead of like another mission. She also confesses to a complicated relationship with Lilly Pulitzer, considers whether “marinating” on a very full shopping cart counts as restraint, and realizes she may have expected one pair of tennis shoes to perform far too many jobs. Then it’s time for reality television: Rebecca and Zied’s explosive communication on 90 Day: The Last Resort, the Love Island USA Season 8 finale, and which couples Virginia hopes will survive outside the villa. Finally, Virginia previews the upcoming Vine Van tour and explains why she’s taking a little time away—to celebrate, enjoy turning 60, and experience this meaningful stretch of life before trying to package it.In this episodeSelf-care without turning it into another projectMeeting a woman beginning a new chapter after 40 years of marriageThe requirements for Virginia’s special birthday dressThe wonder of shopping in a local boutiqueA love-hate relationship with Lilly Pulitzer“Restraint with a loophole”Walking shoes versus gym and travel shoesWhy Emily Simpson signed Virginia’s HokasRebecca and Zied on 90 Day: The Last ResortLove Island USA Season 8 finale reactionsA preview of the upcoming Vine Van tourThe two episodes returning from the Virg VaultChoosing to live an experience before turning it into content#LivingOnTheVirg #LifeLately #Turning60 #BirthdayDress #SelfCare #LillyPulitzer #WomenOver50 #Hoka #BravoCon #90DayFiance #TheLastResort #LoveIslandUSA #TemeculaWineCountry #VineVanTour #RealityTVPodcastFollow up on YouTube! What Does It Really Mean to Put Yourself First?
Virginia reflects on what "putting yourself first" has come to mean in her own life, discovering that it's less about selfishness and more about paying attention—to her body, emotions, faith, relationships, and what truly matters. She shares the quiet shifts that have brought more peace, intention, and clarity to everyday life. This week I've been thinking about one question:What does putting yourself first actually mean? For a long time, I thought it meant choosing myself over everyone else. Lately, I've realized it's something much quieter than that. It's learning to pay attention. To listen when my body is asking for rest—or movement. To notice my emotions without immediately trying to fix them.To ask what really matters today instead of trying to do everything. And maybe the biggest lesson of all: listening is only half the equation. Responding is the part that changes your life.Whether you're building a career, raising a family, caring for aging parents, starting over, or simply trying to create a little more peace in your days, I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down long enough to hear what you've been trying to tell yourself all along.#LivingOnTheVirg#PersonalGrowth#SelfCare#IntentionalLiving#Mindset#LifeLessons#SelfAwareness#putyourselffirstFollow up on YouTube! The Dress, the Dumbbells & Bravo: A Week of Unexpected Lessons Alternate Titles
Some weeks teach you lessons in places you never expected. This week I'm sharing a little bit of everything—from realizing I'm finally getting stronger in the gym to finally trying on the dress I'd been thinking about for months (and discovering it wasn't the dress that mattered after all). We'll also catch up on family, brunch with my daughters-in-love, the Temecula Business Woman Connection, my thoughts on Real Housewives of Orange County, the latest Tom Sandoval drama, and why I'm so excited for an upcoming Vine Van Tour through Temecula Wine Country.Plus, I'm giving you a preview of Tuesday's episode about what "putting yourself first" has really come to mean in my own life.Grab your coffee—or your wine—and let's catch up.Episode SummaryIn Episode 134 of Living on the Virg, Virginia reflects on:• Getting stronger at the gym and learning smarter strength training• Why consistency beats exhaustion• Finally trying on "the dress" that had lived rent-free in her mind• Meaningful conversations with the Temecula Business Woman Connection• Fourth of July with family• Brunch with her daughters-in-love• RHOC Season 20 premiere watch party• Tom Sandoval, Victoria and a surprising look back at meeting them• GBV Winery's new Cabernet Sauvignon• Upcoming Vine Van Tour• A preview of Tuesday's episode about putting yourself first#LivingOnTheVirg#WomenOver50#HealthyAging#Midlife#StrengthTraining#BravoTV#RHOC#WineCountry#Temecula#Podcast#WomenSupportingWomen#LifestylePodcast#FitnessJourney#Menopause#WinosOnTheVirgFollow up on YouTube! The Conversation You're Avoiding
Have you ever replayed a conversation in your head before it even happened? Filled in the blanks? Assumed the ending before you knew the facts? This week, I realized just how often we do that.In this episode, I share three very different conversations—from a family meeting about my mom's dementia, to questioning a friendship, to thinking about future conversations with my own children—and how each one taught me the exact same lesson.Sometimes the hardest part isn't the conversation. It's the story we create while we're avoiding it.If you've ever lost sleep over something that hadn't even happened yet, this episode is for you.Key TakeawaysWhy our brains naturally create stories when we don't have enough information. The surprising peace that can come from difficult conversations. How assumptions often create more stress than reality.A simple question that can stop anxiety before it spirals. Why facts and stories are rarely the same thing.#LivingOnTheVirg #Conversations #PersonalGrowth #SelfReflection #Mindset #Relationships #MentalWellness #Communication #LifeLessons #PodcastFollow up on YouTube! Life Lately: America at 250, Amazon Wins & California Dreaming
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, I'm reflecting on one of my favorite childhood memories—attending the 1976 Bicentennial celebration at the Los Angeles Coliseum as a ten-year-old. That trip down memory lane leads to everything from the documentaries I've been binge-watching to Amazon Prime purchases I didn't keep, why my robot vacuum "Rosie" may be the best purchase I've ever made, and how I'm trying to be a little less impulsive these days. Then we're diving into Reality on the Virg with my latest thoughts on The Valley and The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, before switching gears for Travel on the Virg, where I need your help planning California road trips beginning in Santa Barbara. Finally, it's time for Winos on the Virg, where I'm comparing three popular Temecula wine club memberships and sharing which perks might make each one worth joining. If you have favorite wineries, restaurants, hidden beaches, or unforgettable California experiences, I'd love to hear from you. This is just the beginning of exploring our own backyard together.TakeawaysWhy America's 250th birthday sparked a childhood memory I'll never forget. How documentaries can reconnect us with history. Why "return day" feels like payday. The unexpected purchase that completely changed my weekly routine. My latest Bravo thoughts on The Valley and RHORI.A new listener-powered California travel series begins.Comparing three Temecula wine club memberships.Call to ActionI'd love your help planning future California adventures! The State of the Virg
We're officially halfway through 2026, and instead of setting new goals, I decided to look backward.I read all 44 podcast transcripts from the first half of the year expecting to find a list of accomplishments. Instead, I found a story. In this episode, I'm reflecting on what six months of journaling, podcasting, faith, health goals, Women in Business interviews, Camp Nana, ordinary Tuesdays, and everyday life have quietly taught me.We talk about:Why my word of the year, Alignment, ended up meaning something completely different than I expected. How systems stopped being about productivity and started creating peace. Why this podcast finally found its voice. The surprising lesson I learned from looking back instead of always looking ahead. And why I can honestly say...I like June Virginia. If you've ever wondered whether you're actually growing—or if growth is simply happening too gradually to notice—I hope this conversation reminds you to look back once in a while.Sometimes the biggest changes don't happen all at once.Sometimes they happen one ordinary day at a time.Key Takeaways• Alignment changed from a goal into a way of living.• Systems create peace—not just productivity.• The podcast didn't need a niche. It needed honesty.• Protecting your calm is just as important as chasing your goals.• Growth usually reveals itself only when we stop long enough to look back.• Ordinary life is worth paying attention to.#LivingOnTheVirg #PersonalGrowth #MidYearReflection #Alignment #IntentionalLiving #WomenOver50 #SelfReflection #LifeLessons #Mindset #PodcastFollow up on YouTube! The Responsible One: How Being the Oldest Child Followed Me Into Adulthood
After revisiting a book about birth order, Virginia found herself wondering how much of her personality was simply who she is—and how much was shaped by growing up as the oldest child. In this episode, she explores the gifts and challenges of being "the responsible one," from helping raise younger siblings to managing a household, raising four boys, hosting Camp Nana, and stepping into leadership roles without even realizing it.Along the way, she uncovers a deeper question:What happens when being useful becomes part of your identity? This conversation explores responsibility, family roles, authentic connection, Me Mondays, and the surprising difference between being needed and being loved.Episode HighlightsWhat birth order theory says about oldest childrenGrowing up as the oldest siblingThe strengths that come with being dependableWhy responsibility can become part of our identityCamp Nana and the tendency to over-own experiencesThe difference between being needed and being lovedWhy Me Monday isn't really about timeLearning that responsibility is only one part of who we are#LivingOnTheVirg #BirthOrder #OldestChild #OldestDaughterSyndrome #FamilyDynamics #SelfReflection #PersonalGrowth #LifeLessons #WomenOver50 #WomenOver60 #PodcastLife #Grandparenting #Identity #PersonalDevelopment #ResponsibleOneFollow up on YouTube! Camp Nana: What Kids Actually Remember
What started as a simple sleepover quickly spiraled into a full-blown Nana Summer Staycation Adventure Camp complete with opening ceremonies, scorecards, medals, Nana Bucks, a Nana Store, soccer competitions, water balloons, and one very overcommitted camp commissioner. In this episode, I'm sharing the story behind Camp Nana, what surprised me most about Ethan and Zeke, and the lessons I learned from spending two uninterrupted days together. We talk about competition, kindness, honesty, family traditions, and why the things kids remember are often very different from the things adults spend so much time worrying about.Along the way you'll hear directly from the boys themselves as they reflect on MVP awards, athletic achievement, Nana Bucks, string cheese controversies, and why Camp Nana earned a rating of 20 out of 10...and 200 million.Sometimes the most meaningful memories come from the simplest moments.#LivingOnTheVirg#PodcastLife#StorytellingPodcast#RealLifeConversations#LifeInProgress#CampNana#MakingMemories#GrandparentLife#FamilyTraditions#SummerMemories#NanaLife#Grandkids#ConnectionOverPerfection#WhatKidsRemember#FamilyStoriesFollow up on YouTube! Learning What Enough Feels Like
Yesterday I got more done than I had in weeks.I went to the gym, cleaned up the house, tackled a mountain of office work, balanced finances, edited a podcast episode I was proud of, and made healthy choices all day long. And somehow, at the end of the day, I still felt behind. That realization sent me down an unexpected path during my morning journaling session and led to an uncomfortable truth: my stress isn't coming from a lack of effort. It's coming from my inability to emotionally register completion. In this episode, I'm talking about productivity, retirement, unfinished to-do lists, invisible labor, and the way many of us automatically convert progress into remaining obligation. If you've ever finished a successful day only to focus on what didn't get done, this conversation is for you.In this episode:Why getting things done doesn't always feel satisfyingThe difference between unfinished tasks and actual failureLife after careers, businesses, and major responsibilitiesLearning to recognize progress instead of chasing completionWhy "enough" might be the skill we're really trying to learnBecause maybe the problem isn't that we're behind.Maybe we've forgotten what enough feels like.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastLife #WomenOver50 #MidlifeWomen #LifeAfter50 #RealLifeConversations #PersonalGrowth #SelfReflection #MindsetShift #RetirementLife #ProductivityWithoutPressure #EnoughIsEnough #JournalingJourney #IntentionalLiving #WomenInMidlife #LifeTransitions #SelfAwareness #PersonalDevelopment #ManagingVsLiving #MidlifeMindsetFollow up on YouTube! What Seven Women Taught Me About Building a Life
A month ago, I set out to interview seven women in business. What I thought would be a series about entrepreneurship, leadership, money, and success quickly became something much deeper.Over the course of these conversations, I found myself listening less for business strategies and more for the life lessons hiding underneath them. Different industries. Different decades. Different personalities. Yet the same themes kept showing up again and again: resilience, family, responsibility, courage, mentorship, adaptability, and the willingness to keep moving before feeling ready. In this Women in Business Series Wrap-Up, I'm sharing the six biggest lessons these remarkable women taught me—not just about building businesses, but about building meaningful lives. If you've ever wondered whether you're on the right path, whether it's too late to start something new, or what success really looks like in this season of life, I think you'll find something here for yourself. In This Episode:Why nobody followed a straight pathThe power of "do it scared"Why the hardest part isn't the businessFamily as a driving force behind successThe surprising traits these women sharedMentorship, legacy, and lifting others upWhat this series taught me about my own next chapterFollow & ConnectLiving on the Virg is a lifestyle podcast about real life—the fun parts, the messy parts, and what they're trying to teach us.Special for our listeners🍷 Use code VIRG for 10% off bottle purchases at GBV Winery. Finding Yourself While Building Something New | Women in Business Series
This one feels close to home.I’m sitting down with Lonna Lewis — a former stay-at-home mom who stepped into something new and, alongside her daughters, built a successful business. We talk about what that transition really looked like — the identity shifts, the uncertainty, and what it means to start something when it wasn’t part of the original plan. This isn’t a story about overnight success. It’s about figuring it out, showing up, and creating something that actually works for your life. And somewhere along the way, she didn’t just build a business — she found herself too.If you’ve ever felt that pull to do something different, or wondered what it really looks like to start over in a new season, this conversation will stay with you#LivingOnTheVirg #WomenInBusiness #PodcastLife#FemaleEntrepreneur #SmallBusinessOwner #MidlifeWomen #WomenOver40#StartingOver #MidlifeShift #RealLifeStories #ItsNotTooLate #BuildYourLifeFollow up on YouTube! April Furnace on Freedom, Clients, and Real Life Behind the Chair | Women in Business Series
In this Women in Business conversation, I’m sitting down with April Furnace — a cosmetologist who’s built a 24-year career behind the chair. This episode is such a real look at a side of business that doesn’t always get talked about — the hands-on, people-centered kind. We talk about how she got started, what it actually takes to build and keep a clientele, and what her day-to-day really looks like. But we also get into the deeper layers — the emotional side of working so closely with people, the flexibility that comes with being in control of your own income, and the reality of building a life around a non-traditional career. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to build a business that’s rooted in real relationships, this one is for you.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastLife #MidlifePodcast #LifestylePodcast #NewPodcastEpisode#WomenInBusiness #WomenEntrepreneurs #WomenSupportingWomen #FemaleFounders #BusinessInRealLife#HairstylistLife #SalonLife #BehindTheChair #BeautyIndustry #ServiceBasedBusiness#RealLifeConversations #MidlifeReflections #LifeInTheMiddle #FreedomAndFlexibility #BuildingYourOwnLifeFollow up on YouTube! From ‘Too Young’ to Partner: Building a Business Your Way | Women in Business Series
This episode is a real look at what life actually looks like inside business.I’m sitting down with Megan Lewis, Vice President and partner at Jake Group Remarketing, to talk about how she built her career, what surprised her along the way, and what it really takes to grow into leadership. We talk about everything from starting young in a male-dominated industry to balancing work, motherhood, and a second creative business. But more than anything, this is a conversation about the reality behind the word “entrepreneurship” — the discipline, the pressure, and the responsibility of being your own scorecard. If you’ve ever wondered what it actually looks like to build something while raising a family… this one will feel very familiar.#LivingOnTheVirg #WomenInBusiness #WorkingMoms #EntrepreneurLife #RealLifePodcast #BusinessJourney #Leadership #MomLifeBalance #FemaleEntrepreneurs #MidlifeConversationsFollow up on YouTube! This is the first episode in a new series — conversations with women in business, in real life.In this episode, I’m sitting down with Savannah Pfautz and Shareen Furillo — business partners, moms, and co-owners of an accounting firm — to talk about what entrepreneurship actually looks like behind the scenes. We get into how they started, what surprised them, what’s been harder than expected, and what a real day in their lives looks like — especially during their busiest season. We also talk about money — the biggest mistakes people make, why so many of us avoid finances, and what to do if you feel behind. But more than anything, this is a conversation about building something — and what it really takes to do it.If you’ve ever thought about starting something of your own, or just wondered what it actually looks like… this one’s for you.#LivingOnTheVirg #WomenInBusiness #EntrepreneurLife #WorkingMoms #SmallBusinessOwner #RealLifePodcast #MoneyTalk #BusinessPartners #FemaleEntrepreneurs #MidlifeConversationsFollow up on YouTube! Everything Is Fine… So I Finally Made Some Decisions
In this episode, I’m following up on a feeling I talked about recently—the kind of crossroads that isn’t loud or dramatic… but quietly sits in the background of your life.Everything looks fine. Life is working. But something feels just a little unsettled. And what I realized is this: it wasn’t confusion… it was unmade decisions. So instead of overthinking it, I started moving—small steps, real actions—and what happened next surprised me.We’re talking about:the difference between being under-informed vs. avoiding what you already knowhow “thinking about it” can feel like progress (but isn’t)why clarity doesn’t come first—movement doesand what actually shifts when you stop avoiding the next stepAnd at the end, I’m sharing something I’ve been working on behind the scenes…✨ A brand new Women in Business series launching May 1st— featuring dynamic, thoughtful women across different decades and stages of life, all navigating business and real life in their own way.If you’ve been feeling a little stuck—even when everything seems fine—this one’s for you.#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifePodcast #PersonalGrowth #LifeTransitions #WomenInBusiness #MindsetShift #SelfReflection #PodcastLife #RealLifePodcast #Clarity #DecisionMaking #WomenSupportingWomenFollow up on YouTube! When Reality TV Gets Too Real + Life Lately on the Virg
This week on Living on the Virg, it’s your Friday mix — a little life, a little reality, a little wine… and a new segment I’m adding in: travel.I’m sharing a recent spa day that reminded me how long we wait to take care of ourselves, plus a completely ridiculous (but very real) situation involving my trash can company that still has me shaking my head. Then we get into what’s happening right now in reality TV — and honestly, it’s starting to feel less like entertainment and more like real-life consequences. Arrests, relationship fallout, and the kind of mess you can’t look away from.I’m also talking about that feeling we all get this time of year… how spring break suddenly turns into graduation season, and before you know it, summer is here — and time feels like it’s moving faster than you can keep up with.Plus: 🍷 Winos on the Virg — Big Red Fest reminder ✈️ New segment: Travel on the Virg (cruise planning begins)If you like real life, real talk, and paying attention to what it’s all trying to teach you… you’re in the right place.#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifePodcast #RealLifePodcast #BravoTV #RealityTVTalk #TemeculaWine #WinosOnTheVirg #LifeLately #PodcastLife #WomenOver50 #TravelPlanning #CaribbeanCruise #SoCalLife #PodcastEpisode #RealTalkFollow up on YouTube! The Crossroads You Can’t Quite Name
What if nothing is wrong… but something still feels off?In this episode, I’m talking through a feeling I couldn’t quite name at first — like I’m standing at a crossroads, but I’m not even sure what decision I’m being asked to make.Life is good. Things are functioning. There’s no crisis. And yet… something feels unsettled. So I started asking myself: Am I under-informed… or am I avoiding a truth I already know? From decisions about home, money, work, and even this podcast — I realized that not all crossroads are loud or urgent. Some are quiet, internal, and easy to ignore. This episode is about that in-between space: When nothing is broken, but something is shifting. And maybe the answer isn’t to figure everything out… but to take one small, honest step — and pay attention to what it shows you next.If you’ve ever felt like your life is good but not fully settled, this one’s for you.#LivingontheVirg#midlifepodcast #lifeintransition #personalgrowth #selfreflection #alignment #lifechanges #mindsetshift #innerwork #podcastlife #realtalk #lifestylepodcast #selfawareness #growthjourneyFollow up on YouTube! Full Life, Real Talk & Winos at Altisima
This week on Living on the Virg, I’m talking about what it feels like when life is full, productive, and moving… but your body is having a completely different experience. From gym wins and mindset clarity to unexpected body awareness, this episode is about noticing without spiraling—and choosing not to turn on yourself in the process. We also get into a little “Reality on the Virg,” pulling real-life themes from Temptation Island and The Valley—because sometimes the most surface-level shows reveal deeper truths about relationships, communication, and growth. And of course, Winos on the Virg takes us to Altisima Winery in Temecula—an elevated, scenic spot that just might make the short list for wine club membership. If life doesn’t wait until everything feels perfect… maybe we don’t have to either.#LivingOnTheVirg#MidlifePodcast#LifestylePodcast#RealLifeReflections#BodyImageInMidlife#WomenInMidlife#TemptationIsland#TheValley#WinosOnTheVirg#TemeculaWineries#AltisimaWinery#PodcastLife#Over40Life#MindsetShiftFollow up on YouTube! From Chopped Kitchens to Cruise Plans… Still Catching My Breath
Some days you get everything done… and still feel like you’re catching your breath. In this episode of Living on the Virg, I’m sharing a real-life reset day—from getting back to the gym and checking in on my mom, to finally finishing lingering office work and reminding myself to actually recognize the wins.I also found myself playing my own version of “Chopped” this week—turning what I already had into simple, satisfying meals (including a French onion–inspired lunch that was way better than expected).Plus, a fun Saturday out with friends (sushi, wine, and Bolero), and a look ahead at an upcoming Caribbean cruise—with a few destinations that surprised me with just how much history they hold.If you’ve been to St. Kitts, Grand Turk, or Antigua, I’d love your recommendations—DM or email me!And I’m starting to think about a possible upcoming series… more to come.Until then—just real life, as it comes.#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifePodcast #LifestylePodcast #RealLifeReflections #WomenInBusiness #EntrepreneurLife #TemeculaLife #WinosOnTheVirg #FoodAndLifestyle #PodcastLife #MidlifeReset #CaribbeanCruise #TravelPlanning #HomeCooking #RealLifeMomentsFollow up on YouTube! I Wasn’t Stuck… I Was Overloaded
This was not the episode I planned to record—but it’s the one that needed to be recorded. After an emotionally full and physically exhausting week, I found myself sitting in a place that felt unfamiliar… like I couldn’t process, couldn’t decide, couldn’t move forward the way I normally do.And for a moment, I thought I was stuck. But what I realized is this: I wasn’t stuck—I was overloaded. In this episode, I’m talking about what it feels like when life stacks too many things at once… the pressure to hold it together, the fear of how things will impact the people you love, and the quiet identity shift that happens when you can’t “handle things” the way you usually do.We also get into something deeper—trusting relationships, and the realization that sometimes what you’re really afraid of isn’t the conversation… it’s what someone’s response might reveal about who they are.And maybe the biggest takeaway: Not every day is meant to be solved. Some days are just meant to be lived through.#midlifepodcast #reallifepodcast #livingonthevirg #emotionaloverload #mentalreset #selfawareness #midlifereflection #lifetransitions #friendshipmatters #trustinrelationships #overwhelmed #nervoussystem #realandraw #podcastlife #womenpodcastersFollow up on YouTube! Why Do I Still Feel Behind… Even When I’m Doing Everything Right?
This week on Living on the Virg, I’m sharing something I didn’t expect to notice…I had one of the most productive days I’ve had in a long time—hours of focused work, big tasks completed, real progress made. And still… I woke up the next morning feeling behind. Not proud. Not relieved. Just behind. As I prepare for a busy Easter weekend filled with family, church, and hosting, I found myself sitting in the tension between how things look on the outside and how they actually feel on the inside. In this episode, I talk about:Why accomplishment doesn’t always feel like enoughThe pressure of being “the one who can handle it all”The quiet exhaustion that doesn’t always show up as burnoutThe reality of retirement vs. what we imagined it would beAnd the cycle of doing, pushing, resting… and never quite landingThis isn’t about fixing anything. It’s about noticing. And maybe… letting one thing count.#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifeReflections #RealLifePodcast #FeelingBehind #MentalLoad #Overwhelm #ProductivityMyths #WomenInMidlife #LifeTransitions #EmotionalWellbeing #SelfAwareness #PodcastLife #EmptyNestLife #RetirementReality #MindsetShiftFollow up on YouTube! This Week on the Virg: Attraction vs Alignment, Real Life Moments & Starting Again
Some weeks aren’t just one thing — and this is one of those episodes. This week, I’m sharing a mix of what I’ve been watching, where I’ve been, and what’s been on my mind — from the reality show Age of Attraction and how differently it hits in midlife, to a Palm Desert day with friends that felt like a reset.I talk about spending time with my grandson Ezra, a meaningful lunch with my mom, and what I learned about how dementia affects emotional processing — something that really shifted my perspective. We also touch on something important: how to recognize signs of postpartum depression and why checking in on mom matters just as much as checking on the baby.On the lifestyle side, I’m getting honest about my health and wellness rhythm (or lack of it lately), and what changed when I stopped trying to do it alone — hello, social accountability.Plus:Hosting without the stress (simple spring + Easter prep tips)Letting life be full without losing yourself in itAnd this week’s Winos on the Virg at Doffo Winery 🍷Because sometimes the takeaway isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing it differently.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastLife #MidlifeReflections #RealLifeConversations #WinosOnTheVirg #TemeculaWineCountry #SocialAccountability #PostpartumAwareness #DementiaAwareness #WomenInMidlife #LifestylePodcast #LifeLately #IntentionalLiving #FridayFeels #PodcastCommunityFollow up on YouTube! The Things We Don’t Do (and Why They Follow Us Around)
There are always those things we keep meaning to do…The email. The appointment. The conversation. The task that would probably take five minutes—but somehow lingers for weeks. In this episode, I’m talking about procrastination in a way that feels a little more honest and a lot more relatable. Not as a productivity problem—but as something deeper.Because the truth is… it’s not just that we don’t do the thing. It’s that the thing doesn’t leave us alone. From tax prep to real-life conversations that get delayed, I started noticing a pattern—one that goes beyond me and shows up in all of us.We talk about:Why avoidance actually expands the thing we’re avoidingThe ripple effect it can have on other peopleWhat’s really happening in your brain when you procrastinateAnd one simple shift that can help you feel lighter immediatelyThis isn’t about fixing everything. It’s about getting it out of your head.If something has been quietly following you around… this one’s for you.#LivingOnTheVirg #Procrastination #MentalLoad #Overthinking #MidlifeConversations #RealLifeTalk #SelfAwareness #GetUnstuck #MindsetShift #LifeReflections #PodcastLifeFollow up on YouTube! What I’m Watching, What I’m Not… and When Your Body Says Not Yet
On this Friday-style episode of Living on the Virg, I’m easing into the day with a little bit of everything: real life, what I’m watching, what I’m not, and what’s catching my attention right now.I start with a very real reminder that just because you think you’re back to normal doesn’t mean your body is ready yet. After a productive reset day, a late-night “normal” meal, and a rough night of stomach pain and a migraine-style headache, I found myself sitting with the frustration of having to slow down again. That turned into a bigger reflection on the in-between spaces in life — those moments when you’re not where you were, but not fully where you’re going either. Then we shift into reality on the Virg: I’m talking American Crime Story: Impeachment, the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton story through a much more layered lens, the Netflix JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette docuseries Love Story, Padma’s new food competition series America’s Culinary Cup, Love Is Blind, RHOBH, Southern Hospitality, and a few quick hits on what I’m not watching and what I think is interesting in Housewives news. And for this week’s Winos on the Virg, I’m sharing details on the upcoming Big Red Fest on the De Portola Wine Trail and a few tips if you’ve never done a wine trail event before.A little real life, a little reality, a little wine country — and a reminder that timing matters more than we think.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastEpisode #MidlifeReflections #RealityTV #PopCulture #WinosOnTheVirg #TemeculaWineCountry #WomenOver50 #RealLifeReflections #PersonalGrowthFollow up on YouTube! Your Brain Is Asking for Resolution, But Life Is Giving You Evolution
In this episode of Living on the Virg, I’m talking about a thought that came to me while journaling and wouldn’t let go: your brain is asking for resolution, but life is giving you evolution. So many of us want clarity, closure, and tidy answers. We want to know where things are headed, when a relationship will settle, when a decision will feel obvious, or when a season of life will finally feel complete. But the truth is, many of the most meaningful parts of life do not resolve all at once — they evolve slowly over time.In this episode, I reflect on midlife, shifting identity, relationships, routines, financial planning, the passing of time, and the tension between wanting certainty and learning to live inside change. If you’ve been feeling like parts of your life are unfinished, unsettled, or unclear, this conversation may remind you that you are not behind — you may simply be living through a season of evolution. #LivingOnTheVirg #Midlife #PersonalGrowth #SelfReflection #MindsetShift #LifeTransitions #IntentionalLiving #EvolutionNotResolution #MidlifePodcast #WomenInMidlife #Journaling #EmotionalWellnessFollow up on YouTube! More Outfits With Fewer Clothes
Do you ever open your closet and feel like it’s full of clothes from different versions of your life?In this episode, I’m talking about what happened after my closet redo and how it accidentally led me into building a capsule wardrobe. What started as cleaning out clothes turned into something bigger: noticing what I actually wear, why some pieces no longer fit my life, and how simplifying my wardrobe has made getting dressed feel easier, calmer, and more intentional.I share the funny story of discovering my “black” joggers were actually navy, how a more intentional shopping trip changed the way I buy clothes, and why so many of us in midlife start craving fewer, better pieces instead of more options. We’ll also talk about:why capsule wardrobes reduce decision fatiguehow style shifts when comfort, fit, and quality matter morewhat it means to let go of clothes tied to old versions of yourselffive simple wardrobe staples that make getting dressed easierThis episode isn’t really just about clothes. Reality TV Is Having a Moment + Life Lately on the Virg
In this episode of Living on the Virg, I’m doing a fun reality TV catch-up and talking through what’s happening across Bravo, TLC, streaming, and the wider reality TV world right now. From the nostalgia wave around older shows to the way social media has changed how we watch and connect with reality stars, there’s a lot to unpack.I share my thoughts on the America’s Next Top Model documentary, the complicated way older reality TV moments look through a modern lens, and why some shows still feel fresh while others feel like they may have lost the magic. I also talk about 90 Day: The Single Life, Survivor, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and the Vanderpump Rules reboot. Then I shift into some real-life updates: a special Disneyland day with my granddaughter, our sweet new baby, our upcoming Caribbean cruise, Easter plans with the family, and this week’s Winos on the Virg featuring GBV Winery on the De Portola wine trail. This one is part reality TV recap, part life lately, and a reminder that as fun as reality TV can be, sometimes the best show is the one happening right in front of us.#LivingOnTheVirg #RealityTV #Bravo #Housewives #RHOBH #VanderpumpRules #90DayFiance #Survivor #RealityTVPodcast #PopCulturePodcast #TemeculaWineCountry #WinosOnTheVirg #DisneylandDay #NanaLife #LifeLatelyFollow up on YouTube! How to Stop “Organizing” Yourself Out of Happiness
Have you ever noticed that sometimes the more you try to organize your life, the more chaotic it becomes? After retiring, I fell into a full-on productivity spiral—apps, calendars, notebooks, lists… and yes, systems for my systems—yet somehow nothing was actually getting done.In this episode, I share the moment I realized I was practically organizing myself out of my own happiness… and the pivot that changed everything: life wasn’t waiting for me to perfectly organize it before I could start living it.The surprising shift came from something simple I now call intentional sequences—small repeatable rhythms that reduce decision fatigue and quietly bring structure to your days. We’ll talk about why life isn’t a puzzle to solve (it’s a rhythm to live), how routines can actually create freedom, and why the smallest repeated moments often shape the happiest lives.#LivingOnTheVirg #IntentionalLiving #IntentionalSequences #Routines #Habits #DecisionFatigue #Overwhelm #ProductivityCulture #LifeRhythm #SimpleSystems #MindsetShift #Midlife #Journaling #MorningRoutine #MealPlanning #PersonalGrowth #LifestylePodcast #RealLifePodcastFollow up on YouTube! Showing Up Matters
In this episode, I talk about something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: showing up. Showing up for birthdays and hard conversations… for family and friendships… and for yourself. Because showing up is powerful — but if we’re not paying attention, it can slowly turn into over-functioning, resentment, and depletion. We’ll unpack the difference between showing up and over-functioning, the quiet pain of being “the one,” and how to redirect your energy toward what’s aligned, reciprocated, and peaceful. I’m also sharing three simple questions I ask myself in real time before I say yes — so my showing up stays chosen, not compulsive. #LivingOnTheVirg #ShowingUpMatters #Overfunctioning #Boundaries #EmotionalHealth #Midlife #SelfWorth #Friendships #Marriage #PersonalGrowth #NervousSystem #PeaceFollow up on YouTube! One Year In: What Podcasting Taught Me (Without Trying to Go Viral)
Today marks one full year of Living on the Virg — which is honestly wild to say out loud. In this one-year anniversary episode, I’m talking about what I thought podcasting would be (hello, reality TV recaps) versus what it became (real life, in real time). I share what surprised me, what I overthought (logos, intros, editing… all of it), the guest-chasing myth, a few of my funniest “I had to learn the hard way” moments, and the biggest lesson of all: consistency beats intensity, and people don’t want perfect — they want honest. Happy one year to us. 💜#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastAnniversary #OneYearPodcast #RealLifePodcast #LifestylePodcast #PopCulturePodcast #RealityTVPodcast #BravoTalk #Overthinking #ConsistencyOverIntensity #CreatorJourney #PodcastingLife #BehindTheScenes #Authenticity #MidlifeGrowth #WomenPodcasters #TemeculaWineCountry #WinosOnTheVirg #acastFollow up on YouTube! Episode 100: The First 100 — And What Comes Next
Episode 100. I honestly can’t believe I’m saying that. When I started this podcast almost a year ago, I didn’t have a big plan — I just watched a lot of reality TV, had a lot of opinions, and thought it would be fun to talk about it somewhere. And for a while, that’s exactly what it was: Bravo, trips, events, saying yes to everything, and chasing the next thing to cover. But somewhere along the way, without one big dramatic moment, the show quietly changed… because I changed. In this milestone episode, I’m looking back on the first 100 episodes — the moments I forgot until I saw the titles again, the trips and friendships that mattered more than the “content,” and the realization that I didn’t want life to feel like homework anymore. I still love Bravo and pop culture, but I wanted this space to feel like real life again — like sitting at the kitchen counter with coffee, paying attention to the fun parts, the messy parts, and what they’re trying to teach me.This isn’t a big announcement or a pivot. It’s just me taking a minute to say: this is where we started, this is what changed, this is where I am right now… and I’m really excited to find out what the next hundred episodes look like.Thank you for being here. When Life Feels Quieter — and Fuller
This week feels different — quieter, slower, and somehow fuller at the same time. In this companion episode, Virginia talks about small daily pivots that are creating more calm without doing less. From slower mornings and returning to Bible reading, to walking, cooking at home, and letting social life feel more intentional, this episode explores the shift from managing life to actually living it.If you’ve been feeling a little sharp, tired, or overwhelmed lately, this is a gentle reminder that calm isn’t the absence of doing — it’s doing without urgency.Living on the Virg is about paying attention to real life — the fun parts, the messy parts, and what they’re trying to teach us.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastLife #MidlifeReflections #SlowLiving #IntentionalLiving #PersonalGrowth #WomenOver50 #LifeBalance #MindsetShift #CalmNotChaosFollow up on YouTube! Learning to Be on My Own Side
Today I’m talking about what it really looks like to be kind to a body that’s changing — and why I’m finally learning to be on my own side. From wine hitting differently, to food affecting mood and energy, to realizing rest days aren’t “weak”… they’re how you keep living your life without burning out. I share why “Me Monday” has become a game-changer, how I’m redefining health as energy (not aesthetics), and why gentle structure beats punishment every time. Plus, This Week on the Virg (chile relleno casserole + the Bloody Maria I can’t stop thinking about) and a very honest Winos on the Virg review of Cougar Winery on the De Portola Trail — the vibe, the service, what I tasted, and whether I’d join the club.#LivingOnTheVirg #LearningToBeOnMyOwnSide #GentleStructure #SupportOverPunishment #RestDay #MeMonday #HealthJourney #NervousSystem #SelfKindness #MindBody #TemeculaWine #WinosOnTheVirg #CougarWinery #DePortolaWineTrail #LifestylePodcastFollow up on YouTube! When Your Mind Is Louder Than Your Life
Ever feel behind… even when you’re doing everything? In this episode, I unpack the “mental noise” that keeps us stuck in self-criticism disguised as productivity — endless lists, constant optimization, and the feeling that rest is unearned. We talk about why a calmer life doesn’t mean an empty life, how to “contain the noise” with gentler structure, and why a real bedtime routine can be a form of self-respect. Plus: Winos on the Virg at Europa Village + Bolero (including a showstopper dinner), and how The Traitors and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way are basically metaphors for living in your head instead of your actual life.#LivingOnTheVirg #MentalNoise #FeelingBehind #Overthinking #SelfTalk #GentleStructure #RestIsProductive #NervousSystem #MindsetShift #RealLife #TemeculaWine #WinosOnTheVirg #EuropaVillage #Bolero #TheTraitors #90DayFianceFollow up on YouTube! Choosing Clarity Over Convenience
In today’s episode, I’m talking about why I’m choosing less for my health — and I don’t just mean less commitments or less chaos. I mean less in my body: less plastic, less artificial dye, less fragrance, less seed oils, and fewer ultra-processed ingredients that make my body work harder than it needs to.Here’s the tricky part: once you start learning what’s in everything, it can get overwhelming fast. I’ve felt that paralysis — the “I can’t eat there, I can’t use that, I can’t do anything” spiral — and that’s not what I’m after. I’m not trying to live in a bubble. I’m trying to live with more clarity.I share the small switches that actually helped me (and Ben), why I’m focused on curiosity-based wellness instead of fear-based wellness, and how “one swap at a time” is the only way this stays sustainable. Because what surprised me most wasn’t deprivation — it was relief.Living on the Virg is about paying attention to real life — the fun parts, the messy parts, and what they’re trying to teach me.#LivingOnTheVirg #CleanLiving #LowToxLiving #SeedOilFree #IngredientAwareness #FragranceFree #NonToxicHome #WellnessJourney #Inflammation #HealthyHabits #MicroSwaps #ProgressNotPerfectionFollow up on YouTube! Protection With Intention
Lately, I’ve stopped asking myself what I want more of — and started asking a different question: What do I want to protect? In this episode, I talk about protection not as fear, but as discernment. About learning that not everything deserves access to your time, your energy, or your heart. About how openness without boundaries leads to depletion, and how protecting yourself can actually be the most caring thing you do.We talk about:Why “no” is a complete sentenceThe difference between guarding and honoringProtecting your time without guiltProtecting your energy (especially emotional energy)Letting go of relationships that quietly drain youAnd why fewer, truer connections often feel better than a crowded lifeProtection isn’t isolation. It’s intention. And choosing what gets your care might be the most powerful form of self-respect there is.#LivingOnTheVirg #ProtectionWithIntention #Boundaries #SelfRespect #PersonalGrowth #EmotionalHealth #IntentionalLiving #MidlifeReset #RealTalkPodcast #WomenWhoReflect Follow up on YouTube! Friendship, Redefined: Who Shows Up, Who Doesn’t, and What It Means
Episode 94 is a deep, honest look at friendship—not just with friends, but inside our most important relationships: our parents, our children, our siblings, and our spouse. Over time, the idea of a “ride-or-die” starts to look different, and sometimes the hardest truth is that a friendship can feel like a loss even when nothing “went wrong.”In this episode, I talk about who shows up, who checks in, and who celebrates you without comparison—plus the three fundamentals that shape every relationship: proximity, timing, and energy. We’ll also talk about nurturing the friendships that matter through consistency, small gestures, and grace, and knowing when it’s time to let a friendship go without villainizing anyone. If you’ve been noticing shifts in your relationships lately, this conversation is for you.#LivingontheVIrgpodcat #LivingontheVirg #friendship #adultfriendship #relationships #boundaries #emotionalhealth #selfgrowth #marriage #familyrelationships #lettinggo #personaldevelopment #lifelessons #podcastFollow up on YouTube! The Quiet Pressure of Expectations (and Letting Joy In Anyway)
In today’s episode, I’m sharing a few real-life observations that have been sticking with me lately — around expectations, assumptions, and the quiet pressure we carry without realizing it.We talk about the expectations we absorb from society, how unspoken assumptions shape our experiences, and why frustration often comes not from what’s happening — but from what we think should be happening. From a chaotic (and surprisingly joyful) cooking class to a revealing book club discussion, this episode explores what happens when expectations go unexamined — and how loosening them can make room for more presence, more ease, and more joy before everything is finished.Plus, a quick pop-culture nod to The Traitors and what it gets right about trust, certainty, and assumptions. This isn’t advice — just a check-in, an observation, and an invitation to notice what might shift if expectations loosened their grip.#LivingOnTheVirg#MidlifeReflections#Expectations#SelfAwareness#PersonalGrowth#Lifestyle / Wellness#EmotionalWellbeing#MindsetShift#JoyInTheProcess#IntentionalLiving#LifeObservations#Pop Culture / Crossover#TheTraitors#RealityTVThoughts#PopCultureReflectionsFollow up on YouTube! What We’re Really Holding Onto: Excess, Safety & Function Over Applause
What started as a practical closet redo turned into something much more reflective. In this episode, I talk about what excess really represents — why letting go can feel scary, how safety and identity quietly get tied to what we own, and why I’m choosing function over aesthetics and peace over applause in this season of life.I also share a real-life friendship conversation about expectations and presence, break down the RHOSLC reunion (Andy Cohen walking off set, fractured alliances, Mary’s unfiltered accountability, and the infamous scroll), and introduce a new recurring segment: Winos on the Virg — honest, no-hype winery rundowns from Temecula Valley.Plus, a health and wellness check-in on embracing an 80/20 lifestyle, redefining “indulgence,” and learning how to keep moving when your body is in pain. This episode isn’t about having it all figured out — it’s about noticing what’s shifting, trusting yourself more, and choosing a truer life.#LivingontheVirgPodcast#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifeReflections #FunctionOverAesthetic #PeaceOverApplause #RHOSLC #BravoTV #TemeculaWine #WineCountryLife #WinosOnTheVirg #WellnessInRealLife #MidlifeWomenFollow up on YouTube! The Awkward Middle: Paused Doesn’t Mean Abandoned
This episode isn’t about decluttering — that part already happened. It’s about what comes after you start letting things go, when life doesn’t immediately snap back into focus.Releasing doesn’t create order first — it creates space. And space can feel deeply uncomfortable. I talk about the “awkward middle,” where things are better but not finished, projects are paused, and the instinct is to rush toward resolution just to quiet the noise.I share how paused doesn’t mean abandoned, why discernment isn’t the same as procrastination, and how clarity can be exhausting because it asks more of us. Along the way, RHOBH becomes an unexpected mirror for capacity, perception, misalignment, and why real friends tell uncomfortable truths. If you’re in a season where things feel half-done or unsettled, this episode is a reminder: you’re not failing — you might just be in the middle. And the middle isn’t where we perform… it’s where we learn.#LivingOnTheVirg #Alignment #PersonalGrowth #LettingGo #Discernment #Boundaries #MindsetShift #IntentionalLiving #SelfAwareness#Decluttering #LifeTransitions #EmotionalClarity#RHOBH #BravoTVFollow up on YouTube! Clutter Is Delayed Honesty: What a Closet Cleanout Revealed
What started as a simple closet re-org turned into something a lot deeper: releasing. In this episode, I share what surprised me about decluttering—how emotionally complicated it can be, how decision fatigue and “visual noise” become psychological clutter, and why it can feel both heavy and relieving at the same time.We talk about the three kinds of items that hit hardest—aspirational pieces, emotional keepsakes, and the everyday things we keep carrying long after they stop serving us. And we land on a truth that hit me like a ton of bricks: clutter can be delayed honesty. The peace doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from being honest about what fits your life now.If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re holding onto versions of yourself that no longer fit… this one’s for you.Substack for recipes + extras (“Living on the Virg Podcast” on Substack) DM me on IG if you want my closet organization zones.#LivingontheVirgpodcast #LivingontheVirg #Decluttering #LettingGo #Clutter #Organization #PersonalGrowth #Alignment #MindsetShift #LifeEdit #DecisionFatigue #HomeOrganization #ClosetCleanout #EmotionalWellness #SelfImprovement #Habits #MotivationFollow up on YouTube! Choosing Alignment
As the new year began, one word kept surfacing for me: alignment. After circling around the ideas of being centered, enlightened, and living more simply, I realized I didn’t want multiple intentions competing for my attention. Alignment became less of a goal and more of a question I’m learning to ask in real time: can I live with this decision once the excitement wears off?In this episode, I talk through what practicing alignment actually looked like for me this week — including a last-minute invitation I was genuinely excited about, the disappointment that followed saying no, and how choosing what “fits” doesn’t always feel peaceful in the moment.I also reflect on how watching the RHOSLC finale and the Mary Cosby documentary mirrored this tension between impulse and intention, escalation and pause — and why my tolerance for chaos has shifted, both on screen and in real life. This isn’t a lesson or a manifesto. It’s a conversation about listening to your nervous system, noticing what steadies you, and letting alignment become a quiet but reliable compass.#LivingontheVirgPodcast#LivingOnTheVirg #Alignment #IntentionalLiving #BravoTV #RHOSLC #PopCultureReflection #LifestylePodcastFollow up on YouTube!
