Welcome to the Night Court - A Court of Mist and Fury Review

Head back to Prythian with Emily and Alex as they dive into A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, a sequel that completely swept them off their feet. With Emily returning to a longtime favourite and Alex falling hard for the world beyond the wall, they revel in the stunning imagery of Velaris and the magic of the Night Court. From swooning over chapters 54 and 55 (but especially 54) to falling in love with Rhysand and his unforgettable Inner Circle, the two explore everything that makes this book a fan favourite. The pacing feels sharper, the tension deliciously drawn out, and the emotional payoff deeply satisfying. They trace the puzzle pieces Maas has been laying from the very beginning, all leading to a betrayal that left them reeling and furious at a certain character they will now likely despise forever. Covering only the first two books in the series and avoiding all other SJM spoilers, this episode is perfect for both seasoned fans and first-time visitors alike. So pull up a seat and get cosy, darling, because this is your invitation to the Night Court.

Welcome to the Spring Court - A Court of Thorns and Roses Review

This episode of Lost in Fiction is the most anticipated yet, as Emily and Alex dive into the richly imagined world of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. With Alex reading her very first SJM book and Emily returning to a longtime favourite, the two share their excitement at finally starting this beloved series. As they journey with Feyre beyond the wall and into the enchanting Spring Court, they explore the slow burn pacing that lays the groundwork for everything to come. From deadly wolf hunts to fae politics and unexpected romance, they unpack the quiet tension of a story that slowly sharpens and deepens, especially in its thrilling second half. Whether you're reading ACOTAR for the first time or returning with well-worn tabs, this spoiler-free episode covers book one only (with no other SJM spoilers at all). And always remember that in Prythian, masks hide more than just faces.

Book Hoarding Gremlin - May Bookish Chat

This episode, Lost in Fiction is back with their May ‘Bookish Chat’ and it’s full of fanfic recs, spicy opinions and spoiler-free recommendations. Alex finally takes Emily’s advice and tries reading and listening to the same book at the same time, (which, spoiler alert, is a total game-changer!). She also starts a new YA fantasy series, while Emily discovers a new favourite childhood-friends-to-lovers read and shares her thoughts on whether Silver Elite actually lives up to the hype. They also get real about the romantasy scene and ask the big question: are too many new books just a rinse and recycle exercise? It’s a bookish catch-up filled with laughs and plenty of exciting picks for your TBR.

One Bench Trope? - Great Big Beautiful Life Book Club Review

For the May Book Club, the Lost in Fiction community read Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry, their first full romance pick and one of the year’s most anticipated releases. However, despite the hype, the book fell flat for much of the group. In this episode, Emily and Alex explore the chemistry between Alice and Hayden, the chaotic pacing, and the wild late-book twists (yes, there is a cult), all while praising Emily Henry’s writing on grief, love, and family. While Margaret’s backstory and sisterhood themes offered some beautiful moments, the muddled structure and rushed romance left most members wanting more. The final rating was a generous 3 stars, marking the lowest Book Club score yet, so consider yourself warned before diving into this one.

Be Wary. Be Clever. Be Good. - Two Twisted Crowns Review

This week on Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex return to the brooding, bewitched kingdom of Blunder in Two Twisted Crowns, the stunning conclusion to Rachel Gillig’s Shepherd King duology. With two five-star ratings, they follow the gripping dual storylines as Ravyn fights to unite the deck and Elm searches for Ione’s Maiden Card. And the spark between Ione and Elm? Definitely wasn’t on the bingo card, but it quickly stole the spotlight! As Emily once again falls for the redhead (no surprises there), both hosts are hooked until the final page. With fever-born magic, unforgettable character depth, and the haunting echoes of the Nightmare’s past, this lush finale ties every thread into a perfectly balanced end.

And the Monster They Became - One Dark Window Review

In this episode of Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex step into the eerie, mist-drenched world of One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. Set in the gothic kingdom of Blunder, they unravel a story steeped in dark folklore and laced with a magic system unlike any they’ve seen before, one ruled by the fever, the Providence Cards, and the Spirit of the Wood. As they follow Elspeth’s journey, they find themselves haunted by ever-present riddles of the yellow-eyed Nightmare in her mind and consumed by a tale of black-clad highwaymen moonlighting on forest roads. Join Emily and Alex as they lose themselves in the shadows of this lush debut and ask the question: when all magic comes with a price, are you willing to pay?

Sunset on The Hunger Games - Sunrise on the Reaping Review

This week on Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex switch things up with a special episode dedicated to The Hunger Games, in honour of the recent release of Sunrise on the Reaping. Taking a nostalgic detour from their usual book reviews, they dive into the trilogy that shaped their early reading journeys and explore how Suzanne Collins left an unmistakable mark on a generation. From conflicted feelings about The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes to an emotional deep-dive into Haymitch’s devastating backstory, they reflect on the heart-wrenching characters, haunting themes, and the chillingly clear messages Collins has undoubtedly woven through the world of Panem. Join Emily and Alex for a powerful, reflective episode that goes beyond the arena and straight into the heart of what makes The Hunger Games so unforgettable.

Order Me a Sunshine Prince - Heavenly Bodies Book Club Review

The April Book Club pick Heavenly Bodies by Imani Erriu had everyone floating in orbit with its lush, atmospheric world-building and the simmering, slow-burn tension between Elara and Enzo (seriously… just say you love each other already!!). In this episode, Emily and Alex dive into it all, from the gorgeous celestial setting to the shaky pacing and moments of clunky dialogue that pulled everyone out of the magic. The club fell hard for the sunshine prince, made some eerily accurate predictions, and most importantly, had the chance to share every moment with members of the Lost in Fiction community. Whether you were part of the book club or just in love with this magical world, this episode is the perfect place to unpack all things Heavenly Bodies!Join our Fable Book Club Here

Meet Us on the Mountain Top - Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark Part II Review

Return to London with Emily and Alex as they conclude their journey through Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark with Part II (Chapters 45 to the end), and let’s just say, emotions were extremely high. From Magnolia’s long-awaited healing journey to an unforgettable climb in West Java (a mirror, a mountain, and a metaphor? We’re not okay), this half of the book delivered everything. Tears of joy, heartbreak, and rage were all flowing, and honestly? Everyone is still recovering. The long-awaited happily ever after finally arrived, and no one deserves it more than these two characters. But, of course, Emily and Alex are also screaming into the void about the Daisy Haites characters (Jonah Hemmes, we’re looking at you!). A breathtaking conclusion full of resilience and healing that promises a permanent place for these characters close to all of our hearts.

Meet Us in the Bathroom Mirror - Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark Part I Review

In this episode of Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex dive into Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark, Part I (Chapter 1 to Chapter 44) of a two-part breakdown, covering everything from the beginning of the book through to the heart-wrenching initial reunion between Julian and Magnolia (Chapter 43, we’re looking at you). While this installment hasn’t brought the signature chaos just yet, Emily and Alex unpack the subtle emotional weight of the story so far — from the lingering ache of childhood neglect and abandonment to the softer, but still very present, undercurrent of grief. They’re quietly surprised by the shift in tone, but don’t worry, they’re still screaming about the real MVP of the series: BJ and his continued commitment to his personal growth. And Magnolia, honey … therapy is calling. Pick up. A beautifully introspective first half that sets the stage for what is sure to be a devastatingly good Part II.

Call Me Little Osha - Quicksilver Book Club Review

Welcome to the very first Lost in Fiction Book Club episode, where Emily and Alex dive deep into Quicksilver by Callie Hart! This book took them on an exciting ride as they unpack the hype surrounding Kingfisher (did he really help everyone move on from Xaden Riorson?). The book club also fell head over heels for other lovable characters like Carrion and Lorreth. But let’s be real, they were also left feeling a bit... underwhelmed by the world-building and the sometimes overwhelming lore and magical elements. With all the members’ thoughts, theories, and feelings woven into the conversation, this episode is a true rollercoaster; full of highs, lows, and tons of honest opinions. So whether you are already part of the book club or just curious about the Quicksilver buzz, come join them for an unforgettable discussion with the Lost in Fiction community!Book Club Link

Meet Us in Julian's Office - Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing Review

This week on Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex dive into Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing by Jessa Hastings, the fourth book in the Magnolia Parks Universe. It’s a wild ride that kept them hooked from start to finish, as they navigated the parallel timeline to The Long Way Home and filled in some crucial gaps. Julian’s blatant denial about his growing love for Magnolia takes centre stage, leading to a heartbreaking journey (even though she’s still convinced he’s not an art thief!), while Daisy keeps missing Christian’s heartfelt declarations of love. Join Emily and Alex as they explore the complex relationships between characters, have their hearts shattered over and over again, and fall head over heels for this bittersweet story that will stay with you long after the last page.Join the Lost in Fiction Book Club

Meet Us in the Stormy Seas - Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home Review

In this episode of Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex dive into Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home, and it’s officially earned a spot on their God Tier list. Jessa Hastings has truly outdone herself with this one, taking us all on an emotional rollercoaster as Magnolia and BJ face the heartbreak of constantly missing each other, like two ships passing in the night. Not only did Emily and Alex absolutely love diving deeper into Magnolia and BJ's lore, but they also developed stronger connections to all the characters, who each added their own layer to the story. And as much as they’re still reeling from Magnolia and BJ’s journey, they can't ignore that a certain gang lord has started to slowly steal their hearts and is sure to continue doing so in the next book. A stunning, bittersweet journey that will stick with us all long after the last page. Book Club Link

Meet Us in the Laundry Room - Daisy Haites Review

This week on Lost in Fiction, Emily and Alex dive into Daisy Haites by Jessa Hastings, the second book in her toxic yet gripping Magnolia Parks Universe. The story is packed with another messy love triangle, baby gang lords on every corner, and a questionable redemption arc that leaves them wondering if they actually like Christian now? They discuss the sweet moments of ikea dates, the intrusion of footnotes that might be more distracting than clever, and whether the parallel timelines added some much-needed perspective. It’s a book that has some compelling moments, but it’s hard to say if it completely pulls them in or leaves them hoping for something more. Book Club Link

Meet Us Under the Willow Tree - Magnolia Parks Review

In this episode, Emily and Alex dive into Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings—a story full of toxic vibes, poetic writing, and characters who feel both untouchable and oddly relatable. Whether you fell for BJ or Tom, the lyrical style of writing transported everyone back to the all-consuming way they loved in their early 20s, despite the frequent mentions of frankly awful wardrobe choices. Join them as they discuss the gripping, messy relationships and explore why this book, flaws and all, is impossible to put down.
